We were in Galveston for a last getaway for the year. We had been fishing and out in the sun all day and just decided to do take out and enjoy our last night in the room watching a movie and getting ready to leave the next day. Peking Garden was closed by us and even though it had some negative reviews, we decided to take a chance. Glad we did!! We did not do the buffet.... I'm not a fan of Chinese Buffet but instead order off the menu. Which I highly recommend. We got pork egg rolls, Hot and Sour soup, chicken lo mein and Hunan Beef. The Hot and Sour Soup came from the buffet line which was okay with me since our local Chinese buffet place does the same thing but everything else came fresh from the kitchen. All of our dishes were great. Tasty, fresh and enough to feed a family plus some.. It's only the two of us so we had a bunch of leftovers, which was great when we got home... I didn't have to figure out dinner. The meats in both of our dishes were tender and fresh, the veggies were also cooked perfectly with that Wok kiss of tenderness. There were fresh slices of ginger, which made my taste buds smile a little more. The hot chili oil sauce was truly spicy. While I was waiting for our food, I did take a look at the buffet... There's a lot of stuff and I can not review on that but I will say ordering off the menu was the way to go! The only drawback was the printed menu did not have the correct price so the lady at the register had to go in the system when I asked her prices for items. However, she was super nice and very friendly. If I was a resident of Galveston, this would be on our take out rotation!

It's a nice space and is decently sized. We sat at the bar, and HH prices are available in the entire restaurant. Happy hour is M-F from 4pm-7pm. This happy hour did not disappoint. Great food and great value. Happy hour wine is $5.25. Draft beers are $5 and imports are $4.25. We shared an Italian Salad for $11.75 (it's not on happy hour and a pic is attached). It was really good and we really enjoyed it. The real star of the show was the catfish. We got it fried and the HH price was $6.25 (pic attached). It was amazing and they give you an ample amount. We even got another order to go. The bartender/waiter was very friendly and provided good service. This place is a must try for happy hour.

We arrived here on a Tuesday during happy hour when the drinks are pretty cheap. They do have a handful of craft beers on tap and they do have a full bar, even frozen margaritas. I got the shrimp plate and my wife decided on the expensive red snapper which was about $38. The snapper was wonderfully fried and absolutely delicious she said. My shrimp plate lived up to expectations. My 8 ounce frozen margaritas were also worth every penny. Two things I was surprised not to see, there is no fish and chips plate other than catfish, and they do not have any vinegar. If you're looking to have a private party, they actually have an enclosed room off to the side which can fit quite a few people. It's tough to get five stars out of me, but they definitely have the right formula working for them here with great food at a great price with good service. I also like the fact they don't charge you 3% for using a credit card. Definitely one of the best spots on the island to get your seafood fix.

Our granddaughter on the other-hand - (9) - exclaimed upon walking in that she thought she was on the Titanic ; ) I found the wood finishes and vintage photos rich and nicely done. Granddaughter thoroughly loved her oysters for dinner and our grandsons raved about their dishes too. My wife and I shared the Gulf Shrimp and Catfish platters - both fresh and fried to perfection. Appetizers of fried crab fingers and the lump crab meat with avocado had us from the start along with the starter bread - which one could eat their weight in - so pace yourself - wonderfully delicious. Pleasant attentive staff and hostesses. Highly recommend you enjoy this Galveston landmark !

Price was not a consideration for our date night. Problem number one was there was no oil for the bread, then we were asked if we wanted any rather than them kindly bringing it out for us. We would need the bread because with a reservation it took over an hour for the food to come out. After taking a ten minute walk to the seawall, the wine had finally arrived, ridiculously priced. By the time the food came out, it was nothing you could find any place else. My wife ordered the sampler platter, and it was bland and frankly just not very good. It came with a large portion of rice, I guess the wanted to fill you up on rice. I just ordered a Greek salad and a dozen grilled oysters, after asking for Oysters Rockefeller, they said they didn't have but it was quite identical. Yes, it was the off season but it was horrible. They delivery boy even failed to bring a fork for the oysters. Again, this is after waiting for an hour and $164.00 later, it was far from what I had expected at that price point. I don't like to leave "bad" reviews, but this is a matter of fact. It should have so much better. I would have picked the San Luis.

Put a bad taste in our mouth on this place, we had heard good. There was a busser, with rainbow hair and was very kind, polite, and friendly during our meal. It says something about when the table busser is more polite than the checker. It was our first time and we weren't aware of the ordering: for those who aren't aware, you order and find a seat wherever you can, and the servers bring out your food to you. Not what we expected but wasn't bad. Overall, I'd have better more friendly staff working the check stand, Jacqueline needed an attitude adjustment, but the lady with colorful hair bussing tables deserves a raise! Edit: There was a lady that had slipped and fell right at the entrance of the door, and the 3 hostess at the stand were just sitting on their phone. They could have given less of a sh*t. People were asking for the manager and they just looked at the people helping without a glance up from their phone. Terrible. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you care about service and hospitality. Manager needs to do better with employees and training.
