Four days after I returned, I realized that I had left an item in the room. I reached out to see if they could locate it, and Matthew immediately got back to me. He found the item, helped confirm that it was indeed the item I left, and immediately put in motion a process that will allow me to get it delivered back home to me quickly. Plus, he was so polite and professional throughout. I'm so thankful and I am delighted that I'll be reunited with my item. As you know, this is the exception, not the rule when you leave something behind in a hotel. Thank you Matthew and Arlo hotel!

We had a nice stay at Arlo…read more Positives - Comfy beds and a convenient location. The room itself was nice as well - large room, with big windows, and a cool brick ceiling. I liked the long bench on one side of the room as it would allow a few people nice seating. One of the service people fixed a broken sconce light the day I reported it. Rooftop has a pretty good view of the capital. Negatives - the shower door didn't close completely, so it wasn't completely water tight. On check-in, they didn't mention anything about 2 free cans of water a day. Did the hotel do anything above and beyond? No. When I asked if they could do something special for my daughter's birthday, they sent over a menu of products they offer and pricing. I said she'd be happy with a few extra fortune cookies. The person at the front desk and the person I texted said this wouldn't be an issue. Ultimately, no birthday surprise. Standard checkout time was 11AM. The night before checking out, I asked if I could have late checkout. The service desk said to check in the morning of and reminded me that if I was late to checkout, there would be a fee. I asked again the morning of and no response for 50 minutes. We wound up packing in a rush to get out of the hotel. I guess it's partly our fault, but most places will give you at least some leeway from their posted check-out (or at least respond and tell you it's not possible due to some reason).

The shower was one I've never seen before it was super cute, and it would be even better as a staycation. I came here for a dc girls weekend, and it was in the perfect location. Easily walkable to all museums and other things in the area. A wawa was right across the street which made things a lot easier if we needed to grab something quickly. The pool area was cute. They had some pool chairs and cabanas available for guest. I went during Juneteenth weekend, and they had a band playing on Friday, then Saturday night they had a rooftop party that was cute and free to guest staying at the hotel. I had a great time here with my friend. We also browsed the lobby which has the button wall, the photo wall with the light. And some other cool stuff. Would i stay again, absolutely! I will say that the spaces appear larger in photos than they are in reality, but it felt more cozy than cramped, which worked well for us. The room itself wasn't particularly spacious--fairly typical for DC--but we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade from a queen to a king bed. The bathroom, however, was more spacious than expected. The interiors are stylish and distinctive, with a strong purple and pink theme. There are tributes throughout the property to Ruth Bader Ginsburg and other women activists, which gives the hotel a unique personality. If that's not your preference, there are plenty of similarly priced hotels nearby--but I personally appreciated the concept. The location was a big plus. We were able to walk to most major attractions, and when needed, public transportation (bus and train) was just a 5-10 minute walk away. Food was a highlight. The shawarma wings were excellent--though I would have liked a touch more salt--and the pickled chilies and cooling yogurt-based dip were unexpected but complemented the dish very well. The burger and fries were also standout items. The happy hour burger, priced at $10, was filling and well worth it. As someone who takes potatoes seriously, I can say the fries were done right. Drinks were equally impressive. We tried a mix of wines, beers, a Negroni, and a few cocktails--all were well-executed. One minor disappointment was the handling of the "unlimited" coffee, tea, and water mentioned at check-in. While appreciated in theory, they did run out of both coffee and water during our stay. It might be more practical to have refill stations rather than distributing limited cans after advertising unlimited availability. On a positive note, they did give us a welcome nutribar at check in and there were apples to pick at the lobby, which was a nice touch. Overall, the service was excellent, with the exception of one staff interaction. However, I wouldn't judge the entire experience based on a single instance--everyone has off days. Overall, a very good stay with strong highlights in design, location, and food.

I was at this hotel for a conference. Thought I would try staying at the inn for a quieter…read moreexperience. First impression was good because of the way I was greeted by the reservation staff. Then, there was the first red flag- I was told by the person checking me in "I would make sure I give you a nice room" only to find out that I was staying in one of the smallest rooms with a very small bed, which they quoted a "superior queen", but is actually full size. Then I realized that they were charging $250/ per night "conference rate", when the actual nightly rate is between $116-$183. That night, I ate at the restaurant, and the food was mediocre and very costly. Maybe the reason while I was the only person dining. On the first morning, I requested an iron and ironing board at 7:30 am, but it was 8:45 and time for me to leave form the conference, but it never arrived, so I could not iron my clothes. It was however in the room when I returned that evening. The breaking point for me was having to throw away a very expensive meal that I had refrigerated, because they claim to not have a microwave anywhere on site. Why have a refrigerator if you don't have a way to warm anything up? What was even more disturbing was the person at the front desk asking me, "you can't it cold?", and the manager falsely stating that it was DC law that hotels with restaurants, do not have microwaves, then back-tracking when I told him that there were microwaves at the Marriott down the street. Lastly, I was appalled, when I asked the doorman if it was safe for me to walk to the grocery store that was two blocks away, and he told me to "go with God." To his defense, he escorted me half-way down the block when he saw the look on my face. This place earned a star because it is overall a well-kept facility, with a historic feel; housekeeping did an excellent job; and upon check-out, the lady at the front desk offered me free breakfast because I reported to her that I was dissatisfied and would not stay there again. This is something that the first manager should have done once I verbalized my displeasure. Not on the morning of check-out when I was heading to the conference and could not accept the offer. Needless to say, other people might have had an excellent experience at Morrison Clarke, but I did not and won't be staying there the next time I go to DC for a conference. Furthermore, I recommend that conference organizers do not list this facility as an accommodation option due to the price gouging.

The bartender mentioned that this event also helps provide additional hours for staff during the slower month of August, which made me appreciate the concept even more. The Top of the Hay itself is stunning. The views and setting are exactly what you would expect from such an iconic DC property, and getting to experience a space that is typically reserved for private events made the evening feel particularly special. The drinks were also excellent. Sweet, but not overly sweet. But what really stood out was the staff. I do not say this lightly. The service was outstanding. I genuinely wish I had caught everyone's names because anyone working between roughly 4:30 and 7:30 that evening in the lobby, Off the Record, or Top of the Hay deserves recognition and a raise! Every person I interacted with was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. What impressed me most was that the staff remembered my schedule for the evening and made sure I left Off the Record at exactly the right time so I could be the first person to step into Top of the Hay when it opened. That level of attention to detail is rare. Beautiful space, great drinks, and truly exceptional hospitality. "Be Gin the Evening" is such a clever way to let locals and visitors experience a part of The Hay Adams they otherwise might never see. I would absolutely do it again.

Our stay at The…read moreHay-Adams was deeply disappointing and fell far short of basic expectations, let alone what you would expect from a property claiming five-star luxury. For the rates they charge, the conditions and service are unacceptable. The building is old, heavily dated, and features cheap fixings. The bathroom is tiny, featuring a cramped round sink with virtually zero counter space to set down any personal items. Furthermore, for a five-star hotel, lacking a proper hot tub and standalone shower is unacceptable. The towels provided are cheap, rough, and feel entirely out of place at this price point. The bathroom ventilation is so old and loud, that I can't even believe it's there. No fridge in the room, only a mini bar that will charge you if you move around mini bar items to place your own drinks. The view of the White House was severely misadvertised. To actually see it, you are required to pay an extra $700 on top of an already steep $600-per-night room rate. The acoustic insulation is non-existent. If anyone is staying in the room above you, forget about sleeping--every single footstep and movement carries straight through. The front desk staff was entirely dismissive. After promising to switch our room to resolve our issues, they dragged us through three separate attempts, wasted hours of our time with non-responsive answers, and then finally demanded we pay even more money to fix their mistake. After we went through, not even a complimentary breakfast or really anything. Shocked that this place is more expensive than Four Seasons, St. Regents, and the kind. This is barely a three star hotel (except location of course). Stay away.

This is gonna be a long review, so put your seatbelt on and go for this ride with me! When you first arrive, you park your car in the front and check in at the front desk. There was a bellman David, who met me and who was kind enough to help me take my items to my room. At check-in, I met Ellie, and Maggie. They greeted me and thanked me for being a brilliant member, and let me know what benefit benefits came with my stay. If you are a member of the hotels club, they have different incentives for you during your stay. I was advised what time I could come down for breakfast and also the various vending options and dining options available on site. After David, unloaded my items in my room I was able to go and take my car into the valet parking. The valet keeps your car overnight or you have the option to park on the street. If I were you, I would just let the valet handle it. They have an app where whenever you need your car you simply request it and the car is there within seconds! The valet attendant was Semir and he was soooo nice! I mean all of these people were super sweet! I cannot say that enough! Now let's get into the rooms! These rooms are filled with history, and eclectic decor. They have vinyl record players in each room and some really cool literature. But we took it over the top for me was the linen and the pillow pillows on the bed!!!! I literally missed one of the events for the bachelorette party because I sat on the bed and the whole bed grabbed my body, my faced kiss the pillow and I fell slam asleep!!! I feel like you guys need to send me two of those pillows for this review lolllll! Also, the food options were really amazing and there's a café not far down the sidewalk called Mamma Do's that you can dine with for your meals. The entire hotel smells amazing. The showers that I took at this hotel were incredible and it's like they literally have thought of everything and once you get in all you have to do is relax! There's a fridge in the rooms along with water and complementary coffees. They actually serve free alkaline waters in environmental, friendly bottles. One really cool component of this hotel is that they have a rooftop bar and it is like one of the spots in the city. There are many people that come to visit the rooftop, however, they do not have access to the guest floors which I thought was incredible! The security does a phenomenal job at making sure that only guest who are staying at the hotel make it onto guest room floors. That is not an easy task when you have a whole club upstairs. Also I don't know who handles the acoustics at this hotel, but the music did not bother me whatsoever while I was in my room. I literally could not hear it. The pricing at this hotel is beyond affordable, and the location is absolutely astonishing! Your Ubers are going to be literal pennies and you can pretty much walk anywhere! She explained to me that they have noise, ordinance restrictions and that if it was disturbing anyone from sleep, it means the rules that they haven't place were not obeyed. I didn't have time to have a full conversation with her and told her I would stop back by after a meeting. When I return to the hotel after my meeting, she was dealing with an emergency on site and I left my phone number at the Front Desk and she called me within a couple hours to finalize our discussion. She was gracious, polite, understanding, kind, and exactly the kind of hospitalitarian and you would expect from a top-tier hotel. I may consider coming back if Maggie is still in the manager. Having worked in the hospitality business for a very long time, she handled the situation perfectly and did everything within her power to make it right. WARNING: If you plan to be here on a weekend night, there will be NO SLEEP until after 2am. The first two nights of my four night stay were fine; Wednesday and Thursday. I booked a jr. suite while in town for a business meeting. It was just over 500SF with a couch and king bed, walk in closet, and vanity area in addition to a steam shower. Pros: firm bed, record player and fellow water kettle in room, easy to order ice, great water pressure. Walkable location to the convention center and many bars and restaurants and other local attractions. Cons: staff is polite, but not very warm or friendly. I didn't see a single woman who worked in hospitality here. The only female staff I saw were housekeepers. Attached food venues are currently closed (Baker's daughter, etc.) No top flat/top sheet on the bed, you sleep directly under the comforter. When I arrived, I had two large suitcases I was bringing in and two people on staff at the front door just watched me struggle through with my suitcases instead of offering to help me. Upon check-in, the only two Junior suites they had remaining were on the fourth floor, and the second one was directly under the nightclub on the eighth floor. The gentleman at Front Desk explained that to me as why he gave me the suite on the fourth floor, I thought I would not be subjected to the noise of the nightclub. WRONG. The listing for the suite quoted a "city view" but my view was only of an internal roof with gravel. TV does not have a "sleep setting" and most of the remote buttons didn't work (guide, menu, etc.) After the club finally closed at 2am and you could hear people screaming and arguing while departing, I also got to listen to my neighbors endeavor into adult activities. The hotel is cute, the beds are comfortable, but as someone who is not looking to go to a nightclub, let alone stay in one, I will never return. Not worth the steep price tags during a conference where rest is valued. Ultimately, I checked out a day early due to the excessive noise that they don't inform you of while booking. Can't recommend this hotel based on this experience as the price paid.

One thing I found a little odd was that I had originally booked a Deluxe King but was upgraded to an Executive King. My friends had the Deluxe King, and honestly, I thought their room was nicer than mine. From what I could tell, the primary difference with the Executive was the additional office/workspace. If you're deciding between the two, I'd probably save the money and stick with the Deluxe. The rooms are also advertised as having heated bathroom floors. I tried several times to get mine working and couldn't. It wasn't a major issue and certainly didn't ruin the stay, but it was a little disappointing since it was something I was looking forward to. One other note: I would not recommend parking across the street at 11 Dupont Circle. The garage is extremely small and difficult to maneuver in and out of, especially with a larger vehicle. Overall, I'd definitely recommend The DuPont Circle Hotel if you're visiting DC and want a quieter, more relaxed vibe while still being in a great part of the city. I'd happily stay here again.
