I love peets coffee way better than starbucks! This is my go-to location, mainly because it's the closest to me in Northridge. Parking can be tough depending on the time of day you go. I usually ago before 6am during the week before heading to work. My go to drink is the coconut black tie. It's sweeter than the regular black tie but still has a good strong coffee taste which I like. I also recently tried the cold brew fog latte which is mostly likely one of my new go-to drinks. The drink is nice and creepy. It comes out foamy on the top which somehow makes the drink more satisfying on the palate(?). It's nice of like the Starbucks Nitro cold brew but better! As for the actual place, it is kind of small. I tried studying here once and there aren't many places to sit, so I suggest not going here for a study session. The only reason I give one star off is because some of the workers can look a little more happy when you come in the morning. Most of the workers are friendly and greet you but certain employees just look a little miserable, but I guess I look miserable having to work before 7am as well. Quality coffee! I always enjoy purchasing peet's coffee in whole bean form, k-cups, or grounded for brewing at home but when there's an actual location near by presenting the opportunity for their skilled baristas to make it for me, I wouldn't pass on it! The quality of their coffee is really good! Flavors are mixed very well. This location is very clean and staff are very welcoming. Their pastries are hearty and taste fresh. There are a few tables inside which make it a good location for meetings, review sessions, maybe writing the next big screenplay, etc. I'm so happy my company moved walking distance from Peet's! read more

I Love Peet's but my experience here was pretty bad. I didn't get this employees name but he was a tall skinny dude working that messed my drink up. I came back in to get it replaced and he had such an attitude about remaking my drink he was just moving things around angrily, I could tell he was making a big deal about remaking it. I don't like being an inconvenience, but my drink was made really bad the first time. I feel like I should be welcomed and appreciated for my business like I do at other Peet's that I've visited in the past but unfortunately this ruined my experience here. Very disappointed in this location. Used to come here multiple times a week. Staff was great. Now not so much. New staff is poorly trained. For the past 6 months I've tried to give them a chance but the drinks are consistently bad or not made fresh. I'd say only one out of 5 cold brew coffees are made correctly. Today was the last straw, ordered a hot coffee, neither was fresh and they offered to mix the two brews. I'd said I would wait for a fresh batch and then two min later they told me the new batch was ready. Here's the thing at this coffee house (which I'd like to be more enthusiastic about); sometimes the employees are welcoming and friendly, and other times they seem surly and indifferent. I don't expect people to always be happy and on their game, but it would be nice to be greeted with a genuine welcome most of the time. The parking is annoying, the coffee drinks are good and the atmosphere is hit or miss. I really want to utilize local places more than big chains (although Peet's IS a chain, but a bit more local seeing as how it originated in the Berekley area I believe), but personality does count in my book. The coffee is very good. One can never go wrong with Peet's. It does get a little loud at times but that's why we have headphones. The downside is the parking lot. I was lucky on this day but I can only imagine how hard it might be to get a good space on a really busy day. I can study at this location as long as I have a space to plug in my laptop. It was a busy Good Friday and the place was swamped. Yet the staff had a great attitude and handled the volume of business very well. I never saw a hint of attitude even in the face of customers asking for things after the fact ("can you make this again? It's not thick enough"). They made a fresh batch of coffee just for me. Walked into Peet's for a cup a coffee and to get some work done, and ended up leaving with a free cup of coffee. Breete ( I hope I spelled that correctly) was my barista/cashier. He asked me what I was in the mood for, and I answered with "just a cup of coffee". He suggested I try their holiday blend, so I said sure. He poured me a cup of coffee, and once I was going to pay, he said to take it as a sample. He was very kind, and the holiday blend was delicious. It was my first time at a Peet's. I noticed the customers are called my name there, and the employees are all very happy and helpful. This location is a very busy location. 8.5 (out of 10) As chain coffee houses go, there is really no better than Peet's. Starbucks did to coffee (in brining the notion of coffeehouses to the mainstream) what McDonald's did to burgers and fries. But I would never say the best burger I've had was at McDonald's, and just as likely would I say the best coffee comes from Starbucks. (Interestingly, Howard Schultz got his start at a Peet's). I don't typically review chains and franchises, but this coffee shop warrants it. I am a devoted drinker of the "other" retail brand, but I am in love with this Peet's! The coffee shop, tucked in a typical Valley strip mall, is a cut above the rest. The interior is clean, cool, and very well laid out. Baristas are efficient and seem to enjoy being there. The drinks are well-made (thank you for not letting my shots get stale and bitter!). What more can you ask for? On top of all that amazingness, they gave me $1 off my drink for checking in on Yelp! Cute little coffee shop, has a Coffee Bean with a lil extra hominess feel to it. Good selections of coffee, tea, pastries and muffin. I even spotted a Vegan muffin. The cashier was super friendly, I didnt care for the barista guy. I had requested some chocolate swirl on top of my drink and apparently wasn't charged for it. So when the barista dude handed me my drink, he made sure and informed me that he would let it go this time, but they charge extra for that. It was rude! Your gonna sweat me for a tiny chocolate swirl on top? Really? What for like 50 cents? I hope he isn't an owner because his vibe sucks and so does his customer service skills. He should have just let it go and made sure the cashiers know to charge everyone in the future. But to leave a bad taste in my mouth over what amounts to less than a dollar really wasnt worth the bad review I'm writing. (keep in mind i only spent one hour at the location- do your own investigation but these are my observations) At first i didn't understand the laid back atmosphere and style, almost kinda like a throw back to the 90's, but after i left, it hit me and i realized that they are different then the others (Staffing, style and employee practices right away seemed different- more like a mom and pop business model). When I first walked in someone said hi to me and took my order, Ice Blended Mocha with whip and it was made fast. I watched closely because i knew i would be writing a review but they didn't. The girl that blended the drink poured it not all the way to the top which could have been more drink in my favor. And i don't mean to be cheap but this is for the reviews sake the top part of the cup is the biggest portion of the cup and if missed, say an inch off could be considerable loss and i saw that. In the end the drink tasted great! Just short. I noticed the straws are super thin which made me think right away watch for the portions, they might be small. Which also put me on guard. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because the prices are higher then other places. In the end after i sat for an hour on my computer, watching the staff and the customers (clientele) the atmosphere won me over and i forgot about the problems and i over came all the obstacles as a customer and had a great experience. read more

Even the customer he was laughing with, realized there were people waiting and excused himself. Probably should have been something the employee should have done. Anyhow, I asked for a recommendation something not too sweet or bitter... he suggested the new caramel beverage with almond milk...almost 6 dollars later for a very small cup of this drink...and it was so not worth it. Not only was it terribly sweet, but I don't feel the almond milk added anything to the beverage except cost. Whoa, talk about GREAT customer service! I know Peets is technically a chain but you really get that "family owned" feel from the baristas here. I was greeted right away and the gentlemen who took my order was so kind and polite! I decided to try a small cinnamon hazelnut latte. My order was done pretty quickly and finished with some beautiful latte art. The drink was delicious- you can tell they use good quality espresso. I know someone that works here. Usually I hear horrific stories of my friends working at restraunts or coffee shops and that results in me never stepping foot in their place of employment. I can gladly say that if I want some coffee, I will, without hesitation, step foot into Peet's and order myself a drink. They're fair to their customers as their customers are fair to them. This is a really great place. The coffee is great and they have a large selection of teas. The place is really quiet and nice the times when I go on the weekends, and is a nice place to sit and work on a computer or to have a chat with a friend. The waitstaff here is really helpful and nice. They seem like their happy to be their and they're always patient with me even when I'm taking forever to choose a tea. Came here to make a quick coffee stop around 8:30 in the morning. The line was at the exit and barely moved after 20 minutes. There's only three people working and even those were not so excited of serving drinks. Worse peets I've been to that takes an incredibly long time. You actually have a selection of tea - Starbucks and Coffee Bean have been put to shame !!! The baristas are awesome. A great coffee shop with a local hometown feel. When I entered it was pretty quiet and docile compared to the raucous made by the numerous costumers at Starbucks. However, I came at a perfect time. The LA weather was charming and warm. The birds were chirping, and Spring was in the air. It was the perfect day to try out something new. I ordered an Iced Mocha Latte. It tasted excellent! The music was not too loud or too soft. Just Right. The beverage was made quickly, and in my hands within 4 minutes. Peet's Coffee and Tea sure know how to make a well crafted cup of coffee. Came here for a meeting and then my friend gashed his head on a low-hanging sign in the front. He bled like a water fountain was installed on his head. Although I can't say I agree with the dangerous sign, I can say that the staff was very attentive and did everything in their ability to assist us. They brought out the first aid kit and stayed with us until the situation was under control. I like the fact that they were right on it. As far as the coffee goes, it's top-end and was great. Bold without the ulcer that usually follows other places. It's more of a home style place as opposed to Starbucks or Coffee Bean. I was not impressed with this Peet's location. In all fairness, I had built it up in my mind at some kind of shrine to coffee sitting there in Tarzana. I've been going to Peet's since 1989 up when I lived in Berkeley, but there are very few of them around Woodland Hills and Westlake Village, where I live and work. Finally yesterday morning, I told my wife I wanted us to make the trek to Peet's in Tarzana to get some good coffee. I know it's not really a trek per say, but for fricken coffee? Well, the coffee didn't disappoint one bit. It was very good and turbo charged or laced with crack since I was tapping and dancing on the tables some 10 minutes later. The service didn't disappoint either. The staff was friendly, responsive, and courteous. There wasn't a huge line at any time. Lots of people coming and going getting their caffeine fix under control. What did disappoint a lot was the atmosphere. Don't ask me why but I assumed, since the Peet's coffee are few and far between here in the Valley, that it would have outdoor seating. Even strip mall Peet's up in NorCal typically have 2 or 3 tables outside. Here, zilch, nada. And quite frankly, there aren't that many seats inside either. People were hovering around the tables like vultures trying to gauge when the coyote will croak in Death Valley. Still, I'm giving them 4 stars because, after all, Peet's is all about the coffee. First and foremost, the coffee is delicious. I had a soy caramel latte that was 10x sweeter than Starbucks without having to ask for any extra anything. Not only is the coffee delicious, but the staff was so warm and welcoming. I was greeted when I entered and made sure to be taken care of while I was waiting for a friend. The only downside is this locations parking lot is always packed and small, but some circling will get you a spot. read more
