I'm not exactly a fan of Asian food. I usually crave Asian food once every couple of months. This place is pretty good though. It has both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. I have ordered from both menus. I enjoy dining inside. I always go solo. It's usually never busy in there- most of their business is due to take out orders or deliveries. This place has been around forever though. My go-to dish is usually "Chicken with garlic sauce". I also enjoy eating an egg roll occasionally or the the crab ragoon, however, the last time I was there (about two weeks ago) the egg roll tasted like it was fried in old oil. Gross. I've also ordered various rolls from here. Solid, nothing outstanding but gets the job done. A huge plus is that they give fried wonton chips to start on the table and complimentary Jasmine tea. I've also ordered delivery a few times but one time they completely screwed up my order so I prefer now to only dine inside. Service is pretty standard. Not overly friendly, but they get the job done. I would give this place 4 stars but knocked off one star for a score of 3 because sometimes I question the cleanliness of some staff. read more

Every once in a while, you probably have a hankering for Chinese food. Nothing will suppress that urge quite as fast as a meal from Pelham Palace. It is the main Chinese restaurant in Pelham, so we have had food from Pelham Palace on a good number of occasions. Still, looking back, I cannot imagine why. In fact, looking back, it's remarkable to me that this place is still in the business of slinging food. The sad fact is that even though they are in the restaurant business, their food is irredeemably not good. They must know this; why they don't go out and hire someone competent to run the kitchen and do a re-boot is beyond me. I guess they must own their building (no worries about rent increases) and are able to rely on occasional inexplicable repeat business from idiots like me. You could do better almost anywhere else (most of the time we drive to some nearby town rather than get food from Pelham Palace). Word to the wise... Would have given 1.5 stars if the system had allowed. read more

This is the place my boyfriend, his family, and I would go to for celebrating special occasions, while staying locally. Decor is nice and service is always friendly. Since Pelham is a small town, they even know you by name and face and would ask how your family is doing. Menu is extensive and consists of Chinese and some Thai and Japanese dishes. This is more of an "upscale" Chinese restaurant in Pelham and prices are a bit higher. A MUST that we always order is the crab rangoons. It is so delicious! It's a crunchy wonton with a full creamy cheese filling. The surprising touch to it is the fresh pineapple pieces that complement the cream cheese so well. Pains me to give this review because I live in pelham and want to support our businesses but... I can't lie The food is not good and the prices are high. It really is fast Chinese food at a premium price. The teriyaki they serve is kind of gross and their stir fry also is tasteless. The sushi is also very very very mediocre and another reviewer said this : a lot of the seafood they use is way past the expiration date and just taste disgusting. I really hope the owner realizes that Pelhamites aren't afraid to pay for quality.... If they just made better food, more people would come. I think the staff are really nice but are they really proud of serving food like that....? read more

I live close by. I've eaten here once in person and ordered take out once for a group of 10 people. The food is Panda Express quality, but the price at least 50% higher than a take out joint. Some of the dishes were gross (do not order the sweet and sour anything) and some of the dishes were decent. Despite it's proximity, I don't plan on ever going back. read more

Last time I went the sushi they served me was way past the expiration date. I'm not one to return menu items, but I made an exception in this case. When I told the waitress that the sushi was bad and that I wanted to return it instead of apologizing/trying to correct the situation, she says: "maybe you full and now don't want to eat". They still charged me for the item in the check and I had to ask for the manager. Manager was just as awful. That will be the last time I go. read more

Got food poisoning from eating here. When I went back in to tell the big lady who stands by the front door (owner or owner's wife)... she basically treated me like dirt. If this was an Italian place to eat - they would have given me a free coupon - apologized - free lunch - etc.... I wasn't looking for anything free. JUst wanted to give them a heads up on what we ate and how three people at the same table got sick. They don't care. It's also a cultural thing about saving face which to me is bad PR. Admit you made a mistake and start by making your customer feel good - instead of yelling at them or treating them like liars. The bathrooms are disgusting. I read somewhere that the bathroom is a telling sign of what the kitchen is like. If this is so their kitchen must be disgusting as well. Stay away from this place at all costs. read more

I've been coming to this place since I was a child. It's probably my favorite place to get Asian food. I almost always order the chicken and broccoli, but anytime I've decided to go out of my comfort zone, the food is still great. Chicken and broccoli is always great and you probably think you can't mess that up, but sadly I've been to places that have. Their chicken and broccoli is so good that I've had it two days later and it tastes even better. General Tso chicken is great too. My boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian chicken with walnuts and really enjoyed it. It came inside a large fried wonton. My parents love the lo mein and the garlic chicken. The tea they give you is great and my favorite part of the meal. The place is almost always quiet and food arrives fast and hot. The parking lot is small though so you may have to find street parking. They take cash and credit. The staff is very attentive and friendly. As long as all of this remains the same I will be a customer forever read more

This used to be the go-to chinese spot for my local family. Nowadays it's just been below average. The staff is beyond rude with their "better then you" attitude and all about money. Now, I dont have a problem with paying for good food but the quality is unbelievably bad and the prices are absurd! Can't even explain how low grade the sushi is. I am also upset at the fact that for 2 small orders of sesame chicken, a spicy tuna roll, and seaweed salad was $58....well, actually $56, I was lied to and realized when i looked at my receipt at home. Ok...maybe I'm just jaded as a New York City native, but I ordered sushi from this place and it was below average. The fish was obviously old and low quality. The fisherman I was eating with, someone who has supplied Nobu, confirmed this fact. The low quality, however, was not reflected in the prices, which were about on par with any city sushi bar. If you are fiending for sushi and don't feel like leaving the Pelham area, this place is passable, otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Food is decent we love the steamed vegetable dumplings however a little pricey but could be the area. Staff is not friendly they are abrupt and pushy and just rush you in and out. I've never eaten at the restaurant. We usually order take out or delivery. This is probably the closest to authentic Chinese food in the immediate area. I think the food is less greasy compared to some of the other local establishments and they also have some traditional chinese vegetables like bok choy and chinese broccoli. I once asked if they every carry other greens and they said they could get them with advance notice. I haven't used this service yet, but I may do so if I get cravings for pea shoots. It's a little pricy compared to some of the other locations, but this is still our go-to chinese delivery in Pelham. read more

Pelham Palace is essentially fast food Chinese at a premium price. The quality of many of the items is poor to fair and in many cases not as good as some take out places. For the first time tonight I ordered the Steak Teriyaki, and it was dry and tasteless... Not impressive at all for a $17 entree. for quality Chinese food look elsewhere. read more

Full disclosure: I can count on one hand the amount of times I've eaten Chinese food in my life thus far. I was never a big fan, and the places near me are mostly small takeout restaurants. So when my friends convinced me to go to Pelham Palace on a Sunday afternoon, I had no idea what to expect. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones in the restaurant at that time--around 2pm on Sunday--and the staff was very attentive to us. Maybe a little too attentive, because it felt like there was always one waitress by our table at any given moment, watching us from about 6 feet away. Anyway, they put Jasmine tea on the table, which was very good, and brought out the usual duck sauce with noodles, which were also good--by my standards, because again, I'm not a Chinese food aficionado. We ordered from the menu, which had a solid selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes, and I kept it simple with the chicken and mixed vegetables dish (rice was included). The dinner size portions were generous, and I had enough food to bring home a doggy bag. The vegetables and chicken were fresh, albeit the chicken seemed a little too chewy for me (could be a sensory quirk on my part, though). We sat next to a pretty fish tank, and the decor made the place feel more like a home than a restaurant (vaguely reminiscent of Emilio up in Harrison, except Pelham Palace looks less homely). Prices seemed fair, and the place was CLEAN, too. I would go back--and I probably will. read more

This is the second time we've gone here. The first time, we had just moved to NY and we weren't impressed. After being here a while, I thought we'd give it another try. Maybe we got lucky, but this go 'round was fine. I'd give it one more star but I still think the prices are at least 20% too high. Service was attentive. Menu is large! Food was good: shrimp and veggie tempura, sesame beef, and a spider roll. Decor could use a good scrub and some updating. Waitstaff would be more convincing if they weren't wearing cargo pants. (Hey, it all counts!) We've only been for dinner, maybe next time it will be for lunch. read more

No napkins included in lunch special. wanted to substitute bean curd for something else "we don't do that". Giving this place one star because Yelp won't let me write a review without a star. This has got to be one of the worst places I have ever dealt with and let me tell you why, staff is disgustingly nasty but that's not the main reason. My staff and I ordered lunch, we had explained someone had a fish allergy and they sent her roll with fish in the container i had called and explained what happened and they refused to send the other roll after we had paid for it. 4 hours later they finally sent it but it was tough to get that roll. Today i ordered takeout and I have never been disrespected in this way. I gave him a 6 dollar tip on 46.40 and his response was a laugh and asked if I worked at a pizzeria. I said yes and he said no wonder, now i realize 20% was not given but Service isn't spectacular and with takeout I don't feel the need to give the full 20%. We also ordered lunch and they did not give us our salads or soups. Thanks Pelham palace for always being a disappointment, at least consistency is something they do well.
