150 mini cupcakes and sugar skull smash cake for Maya's first birthday -- by Hey There, Cupcake!
Jacquelyn Q.

Holy amazing cupcakes, Batman! My daughter's first birthday party will probably go down in history among our friends and family as "the one with the amazing cupcakes." From the moment I contacted Stevi at Hey There, Cupcake! with my idea for a Dia de los Muertos birthday fiesta for my little girl, I knew this would be an epic cupcake event. I told her to run with the theme and that I trusted her expertise. Stevi recommended we have 150 mini cupcakes rather than the full size cupcakes, because the minis are about two bites each and therefore guests could try more than one flavor if they wanted. She emailed and called a few times in the weeks before the party to ensure the flavors, colors and her general design ideas were on track with mine, then she teased me with a texted photo the night before the party with a tiny glimpse of the edge of the main cake that she called a "preview" -- I almost passed out because it was INCREDIBLE! She decided on bright Dia de los Muertos colors and three classic flavor combinations: red velvet with cream cheese frosting, chocolate with white chocolate buttercream and vanilla with fresh raspberry buttercream. My simple palate was beyond pleased with her choices... they were not too fancy, but clearly not "grocery store bakery combinations," either! The day of the party, Stevi arrived right on time and displayed her work without any direction from me. She had her own unique cake stands (including a riser that I thought worked really well on the banquet table) and I have to say, 150 mini cupcakes and one baby's first birthday smash cake have never looked so good! Each mini cupcake had a handmade (delicious!) fondant flower or disc with a "1" on it, or a fresh raspberry or swirl of sprinkles. They were breathtaking! And the smash cake? A to-scale sized sugar skull made of vanilla cake covered in fondant and hand painted and decorated with literally hundreds of tiny details -- the photos do not do it justice! It was an absolute work of art. Every guest at the party was wowed by the cupcake display and kids were begging for a mini cupcake from the moment they walked in. We said, "sure" and before we knew it, half of the table had been cleared by kids and adults licking frosting off their fingers and smiling. We had about fifty guests and not a single cupcake was left over... I would say that speaks for itself. They were SO GOOD! I have had Stevi's cupcakes several times at different events, but this one was just about the best thing ever in my book. We will be calling Hey There, Cupcake again and again for all our baked needs... although I don't know if I can wait for another party to order some more!

The topper is made from sugar!!! Sugar flowers! 2-tier Faire Food cutting cake.

My favorite vendor from our wedding! The cake and cupcakes Stevi created for our special day were beautiful and delicious. The cake was the part I was most looking forward to while planning, and Stevi did not dissapoint! The first draft of the design that Stevi sent blew me away! I could not believe how well she captured what we had discussed at the tasting. I loved it so much, did not want to change a thing! When I saw the cake the day of, O.M.G. it was one of the most stunning things I had ever seen! We did a small 2 tier cutting cake and 75 mini cupcakes. The topper she created was made from sugar...SUGAR! And it looked like real flowers and branches. We went with the Faire Food option for the cutting cake. I wish I had more than one piece at my wedding. We are already planning to order a small cake or batch of cupcakes for our 1 year anniversary. Stevi told us at the tasting that this cake option is not the most popular (probably because it has no chocolate). I knew as soon as I read the description I was going to LOVE this cake. If you like apples and carmel, this cake is for you! For the cupcakes, we had the Raspberry Lemonade, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and then reqested choco-salted carmel (not on the standard menu). All flavors were fabulous (from what I heard, wish I had one of each!). They looked gorgeous. Stevi is a true artist and will bring a unique touch to your event! Cannot thank her enough!!!!

A Cake That'll Make You Say "Well, Hey There!" Stevi is your cake artist and baking goddess! Her beautiful cake made all our guests (including my husband and I) take a double-look and say "well, Hey There lovely"! She has amazing talent, great artistic ability, and the cake tastes divine. Stevi and her Team took the time to understand our vision and nailed the vibe we were going for perfectly. We knew we had to book Hey There, Cupcake quite early during our planning process as we knew she'd make a cake that is truly unique, gorgeous, and a treat for the tastebuds. What really stood out about Hey There, Cupcake: + Very easy process to book a consultation and cake tasting. Do the cake tasting; it's 100% worth it. The hardest part was picking out our top flavors! + Stevi's the only baker we found who had great ingredient textures in the cake (fruit pieces in cake, decadent expresso bean texture, etc) + Stevi really excels and stands out with her beautiful handmade waferpaper art + Very patient and open to listening to your ideas and preferences. Stevi magically manages to mix all your favorite cake ideas into one perfect cake! + Stevi's hand drawn, painted, and gold leaf cake design sketch is amazing! My husband and I framed Stevi's sketch right after our honeymoon. + Responsive to emails and questions during the initial planning process. When it reaches 2-3 months from the wedding, she was really great keeping in contact to nail down all the final decisions. + Stevi has a very unique personality, passion, and charm that definitely comes out in her amazingly unique and beautiful cakes! My husband and I are so happy that we found Hey There, Cupcake. My husband was bouncing off the walls with excitement when he saw the peek-a-boo Ironman! During the planning process, we were struggling to find a baker who's style fit our vision. Once we saw Stevi's portfolio, we knew we'd be in for a truly unique cake and had to book her! Choose Hey There, Cupcake to be part of your special day and your guests will be talking about your cake for weeks to come! Thanks so much again Stevi! xox - Nikkie & Rob

The boysenberry was the perfect separation for the waves of chocolate and the subtle crunch of the hazelnut toffee type of layer on the very top. The chocolate mousse was the exact mouth feel needed to separate the rich layers of chocolate cake. I saw, I conquered, and I was yet again impressed by what Extraordinary Desserts so purposefully and gracefully offered. Also just so everyone is aware they're also liars just to mention & stupid.. she tells us her name is Karen thinking we don't know the owners name lol .. She was at the register at 7:20pm and was extremely rude and dismissive after we placed our order, especially regarding a child's dietary restrictions and health concerns. We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

One would think that, in such dark times, one could still find even a glimpse of hope in an ice cream cone. I was proven wrong, and my outlook on the current state of affairs only dimmed further. I ate my ice cream in two bites. Twenty dollars for two cones, four bites total. I didn't even bother feeding my son the pup cup. He deserves better. The world deserves better. Bigger portions. Bigger smiles. Makes perfect sense, in my humble opinion. I suppose your employees do not agree.
