    Coffee at Peet's
    Gregory C.

In Belmont for the day and needed a caffeine fix. Popped over from my hotel and walked to Peet's, a coffee house for coffee lovers. This is one of my favorite brands from Major Dickason's blend to their dark roast profile. I ordered a large coffee and an almond croissant all for about $8. Pricey but hey it's California. When I sat down, someone came up to me and asked abruptly, "Are you from around here?" As I looked up it appeared to be an elderly woman. The interaction continues... Me: "Nope from Atlanta" (pronounced aptly southern, 'Atlannuh') Them: "What, where is that?!" Me: "It's in Georgia." (Pops top on coffee cup) Them: "Wow, well what are you doing here?" Me: "I took the wrong bus." Them: laughing Me: (Smiling, taking first sip of Peet's coffee.) I continued to enjoy my cup and enjoyed the lively scenery. The pink haired dog. The airplanes flying over near the local airport. The busy professional doing their thing. This is a neat location right next to the Belmont Caltrain and in the Safeway parking lot. Bonus, there are EV charging stations nearby too. I finished me coffee and croissant and was on my way to enjoy my day.

This place is located right next to the street with ample seating. You can find a nice table next to the window and sit with your coffee. I always love their coffee and my favorite is the egg and cheese toasted sandwich. The staff is nice. Most people do takeaways. But I just sat there gor 30 mins sipping my coffee and it was very relaxing on a Sunday morning.

    Crumbly dry lemon loaf

Stopped by to get a coffee and pastry at 7a and ask the clerk how the cinnamon roll is. He tells me it usually sells out by 10a so I said it must be good so I'll take one. I then ask how the lemon loaf is and he also tells me it's really good. I said sold, I'll take that too. Last item was a plain croissant for my daughter which is her usual choice of pastry at every coffee shop. As we walked out the store my daughter complains that her croissant tastes a bit stale. I tell no way they pulled it out of a pastry box as if it was just delivered. I take a bite and agreed it was dry and stale. I still had high hopes for my two. Omg, the most dry lemon loaf I've ever had. I can make a better lemon loaf. The loaf lacks flavor and so crumbly. I was so disappointed and was worried my first choice which was the cinnamon roll would be the same. Again super disappointed! Their pastries taste as if it's been sitting out for several days. I will NEVER buy pastries from them again. I give this place 1 star because their coffee was fine but if I could I would give 0 stars for their pastries. Such a waste of money. The clerk should have stop short of selling me a second pastry if he knows what a good pastry tastes like. I guess not cuz he raved they are both so good.

Yum I have been liking peets since I added the app! Not too many choices unlike Starbucks, but that's okay! It is easier that way, sometimes! Been having it delivered whenever I'm in the mood at work, so it's convenient! Thank you

Standard chain coffee shop across from Safeway. Easy access with plenty of parking. Friendly staff but store appears run down, while windows on entry doors and all around have not been cleaned in ages. I just hope they wash the equipment better than they clean the store!

After placing our order for a group of four, our drinks arrived within just a few minutes. They looked exactly like the menu descriptions and tasted just as good. The food was fresh, hot, and clearly made with quality ingredients. We all especially loved the tomato soup. We also ordered a waffle to share as an appetizer, and it came topped with large, beautiful strawberries that tasted amazing. The portion size was generous. I ordered the Fresh Mozzarella sandwich on ciabatta bread and asked for it toasted, and it was phenomenal. I did not have very high expectations since this was a quick, last minute choice and we did not even check reviews beforehand, but I am so glad we gave it a try. I was really hoping to try their morning bun or monkey bread, but unfortunately, both were sold out. However, I did get to try the Kouign-amann pastry and a peanut butter cookie. The peanut butter cookie was amazing. It was not overly sweet or intensely flavored, with a lovely peanut butter cream filling between two cookies. We also ordered two cappuccinos for my parents and a caramel latte for myself. The total came to about $28 for everything, which feels pretty reasonable for the Bay Area. The cafe itself had a really great vibe. Very cafe-like with a unique decor that blended old-school bakery charm with modern touches. Parking was a bit of a trek; we ended up parking quite a distance away on a residential street to avoid paid parking and walked a bit to get there. It's definitely not the most convenient location for parking. Despite that, the place was packed, which is always a good sign! The service was great. They took our order efficiently, and while we waited, it was clear this is a very popular spot. I'm determined to go back and try those morning buns and monkey bread!

They also have a fun selection of cards and gifts by local artists, although some of the prices are a bit unreasonable (like $40 for a tiny planter pot). The coffee shop is fine, but less exciting. Most recently, I tried the Bicerin off their seasonal specials, which was a Cortado with Nutella. I thought the Nutella would be somewhat mixed in for sweetness, but it was literally just a teaspoon of Nutella in my drink. I've tried their Chaga Matcha in the past, and it was also just okay. It might've been a more positive experience had our order been taken by a more knowledgeable and customer centric staff person. Suggestions for brand new customers is always helpful when trying to decide what to try. And I was thrown off a little after seeing cold drinks served in actual glasses--so I went back to the register girl to ask her if I should've asked for my order to go since I noticed the drinks served in glasses on the counter--it was our first visit. And she said she ordered it to go, but that still didn't clarify if it would be served in glasses or Togo cup. She was just minimal at best in reassuring me that I didn't have to worry. One tip of advice for her: Suggestions always attract customers to return when they're welcomed to try something that's a favorite or best seller of the house. She wasn't as helpful as a lot of coffee shop cashiers can be upon discovering new customers who are a little overwhelmed with ordering from a large menu. Ambiance was good, this shop is on a popular block surrounded by busy eateries. It's located in a very convenient location-- surely there's no lack in attracting customers. Service could definitely improve with front cashier staff based on our first impression today. Right people right seat is the bottom line in the service industry. There's always room for improvement.
