Thai Curry Xian House (Chicken, Beef, Shrimp)
    Shannon S.

Xian Noodle Place seems to be a chain with several locations in Pensacola, FL and this new one in Foley, AL. For my first visit they had plenty of seating but a lack of staff so they had customers wait at seats near the entrance for a table. The ambiance of the space is substantially changed from the previous seafood restaurant that was here. They were out of many items as they had a very busy initial opening. I ended up getting the grilled chicken noodle soup which was pretty mediocre in the flavor category and didn't come close to a nice Vietnamese chicken Pho. The price of $22.81 before tip also cost way more than a large bowl of fantastic Pho in New Orleans. I will make a return visit to sample something else on their menu and I hope it will be better. So I made a return visit and this time I got the Thai Curry with Xian House proteins (Chicken, Beef, Shrimp). This dish was FAR better than the awfully bland noodle soup I had here before. It wasn't as good as food I've had at dedicated Thai restaurants though. Overall this pan-Asian approach they have is interesting but so far I think you are better off going to an Asian spot that is more specific. Foley really does lack a lot of good Asian food options though so for now this is at least something that offers quite a selection of many types of dishes in a lot of different styles of preparation.

Run don't walk! The food is outstanding. This restaurant rivals any Asian food in America. Savannah was incredibly knowledgeable and a great server. We had the Beijing potstickers, chicken, dry pot, add veggies, and the grilled short rib noodle bowl. All of them were fabulous.

Waiter Savannah was super friendly and knew her stuff! Food was amazing! I'm Asian and was a little bummed there wasn't too many Asian places here when I moved. This was great. The suck was 10/10! The place is very clean and big! Will return for sure!

    Chicken dry pot!

Ping Garden, Foley, Alabama, All You Can Eat Buffet, with cooked down green beans, squash, okra,…read morepotatoes, cooked down cabbage with fresh shrimps, homemade biscuits with or without gravy, fried fish, fried shrimp, or/and steamed shrimp that you peel, fried and chicken fingers, chicken on a stick with seafood red sauce, thousand island sauce, and sweet and sour sauce to dip shrimp, chicken on a stick or, chicken nuggets, fresh sliced corn off of the cob, fresh homemade rolls, eggs, bacon, sausage for brunch, then around 4PM, the menu changes to more seafood, more of other meats, stuffed crab shells, and they serve stuffed crab, mud bugs, and cream cheese and crab wontons, that is my favorite thing. Go there when you are hungry and leave there stuffed. Since this is all that you can eat, you should get smaller servings of what you want, so that you eat almost everything on your plate because they don't like for you to have food still on your plate that they have to throw away. For Take Out, you tell the Server what you want, as you go through the buffet line together, and you get one take out plate that has to have the lid shut for take out, and if you want crab and crème cheese wontons, you can get another take out plate to go. They serve only Pepsi fountain drinks, iced or hot tea, sweet or unsweetened, and water with real lemon juice squeezed into the water, with or without sugar. They also serve beer, wine, or cocktails. They also have a desert buffet with puddings, whip cream, cookies. Watermelon slices, and other fruits, plus the fact that they have a soft ice cream machine that you can pump into an ice cream bowl that is chocolate, vanilla, and/or vanilla/chocolate swirl ice cream yogurt to be eaten while you are inside of their restaurant. After eating just a small sample of their buffet food, you have a full stomach and you are ready to drive home and take a peaceful nap. I love to eat at Ping Garden with my husband and friends. The other buffet is more traditional Chinese food. Everything was ok. Boring fried rice. Most of the fried chicken dishes tasted the same. The steak with peppers was surprisingly the best thing. But what do expect for $10.95 a person. There was a constant stream of customers and I think the restaurant has been in business for over 20 years. You just get what you pay for.

It's been 4 years since I reviewed here, which is my trend I guess, with my last two being in 2016…read more& 2020. It's been my favorite Chinese in the region since I first tried it nearly ten years ago. China Dragon, located in Gulf Shores, AL, is a well-established Chinese restaurant that has been serving delicious Asian cuisine for over a decade. They have a cozy dining area with a few tables, and while I have dined there quite a few times, I do pick ups for my takeout fix on a lot more occasions, like tonight . They now also have another location in Orange Beach, AL as well but I haven't tried that one, yet :-) Their menu features an assortment of classic Chinese dishes. Appetizers like egg rolls and crab rangoon provide the perfect start to any meal, while the restaurant's signature General Tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, and lo mein dishes showcase the flavors and textures of traditional Chinese cuisine. Side note: Interestingly, General Tso's chicken, a dish named after General Tso, a 19th-century Hunanese general, despite being synonymous with Chinese cuisine in America and around the world, has a somewhat surprising history. The dish wasn't actually created in China, nor was it eaten by the historic General Tso. Instead, it was invented in Taiwan in the 1950's by a chef named Peng Chang-kuei, who had fled there with the Nationalists after their defeat by Mao Zedong's Communists. But then it was transformed into the sweet, fried staple of American Chinese cuisine we know and love in New York City during the 1970s. It is one of my all-time dishes when I'm eating out Chinese, and I do not cook it. There is one dish that I really, really like here that is wildly overlooked. It's simply listed on the menu as "Singapore Rice Noodle" which I've had in Chinatown's from Boston to San Francisco but they don't describe it anywhere here. They do a fantastic job with this dish. Singapore Rice Noodles, is also known as Singapore Mei Fun or Xing Zhou Chao Mi Fen, and a popular stir-fried rice noodle dish with a unique blend of spices and ingredients. Despite its name, the dish is believed to have originated in Hong Kong and is not commonly found in Singapore itself. They make it with rice noodles, onions, carrots, and bean sprouts, with generous portions of shrimp, chicken and beef all cooked perfectly. Speaking of portions, they also give you portions they are easily enough to share with two or more people at very reasonable prices. Try it! In addition to dine-in and takeout services, China Dragon offers delivery through its own dedicated drivers, as well as through third-party platforms like Grubhub and Doordash. Bottom line: This place is an outstanding choice for Chinese with an extensive menu, convenient hours, fast service and hot fresh food. Highly recommended!! Open seven days a week with operating hours ranging from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM or 10:30 PM depending on the day, China Dragon ensures customers can satisfy their cravings at any time.
