You can purchase crabs off the boats on the pier and this wonderful roadside service will cook and clean them for you for $15. Great friendly customer service and had them done in 20 minutes.

Yeah, I get why this place has an average of 3.5 star reviews. We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 3PM, and it was not very crowded, but the tables were quite dirty. My parents had recommended this place(They had visited about 1.5 years ago saying this place was amazing. They had Halibut fish and chips and recommended it, but they didn't have Halibut on the menu this time). When we went to order, there was no one at the window, just a sign that said they'd be back, so we waited, and waited, until about 3 other groups showed up ready to order too. It seemed like she was doing everything, and occupied so often that she wasn't able to be at the window. Makes me wonder if maybe she's being overworked or if someone called out. We ordered: - Singaporean Pub fish and chips(the only fish and chip option available) for $21- (2/5) The fish was dry and flavorless, like it was grocery store cod pulled out of the packet and fried. The batter was thick, but not terrible. They seemed to cushion the meal with a disproportionate amount of fries. It used to be a good amount of fish and less fries, now it's the opposite. I was hoping for good fish and chips after missing the ones from the UK, but this was so disappointing! - Polynesian Fish Burrito for $17 - Last I remembered, Polynesians used spices. I chose this based on the description, it sounded like it woukd be delicious, but it wasn't! It was also small and bland. This arguably may be the worst fish burrito I've ever had... On top of that, the dry fish wasn't ideal along with the rice. Also, now that I think about it, this may be the most expensive fish taco I've ever had. Also, no water, you can buy a bottle of water. However, you cab walk to the restroom and they have a water fountain. She also gave us way less ketchup in ratio for fries, so I went to go ask for more and she wasn't at the window again. I waited another 15 mins for a handful of ketchup... Yeah, there are so many other delicious shops in this area, I'd skip this place and go elsewhere. I did see a lot of folks purchase crabs from the boats on the dock and have this place boil it for them for $10. It seem that was the most popular food choice here.

I am unsure how to rate this... Fish and chips were good. Crunchy fresh fish and I also like the fries' seasoning. Clam chowder- has a lot of ingredients- potatoes, corn kernels and the usual ones, but it is a little watery for me. Seafood platter- this broke the deal for me. the sauce were delicious, and the corn, potatoes, sausage and shrimps were all delightful. I do feel ripped off though, the picture I have attached for the seafood platter cost $60, with a lot of the other ingredients except the shrimp. Also, they called it seafood platter, the only seafood there was the shrimp. They did say it was the base one and if you want more seafood, then you can add more but will also cost more. The ambiance is good though... you're eating at a table with a table-fireplace while looking at the ocean... but everywhere you go in HMB you can get that ambiance.

Our go to spot whenever we visit Half Moon Bay! I like the updates made to this place. It's clean and spacious with the additional patio furniture. Although service is a bit slow, the food is still very good. I got the calamari and chips this time and it was delicious.

Stopped by the harbor to pick up a Dungeness crab. Couldn't find any on a boat, so came here. Staff was friendly and went out of their way to help us find a good crab (we were looking for a 2lb-er). They also helped inform us of cooking instructions. The only disappointing thing was we paid full price for a crab with one baby claw. We didn't realize it until we got home. Minor oversight. Would still happily come back here again when in the area.

We were staying within walking distance from here and wanted some fresh seafood. We actually ended up visiting twice during the weekend and took some seafood home with us. The product was excellent. Only loses one star because the staff seemed under-trained. On our first visit the clerk had to make multiple calls to someone to find out how to ring up our fish. On the second visit, we were almost given the wrong fish, but thankfully a senior employee corrected the choice from the fillet case.

Why Supporting Local Matters! This is what happens when you shop local - you get an EXPERIENCE, not just a transaction! Stopped by Pelagic Fish Market in Half Moon Bay on Saturday and was absolutely blown away by Hector and Sean's hands-on, stellar service. Hector expertly shucked two dozen gorgeous oysters right in front of me while Sean set me up with ice and sauces, and they even surprised me with complimentary bread and a few extra oysters to enjoy while prepping for my guests! The market was impeccably clean, the seafood was pristine, and the genuine care they showed made all the difference. Saturday we feasted on these beauties followed by cioppino and prime rib! Hector - what a pleasure meeting you, and such an honor to make my purchase with you. THIS is the kind of personal service and community connection you simply can't get anywhere else. Half Moon Bay friends and visitors - do yourself a favor and visit Pelagic Fish Market. You'll taste the difference that local, passionate vendors make. #SupportLocal #HalfMoonBay #PelagicFishMarket #ShopSmall #CommunityFirst #FreshSeafood #LocalBusiness #CoastalCalifornia

Battered fish has too much batter. Ordered "seafood" tray but it only had shrimp abd a lot of potatoes. This is their basic, which is already overpriced, and to add a different type of seafood, then you need to pay more. Ambiance is outstanding, eating in front of the bay and yatchs.

One of the owners thought our baby was cute and gave him a bear suit. Very kind gesture. Totally unexpected.

Ohhh man they have an amazing array of delicious fresh fish, crab and even octopus. The place was clean, and the staff was helpful. They have a crab cooker on site and they prepare the fish or crab if you request it. Great local spot to get your fish as direct from the source as possible.

The seafood platter, garlic butter style, is a destination dish for me. Meaning I would travel far to get it. Very friendly staff and amazing location at the HMB harbor.

    Scallop aguachile

The new menu at the Pelagic Cantina is great, the steak burrito was massive, you definitely get your money's worth and the steak was really incredible. Scallops were really fresh and had great flavor. Excited to try more, overall super pleased with the vibe and flavor!

Curious about what the new/old place is like, our three-person family went there for a late breakfast today. Walking up to the front doors, the original inset stained glass remains. Walking in, the cool wood paneling and nautical decor remains in place with a couple of new touches. The fully appointed bar also remains, now with a more streamlined look with subtle lighting changes. We were greeted pleasantly and seated inside the dining room immediately; it was moderately busy and buzzing, not too loud. Our server was quick to our table, menu-knowledgeable and consistent in his attention to us. We had a Denver omelette, a couple of bennies and lemon ricotta pancakes to share. My omelette had particularly fresh and al fresca peppers and onions - wonderful. The lemon ricotta pancakes were sufficiently saturated and fluffy(hard to pull off)and came with fresh cream. The prices were at about the same level as the local competition, which pleasantly surprised us. It appears that the folks who did this breakfast/lunch reboot were shrewd in pricing their dishes. Jetty Wave, a drinks and appetizers adventure(which I heartily recommend as well for different reasons)in the northwestern part of Princeton, is not for the fiscally faint hearted. The only element that makes our experience short of a 5 is that we were not given a farewell when we left, though I was able to find our friendly server and thanked him. In all, the Joanne's legacy is intact - the old carved wood Ketch Joanne sign still hangs inside - literally and figuratively a homage to its legacy while bringing a new energy to this space. Recommended.

We stopped by for lunch on a crisp day, and it completely captured that perfect coastal vibe--think fresh seafood, laid-back atmosphere, and killer views of the boats and water. We started with the calamari, which was hands-down some of the best I've ever had: tender, not rubbery at all, perfectly seasoned and fried, melting in your mouth. The New England-style clam chowder was rich, creamy, with just the right subtle smokiness and balanced seasoning--definitely lives up to Half Moon Bay's chowder reputation. For mains, the Dungeness crab sandwich was the star: generous lumps of sweet local crab, minimal sauce (just how I like it), on toasted sourdough with fries on the side. My partner went with the fish and chips, and the cod was crispy, flaky, and not greasy at all--classic done right. The outdoor patio with fire pits was cozy even in cooler weather, and our server was super friendly, attentive, and full of local recommendations. The place feels welcoming, whether you're a regular from the Coastside or just passing through after a beach walk or harbor stroll. Prices are fair for the fresh, quality ingredients and location--definitely worth it. We've already added it to our list for the next trip to Half Moon Bay. Highly recommend if you're craving solid seafood in a charming harborside setting! 5/5 stars.
