Inclusion isn't a hard thing to communicate to others and our newly opened neighborhood Peet's got it right with this amazing portrait proudly displayed right behind its barista station. Just another reason for me to happily give my $1.95 for a small cup of coffee in a medium cup. Plus they have sugar in the dispenser and not those annoying baby packets! The decor is beautiful and the array of coffees and teas on display is inviting. Plenty of outside seating and seating inside is spaced around the entire coffee shop. Customer service was great. So glad to have a new Peet's in town! Nicely done, Peet's! I gave it another try and came back after a long while Didn't come back for my replacement drink when they offered it but I decided to try it once more I really enjoyed the cashier service the guy was really nice polite and attentive with us he was very patient and help us chose some drinks we had some jokes here and there and felt he was nice I liked the drink he helped me choose it was really good It did woke me up lol but the down side is the long wait they do get a lot of customers here and some of the employees were really fast and knew what they were doing but I really don't know if the girl giving the orders was new or just having a hard time to deliver the orders but she took a very long time the reason Im giving them 5 stars instead of 4 is because of the customer service we got but I don't really think I'm coming back any time soon specially during work hrs my break is not that long to wait for more than 10 mins again read more

Great addition to the neighborhood! Wi-fi seems to work great, even with lots of folks here online. They did a good job of localizing the atmosphere with a big Dave Marcoulier wall hanging of a map of the Bay Area with San Leandro in it. Outdoor seating is crowded and looks like folks are enjoying it. No too loud today. Hope it stays this way. Took the Yelp offer for a dollar off a milk chocolate almond mocha. Was well-made, but I probably won't pay the $4.25 full price for it in the future. Will def be back for regular coffee, though. read more

I absolutely love this Peet's and go out of my way to get coffee here. Why, might you ask? Because the staff are wonderful, kind, compassionate, non-judgmental people who make sure they do your coffee right. It is a stark contrast the unmentionable other chain whose drive thru location in the San Leandro mall literally caused me emotional distress (no lie-- look at my other reviews to see what happened-- and I got on line harassed by a friend of one of the workers there!) I'm on a special, very low carb, high fat diet (keto), which means I ask for heavy cream but sugar free syrup in my lattes (aside: it's an amazing diet-- you can reverse diabetes and I have great cholesterol! but I digress). So, I have experienced several Peet's baristas in Oakland--notably Fruitvale and Lakeshore-- give me weird and snarky looks for my drink order. Because yes, as a barista, you are entitled to judge me for my drink . Not here! I said, "I know, it's a weird drink order," and she was "Not at all!" and was utterly nice and especially courteous. Aside from my personal experiences, I've noticed they are just kind to everyone, no matter what. I love these folks. They deserve a raise, or a bonus! read more

Back in high school, I've always dreamt of having a Peet's in town! Then about 9-10 years later, that dream came true! Finally! Peet's has entered the Downtown San Leandro scene! Situated at the corner of Juana & E. 14th at the heart of Downtown SL at the new The Village retail area. It's no doubt it became very popular, since there is no other retail coffee outlet in the immediate area & Peet's stands high & mighty in that scene! There's no "mermaid" to be found (unless you're inside the Safeway at the Plaza). Customer service is exemplary & courteous, as well as drinks are on point! Make sure to ask for a receipt so you can get a dollar off on your next purchase, by doing the online survey! Bringing in your own cup also helps, as it is $0.10 off your bill! read more

Why does it take 45 minutes after a confirmed mobile order to get my order?! I Ordered two drinks and two breakfast items. My Coffee and matcha latte was COLD!! Waited for the food but since the last food item was waiting to go into the oven I asked for it to go. The ladies response was it won't taste good cold! Well my coffee didn't taste good cold too. I was able to warm my breakfast sandwich up at home. This was just ridiculous!!! I saw people walk out with out items because it was talking too long. I know I wasn't the only one. I've ordered a small dry cappuccino several times here. What they give me is basically a latte with extra foam. A standard cappuccino shouldn't have this much milk let alone a 'dry cap'. So today I order an extra dry cap. It should feel light when I pick it up. Right? Espresso with some foam. But once again it's a cup heavy with milk. Practically a latte. Sigh. Of course, I remark that this feels like lots of milk but the barista assured me it's almost all foam. Not so I discover. The Peet's on Fruitvale gets it right every time. No big deal. read more

We went here to have a cup of coffee on a weekend and I ended up having a small moment of bliss that stayed with me throughout the day. I'm unsure of how much it had to do with Peet's Coffee itself and how much was me just being in the present moment while I zipped on a particularly saccharine cup of brew, but I wanted to share this. About the place itself, the atmosphere is calmer than a Starbucks so that's a plus in my book. Everyone here is super nice! Although they are new and it must be nerve wrecking they still deliver great customer service! The inside is beautiful! Lots of paintings very modern they did a great job! Convenient location at the heart of downtown San Leandro. Parking can be challenging depending on the time of day. Not Peet's fault... more of the city's shortcoming. The store is clean and service is efficient. My wife's coffee was given to another person. They don't write names on the cup (a la Starbucks). Doing so might have prevented the error. Coffee taste is consistently good. read more

I love Peet's coffee and have been going for many years, in fact it was my first job. I worked at a Peet's for three years, and I learned so much about coffee and tea; also the quality and care set into the process of creating such a delight in a cup. Unfortunately I do see that the quality of staff and drinks has diminished. I put an emphasis on the staff, however. I used to feel invited and appreciated when I walked into any coffee shop, however, now I feel I am treated like a burden. There are exceptions as the staff at every Peet's are not the same, and some are still very nice. There is however this attitude of the youth these days that construes it to be cool or acceptable to act condescending/ and impatient. Peet's needs to work on the screening of their hiring. As a first time buyer at Peet's I may say I will never return. Their staff are beyond rude on helping a new customer buy and select from a new menu. I was always use to Starbucks, and accidently ordered a "Caramel Frapucchino" at this location with their rude employee just said I was at a wrong place, but wasn't good enough to advise a similar drink to a caramel frapucchino. I was a little shocked. I came in here on Friday, June 30th in the mid afternoon coming from a long transit ride from Oakland to San Leandro; and was waiting to meet a habitually late friend at this Peet's. I had a latte. I sat with my laptop wanting to catch up on work and studies. By 20 minutes in my seat, with the place nearly empty of any sit-down patrons; I got the let's push this guy out treatment from the staff. They set the air conditioning blasting to uncomfortably low temperatures with the fans on high speed to blast directly at anyone seated. They engaged in excessive noise to create tension; with three staffers throwing their brewing instruments around in a highly audible fashion to prompt discomfort. And they progressively raised the music at volumes to pierce ear drums at disconcerting levels. I was shocked they didn't want to go all out with this passive aggressive routine and pour bleach in front of me or spray heavily scented ammonia cleaning products around me so that my eyes would burn from the vapors. The room got so cold, somewhere under 55 degrees that a patron waiting for a drink sneezed; and it was followed with dubious meaning "bless you" from one of the barristers. Something is going on at this Peet's location; friction with management? staffers getting mistreated and wanting to act out? political rivalries between new and established workers or political situations between changing shift teams? I don't have time to play these guessing games; so I know not to return to this location. Luckily the day was warm, so I was able to sit outside until my friend arrived. This Peet's location is near my house, so I decided to come by a busy Sunday- I ordered a iced white mocha with whip cream and when I received it, my order was completely wrong. The barista made a iced mocha with expired whip cream- the whip cream taste like fish! I understand that Sunday's are busy! But please check your product expiration date before serving it to the customer. I also wanted to add that the baristas were taking among each other, which is cool, but can you talk and work at the same time? Probably not because my order was messed up! read more

Customer service sucks, there could be a line of people during morning rush hour but they are setting up stations and such; instead of taking orders and getting customers in and out. Service station is gross all the time, you have to be lucky to get HOT coffee most of the times you'll get Luke warm,and pastries; they look fresh on counter but taste old in your palate. I have a bad back and have issues standing while waiting 15 min for them to make drinks for 4 customers. I sat down on their bench and was barked at by an employee that the benches were not available for seating while I waited. A sign or a heads up on a place for people to sit would be nice if they are going to take for ever to make a couple drinks. read more

I tried Pete's as this is right by my apartment. I am usually more of a Starbucks guy but I can still appreciate Pete's and their different type of flavors. The Pros: The services was friendly and fast. The Chai tea latte was decent. I enjoyed the whole overall experience. The Cons: This place is very busy. The parking lot if always almost full. I live walking distance and walked here but I can not imagine having to try and find parking. I have actually seen people park by my apartment and walk to this plaza. read more

I've been to several Peet's and they have all been great. I love the food, drinks, and staff. This one in San Leandro has been over the top in their service. I went in asking about cold brew coffee and which beans to get. The person that rang me up, Kevin, was extremely thorough in their cold brewing process and advised me on which beans to get. Then he even gave me a one on one instruction on how to brew them. I love the down-to-earth feel of the employees here. They don't just want to sell coffee - they are passionate about the coffee and coffee drinkers. I will definitely come back here and purchase more. Today, the cashier was cool, he was 'Johnny on the spot' with his service and was patient when I fumbled for the balled up cash in my pocket and frantically straighten the bills (definitely tipped since he wasn't a d*** about it) -- gotta love people & good service. My drink was made alright, the Crema (tan deliciousness on top of espresso) wasn't how I'm used too a Peet's Americano (seemed Starbucksy) so I asked for a 'splash of chai' on top since it was literally next to the barista (and it's good together, recommended) but he got snarky and lied.. He told me it cost extra to splash chai (not chai flavoring pumps, cold brew chai) into my weak Americano. I then told him that he and one other barista at a Peet's in Berkeley share that opinion and I walked out pissed that I'm being lectured on something that is my regular drink. P.S. They isn't a button on their register that says 'add chai' or any variations of the like, sip on that. After my experience, Peets corporate contacted me and explained why I went thru this past experience and also apologized for the situation. They offered me complimentary drinks and when I went back the experience was much better so I will continue to go patron Peet's. read more

Awesome location, ample work space indoors with lots of light, and plenty of tables outdoors. This will definitely be one of my chill spots with the dogs this summer. Parking lot is a bit small, and there's annoying 20 minute parking right out front. Who had that bright idea? I like to linger. You may also be tempted to have a burger or a burrito from the Habit next door or the Chipotle across the street. If only Peet's (and most other coffee shops these days) didn't use that Pacific Barista almond milk with the carrageenan--it's a carcinogen, people, and really bad for our digestive system. Although I'm not a big fan of corporate coffee shops, I gave this new peets a try and I wasn't disappointed. The only reason for my 4 stars is because they don't offer low fat milk apparently, and when I stated that I wanted sugar free Carmel the cashier didn't tell me they didn't have it, I found out from the barista. Being that I live a block away I'll probably be here whenever my nesspresso isn't satisfying my coffee quench. And by that, in particular, they know their regulars and treat them (as I see them do with every customer) with a smile, greeting and the finest beans, roasts, one could ever want.
