Cinnamon roll to share, it's super big
    Lesley M.

My family sometimes meets here for late breakfast as it's sort of halfway between where they live and San Diego. The location is super close to the freeway, making it simple to access. There's a good amount of parking in the lot, especially if you're willing to walk a little farther from restaurant. The restaurant itself is clean and has ample seating. I was tempted to buy one of the rubber chickens they sell in the lobby, maybe next time. The menu is pretty large, seems like a lot of choices for even the picky eaters in your party. They have every kind of breakfast option covered, and a wide selection of lunch dishes too. The omelettes are great, plus you get a choice of potato options and a bread item. I haven't finished anything here, the servings are large, but you can take home leftovers for the next day. They also have the largest selection of juices I've ever encountered in a restaurant. The service is good, everyone has been friendly and helpful with recommendations. We have a couple picky eaters who love the food here, so it's definitely kid friendly.

What a great little spot with good food. Service is fantastic and prices are right. There's a little bakery display case as you walk in. My goodness!! I have never seen such giant cinnamon rolls and rice krispy bars! Didn't eat one but they look delicious. Then I saw the largest most delicious looking biscuits and gravy. I split a machaca and eggs plate and my other friend had a burrito. Plenty of food, even with splitting it. Will definitely be back!

    Crabby Benedict with Hash Browns

Great little diner near Temecula hotels filled with tchotchkes and knick-knacks. I was in town for a friend's wedding and stopped here for breakfast, so it did the job of curing a hangover. I was feeling a Benedict, so I had to have the Crabby Benedict with a side of hash browns. Warm and delicious! This place seems to be a staple of Temecula, so definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for brunching.

Wednesday, Aug 6, 2025: My brother was visiting from San Diego and invited us (Hubby, me, daughter, & grandson) to eat here. It had been years since I was here. Back in the day my daughter was a waitress & hostess. They used to be open for dinner, which we truly miss! They are now only open for breakfast & lunch. Our server, Nancy, provided warm, friendly, and attentive service. My daughter knew Nancy from before and she is a very sweet lady! We all enjoyed our food. I had the turkey sandwich, which was good and filling. I forgot to take photos of everybody's food. Prices were reasonable for good portions. It's still so quaint and the food is still very good! We need to return more often!

A rare site from our experience. We did get here 5 minutes after opening.

The food is delicious. The service top shelf. The ambiance nostalgic. Can get busy. They close early. Wish they were open for dinner. You know close at 2 and reopen around 5 close by 9. Even if just Thursday through Saturday. That'd be amazing!

It's ginormous, we couldn't finish it!!

We heard rumors of a gigantic cinnamon roll at Penfolds Cafe, so naturally we had to confirm if the rumor was true. Despite the Saturday morning chaos, we were seated instantly. Winning!! We immediately kicked things off w the giant cinnamon roll as an appetizer bc what better way to stimulate & ruin our appetites than to eat sweets before our actual meal!?!? This thing was the size of a toddler's head and absolutely drenched in melty, buttery goodness!! One cut and it oozed like a magical waterfall. We were basically in a frosting trance!!!! Then came the "real" food I got the Machaca plate, Hubby got the NY Steak & Eggs. And whew...that steak was thick!!! Major kudos to our server Skyler.... super friendly, funny, and made us feel welcomed and treated us like cinnamon roll royalty. Prices are totally reasonable. Food was fire and portion sizes were huge!! We were beyond happy!!! Will we be back to conquer more of the menu and of course, another giant cinnamon roll encounter!!! Or maybe the giant French toast, that looked good too!!

Biscuits and Gravy (it was like 3 biscuits) HUGE!

We stumbled upon this place and really happy we did. Such a fun, quirky diner, filled with memorabilia. It's hard to take pics inside as it's filled with patrons and I wanted to respect their privacy, but trust me, there's so much to stare at inside, We were greeted by friendly staff upon entering. We were quoted a 20-30 minute wait for a table inside as it was 106 degrees outside, but there's misters outside if you can brave the heat. Nonetheless; we were sat in 15 minutes so not long at all, Our server was super friendly and apologized a few times bc the food was taking long to come out. The giant cinnamon roll caught my eye so you know I had to get it. It was HUGE, ooey gooey delicious and only $9. The Penfold omelette was really good, extra cheesy so if you like cheese, get it. I would ask for the gravy on the side so you can add as you go. I would've liked more bacon, but it definitely had a ton of sausage. The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. Biscuits and gravy were HUGE! Hubby's California breakfast burrito was delicious , topped with a red enchilada sauce, cheese, avocado and sour cream. All of the food was flavorful, huge portions and delicious. I'd definitely come back for the cinnamon roll.

    The Baja Omelette
    Genel S.

We came here on a Sunday morning around 10 AM. When we pulled up there were customers waiting outside which means we knew that we are probably going to have some really good food. The hostesses were very friendly. We waited about 15 minutes and the sat outside, which was great because it was a beautiful day in Temecula. We ordered the Baja omelette, Nachos off of the appetizer menu and added chicken and the Macaroni and cheese with a side of fruit off of the kids menu. Regina was our waitress and she was really friendly. It did take a little while for our food to get there, but that was expected because of it being a Sunday morning. The Baja omelette was delicious. The nachos were definitely not traditional, but had really good flavor once I added the salsa on it. Sidenote, ask for salsa on the side. My child finished the mac & cheese and most of the fruit. We were just passing through on a road trip, but we didn't want to stop at a chain restaurant, we like to support local when we can. Go to Penfold's if you live in the Temecula area!

The customer service from when you walk in up until you walk out was amazing. All of the staff were so friendly and always checking in on you throughout your meal. The food portions were very large!! I got the chicken and waffles and the fried chicken was really good and seasoned well. The breakfast burrito was really good too.

Service was very friendly and not too long of a wait at peak time on a Sunday. Food hit the spot with delicious Benedict's! The cinnamon roll is an absolute must -- great for sharing with the table as an app!

Wow! The prices and the sizes & the service and the food!!!! SUCH A GREAT DEAL! So good! You don't feel heavy or that you're really eating a lot of oil or anything. Everything about it was fantastic so the food was so big and the servings were so big that I ended up just getting two things and I was gonna get three initially but there's no way could possibly finish it. So this is fantastic for families. It's great for a date spot! I can't wait to bring my dad here! That's just the food. Service was fantastic personable helpful fast extremely fast! The decor is nostalgic but not Gotti. Honestly this place is an experience. It almost gave me tears a couple times because I'm seeing things I haven't seen since I was a little kid! This is absolutely a fantastic experience across the board. I would say even just coming for the experience but then the food on top of it is so good. I am just surprised that I have not been in here sooner! I always walk by it or see it but haven't actually gone in and moving forward I'm definitely going to be here more often!

The girls at the front were welcoming, our server was amazing (and I'm still mad at myself for forgetting her name), and then there was Chris, the manager. First of all, Chris has the coolest rocker hair. Second, and more importantly, he went above and beyond to accommodate us. He and the entire team were incredibly attentive without being overbearing--a rare talent these days! Now let's talk about the food. I had the bison burger and wow. It wasn't trying to be fancy or complicated, it was just really, really good. The smoky applewood bacon was the perfect touch and took it to another level. And that Old Fashioned? Smoky, delicious, and dangerous because it goes down way too easy. The atmosphere was lively, fun, and the kind of place where you look around and immediately know you're going to have a good time. Great food, great drinks, and a staff that genuinely seems to care. Chris, if you're reading this, keep the hair. It's working.

He sold us on the appetizers. I read some reviews on options and chose the pesto pasta dish... I give it 6/10. If you don't like anything spicy, watch out for this dish. There's red pepper flakes in it. I didn't read it was slightly spicy, otherwise would have done without it. The chicken was the best thing from that dish. My husband enjoyed his bread-less burger! The drink was thick but the flavor was still good. I got avocado toast with smoked salmon. This very small meal was 20$. I got a lox bagel and 4 huge pieces of smoked salmon with capers and a side of avocado a few days ago in Vegas on strip and that was 16$. Sooooooo... how is this justifiable? Anyways, I also ordered a diet coke and they came out with a mini can. Talk about why this place is called "small" barn. Lol! The server stated the can is super small bc its only 2$. Thats just silly. Just get the bigger can and charge me 3 bucks for it. Thats fair in my humble opinion. 4$ for two mini cans is wonky to me. Alas, these are not the reasons why this place originally got a 2 star from me. It was the tomatoes on my avocado toast. They taste spoiled, old, and mushy. It made my stomach hurt a bit. As for the salmon, it tasted like it smelled, funky. Why i ended up giving this place a 3 instead of 2 stars? Bc their creme brulee was the BEST creme brulee I've ever had. It was so luscious, creamy, and it felt like these are the kinds of desserts GODS eat! It was amazing! My server was friendly and talkative with me up until the end. She said "have a good day" in an oddly, irritated way when I paid with my card. Oh wells. Ill come here for the desserts! And perhaps ill give other things a try

The minute you walked in, the ambiance just wasn't it. Perhaps because we were the only minorities there and everyone else wasn't (including the staff) but it was uncomfortable having people stare at us while we were eating and having our own conversations. Someone came to get our drink order and then it took a bit of time for our actual waiter Leila to come take our order. She did mention she was doing something else. we ordered the steak and frites and their pork chop which was the special of the day. I ordered my steak medium rare and the rest of the table ordered it in medium. When the steaks came out, the waiters seem confused as if they weren't sure which plates went where and when asked if that's a medium rare steak, they stated yes. That steak was medium and it was also dry and under seasoned. It was also tough and chewy. The fries were either undercooked or overcooked. Chimichurri sauce had no flavor to it. We did also order the cedar salad which was delicious. Their calamari and wings were as well. At the end of the night, Leila asked our friend how he liked his steak because it didn't seem like he ate anything. He said it was okay and she kept insisting you can be honest and kept pushing the matter. This was extremely uncomfortable because there was no need to make him feel like he was put on the spot. while I understand the need to want feedback, if your guest says it's okay and seem uncomfortable, maybe leave it at that. She then came over to me and asked about my steak and again saying, "you can be honest." Why wouldn't I be? I did tell her the steak was cooked incorrectly, that was not a medium steak and pointed out that it was dry. There was this awkward silence at the table because honestly there wasn't a need to keep pushing. Simply asking how was it would have suffice. They did end up comping my steak which was nice of them however the entire experience just wasn't pleasant. From the ambiance, to the crowd, to the food - wasn't worth it.

At one point, the server forgot to put in my order, which was fine since we were all full, but it was a bit funny waiting for a burger that wasn't even in the system. We were excited to hear the band, but with some tech difficulties and having been there over an hour, we decided it was time to head out. Overall, it's a good place with great vibes, good food, and wonderful service. Definitely a spot I'd return to for a relaxed night out.

I have a good breakfast experience over two years ago…read more First thing we noticed that restroom was in aweful shape. We should have walked out then. Today breakfast was awful ! I had the short rib Benedict , the meat was dry as if they were freeze dried , the egg did not flow and was more on the soft build egg side and not up to par at all. There Belgium waffle was server was crispy and not light an airy , sub par. You could get a more satisfying breakfast at dennys. Totally did not meet expectations. I ask if these were the same owners as a few years ago and they said they were in transition. There drinks were room temp Go at your own risk at least for breakfast. Good luck!
