I can't believe I waited so long (5yrs) after moving to Castle Rock to try out Pegasus! Wow, great food and even better service. You know how you always say it would be great if there were really great family owned restaurants in town to eat at vs the chains? That is what you get in Castle Rock and Pegasus is a flag flying member of what makes that great! The food is well seasoned and flavorful, the temperatures are spot on, the portion size is perfect and the selection is eclectic from Greek to Mexican to American. Take your appetite on a trip around the world here means you get to come back again and again to either dip your tongue into the pleasing memories of previous trips here or be adventurous and go to the next flavor and escape to another delicious culture. read more

Great Place for Lunch!! I'm visiting from California and we stopped here for a quick bite. My Brother's Wife eats here a lot, it's her go-to..and stated the menu is diverse if you're undecided what to have. As we entered I noticed the caulk board that had the daily specials. Once I saw that, I had my mind made up and sadly I really didn't look at the 2-sided menu. My Brother is currently wheel chair bound, but one day he will walk again! Staff greeted us with smiles and gave us a table that would be the best for him. It was! I ordered the BLT-A. Bacon Lettuce and Tomato with Avocado. It came with with a cup of Black Bean Soup and a side...I opted for a salad. It was flavorful and a perfect amount of food! Brother got a salad with was rather large! I don't recall him breathing or even conversations during lunch?! His Wife got the Taco Salad with ground beef, severed in a fried tortilla bowl. We had Ice Tea and Arnold Palmers. While visiting Colorado for a wedding we were happy to stop in for breakfast at one of our favorite Castle Rock restaurants. As soon as we entered we were reminded of how friendly people are in this part of the country. Heidi (our server) was warm and welcoming and did a fantastic job taking care of us. John (the owner) met us at the table and shared some great conversation about his (and ours) favorite travel locations. Great stories and a genuine good attitude is a pleasant and appreciated rarity in the business. The food.: We both had the smothered burritos and a side of bacon. Very comforting and tasty. The bacon was delicious and cooked perfectly to my preference, crisp!. Friendly service, ok food. The waitress was very nice but the service took a very long time. It was myself and my mother in law - we arrived at 7:30am on a week day and left at 8:50. We both ordered French toast and coffee. It was fine - nothing special. It was very dense and heavy, which isn't my style. I had a side of bacon which was very thin (almost see through) and didn't have much flavor. Nothing awful, nothing special. We were told by a lot of people that this was a great place to go for brunch, so we decided to give it a shot, to start it took 20 minutes for the server to even come over to the table and take our drink orders, she immediately starts pushing alcohol on to us, mind you both of us are under 21. We tell her no and she tries to push it again, so i'm already a little frustrated. She brings us drinks and asks what we would like to eat, we tell her that we need more time as this is our first time here and we aren't in a rush to just eat and leave. (it's about 12pm we had no intentions of staying there past 2, we just wanted to have a nice brunch.) She continues to come over about every 1-3 minutes asking us what we want to eat while getting increasingly more irritated, she is standing about 15 feet away from our table this whole time. So we order an appetizer just to give ourselves more time. This also all happened in the span of about 10 minutes. So we order and are just having nice conversation, the food runner comes over and slams our plates on to the table and I speak up and ask if I could get a side plate of avocado. The food runner scoffs and says "ask your server that's not my job." So at this point we are just giving up on this being a good meal or experience. Then here comes the food issue. My partner ordered their Chiladas, the corn tortillas are extremely tough and cannot even be cut, the potatoes were half burnt and half raw. The beans were crunchy. I got the Jeans combo, 2 eggs over easy with potatoes and pancake, my eggs were almost ice cold and the potatoes were the same as my partners, the only good thing about either of our orders were the pancakes which we ended up sharing. At this point we have not seen our server since she took our order even after multiple attempts to flag her down, both of us are empty on drinks. We just decide at this point that we will go pick up something quick instead of staying here to try and fix the issue. Our server finally comes over, once again tries to push alcohol, asks if we need anything else and I just say that I want the check, she gets upset and says "Well are you sure you don't want anything else." I say no, ask for the check again and she just starts stacking our plates and slamming them together, I'm still eating my pancakes and she goes for my plate and I pull it away just so she knows that I'm still working on it, she grabs the straw trash and throws it on top of my pancakes and tries to yank it out of my hand, at this point i'm extremely irritated and just trying to pay and get out of here. She says "oh are you still working on that." I honestly just stared at her blankly not even knowing what to say and she just storms off, throws the check onto our table and storms off again, we pay and just leave. Both me and my partner are servers so we both understand how a bad day can affect the job and we get how difficult the industry can be sometimes, but wow, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had eating out, I've gotten better service at waffle house honestly. read more

We've gone here for about 15yrs now, and it really is a hit/miss. It depends on who's up front, sometimes they're friendly, sometimes they get PISSED if you ask about the wait. Recently I came in ahead while my husband looked for parking so we could get on the list...I'm brown, I stood there with no one saying hello while other families were acknowledged. Then my husband came in (he's white) and he got a hello right away, the girl looked really embarrassed when I said 'we're together' because she pretty much ignored me for a good 10 minutes. Went for breakfast this morning, horribly disappointed. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, but they were out of biscuits so they served it to me with untoasted white bread covered in gravy. It was pretty disgusting and the waitress didn't offer any other options or the chance to reorder something else. They at least comped it, but not my drink or side of toast I got. Since it was our first time eating here, my husband asked for a menu so he could look at other options. He order eggs, bacon and hash browns. Great locally owned restaurant in Castle Rock that had been operating 30+ years and came highly recommended to me by a local resident. Breakfast and lunch is served daily (6:30 - 2pm during the week and 7:30 - 2pm on the weekends) and the menu is quite eclectic (Breakfast favs, tasty Mexican dishes, and great Greek fare). I have tried their breakfast (free range eggs and tasty, crispy bacon) as well as their Gyros sandwich (tasty gyro meat and pita, but the tzasiki was made with sour cream instead of yogurt - still tasty though!). My boys enjoyed their visits here and my wife enjoyed their vegetarian options. It does get quite crowded on the weekends and can be a little loud - but the food, ambiance, and service is worth it! Our favorite breakfast place! The Breakfast burritos are fantastic and so is the biscuits and gravy. Service is small town friendly and it's the place the locals go. The building is really unique and larger inside than it looks from the street. Never had a bad meal and have been there dozens of times. You can also make reservations for large parties. Pegasus is the restaurant definition of insanity. We keep going there thinking it will get better but every visit it's worse. Always super busy without being full. Young inexperienced servers. Long wait for food that spent way too much time under the warming lamps. No silverware at the table after food arrives. Missing ingredients on my huevos rancheros, which by the way was the worst i have had and this is supposed to be a Mexican eatery. Besides the standard breakfast staples, they also have some Greek and Mexican items going on - interesting. My aunt from out of town really liked dining here and although service can be slow, the food is pretty cheap and you tend to have a beautiful view. Seat in the garden if you can, during summertime. It has large trees and a courtyard and tall wildflowers. In transitioning weather, try to get a seat in the back room where the fireplace is. This is actually our favorite. After our experience here I don't know that I have any reason to check out that first place. The restaurant's ambiance was really classy and I feared that the menu would also be expensive, my friend and I were pleasantly surprised to find that all the menu options were quite affordable. I ended up going with the Gyro Breakfast Plate - I've never had gyro meat for breakfast, but I definitely intend to going forward. We went to this quaint little restaurant for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted by the hostess at the front who appeared indifferent at our arrival. She treated the guests ahead of us with the same level of indifference and appeared irritated that people had arrived. We were seated relatively quickly however (about 5 minutes), which was a welcome occurrence considering we arrived around noon on a Saturday. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The seats in the area where we were seated appeared to be re-used church pews that had been modified for their use, which gave the restaurant a nice quaint atmosphere. The dining area was a bit cramped, and we actually requested a seat change initially since the first table left me sitting in the isle. Our sever was more than happy to oblige, and seated us in a cozy corner spot with a great view of the establishment. Our server Mike was excellent and offered several suggestions as this was our first time here. During our visit, our water stayed full and we were checked on often throughout the visit. Mike was friendly and accommodating and made the experience a good one. I ordered the gyro and my wife ordered the western omelet which were two of his suggestions. The gyro came with a choice of a few different sides and I chose the sweet potato fries. The gyro was possibly one of the best I have had. The meat was tender and well seasoned and the tzatziki sauce was delicious. The sweet potato fries however were borderline distasteful. I usually enjoy sweet potato fries, however the thick cut of the fries led to them being undercooked and raw. This was unfortunate, because everything else was made to my satisfaction. The gyro was also a great deal at just under ten dollars. I would definitely order it again but choose the regular fries. My wife's omelet was decent, but nothing to write home about. From discussing the food with others who had also eaten here, I would suggest selecting the greek lunch over the breakfast. That is not to say that the breakfast was bad, but I can't say it stood out from the average breakfast food I have had elsewhere. My wife commented that the plating of her food was lacking and appeared to have just been thrown on the plate. A bit of time taken in presentation can sometimes make a world of difference. I also ordered a lemonade, which tasted like the usual mixed or bottled lemonade from the grocery store. I had no issue with it until I discovered that I was charged $2.60 for the ice heavy glass which seemed overpriced. One thing that I think would benefit the establishment is to upgrade their glassware. The atmosphere is quaint and family friendly with a touch of sophistication and it would help to have something nicer than the cheap plastic cups to drink out of. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to a friend under the condition that they order from the greek menu. The service was fantastic minus the hostess, and you can't beat the relaxed quaint environment for a quick brunch in downtown Castle Rock. read more

This is a great, unique building, with a nice patio when warm. We were told to sit in back because the building is very interesting, and it was great advice. Our waitress was fast and full if energy, and extremely polite. For our first time we went for brunch, both had gyro meat and eggs, it was really delicious. It needed a bit of sea salt for seasoning, but besides that, it was good. They even offered me some corn GF tortilla's in replacement of bread. Decided to try this place. Great service and food was delicious. I had the Chilladas, which were basically breakfast enchiladas with beans and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns stole the show. They were crispy and delicious. A must try!!! The only issue i might have is that it was chilly inside. A little heat would have made it a little more inviting and homey, but that won't stop me from trying this place again. 5 stars! read more
