Love Peet's. But my order ahead on the app is usually late at this location. Recently, it said 2-7 minutes...ended up being 25 min.

Usually for franchise coffee shops, the main thing that I look for is customer service and wait time. The passed few times that I've picked up coffee here, there's virtually no line- but still customers at most tables. Baristas and cashiers are nice and I mostly love that there's a private parking lot, which is easy and convenient for me if I'm in a hurry. For about.. A little over 4$ I can get my drink, which is slightly cheaper than most chain coffee shops. Too bad there aren't more locations! Kudos to Peet's on B Street! Ambiance Really nice location in downtown. The seating is a bit limited. However, the place is very nice and clean looking. I definitely come for the WiFi more than anything else. Today is Christmas Eve! What is better then getting a hot cup of coffee in a day like this, I got my usual dark roast coffee then I was surprised when they told me "today your coffee is FREE because it's Christmas". It's really not about the 2.50 dollars I didn't have to pay ' it's about the fact that they appreciate this holiday and their customers' giving appreciation like this, makes people happier. Poor customer service: the cashier that took my order wasn't really listening when I placed my order. The barista wasn't very friendly, I asked for light foam and there was a regular amount of foam on my latte. I also asked for vanilla but since the cashier wasn't listening to my order, it was left out of my beverage. The latte: wasn't very good, but we had someplace to be. The espresso was extremely bitter so it imbalanced the flavor of the beverage. The condiment station was dirty, needed a good wipe down & restock: they were out of stir sticks & raw sugar... I usually have a great experience at Peet's!! But the girl working Saturday morning, 10/05, was something else... Rolling her eyes, exasperated, and irritated... Don't act like that in front of customers... I was waiting for my drink when another customer was asking for something and the girl worker was just aggravated for some what reason. I've never saw anything like that from any Peet's worker anywhere before. I don't know, MAYBE she was having a bad day, but I was really upset with her attitude behind customers back that I felt this needed an immediate review. The other two gentlemen were great though! Friendly, and smiles all around. Customer service from the girl: maybe 1 star... Peet's finally comes to the ghetto. If I wanted Peet's before, I would either have to go to Castro Valley or drive 1/2 an hour away. There's now one conveniently located in my city. Like I've said before, Peet's is way better than Starbuck's. Hands down. It's like comparing Whole Foods to FoodMaxx. Peet's just exudes quality. This one is still going through some growing pains. It took 10 minutes to make my Caramel Freddo. I was only the 2nd person in line. It wasn't too long of a wait, but when it was my turn the girl at the register apologized for the wait. It took 10 minutes to get my order, but the guy making coffee was really nice and kept apologizing and letting me know that they didn't forget about me. He also referred to me by name which made me feel appreciated. I've never gotten that kinda treatment at any Starbuck's. Even though it took a while, I still felt attended to. The Freddo came overflowing and piled high with whip cream. I had to attack that thing like it was a stripper at a bachelor party before I could even put a top on the cup. Peet's is busy in the morning. The tables are taken up quite early so get here early if you want a seat. Staff seems uncharacteristically enthusiastic for a small coffee shop. They look like they love their jobs. Seating based on a rectangular open space. Although it is open space, it still feels quite private and secluded from the rest of the store. Wifi is free with purchase. They'll print you out a wifi code. Thank goodness it's a short six letter code unlike the twelve letter codes at other places. There's a decent amount of electrical outlets at the tables along the wall. I haven't tried much of the other stuff but to me it has the same old coffee shop staples. Note that the sizes are listed as: small, medium, large (unlike Starbucks). All in all, I'd rather go to Peet's over Strabucks mainly due to the free Wifi. read more

I used to frequent Starbucks, then one day i was driving by Peets & decided to give it a try, now i wonder why i ever went to Starbucks. This one is the best that i have visited there drinks always come out perfect, regardless of what i order & the staff is incredibly friendly & they remember you after only a couple of visits. i have also turned several of my friends on to Peets recently & they have also sworn off the bucks. read more

My boss LOVES Peet's and comes here at least once a week! She's taken me with her a few times and I have to say...every time has been a great experience! The employees are super friendly and make your drink fast! The quality of the drinks are also very good. You can really taste the tea and the flavors are strong. Mother does not know that I come here to use the internet to post yelp reviews. I didn't tell her that you can ask for an hour's worth of internet access that doesn't have net nanny installed like at mothers. I enjoy coffee here, it is rich and bold and tasty. They do not reuse the coffee beans like we do at mothers. Mother says it's not wise to throw away grounds after a pot. Mother says people are wasteful and that you can use the coffee grounds at least a dozen times but I think that's ridiculous, do you think thats ridiculous? I think thats ridiculous but mother doesn't think that's ridiculous. Sometimes I stare at the bums that come into this place and wonder where their mothers are. Sometimes I am jealous because they look like they dont shower. Mother says I have to shower 3 times a day. She says I am starting to smell like a man but mother doesn't like men. This place blows Starbucks out of the water IMO. If Peet's & Starbucks were playing Battleship, Starbucks would constantly be saying things like: "Hit", "Hit", "You sank my battleship". Inside Peet's, I immediately felt very snug and cozy. The shades were drawn just right for the sun. Classical music was flowing throughout which really made my experience shine. I stood there browsing their selection and just remembered I had a gift card. I checked the value via a very polite server and continued to scan the menu. I finally decided on a cheese danish and some citrus tea in a bottle (Peet style). The danish was very buttery and had optimal amounts of cheese filling, quite flakey (Sp?). The tea was delicious, a touch of sweetness the way I like it. I swooped a window seat in the back and read on my Nook (Snowcrash). Pretty inexpensive, my order came to be about $4. The workers are really genuine and on top of their game. Quality in the product was icing on the cake. Also, free Wi-Fi is a major PLUS+ I have found my new zen garden! read more

So, I live up the street from the original Peet's location on Walnut & Vine in North Berkeley's "Gourmet Ghetto." This is the store that Albert Peet opened in 1966, and little has changed about the place since, which is probably why it's closed for renovation . . . But I digress. I have been frequenting Peet's for close to 30 years, and have been to more locations than I can remember. But something happened to me recently that completely blew me away and I now pay homage to the Peet's in Hayward. I usually get my coffee shipped to me from a small roasting company. But I was off in my timing, and ran out of coffee both at home and in my office (which is in Hayward). I, too, have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Hayward location because I truly HATE the coffee at *$, and -- if I run out of coffee -- it was one of my limited options. Thank Heaven Peet's arrived in Hayward! So I stopped in there to pick up a half pound of coffee for the office to tide me over until the Port Office delivers my beans, and ordered "a cappuccino, short pull." Apparently the guy behind the counter misheard me, because he placed an order for a double espresso, short pull. "No big deal, I'll drink it," I told him. As near as I can tell, except for the manager, everyone in this location is a brand new employee of Peet's. So imagine my utter and total surprise when that espresso turned out to be the singular BEST espresso I have EVER had at Peet's. PERIOD! Awesome. read more

I love a good strong cup of coffee and Peet's always delivers! I love the flavor of Peet's coffee so much more than $bucks. I treat myself to a large cup once a week whenever I ride BART to Hayward to meet up with my carpool. I even make a point to take a earlier train so I can walk the short distance from BART to this Peet's and walk back in time to meet my ride. The staff is friendly and the line usually short enough to get in and out quickly. Make sure to check-in on your Yelp app, because you never know when they will have a check-in special. Great spot right in the heart of Hayward. I'm glad this area opened their doors for more than just Starbucks. There is plenty of parking and restaurant sized seating. The free WiFi is an added plus in case you want to come lounge for a while and work or just surf the net. The staff is very friendly and customer service is great. The fifth star would have come if there was out door seating. That is the only thing that this location lacks and would be perfect considering the weather in the East Bay. Peet's is my favorite coffee chain, but this is probably my least favorite location and it's really all about the coffee. I never know what I'm going to get when I order from this location, and I always order the same thing: small (or medium) whole milk cappuccino. The most recent time I got a small hardly warm latte, I mean seriously I had to microwave the coffee at a friends shop just two blocks away. Picking it up I knew it was only warm but I was in a rush and didn't think it was worth trying to get them to replace it. A cappuccino should either be 1/3 each espresso, steamed milk, and foam or equal parts steamed milk and foam (depending on who you talk with), this had almost no foam at all and was filled to the brim with milk, so the espresso flavor itself was all washed out. This wasn't unusual for this location for me, I'd say only one of four or five cappuccinos I've had at this location has been reasonable. At this point I only stop here when I'm walking up the street from BART and aren't going to one of the restaurants on the same strip that also have coffee. read more

Once we got to the barista the tone completely changed. The young woman making our drinks was less enthused and made it a point to remind us they were ready to close. Thanks for your concern but I can tell time. As we left, she didn't hesitate to lock the door right behind us. Still, with 5 minutes before closing a customer was turned away. I used to love this peets until they changed managers. They have a new general manager who has no customer service skills. Went in one morning to get my regular decaf coffee and a muffin. She was irratated that they had to make decaf at 8:30am and then she gave me the wrong muffin (which I didn't know till I was down to the freeway) When I went to get half and half they had none out and the person behind the bar told me they were too busy cleaning the contaners... I finally asked if I could just use the carton. After I left and saw I had the wrong muffin I drove back and the manager never said sorry or acnolaged me... she just tossed the new muffin in a bag to me... I love John, Toni and Claire... they are superstars and should be running the place. They know what it is to show outstanding customer service. Now that this has become my regular go-to Peets, I figured it was time I update my review here. My previous peeve about the line has been fixed by friendly employees and helpful signage. YAY. No more angry coffee-less people in line getting sassy with the newbies! The staff here most recently are especially sweet and considerate and I'm loving this location. Its a pretty okay place. Reliable product a so-so latte. I do notice though when i forget to bring extra change for tip which happens, its not purposeful., that my coffee always takes longer to come-out. Sometimes 5-6 customers that were behind me will gets theres ahead of me every time. Its the weirdest thing. I guess thats how the run-shop? **To note when I remember to bring extra change pretty well and then there is no skipping orders.** Also PS make it so that you can add tip to cards. I don't come here as often as my husband because what I like is on the pricey side so its always when I want to treat myself. I usually get the chai latte or the macha green tea because its real macha tea. The Mint macha latte is so heavenly!!! There's only two places my Italian husband will go for his double espresso....here and Eon cafe....he says no one can get it right but these two places. He comes here daily now for his fix since its so close to Bart and I quote him, "The espresso is so good and creamy that I love how it leaves the after flavor in my mouth..it lingers.......just like home." I am a regular here and I usually have a pleasant experience coming here. I come around 2-3 times a week. I would always order ahead and grab and go my order and the staff are very nice. However, my parents did not have a good experience today. I was not present but they said they felt profiled by the staff. They ordered a mocha and received a hot chocolate. I thought they were joking until I tried it for myself. It really was a hot chocolate there was literally NO ESPRESSO. They didn't even know that they received a hot chocolate until they got home and I tried it. Y'all should not be scamming people who aren't too familiar with coffee. I am upset because I loved this Peets and even though it didn't happen to me this should not be happening. I *heart* Pete's! Well any Peet's, really. I am not a daily coffee drinker, as I drink when absolutely necessary or as a treat. If you like chocolate, try their freddo's. I order caramel lattes and add extra caramel (they don't mind when I ask for more = awesome). What I enjoy about Peet's the most is: -coffee actually tastes like coffee and lasts in my system for about four hours -prices are reasonable for fabulous coffee -their caramel is actual caramel (unlike OTHERS who use caramel syrup - yuck!) Parking is super easy and the staff are always cheery. :) Last summer they had $2 Freddo Friday's - I hope they have it again this year! read more

The employees are all so friendly! I've become somewhat of a regular here, and they remember my choice of beverage~ Every time I step inside this place, I was greeted by a big welcoming smile. One time when I was there, a homeless guy chatted me up and asked me something about Chinese culture. The store manager (I believe) actually noticed and asked if the guy was bothering me and kept an eye out for me. That was sooo nice of him! If you want wireless access, tell them you need X number of hours of wi-fi, they will print out the password you can then use to log on to Peet's internet service. The cashier Ilya was terrible. I told him I was waiting for my online food order. He knew the mobile order stickers were there, but did nothing after I told him. He continued to help other customers and warm up there food after they ordered. I ordered a breakfast burrito, but he gave the last one to the person who ordered after me. Not only did he mess that up, but I watched him put a muffin in the bag and put it in the oven. Even I know that's not how you warm pastries up. My muffin was not even warm. I'm sure the baristas here know I like it here. I come in like five days a week. First of all, Peet's caramel macchiato tastes like caramel macchiato, unlike Starbucks. I hate how they make their taste like candy. It's coffee, dammit! I've only had one bad-tasting latte from this Peet's, and that was when they were training the new guys, and he refunded me because he's awesome. My godmom gave me a gift card for Christmas which I've been reloading ever since I got it. Pretty convenient, especially since they give you a free medium drink every time you add $25 to the card. Nice! But for the most part, it's not the drinks I come here for. I'm *that girl* -- the one with the sketchbook, staring at everyone. Yes, I like to sit in this cafe before I go to my job at the library nearby, and I draw the other regulars here doing their regular-type things. Everytime I come here, i'm always greeted, asked how was my day, would you like ___ on your drink, etc; Peets in Hayward always have superb customer service that goes to infinite and beyond. One on occasion, they were MORE than welcoming. I don't come too often (even though I check in here a lot. Lol maybe they recognized me via yelp checkins. Idk), but this time they were super friendly. I always love their hospitality. I would go to the Peets by my house before heading to campus, but the Hayward Peets is so much nicer. An update of my review of Peet's in Hayward: I love this Peet's location! Why? A couple of reasons: first, the staff in the morning are always friendly, and they take the time to learn my name and talk with me, even when they're busy. Second, it's Peet's, so the quality of both the drinks and the pastries is top-notch. (their chocolate croissant beats out Starbucks every day; the only better chocolate croissant I get is from the Prolific Oven, but I digress) And I feel like this Peet's helps makes the downtown Hayward area more like a downtown; I like feeling like I'm part of a community, and I get a little of that feeling form this Peet's. This place is awesome, finally Peets in hayward! There is a guy there that is a straight espresso connesieur (spl?) he has turned me on to some great stuff (New Guinea Highlands) for some choice sipping espresso. Also try the Garuda, Mocha Java, or Sumatra. read more
