We live very close, so this is our Peet's Coffee. We are fans of the Italian blend, so I was in for four pounds. They are always great to me. But this time, I had an especially good time. I love Peet's Coffee (hence one star), but this location is just awful. First, it is NOT CLEAN. This includes the barrister area, supply bar and floors. Second, Barrister customer service is terrible. E.g., Barrister placed drinks close to them and strangely, passive aggressively?, just out of reach of customers . This happened several times while I waited for my drink. I even pulled one drink forward so a customer could reach it - they thanked me. On a positive note, the young guy at the register was very good/helpful/smiles. Store Manager - you need to take a serious look at cleaning services and re-training Barristers re customer service. read more

Green tea matcha latte is pretty good. Especially with half (or less) of the regular sweetener (2 pumps instead of 4 for the medium size). Don't know about their coffee because I'm usually a tea gal. Convenient location. Prickly cashiers and baristas. I don't mind swinging in when I'm in the immediate area, but otherwise I'd go someplace else. read more

Some days the service is awesome, some days the service is lacking. Awesome service today: ordered a medium coffee w/ room for cream and was served my coffee in a large cup - excellent for keeping my car coffee-free when taking corners and speedbumps a tad too fast. Lacking service on other days: four or more people in the register/espresso area, yet only one register is open. The line does move, but sometimes the chit chat w/ customers is a little longer than I can bear. Not that I'm in such a rush to get to the office, but after spending 40 minutes in traffic, I just want to get my coffee and snack and be on my way. Lots of parking, however - and that's a huge plus. read more

I hang out here fairly often. Some employees are chummier and friendlier than others, but everyone is pretty courteous. I've never had a negative experience. The quality of their mixed coffee drinks varies depending on the barista, so most of the time I stay safe with an ice tea breezer (they're all great) or an iced coffee (Peet's sells quality brewed coffee). The interior design of this place is definitely awkward as some have noted (BIG bean/barista counter in the center of small space with little seats around). However, even though seating space is limited, I've never had a problem finding a table with an outlet for my laptop. It also ensures a relatively quiet atmosphere if you prefer to work in cafes, and the classical music is nice. My main complaint is how cold it can get in there, and unfortunately the staff can't control the thermostat. Yes, Peet's limits wifi to codes, but the baristas have never hassled me over them. I always ask for 2 codes whenever I go there, and each code actually gives you 2 hours, not 1 hour. They'll gladly hand you a code later with a smile if you run out. read more

Meh. I have been to better Peet's shops elsewhere. I love a nice fresh cup of Peet's Coffee, but there has been more than a few times I've walked out of the shop and it tasted a little off or just plain burnt. Turned right back around 2 times and asked for fresh one. Other times i just had to boogie on outa there cuz of time constraints. They're fresh ground is the bomb however. I usually stop by on my way to work or in the middle of the day for a quick pick me upper. The line can be slow at times but the staff will try to accommodate everyone quickly so the wait isn't too long. I'm not a huge fan of the pastries here which are quite limited but good to know the option is available if I forgot to make my own breakfast. I find the coffee to be a little weak and not fresh like other locations. Not sure if the coffee is just sitting for hours but doesn't seem fresh which can be disappointing. It's an odd layout inside with a limited amount of chairs/tables to sit down and relax or get online and hang out. The coffee shop itself is clean which makes me feel better when there. Overall a good spot with a couple things needing adjustments. read more

I stop here once in awhile when I tell myself its OK to pay $4.05 for a cup of coffee. This place no matter how many different barristas there is has to be the best with the consistency. I have had a TON of different barristas here and all of them are consistent. I wish it was this way with the one right by my house - sadly it is not! :( read more

I'm not big on drinking coffee, I'm more of a tea drinker. I started trying to get a little serious about coffee lately because I am going to Seattle this year for a few days and plan on drinking different types of coffee from different places. Anyway, I went to the Peet's in Belmont around 7:30 pm today, 4/7/10 to get a drink that my girlfriend and I like there. It was the Dark Chocolate Mocha Freddo. My drink was nothing but a slushy with little to no taste whip cream on top. It consisted of brown crushed ice with coffee grinds in it. I could not drink the drink and it didn't have a mocha taste at all. I was spitting out coffee grounds the whole time. I had already drove down the road when I started drinking. I think I will stick with the Peet's on Hillsdale Blvd in San Mateo. I did, however, like the choice of loose leaf teas. read more

Of all the Peet's I have tried, this one is my favorite. They know their stuff. Sometimes you get a newbie, but usually there is an experienced barista to assist. And if your drink isn't right, they will make it right without the attitude. But it's rare that my drink isn't quite right. In fact, I think it's been about two years since I've had to return a drink. And, it's nice that they're nice. Every once in awhile they hire someone who doesn't quite fit in (I echo my fellow yelper's comments regarding the bipolar girl). But the thing is, those people generally get the boot pretty quickly. This store reminds me of the mafia in that way - if you don't get with the program, it's cement boots. I appreciate that. Disappointed with Belmont location. The customer service was poorly. When trying to explain my order to the cashier she made me feel like I was speaking another language besides English. When I order the same order at Fremonts location I always get a smile and no confusion. I just wanted a Havana cappuccino with extra condensed milk and less foam. That's it. I shouldn't have to get any backlash from Belmont and when I received my cappuccino it still wasn't made right. Fremont and San Mateo Peets no issues ever. read more

My wife and I after arguing which coffee shop to go to at 6:30 this morning decided for Peets Coffee against Starbucks. It was a big mistake on my part since I won the decision to go to Peets. The two employees attending the shop was just very rude and has no public relations skills at all especially towards new customers. My guess is that they own the business and they are not interested in winning new customers at all. The woman that was working there has unkept hair and the man who was equally rude wears a pony tail. I'll take my business to Starbucks the next time. read more

I love Peet's coffee because it is the tastiest of the chain stores, but the staff at the Belmont's Peet's aren't as on the ball as their RWC counterparts. Those guys are ebuilent; here they look as happy as if they had been conscripted to work in a molybdenum mine. I've hit every Peet's from San Mateo to Palo Alto. This Belmont Peet's have the friendliest staff, most consistent drinks, and THE BEST COCONUT WHIPPED CREAM -- and they're so generous with it too. I personally like to eat it on the side or top my pastry with it! It's the best!!! read more

I walked in stood at the cash register by the door for a few minutes with no help. Then someone came up to me and said I need to order I'm the other side. Ok, I get up to the cash register she looks at my like I'm crazy. I order my drink I wait 15 minutes there's 2 other people in the place. Then some one tells me rudely that my drink has been ready on the other side of the store. I get my drink that tastes like hot water with a splash of coffee and and foam. All the sweetener was on top of the foam. Very bad experience. I never do yelp reviews this happened a few days ago and I still think about it. Really bugged me. Every morning: something good to eat and something good to drink at Peet's. I like Peet's so much better than Starbucks! The service at this Peet's is excellent; I'm recognized as a regular after 6 months of pretty much daily trips; the staff are friendly; service is prompt. That said, I wish more room were devoted to reasonably size tables and the area at the back where we get sugar, straws, and whatnot. There's SO much room at the front devoted to grinders and bags of beans and relatively little for customers. A better layout would earn the fifth star. read more

My boss got me a Peet's gift certificate and I work in Belmont, so I often stop by here after work to, well, continue working. Trouble is, there are no couches, though there are a lot of regular chairs and tables, and they keep the place a little too chilly. The baristas are really nice, but I think I've gotten some newbies lately who aren't too clear on how to make the chai. And the layout of the store is really not user friendly: you have to walk to the back of the store to order. read more

This is a pretty great Peet's location if you need to get in and out. It has an interesting shape so there isn't a lot of seating but their shape does create a sort of assembly line for getting customers in-fed- out; which isn't necessarily bad. All of the drinks that I've had here have been up to Peet's standards and the staff is kind- many of them with lots of experience. read more

There is something wrong with this Peet's. Every morning I stop in for coffee it is a total ordeal with three different people trying to take my order. I have not had my coffee yet people! I usually love Peets, but this one was awful. I ordered a vanilla latte and eggnog latte. Both were so sweet they almost made me barf, even though the vanilla latte was made with non fat milk. I usually love eggnog latte but this one was so awful I barely sipped through 1/3 of the cup and then I just tossed it out. read more
