I went there on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is big with outdated decor. There are two buffets. One with salad, canned fruit and some desserts. The other buffet is more traditional Chinese food. Everything was ok. Boring fried rice. Most of the fried chicken dishes tasted the same. The steak with peppers was surprisingly the best thing. food tasted like it was cooked yesterday, reheated this morning, and given up on sometime in between. The fried rice was a sad, soggy mess with zero flavor--like someone whispered the word "soy sauce" over it and hoped for the best. The noodles were glued together in one lifeless clump, and the vegetables had the texture of overcooked regrets. The chicken was so rubbery I honestly wondered if it was meant to be chewed or bounced. Everything was swimming in oil, yet somehow still dry. The sauces were aggressively sweet, painfully artificial, and tasted exactly like they came from the cheapest bottle on the shelf. Service was just as bad. Orders took forever in an almost empty restaurant, and the staff acted like fulfilling basic requests was a personal inconvenience. I ate here for the first time 25 years ago, and to come back to check them out was a pleasure-- it's still just as fantastic. I enjoyed everything I ate, and our server was so polite and timely with removing plates and refilling drinks. The price was worth it too-- we paid $11.25/person I believe. Worth every penny. A friend took me there for my Birthday and the food was great. My favorite food there is the crab rangoon. We ate there, but you can get take out, which is filling one plastic box with food, instead of eating there, where you get all that you can eat. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food was awful. Everything fried was dry, hard and chewy. There wasn't one thing on the buffet that wasn't over cooked or just plain old and should have already been thrown away. When you go out to eat, you expect to eat fresh food, and this buffet didn't have that! I will never eat here again. I'll take my chances at the Hunan Chinese restaurant on 98 any day over this place. I can't sit here and tell you a worse Chinese restaurant I've ever ate at, and that's bad because there have been many. I take Chinese buffet reviews with a grain of salt. One can usually find something they like at a buffet. This place had VERY limited food choices, and the food didn't taste like your typical buffet. The rice and noodles were okay, but that's it. The meats, not. For the lunch price of $13, I would go elsewhere. Not sure about the other buffet in town. This place was great. I know, I know when you come to gulf shores you think seafood seafood seafood! Well, this is a nice break from the typical seafood fare. They do have shrimp and some sushi for those die hards who can't live without seafood. Their lunch buffet is $5.99. You get all the delicious staples, salad, and dessert which includes pudding, cookies, and soft serve ice cream. I'm from Hawaii and I have no complaints. The meat was not chewy which happens when the meat is fatty and one often gets at buffets. My favorite was their egg drop soup! Went here tonight with my wife for dinner after landing in Pensacola and driving to Foley for a wedding tomorrow. It's not...bad, but it's not really good either. It's food, and it's pretty cheap ($10/person tonight). I'd go here again if in the area and nothing better was available, but I wouldn't seek it out. Hot and sour soup was more sweet than hot, fish was overcooked, sesame chicken was alright (but not really sesame chicken), fried rice was mediocre, Kung Pao chicken was decent (but not Kung Pao), and the egg drop soup was good. Fridays and Saturdays are seafood night. Drinks not included. Huge restaurant. Quite a few options. Food was average. Don't bother with the fried shrimp, all breading. It's like salad shrimp breaded over and over and over to look like there's a decent size shrimp. Nope. There sesame chicken was good, lots of nice white meat, not a ton of breading. There were definitely a few items that should have been pulled and replaced. Staff was nice enough, but, there were two waitresses (?) at the front register who were so loud it was distracting. Very disappointing. My wife, daughter & I were craving chinese food so we thought we'd give Peng Garden a try. Its a buffet style (serve yourself) restaurant & were promptly seated. The restaurant needed someone to give it a good cleaning and the food was not very good. The hot & sour soup was temp hot but the favor was more "sweet & sour" then hot & sour. I had a few teaspoons of it & then swapped it out for the egg drop soup which was decent. I was surprised to see the only chinese offering of chicken was that of sesame chicken. No General Tso's or anything related. The chicken pieces were rather tough & lacked favor, especially anything close to good Sesame chicken. Overall, we were so disappointed...I can honestly say we won't be be going back or recommending this restaurant to anyone especially to our friends. read more

We have been going here for over 10 years, and it USED TO BE a good restaurant but then the quality of the crab legs went from sweet to salty a while ago so we stopped going on crab night we then found JADE GARDEN down the street which is owned and run by a part of the family that owns peng garden and apparently they took the cook and heat with them. My ice cream bowl was hot, the variety of food was very small, and you are expected to pay more if you 'waste' any of the bland (literally 0 flavor), stinky food that you didn't like for any reason. Its very inconsiderate. But, there are some decent selections and they do have ice cream, if you dont mind it melting practically instantly when it hits the blazing hot small bowl they provide. Oh, and there's only vanilla. i give this restaurant a 2/5, but because my ice cream bowl was hot, i am deducting one star. Worst service ever. I asked for coffee to drink and the waitress told me it was old. I asked how old and she couldn't remember. So, I asked if she could make fresh and she said no. It took a manager to get her to make coffee. Then she never checked on us. I had to hunt her down for a refill. Then, they charge .50 for a to go cup. Asked for a to go box, my mom has dementia and forgot she already had a plate. The manager came over and told us no, so they threw away an almost full plate of food. Not bad for a Chinese buffet. We went on the night they had fish , most of the week they don't serve this and the price is higher for this fish. I was disappointed as the waiter said they had baked salmon and I never saw the plate filled till we were ready to leave. It is all the basic items , some were tasty others just ok. We were in the Gulf Shores area for a few days and were looking for a Chinese restaurant. We happened upon this one on the main drag in Foley, S. McKenzie Street. It was a Monday night and there were only a few people in the place, but the buffet had ample food and it was hot and tasty. I especially liked the beef with peppers and onions, the chicken with vegetables, the chicken skewers, the barbequed pork and the green beans. This Place has horrible food, even the steamed rice is t good. Frozen fried shrimp, fish and chicken. Good luck finding any shrimp inside all the breaking. Most stuff is fried, poor quality and does not taste good. The chicken on a stick is deep fried to a nice dry crispy texture that is like eating leather. I tried to manage by with a salad and theses is no dressing that isn't heavy to choose from. Not a fan of buffets, and this just proves why. Not worth the 6.00 I paid. read more
