Peet's Treats~ Major Dickason's Blend is the Bomb!! Or so says my mate. "Ancient Trees Organic Pu-erh Tea" is BEYOND THE BOMB! There is no other tea on the Planet like Pu-erh. Do yourself a Flavour and give it a try! Peet's version of this tea is very good, but there are other versions out there that I can only compare to a 1997 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve. Ahhhh . . Now that was a year! I digress! Back to the Pu~ You can't overbrew this tea! And it NEVER, EVER gets bitter; even when it's as thick as a cup of Major Dickason's. I've brewed it up to three times and each time the flavor changes. Earthy, musky aromas, smooth on the nervous system and satisfies the palette. Oh, the staff is great and the manager goes out of his way to please. I love Peet's -since I first tasted it in 1982. It's the only place I order brewed coffee because it's the only coffee company where it's always fresh and strong. But here...I have in my hand a cup of weak coffee -light brown in color and it tastes like Starbucks. It's the second time at this bar I've had weak Peets from a Peet's coffee bar. Internet is really slow. If you have Verizon, there's like zero reception. I didn't have a usable hotspot signal. Other things you should know is that the bathroom is the courtyard outside of the coffee shop. Ask the cashier for the code. 5/18/08: I hadn't been to this location in a while and when I walked in, I felt like I was somewhere else as this place was remodeled so much that everything was turned around. What used to be a coffee counter on the right is now on the left and there is tons of seating in the back. AWESOME upgrade Peet's!! _____________________________________________________ This location deserves more than 2 reviews. It is a small one, i will give it that. Gets super crowded too. Tables outside with people munching on bagels from Noah's,burritos from El Balazo, or sipping on Jamba's. The best trick for this place is patience and the knowledge that you can push a stroller to the side for that caffeine hit. It can get a little dirty in here sometimes when it is crowded. This is a favorite local cafe. Although I am not a big fan of corporate coffee shops, I have an afinity for Peet's from my days at Cal. The location is central in Lafayette, and has plenty of parking and shops around it. Every Wednesday morning my friends and I get together in the back patio for catching up and some Jo. Service is good and although the indoor space is small and always busy, where we sit there are big beautiful trees, and plenty of open seats. they will give you a code to use wifi. very cool.. read more

I came back to this Peets today. Looks like they now have 6 employees working the busy morning shift. Yay! It's still as crowded as an after Christmas sale in there, but at least now there are lots of extra baristas and cashiers keeping one another sane through the mad morning coffee rush. Great coffee place. I personally think that Peet's coffee is stronger than Starbucks' , the interior design and overall atmosphere is also better. However, I don't really like their iced coffee. Great coffee, friendly service. - Peet's usual. Paige works here, she's awesome and deserves mention. She not only took the time to answer my phone call during morning rush today, but actually took even more time to go wander the store to see if I had left my wallet lying around. This Peet's is my go-to place when I want to get work done. Their coffee is solid and now they even offer almond milk! I'm also partial to their blended Freddos over the Frappucinos from Starbucks. The Freddos actually have some semblance of coffee/espresso and it's a plus when they blend in actual coffee beans into the drink so you get the nice little crunchy bits of the bean. Service here is always great and all of the staff are incredibly friendly. Another plus is that the internet/wifi here is reliable and not slow at all. While it isn't blazing fast, it's good enough to not be hinderance while I'm on using it. The only issue is that there aren't that many tables, and trying to find one with access to a power outlet can be difficult. P.S. The bathroom is across the courtyard and you need to grab the key by the barista's station to use it, which is sort of inconvenient. read more

I don't know what it's like to work so hard to service hundreds of caffeine-addicted customers every day, AND be so upbeat about it... frankly, I couldn't do it... but Donald does. I complained about the layout of the place, but really, in the end, the service is good, consistently good, the coffee is good, the atmosphere is friendly (the people are, well, you know, it's Lafayette) and you get free wireless. I like my espresso strong and Peets delivers! I love the the way their foam taste here, mmm mmm mmm. In the morning it gets busy so be prepared and there isn't much seating inside, but outside in the back it makes up for it. Also, I like how they don't try to re name teas that already have names like Starbucks (ie decaf green tea is called decaf green tea, not Calm). What can I say. Been going to this place daily for a few years. Gotten used to and now welcome the annoying creaking front door. Everyone is on top of everything and happy. When I initially wrote my review for this Peet's way back when, little did I know I would be taking a new job near Lafayette and this coffee shop would become my "regular" spot...a happy serendipty. That being said, for the last couple of months I have been dragging some serious a** in the morning because well...I'm a masochist and never get enough sleep , BUT I've always been able to count on the morning crew at this location to shoot me through their line ASAP. On top of that I've NEVER, and I mean never seen anyone working that damn early in the morning who doesn't have a smile on their face...must be the coffee? (or a really great hiring manager). Anyway, I know a couple of the folks who work there read my previous review (awww, shucks), and two of the employees are friends of mine (not the ones who read the review, actually), but even with those biases, this is still one of the best Peet's in the Bay Area. Kelly and Vivian are literal angels. The power was out this morning around the plaza -- obviously not by any means the fault of the store -- and yet these two cherubs took it upon themselves to pass out complimentary coffee outside the store. 3.5 A neat Peets friendly to the camp out at the cafe types. Railroad car layout -- proceed from the front, down the corridor to the back for more quiet. Today's (May 24) staff at Peet's is the best I've experienced yet. On previous visits they have not been consistent in terms of efficiency, friendliness or knowledge. But today they are all working together and are positive and friendly. There was back up for the beans along with an explanation of their new offering. I come here on a regular basis, and have fantastic service every time. I try to get here after the 9am rush and still get great customer service. The parking is a little tight, but there is plenty of room to sit inside and hang out, once you are there. I prefer to sit outside and watch the hustle and bustle while I snack on my doughnuts I got from down the street. I like the fact that there are 2 separate lines and that they have enough Baristas to help everyone whether your buying grounds, or shopping for Tea leaves. I generally only go to Peet's for ground coffee, but I had a great experience here the other day and wanted to share. I had an issue with a product that I had purchased. It wasn't as good as I expected, and when I feel like I haven't gotten my money's worth, I tend to try to resolve the issue. I called and talked to Kim about what was going on and she encouraged me to come down to the store so they could make it right. When I got there, she gladly exchanged my product for another one that I knew and loved - no hassle. I was really impressed that she valued my business enough to go above and beyond. This Peet's Coffee location can be found in one of the busiest shopping centers in Lafayette. Definitely your best coffee option in the shopping center. However, not the best Peet's location that I've been to. This location is kind of small - the store is very narrow and there doesn't seem to be a lot of seating. Peak hours are very busy. Parking is ample, but if you want to park close by, good luck. The service is good. It's very difficult to figure out how to line up to place your order. There are "order here" signs, but with the set-up of the store, it's not very clear how to start the queue. read more

I have been going to Peets sense they arrived in the East Bay at first they had exceptional lattes then about a year ago it was just espresso and dump the milk. So I went out and bought my own extravagant espresso machine and started making my own lattes the way I wanted them. Consistently good quality teas and coffee. People actually make use of the for-here option, which is awesome. Real dishes for your hot pot of tea or coffee. I love getting a pot of whole leaf tea. I love Peet's coffee and have been getting the same drink for years. Almost every time I go to the Lafayette Peets I get the wrong drink or it's made completely wrong. I just received my drink and it was only tea (it is suppose to have lemonade and simple syrup in it) so I kindly asked them to add the right ingredients and they remade my drink. The man asked if I wanted only tea and I responded saying no, the drink I first received only has tea and didn't have the other ingredients I wanted. He handed me the new drink and it was the EXACT SAME THING. No lemonade or any syrup and it tasted like the same watery-tea drink I got the first time. My son went in to get a refill on his black iced tea and the lady was rude to him as he took a sip.She said you have to keep your mask on.To which he quirked I can't drink this through my mask.Needless to say he won't be going into that Peet's now.Rude lady and it was Thanksgiving for goodness sake.He went in to help his old mother out too.
