Wow, how the heck did it get an average of 4 stars? Every single time I go here, there's always something wrong. My bad for always going back. After my last visit, I won't be going back to this one...I ordered my usual White Mocha w/ whip. The Peets in Fremont makes it ON POINT. Sooo good. But, at the Hayward Peets, it tasted sooo horrible. Like a freaking alcoholic drink. Gross gross gross. And to top it off, it upset my stomach. -__- They made my mom's latte horribly too. The employees working at the time were kind enough to remake it, and made it right. Sooo one star for them. The employees there are usually rude and crabby and don't do so well with customer service. The cashier Ilya was terrible. I told him I was waiting for my online food order. He knew the mobile order stickers were there, but did nothing after I told him. He continued to help other customers and warm up there food after they ordered. I ordered a breakfast burrito, but he gave the last one to the person who ordered after me. Not only did he mess that up, but I watched him put a muffin in the bag and put it in the oven. Even I know that's not how you warm pastries up. My muffin was not even warm. I'm so glad to have a Peet's coffee to go to again. I found this place driving to Lucky's after driving by Starbucks. Sweet. I love the coffee and you can park by them and walk up to the Hayward Farmers' Market on Saturdays for yummy produce. The service is good and consistent. And we all know about the coffee. I love Peet's Coffee and feel it is by far the best coffee produced by a chain. Probably my favorite is good old Major Dickenson's, which makes great regular coffee and excellent espresso. Their coffee is never bitter and tastes so much smoother than Starbucks. Starbucks always tastes so bitter to me. Besides great coffee they have a large tea selection. If you've never seen it, ask for their tea selection card sometime. There really is something for everyone. My favorites are the Ti Kuan Yin and Sencha. I lived in Hayward when this location opened and I was so happy when they came to town. The staff is friendly and the location is always clean. My only real gripe is that this place sometimes gets so busy it's hard to find seat sometimes. I've been here and had to share a table with someone on a few occasions. It would also be nice if they could have some outdoor seating, but I realize that may be difficult. Any time I'm in Hayward this place is usually on my list. read more

I must agree with Nikko C., Drew P. and Meeshell R. in saying YES! FINALLY a Peets Coffee in Hayward! Before this store opened, I would go to the one in Castro Valley (I like them too!). Anyways, before the Hayward location opened, there use to be a sign that says 'PEET'S COMING SOON'. And I would drive by once a week to see if it was opened. I found out from the CV location when the Hayward location was opening. The service is very fast and friendly. I just went there this morning. I was in and out in a snap. It's always like that. I order a small white chocolate mocha, non-fat, no whip. And I tried a raspberry-blueberry scone. LOVE IT! Sometimes I get a chai or a Assam tea with milk. Jasmine, Faith, and the rest of the team are so sweet in here in the mornings. They are always serving with a smile and the coffee drinks are always made correctly. My husband and I stop by about 2-3 times a week in the mornings to get our coffee, as he drops me off at BART to head into Oakland for work and it is so nice to have a place that we can go into, get consistently great service, and enjoy really GREAT coffee. I work in the vicinity and there are about a half dozen different coffee options but this Peet's is the best. I go there at least once or twice a day and their coffee speaks for itself but the staff is always amazing. Alaina is always friendly and greets me with a smile and I never wait long for my order when she is the barista. The only reason I don't frequent Peet's is because there aren't any within a reasonable distance from my house. Now that I work at a bar up the street... they're probably going to get sick of me. I usually get the Dark Chocolate Mocha Freddo because it always catches my eye and makes me not want to try anything else. Shame on me for being so predictable. I prefer the taste of their coffees to Starbucks, but like I said, the closest Peet's is a 15-20 minute drive from my house, while Starbucks (which I don't even go to myself, but I get dragged to by my roommate) is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive. I patronize this cafe often during my schools months. Depending on the weather, I order my coffee and study until they close. There cold drinks and hot chocolate are much better than starbucks. One complaint I have is, several times when I'm studying they tend to have the air conditioning on, even during the night when it's freezing cold. Another complaint I have is, they don't clean tables often, n majority of time I end up cleaning my own table (unless you ask them to clean it, but I really shouldn't have to ask, it should be clean) read more

I'm a former Peet's employee and have remained a loyal patron. Although I do not go to this location enough to give a rating on the overall store, I do have to shout out one particular employee. Stephanie, with short hair, is a considerate and kind person with great customer service skills. Coming from someone who works in retail, it is refreshing to be served by someone who respects all she serves. As a loyal Peetnik, this chain has been my favorite among the others. Solid, consistent, and high quality products and customer service are among the many reasons why I love and continue to patronize this place. Their extensive menu of delectable food and beverages make it a step higher than the other coffee chains, in addition to specialty coffees, espresso, beans, etc. This Peet's is one of the locations that first opened in this part of the East Bay, and is very conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Hayward (the Heart of the Bay), along the hustle and bustle of Mission Boulevard. Their corner establishment is quite a welcome sight, both interior and exterior, and their windows make it an open-space coffee shop with lots of natural light, and if you want to people-watch, then this is the place for you. It is also possible to do some studying here (Free Wi-Fi, YAY!), if you don't mind an above average noise level, as people come and go, make their purchases, and go on their way. Their baristas are very professional and courteous, and make every effort to make your drinks correct, and given to you in a timely manner. They also check the store throughout the day, clean up tables, and refill what needs to be refilled at their condiment station by the parking lot entrance. What I also adore about Peet's is that when you get your receipt, you get to do a survey online, that would give you a code for a $1 off your next purchase. And, if you happen to be a regular and the cashiers recognize you, feel free to just ask for more than one, and they would be ecstatic to give you more! It always feels great to do those surveys and get $1 off your purchases at Peet's. You can't get that anywhere else, that's for sure! Being in a prime location, this Peet's has pretty much within everything that you'd need - groceries, hardware, a huge variety of different cuisines, a movie theater, a Farmer's Market on Saturdays, walking distance to the Hayward BART station, City Hall/offices, alterations/cleaners, hair/nail salons, etc. - what's not to like if you can get a cup of coffee and a pastry, and do your errands all at once?! I tried their green tea matcha latte. I enjoyed it a lot but I can not say the same about the raspberry/ blueberry scone - too cold, a bit stale to my taste. I took two bites and that was it for me. Just went into Pete's Coffee this morning. The Gal who waited on me was very pleasant. I asked for dark roast coffee and had to wait a little bit. Which was no problem, but i waited and waited. So I went up to ask about it and she said I sorry I sorry and got it . But my complaint is the Guy who asked me if I needed help and I told Him that I was waiting for my coffee. Then He says well we have been busy and ran out. That's funny , because not that many people were there at this time and we had been sitting . with our Hot sandwiches which cold by now. Plus the Coffee was more like Light Roast and not Dark Roast. Very Very Weak . This not the first time we got weak coffee. But It will be the last time I go there , unless I have a change of hard up. All Peet's Coffee & Teas have a tendency to smell like feet. I'm not sure if many of you experience this, but get used to it and it's cafe experienced to be enjoyed. The business scheming, or otherwise feels a bit distracting at first, but thankfully I have had no experience of them trying to creep up to a stranger (me) and try to get me involved like what happens at starbucks. WHEW! That's a plus. Peet's tends to have the most wackiest of all cafe people compared to say Starbuck's, but surprisingly the peace is still maintained. Rarely, at this location such wacky people will disturb the peace. There was one event when a bum woman yelled "he's carrying a gun", but the manager dealt with it, because she was just trying to call a guy out. She's the insane one. Now, the coffee... it's never dilute. It's always the best at any peet's location I've been too and it's no different at the hayward location. The customer service is deliberate; they sound loud, but that's fine. Just act like they are trying to be quiet and they are this way. So, by that I mean they are loud, but they aren't trying to disturb the peace. They are just working hard and trying to provide the best possible service as they see it. read more

I used to love this peets but my personal favorite employees that made my day better don't work there anymore? Some of them still do and it makes it worth coming in. I don't like to come in when a certain girl, really pretty but has a nasty attitude is there. I've seen and heard the way she talks to customers and also to her fellow co workers. She talks as if she's disgusted or annoyed. Its a shame that some of the best people got let go or transfered, I don't really know what happened to them but it seems as if this store is getting worse if that girl is still around.
