Walked in, clean overall, two customers were finishing up and leaving. No one else in sight. I walked toward the kiosk to custom make my acai bowl. Did 3 bases (Blue Bliss Blend) and picked strawberries, blueberries, coconut, gluten free granola and goji berries, bee pollen, honey. It was ready within 10 minutes staff came from behind the swinging doors and called out my name for the order. I will say I wish it was less base and more toppings. The toppings felt BERY scarce in relation to how much base I received. It was a good bowl, blueberries tasted slightly frozen but otherwise a good snack/meal. read more

I like eating these bowls but they are so understaffed it's insane. I don't know why I keep coming back at this point. I pre order a bowl 20+ minutes in advance and when I arrive I usually have to wait another 20 minutes, so 40+ minutes total. When I get there there are always others waiting, including people trying to cancel orders or get refunds. They only ever have one poor teenage kid working at a time who has to make all the bowls and work the register. They need to stop taking pre orders and DoorDash if they're gonna be this understaffed, especially at the price. It can't be that hard to have two people on staff at a time. UPDATED. I order multiple vitality bowls every week. I'm a regular customer. Today I ordered six vitality bowls, and they delivered five, with five things of granola on the side, so it was obvious that one bowl and one thing of granola was missing. I called to let them know that one was missing and I got an incredibly defensive manager who talked down to me like I was a child. You're in a customer service industry. All you needed to do was offer to fix it but I got repeated defensiveness. I had chosen the Lafayette location because the Pleasant Hill location had terrible customer service. Now I realize bad customer service is it is a vitality bowl corporate-wide problem. I won't be ordering from them again. What a shame. NOTE: The rude manager told me she would refund the missing item at the end of her rant. She did not. UPDATE: UPDATE: I was contacted by the company the next day and notified of a refund. More importantly, however, they apologized for the behavior of their staff. I'm impressed with their response and wanted to make sure that was known. Staff member who I spoke with was extremely rude. I think she might be new because I've been coming here for so long and never seen her. She argued with me about the accuracy of my order and that she "made it right the first time" until I read to her the ticket that I handed her. I had to go ingredient by ingredient to explain to her how to make the bowl and how it says it right there on the ticket I handed back to her. She "remade" my bowl (took to the back) 3x and it was still incorrect. I had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for her to figure it out and she couldn't even get it figured out. It really isn't that difficult. She ended up scraping off the toppings and putting them back on but by then the bowl was completely melted and the toppings were STILL wrong. I am missing many of what I paid for in addition to what the bowl comes with in the first place, including goji berries and almonds. Health code violations cannot be ignored. I took my children in for a smoothie this evening. We used the kiosk to order, as there was no staff present, and went to use the bathroom. After waiting a very long time for the restroom and noticing there was still no one in the kitchen, the toilet flushed, the door started to open and an employee exited the bathroom WITH THEIR APRON ON. I walked over quickly to ask the employee to please cancel our order. She rolled her eyes, huffed and puffed, so I let her know we needed to cancel our order because she used the bathroom with her apron on. It's a health code violation. She interrupted to tell me they use the bathrooms with their aprons but there's a hanger on the back of the door in there. I told her we didn't want a smoothie after she wore her apron in the bathroom, I needed a refund. She was speaking over me and began raising her voice. She said she couldn't give me a refund because I was never charged. I tried to tell her I received a confirmation number at the kiosk and the receipt was sent to her computer. She continued talking over me, telling me to leave and that she didn't want my business. I didn't want to be there any longer, I just wanted a refund. She made comments about my children and how she would be behaving differently if they weren't present. Luckily another employee arrived. The first was still raging, so it was hard to hear but I thought the second employee said their system wouldn't allow the refund, so I took my children outside to check with my bank so they would not have to listen to her any longer. She was still yelling at me as we left. I considered not writing this review, it just feels like more negativity, but I can't get past the fact that an employee was making smoothies in an apron that had just been in the bathroom and thought it was ok. Disregarding heath and safety and acting like your customer is the problem for not wanting to eat contaminated food is wild. read more

I went into vitality bowls yesterday afternoon and while I was waiting in line, the workers started getting into an argument with two women trying to have their smoothie remade. The workers were yelling at these customers and one worker even told them to "shut the f-- up". The two customers were being very patient and calm (one was even holding her sleeping baby), so I'm confused why the workers escalated to yelling. Even though I've had their bountiful açaí bowls in the past at other Vitality Bowls locations, I really wasn't looking for this superfood chain spot when I came upon it as a detour during a long walk on the Lafayette-Moraga Trail. Its only qualification for me patronizing this shop was its familiarity to me and my own delusion that I could eat something "light" in the late afternoon. My sheer ignorance led me to ordering the $8.99 Vitality Wrap with an additional $3 for Grilled Chicken. The price was fine, but the calorie count left me slack-jawed since it was 770 calories without the chicken Holy smokes! That probably meant I was kissing a thousand calories for the indulgence of hummus, avocado, grains, roasted potatoes, red onion, lemon tahini vinaigrette, and something called superseed crunch. Can't forget the Yelp check in for an additional 10% off! the açaí bowl was not full to the rim but just the perfect amount as it was extremely filling! The açaí bowl was not overly sweet, but note to self, ask for extra honey next time! It was still good and very aromatic with the tropical fruits blended with the açaí. I order Vitality Bowls a lot. Their salads are delicious and they have good gluten free options. The key to a successful experience is to use the app to order ahead of time. That will ensure that it is ready when you arrive. I have seen them really working to improve their processes and staff. They have a new manager who is very sweet and has really helped to organize things. I have seen a lot of improvements. If you haven't tried the new app then give it a go. It works significantly better. There is still room for improvements but they are working on it and it's more of a corporate operational issue than an issue with this location. I just love that there is a place that helps me to get healthier options. Keep in mind that you probably have to modify the bowls to lower sugar and add veggies but once you get your order down it will be your new favorite place! Happy eating! read more

I have now had several issues with gift card I purchased here not having any value on them. Several weeks ago (my review is late!) I tried to use 2 gift cards I bought from Alan at this store. I was told neither had any value remaining. I still had the receipts on the cards I asked the person who helped me if there was someone I could speak with and was told no. I then had the same issue with different gift cards that were also purchased at this store. Either the gift cards are begin wrung up then cancelled and someone is taking the cash or something else is going on that needs to be addressed. I'm out over $200 and not amused. read more

This was the first time I've tried this place and I had ordered a pick up. First my salad totally wrong and just sad didn't taste all that great. The mint was not fresh it was all dark and mushy, the wrong egg was added, the only substitution I did was no tomatoes nothing else the steak. The lime or lemon vinaigrette wasn't on the salad it was something else. And not only was the salad all wrong and not good but my juice seems like it had beets added to it which was not suppose to be like that.
