Lmao so the cops came for coffee and I didn't self incriminate myself. Minded my own business and got some coffee but caused a scene by rapping as always. Customer service here is excellent. Even the lead manager is working very hard!

Great cup of coffee

i have been a big fan of this coffee shop vs the one a few blocks down AND the many other Peet's locations for several reasons. 1. staff has been very friendly and open. welcoming staff who greet you (or maybe that's because i'm considered a regular Peetnik now- thanks barista Nadim!) and offer suggestions when you're feeling brave to try new and delicious coffee. 2. i have never had drip coffee here as i am an espresso and latte lover, but i must say that when i grabbed a small coffee drip (dark roast)- it was pretty good. 3. good taste is subjective, and for someone who has had the same type of coffee 2-3x a month, i would say i can tell when it's being butchered. i have had horrible tasting coffee made consistently at the Peet's in South SF and occasionally at Peet's in Stonestown. This location at West Portal pretty much became my favorite as a lot of them closed down downtown. 4. they work very hard to keep the place clean, and covid compliant throughout the years so i commend them when lines are never long, and supplies are constantly full and questionable ppl (ie homeless, weirdos) are addressed promptly. kudos to the staff here (ie. Nadim, Jasmine, etc) and the new hires they are training! the newbies who have made my coffee did not disappoint so i made sure to compliment their excellent work! Pls tip them consistently and well. xoxo

My first time here. I ordered the holiday spice latte. It was good . I asked one of the employees ( a young lady) to make it extra hot for me but she didn't. It was just warm which was ok . But she was friendly and nice They keep their cafe Very clean . I will definitely go back because I liked the spot . I love to sit next to their window next time when it's raining.

3.5 Stars. This Peet's Coffee should be my favorite location because it is in my favorite neighborhood in SF. I have ordered coffee and hung out in their coffee shop countless times. As much as I like this tiny Peet's location and the friendly neighborhood feel that comes with it, there are a few reasons why I can't give it the five stars that I want to. First, their drip coffee is not good. Since coffee is their business, this should be the most important criteria to perfect. Many times when I have ordered their drip coffee, the flavor is VERY bland. I'm not sure if they are skimping on adding grinds during the making process, but the taste is truly lacking. After having so many disappointing cups, I no longer order drip coffee at this location. Other Peet's locations do not have this problem with their drip coffee, namely, the Embaradero location in the Ferry Building, as their drip coffee flavor is consistently outstanding. Second, there are a few small tables at the front of the store, which is cramped, but okay and a few outside, which is nice, but there are no outlets in the whole store. Recently when I came, they have added many small tables towards the rear of the store, which is great for seating more customers. Third, the staff is a mixture of personalities, some friendly, some overwhelmed. I tried to ask a worker a quick question on my last visit and she wouldn't answer or attend to any question until she had finished helping everyone in line first, which there were about 6. She definitely seemed overwhelmed and unable to multitask. Fourth, the bathroom at this location is always dirty and poorly maintained. There is no mirror, a very cold feel, and often times a wait. Furthermore, this location makes it very hard to use a coupon. Last time, the staff made us click almost 10 links on my phone to pull it up. They should just give the customer the discount if they mention it. Staff should also be knowledgable of current promotions, which often times they are not. The thing I do like about this Peet's coffee location is their espresso drinks. As long as it's a handcrafted beverage, using the espresso machine, there is a good chance the taste will be decent or pretty good. On my most recent visit, the boy making my latte added some cute latte art, which was a very nice surprise as none of my latte drinks in the past at this location had latte art. I hope this Peet's Coffee location will make the necessary improvements to make this store excellent because the West Portal neighborhood is an excellent neighborhood for local SF residents.

Been a Peet's fan for many years. One of my roommates would make 101 that was so strong I swear it burned a hole in the pot, but it got us through many late nights when burning that candle! I came in to take advantage of a reward. If you don't have the app, get it. Keep some funds in it or use Apple Pay or any other card. If you're like me and have not bought a # of coffee at $18/lb, bring smelling salts. I will continue to use the Keurig @ less than 50 cents a cup. The French Press will be returned. Oh and did I say I mention that I hate Starbucks?

Another good Peet's location. I prefer them to Starbucks Tess days. Friendly staff and service. Good distancing and safety measures in place. Only a few people are allowed in at a time.

Peet's Coffee is a little better than Starbucks here is SF. A little cleaner, a little better laid out. Just a more pleasant place to be in general.

Lines in the morning.

The crew at this location works so hard to make things right during C19. It's such a small storefront and narrow sidewalk to get the online orders organized and then the direct orders. I commend them. Be patient and tip well.

Came here the other day after waking up in West Portal with boy. I got a vanilla latte and a chocolate croissant. It was a fun morning activity.

update: it's been remodeled, with an expanded workspace; counters are lowered (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tLCTn1IMu1qUX3JAWxmf_g?select=eK54al6jUKeNJVA_iUVMcA). If you spend $25 for a Peet's gift card, you get a free any-size drink. The other Peet's visit's latte was good, so two days later I had to go to this Peet's and grabbed another. Inviting with not that many, but enough indoor and outdoor seating. Located on West Portal Ave; a real "SF-local" neighborhood, and can see the WP-MUNI station from here. Mostly metered parking in the area. A good place to stop in before, or after, the Stern Grove Festival's Sunday Concerts. Since discovering their lattes, now will have to alternate between this Peet's and the StBux down the block (http://www.yelp.com/user_details_review_search?userid=09T1oyi6c-9lvyt7gQCD2w&q=starbucks+west). Bonus review: "Public Enemies" = Good history lesson about 1930's mobsters, and the background story on the formation of the FBI. It's another M.Mann movie that is somewhat sympathetic to the bad guys, with at times fun dialogue - pretty much a theme in all his movies (my three copies of various formats of "Heat" can attest). J.Depp was cool as J.Dillinger.

Sweet maple latte!

Very nice Peet's Coffee. The service was very friendly and prompt and there was enough seating that I could sit and enjoy my drink.

I only do web order at this busy location. Good strong coffee! The lemon loaf/bread is not as sweet as that from Starbucks.

Like everywhere else in SF, you have to pay for street parking but it's free after 6pm! The vibes inside are of a typical coffee shop and there is a good amount of tables and seats! The barista makes each drink one at a time, so it could take a while to order and get your drinks, but it just shows that they are very intentional with their drinks! I was super excited to find out that Ballast Coffee is actually a Filipino coffee shop that serves Barako Coffee, which I believe they source from the Philippines. They also sell barako bean roast blends for $20 in case you wanted to make it at home! Since they use Filipino barako beans, I had to order their Ube iced latte and Ube hot chocolate! The coffee had a slightly fruity yet chocolatey undertone that made it really delicious with the Ube! I do think that the coffee had a lighter taste to it, so it let the ube taste stand out more. My favorite was the Ube hot chocolate because it was super decadent and warming! I'll definitely be back at Ballast Coffee to study more and to also try their Ube Mocha as well as other drinks!

I've introduced so many friends to the hojicha einspanner and everyone loves it too! Even though Diamond has multiple locations, this is the only one that serves hojicha. I hope the other locations will add hojicha to their menus too. But what stands out the most to me is the einspanner. It's unbelievably yummy; it's thick, fluffy, and tastes like marshmallows! I could honestly eat a whole bucket of it! The hojicha itself is a little on the lighter side, but it still has a delicious nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the einspanner. Once it's all mixed together, the balance of nuttiness and sweetness is perfect. The space is super cute and has a cozy camping theme. Most of the seating consists of camping chairs and tables that really tie into the aesthetic, so there are only a few tables that are ideal for studying or getting work done. It's definitely a fun spot to hang out and catch up with friends. I also love all the little tributes to the owners' dog, Diamond. You'll find little touches of Diamond everywhere--from the napkins and cup holders to the free stickers. I highly recommend stopping by and trying the hojicha eispanner. It's the reason I keep coming back! (My brother got the matcha einspanner but idk what he thought of it)

Java On Ocean Coffee is a classic San Francisco coffee place which has much more than coffee to order. There is a selection of savory breakfast items, sandwiches and smoothie! Given it was after 3 pm I ordered a Mexican Mocha and an oatmeal cookie. The café was fairly packed with nearby Riodan High School students studying about American history "New Deal" with great enthusiasm and laughter!
