    Chicken Lo Mein

We were in Galveston for a last getaway for the year. We had been fishing and out in the sun all day and just decided to do take out and enjoy our last night in the room watching a movie and getting ready to leave the next day. Peking Garden was closed by us and even though it had some negative reviews, we decided to take a chance. Glad we did!! We did not do the buffet.... I'm not a fan of Chinese Buffet but instead order off the menu. Which I highly recommend. We got pork egg rolls, Hot and Sour soup, chicken lo mein and Hunan Beef. The Hot and Sour Soup came from the buffet line which was okay with me since our local Chinese buffet place does the same thing but everything else came fresh from the kitchen. All of our dishes were great. Tasty, fresh and enough to feed a family plus some.. It's only the two of us so we had a bunch of leftovers, which was great when we got home... I didn't have to figure out dinner. The meats in both of our dishes were tender and fresh, the veggies were also cooked perfectly with that Wok kiss of tenderness. There were fresh slices of ginger, which made my taste buds smile a little more. The hot chili oil sauce was truly spicy. While I was waiting for our food, I did take a look at the buffet... There's a lot of stuff and I can not review on that but I will say ordering off the menu was the way to go! The only drawback was the printed menu did not have the correct price so the lady at the register had to go in the system when I asked her prices for items. However, she was super nice and very friendly. If I was a resident of Galveston, this would be on our take out rotation!

Food is terrible. The foods are old and dry. They don't throw away old foods. Some foods smell very bad. We don't come back here.

We reserved a private room at the…read morerestaurant for our family to celebrate such an amazing accomplishment over delicious seafood. We were seated promptly as you can see from the photo, we were able to add our own decor to the existing nautical theme at the restaurant. We ordered plenty of shareable apps to pass around and the tuna tartare was a fan favorite among my family. Everyone seemed pretty pleased with their dishes with the exception of the graduate. She ordered a spring roll that actually ended up being a massive deep fried egg roll for some reason, so that was kind of disappointing, especially since it was her special day and all. If nothing else, you have to order the Chilean seabass. It's so buttery and fluffy that you'd forget you were eating fish altogether. My relatives were all taking samples of my entree that it makes you wonder if they should've maybe ordered it as well?????? Hahaha jk, but it was definitely very popular that evening. I ordered this dish along with the lobster bisque and absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal. It was a good time and I think I would return here the next time I'm on the island.

For whatever reason the bartender, Sean, wasn't happy to see us. He asked us if we didn't like our table. Which I thought was weird to ask. Anyhow we did two appetizers once we were able to get Seans attention to order- Mussels and the Crab cake. Both were excellent. We had planned on ordering entrees but Sean never once checked back with us. So, we flagged him down (from 5 feet away) and asked for the tab. So, instead of getting tipped on $150 tab, he got tipped on a $65 tab. My wife and I are both service industry veterans and walk in expecting to drop at least a 25% tip. Sean earned a 15% tip. He cost himself and his employer money. Bartenders should be engaged and as social as they can be. We were the only people seated at the bar and the restaurant was quiet. No reason we should have been ignored.

After countless times coming, I've been meaning to make a review about this place. Everything in…read moretheir menu is something great, with some of my personal favorites being the Homestyle Trio with Eggplant, their Mapo Tofu (off menu, no gatekeeping), their Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup (a wee too spicy for me personally, but I love the simplicity of it), and the General Tso's Chicken. The eggplant dish mentioned is very rich and flavorful, with the eggplant cooked to be soft and almost mushy (but in a good way), nicely complimented by particularly the beef. Their lo mein is a little watery on various occasions, but still maintains a great and very nice flavor. Their fried rice is one of my favorites in the area and is always very well made no matter the time of day. The fried chicken wings, crab puffs, and crab bomber appetizers are both just such standouts in what is often an overlooked part of the menu by many restaurants. I have nothing but praise about how this place handles food. The staff is all really nice and welcoming from entrance to walking out the door. They are very good with order additions or food/allergy restrictions and the dishes always come out in a timely (but not rushed) manner, no matter whether it is a weekday morning or a busy dinner crowd. I'd recommend the lunch special for anyone coming around that time, as the deal of egg rolls, soup, and an entree or 2-3 sushi rolls for a low price is a steal. The ambiance nice for sure and the tables are clean, though I do sometimes get disoriented by the wallpaper they use (I think it's just me though). Whenever this place first opened, I was very disappointed in the restaurant. Meals were salt with a side of meat and rice and was just overall underwhelming. But now, it is one of my family's go to places whenever we need quality food in a short distance. Definitely worth a try, even over other restaurants in the area that serve a similar menu.

Even so, we didn't have to wait for a table for two. The meal was filling. The portion sizes are enough to feed two people. I made some alterations to my order and they were happy to oblige. Our service was great. I could tell the waitress was new and still learning so I worked with her. She now knows that they do have serve a salmon dish that comes with jumbo shrimp, steamed vegetables and the rice of your choice. This dish was pretty good. I could have done without the jumbo jalapeño though. I enjoyed the seaweed salad. It came with a bed of lettuce and a creamy dressing. Not the typical seaweed salad, but enjoyable nonetheless.
