We went to The Source to look for K-Pop merchandise and decided to have lunch while there. I appreciate that The Source always has plentiful and free parking in their parking garage. There was no wait when we entered Pelicana for lunch on a Saturday, and you can order directly from the tablet on the table. Service was friendly with water refills offered. Water and cabbage salad are brought to the table upon entering. The cabbage was good though the sauce very mayonnaise heavy for me. We ordered a half order of crispy chicken in garlic sauce, a pasta dish, kimchi udon, and sweet potato fries to share. While I liked that the garlic sauce was super garlicky, it was a bit too sweet for me. The pasta sauce was also on the sweeter side. It also took a while for the food to come out, but that is usually the case for Korean fried chicken as it takes time to double fry the chicken. The chicken was indeed super crispy and delicious. Sweet potato fries were yummy and the kimchi udon spicy but tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was large, spacious, and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices were fair and portions good. I like how many sauce and chicken choices there are at Pelicana compared to some other Korean fried chicken chains. Overall, highly recommend Pelicana!
Its really a no brainer: Pelicana is hands down the BEST korean fried chicken in SoCal. Not only is the QUALITY of these wings extremely superb, the flavor and taste and overall meal is absolutely worth the trip. Since they closed the City of Industry location, I come to the Buena Park one quite often w my co-workers, and its an sbsolute treat. We always see the same waiter who is the nicest person, always receives us with a smile and usually gives us the best seats. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like this location but I feel its not big enough sometimes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wait on the weekends can be super long, and if uve experienced this BE PATIENT. I swear the wait is worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If u want fo watch a game this place has the sports bar vibe but with actual great food included.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wish I didnt have such high cholesterol sometimes cause I could eat this every day.
Pelicana is located at the Source mall on the first floor. They have a QR waitlist system and so you can waitlist and walk around until your table is ready. When I got the portion, I was surprised. The sauces were good, but the garlic was drenched with breading and not enough chicken. They also have beer and soju. The service was alright.
Haven't been here is many years yet I felt underwhelmed? No line and many tables open but our server told us to sign up via waitlist (we were also the only ones on the waitlist). Waitlist app did not notify us when our table was ready, had to go in 10 minutes later after the app said we had already been seated. Table was already set up with waters and cabbage salad, that was nice. We ordered on the screen connected to our table and waited for what felt like a while for our food (maybe longer than two people should for an empty restaurant who ordered 1 order of 9 wings to share.) We ordered the garlic bone in wings half order regular style, if you go I recommend ordering the crispy option, our wings were crispy but the sauce felt like it started to change the crispiness level. Flavor was good though! No issues there. Not sure if we'll come back, we don't live close by, but it's a good place to start if you've never had korean fried chicken.
We went on a Saturdays afternoon and were able to be seated right away. Our server had our plates and salad ready once we sat. It was my first time at this location and it was solid. We got beef dumplings and signature sauce crispy wings. The dumplings were perfectly crunchy and juicy. The swings had lots of sauce but felt it was a little too sweet. The wings were cooked to be the right amount of crunchy yet juicy. They had a table side ordering tablet so that made it easy to select and look through the food we wanted. Our food came fairly quickly and our server was attentive to when we needed more water or napkins.
Amazing chicken wings!! I ordered the crispy wings without sauce to really gauge the natural flavor so the sauce doesn't mask it and it was very well seasoned. And it was so crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Perfection!! They have a little screen pad on the table to order and your order comes cooked to order!! Will definitely come back here to try their other offerings!
I have been on a mission to find the best Korean fried wings and I think I may have just found them. They are crispy with each bite and the house sauce is so tasty. The kimchi rice was really good and was a good combo with the wings to fill me up. I've been here twice and can see myself coming back soon to have more delicious wings. Loved it!
First time trying this chicken spot and it was great! The menu is posted outside however when you are seated, the items are ordered through a tablet, installed on the table. It is great and organized and fast. The food is warm and well done. I was watching the first half of the knicks and spurs game, paid for my meal the server continued to refill my drink, free of charge. If this isn't great service , I don't know what else is!? [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is great and family friendly and it's a relaxing indoor/outdoor environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is recommended with a 10/10 food and service and great waiters!
Tried out Pelicana for the first time. We came at noon and got seated right away. They use tablets at each table so you order yourself (very Korean style). We ordered the signature whole chicken ($31) which took about 15 min to come out. They served coleslaw and waters first. The chicken was crispy and tender. Lots of dark and white meat. We had to pack a few pieces left over. Staff wasn't hard to flag down for the bill and more water.

Pelicana Chicken is just as good as I remember it being in South Korea. Juicy and crunchiness perfect for smothering in their big variety of sauces - exactly how Korean fried chicken should be. Their combo sets are also great for sharing. We ordered the couples combo and added some extra items for our kids. It ended up being the perfect amount of food for everyone with leftovers for home. Will absolutely be back. I will say though that while we loved their signature sauce, their soy sauce was just salt-overload. We hardly touched it, and even our kids couldn't stand how salty it was. Their rose tteokbokki was mediocre (nothing too special here) and it comes with ssal tteok, a detail we wish would have been mentioned in the menu. Not our favorite. Their signature sauce was absolutely mouthwatering, hence the 4 stars.

I've been teetotaling lately, so I didn't partake in any drinking on this visit, which admittedly took a bit away from the overall experience. Korean fried chicken just hits differently when paired with beer or soju. Corn Cheese: 6/10 - Didn't quite land for me. I'm not sure if it was the type of cheese used, but it didn't compare to the corn cheese I've had at other spots. Spicy Tteokbokki: 7/10 - Good flavour overall, but there was barely any fish cake, which was a bit disappointing. Cheese Fries: 6/10 - Fries were cooked well and not overly soggy, but the cheese powder (reminiscent of Lotteria-style seasoning) was a bit too overwhelming. I had to stop after a few bites. Chicken: 8/10 - The highlight of the meal. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, with tender and juicy meat inside.

This meal was an absolute feast. Before we even ordered, our server brought out waters and a bowl of cabbage salad for the table. It's a small gesture, but it immediately made us feel welcomed. We decided to go with one of the combo meals, which came with boneless crispy fried chicken, cheese tteokbokki, and fried potstickers. We also added an order of corn cheese because... how could we not? The chicken lived up to the hype. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and coated in a sauce that had me licking my fingers without shame. The cheese tteokbokki was exactly what I was hoping for. Chewy rice cakes swimming in a rich, spicy, cheesy sauce that kept me coming back for another bite. The corn cheese deserves its own paragraph because wow... I understand why Korean restaurants serve this. Sweet corn covered in gooey melted cheese is one of those dishes that sounds simple but somehow disappears before you realize it. The fried potstickers rounded everything out nicely and added another crispy bite to the meal. And because apparently we hadn't eaten enough, we finished with Dippin' Dots for dessert. It was such a fun way to end the meal and brought back a little childhood nostalgia. Overall, the portions were generous, the food came out hot, and the whole spread looked as good as it tasted. This is definitely a place I'll be coming back to whenever the Korean fried chicken craving hits. read more

This was our first time trying Pelicana Chicken, and we were really impressed. We ordered the garlic and soy chicken wings, and both were packed with flavor. The garlic has a little kick to it, while the soy ended up being my favorite. The sauce was savory, slightly sweet, and somehow the wings stayed incredibly crispy even after being coated. Next time I'd love to try the honey soy, and eventually work my way through all of the different flavors. The wings themselves are nice and meaty, so you definitely get your money's worth. We also ordered both the deep-fried gizzard and the stir-fried gizzard. They're completely different dishes, but both were excellent. The stir-fried version comes with jalapeños, garlic, and onions, and it was absolutely delicious. Be warned though--the jalapeños bring some serious heat. If you like spicy food, it's so worth ordering. The deep-fried gizzard was just as good. It comes with a smoky, spicy dipping sauce, but honestly it doesn't even need it because it's flavorful all on its own. My only small complaint is the portion size of the gizzards. They're huge. One order of the deep-fried gizzard is around $24 and could easily be shared by four or five people as an appetizer. For just a couple, I wish they offered a smaller portion at a lower price. After trying the gizzards, I have a feeling the original crispy wings would be delicious even without sauce. That said, the sauces we tried were so flavorful that I'd probably keep ordering them. The soy in particular was outstanding, and I loved that the wings stayed extra crispy from the first bite to the last. We'll definitely be back to try more flavors. read more

Love Pelicana! It's one of my family's favorite wing places. Their chicken is always tender and juicy and tastes fresh. Their appetizers are good, especially their fries. Ordered for pick up and service was awful!!!!! I walked in and informed the cashier I was here for pick up. My order was "ready by 7:15" and why did I pick it up 7:50?? While I waited I asked three different employees about my order and they all said it would be ready shortly without even actually knowing. I saw people come in and out picking up food. I saw an employee taking someone's order take out order and I was waiting to ask about mine. He ended up getting busy doing whatever he was doing. I turned around and found my order on the table. The entire wait was awful. I don't mind waiting, if you give me an allotted wait time. No one knew the status of my order because they were busy with their in-store customers or doing whatever else. Pup friendly patio! First time at a Pelicana and after today's experience, definitely will not be my last. The original fried chicken is delicious, scrumptious, crunchy and juicy. Ddukbboki was tasty, very good heat and the perfect chewiness. Service was top notch as well. Very considerate waitstaff. Pelicana Chicken never disappoints! This must be our fourth visit, and every time the food has been consistently on point, perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We tried the rose tteokbokki this time, and it was a total hit. The truffle fries were okay this round, the truffle flavor was on the lighter side but once we dipped them into the rose tteokbokki sauce, it was pure heaven. Pair it all with an ice-cold beer, and you've got the perfect way to kick off the weekend. We were seated outside, and our server checked on us regularly. He was kind, quick, and always serving with a smile. The kind of attentive service that makes dining out such a pleasant experience. Even the manager (assumed the manager, he was dressed in slacks and a white dress shirt) stopped by our table to make sure everything was great, which we truly appreciated. Pelicana has definitely become our go-to spot for Korean fried chicken. Whether it's a cozy family dinner or a fun night out with friends, they always deliver a happy tummy and good vibes. read more

Please note that this is a super old review back from when I came here during the Honkai: Star Rail fan kick off event and it was not...well handled. I'm going to be fairly objective and give them a lot of leeway because I understand they'd never done a collaboration like this before and probably never dealt with a crowd this large. My friends and I arrived around 10am, and there was already like 100 people in front of us. And surprisingly the line was already moving, slowly but it was moving which I appreciated. Seemed they opened up earlier to prep as they knew more people would be coming as the collab event started one day before. Unfortunately, when I made my order they didn't allow me to choose any sauce toppings for my chicken. Probably because they were slammed with orders...But it still sucked not getting to even have the choice? Like I would've appreciated even the option to have some on the side so they don't have to wait man power mixing the chicken and sauce, but nope. Just no sauce. And I paid for the combo collaboration meal set which was $50+, so not cheap. I actually think the chicken wings were really delicious even without the sauce, lightly spicy and flavorful and juicy with a crunchy outside. The chicken drumsticks were kind of atrocious though. It was tough and mostly breading, an experience shared between all the meals my friends that attended the event with me had. We also all agreed the fries were just...bad. They were so sad and tasteless and while not floppy weren't crispy either. I've seen the fries in photos and other locations which look really, really good. Most of our friend group didn't like the mochi cheese balls either. They were just overly sweet and chewy, not crispy at all. I don't know if that's what they're supposed to be like, but...my husband and I just ended up not eating these. Overall, this was really expensive for what we got. Wasn't worth it for over half the food to be subpar. I understand it's due to the amount of orders they had, so I just hope that if they ever participate in other collaborations they somehow come up with a ticketing system for each day so they can maintain some level of food quality especially since we're paying premium prices as customers. read more
1st floor of The Source Mall. I got the table combo of 3-4 people for $70 base rate. Really worth it, there was a good amount of left over food. Crispy Banban 18 Wings (Soy Garlic) with 2 cups of radish: Apparently the soy and garlic are the same flavor. Not sure why they have those flavors listed differently on the ipad. It also comes automatically with 10 wings of original no sauce and then 8 wings soy garlic flavored. Plenty enough wings for the whole group. Regular Ddukbokki: More on the sweeter side. Ddukbokki was soft and chewy. Corn cheese: Very gooey and melted with mozzarella. Standard corn cheese plate. Truffle Fries: Fried with truffle oil, there's no shaved truffle on top of the fries. Twisted Donut: Very soft and bouncy like mochi dough. read more

Food was great, and Alex was wonderful... but unfortunately our experience with Joanne ended the night on a sour note. Alex was extremely helpful and patient, especially when assisting us with ordering through the table kiosk. He was attentive, checked in on us regularly, and made sure everything was going well. The food itself was delicious -- the non-marinated original was definitely my favorite. Up until the end, we were having a great experience. Things changed when Joanne brought us the check while we were still eating and drinking. I asked if there was a time limit, and she told us it was two hours. I then asked if we had been there that long, and she said we were "almost" at two hours and walked away. After waiting a few minutes for her to return so we could pay, I went to the register instead. I also asked them to confirm how long we had actually been there. We were told we had only been there for about 1.5 hours, and that we were welcome to finish up -- so it wasn't the two hours we had been told. After we had already paid and were packing up our food, Joanne came back to "apologize." She began with an apology but then stated that the policy was actually 90 minutes, not two hours. I explained that we had no issue complying -- we just hadn't been informed correctly. Unfortunately, the conversation felt less like an apology and more like we were being blamed for breaking a policy that had been communicated inaccurately. She continued to interrupt and talk over us, which made the situation more uncomfortable. Overall, the food and Alex's service were excellent. However, the handling of the time-limit situation and the follow-up interaction left a disappointing final impression. read more

Love that you can order on the tablet on the table so you can see all the options with pictures! Got ban ban - original and soy garlic. Garlic fries. Do know that ban ban is an entire chicken! I came here and got their half crispy chicken which was nice. You order by yourself on one of those iPad kiosk provided on each table so there wasn't really any customer service provided. The chicken tasted piping hot and very fresh. The chicken came with sweet radish and a salad. The radishes tasted great with the chicken. But the salad with the mayo on top was meh to me, I would've preferred the cabbage salad without the mayo. Ambiance wasn't too bad and it was relatively clean. What I didn't really like was that if you wanted any sauces, they were individually priced for $2 for the size of a ketchup packet which I didn't really want at that point. They sell Dippin Dots which is pretty dope after eating. read more

I got on the wait-list via the iPad at 12:35pm and got the text to come back after confirming I'm still at the source 19 minutes later. You have 5 minutes to confirm once you receive the second text from them otherwise you forfeit your spot on the wait-list but I was able to confirm and not get kicked off once I replied in 7 minutes of receiving the text. By 12:54pm they were sold out of steamed rice. You put in your order via iPad at the table. If you need the server you can click Call Staff on the iPad. It took 2-3 tries before the staff got to our table. Wish there were more frequent water refills. Also felt like they were understaffed. There's a mini trash bin on the table for your trash and chicken bones. Highly recommend the cheese ddeokbokki and soy chicken wings. I will not make the mistake of getting signature next time. It's not bad but it just didn't hit like the soy chicken wings. I also wish they had refilled our complimentary cabbage salad. The amount of food from 9 soy wings, 9 signature wings, and 1 cheese ddeokbokki was a lot for 4 people. We got leftovers and those were still tasty later. I would come back for the food but most likely I would rather just get it to go. read more
I believe this is a franchise since we have a Pelican here in San Diego too. We only went in for a takeout order that we were able to order off the screen. It did take pretty long for a small order of chicken to come out for my son. Close to 30 minutes. I also thought he was getting a mix of wings and drums but he got random thigh and breast pieces a lot so that was kind of not mentioned on the menu. read more

My bf and I decided to get take out after the movies. Decided to give this place a try and got the whole ban ban chicken with half original and half signature. It was pretty good and it's around 30ish dollars which isn't bad at all for the portion you get. We also got some truffle fries which were I believe maybe $7-8? I ordered the 18-piece crispy fried wings, and while they were indeed crispy, they had almost no flavor at all. The wings tasted overwhelmingly like old frying oil, which made them pretty unpleasant to eat. It really seems like the oil needed to be changed. For a place that's on the pricier side and carries a four-star rating, I was expecting much better. As you can see from the photo, the chicken wasn't even fried to a proper golden brown.
