Signed contract in Feb 23, Penguin postponed my installation many times and finally was supposed to install last week. There was no show. The sub contractor they hired was very unprofessional and did a bad job. The worst is they don't stand behind their work. They take forever to come out and repair things. No one picks up the phone. If I could give it a negative I would. Been waiting since March for an install. Finally installed in June. Still have not sent final paper work to PG&E, so I do not have a permission to operate. Now I'm paying on my Solar Loan and paying PG&E for my power at the same time. So now I'm on the hole even more. They won't answer their phones, won't finish their job. Also lost parts of my breaker box on install, replaced it with cardboard. PG&E refused to switch me over, they can't get ahold of Penguin either. I had my solar installed through my representative Nasir Azizeh. He was extremely thorough. Knowledgeably and extremely responsive. He went above and beyond in helping with the inspection. Came to my house and watched the installation and when there was an issue with the plumbing post install. He was able to correct and fix the issue immediately. It was fantastic customer service. In regards to the installers. I had the pleasure of working with Philip Little. Who is extremely tall so the name is deceptive. The guy did me solid. He repaired everything provided great feedback. Was extremely courteous and respectful and went way above of what was expected. I am extremely satisfied with with the level of service and I highly recommend them. I would leave a 0 stars if I could. Do not use this company. The project is taking forever to complete. I paid all the milestone payments as per the agreement. Then one of their suppliers filed a mechanics lien against my property. I had paid them but Penguin obviously did not pay their suppliers and sub contractors so I ended up with the lien against my property. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! We were excited to go Solar. We signed with Penguin (Big Mistake) in time for the 2.0 buy back. We did everything we could do... - New roof (two to five years early) $20K -new electrical main panel - $5.5K We are paying cash. Fortunately we had not given Penguin any of the estimated $22-- $24 thousand. They went Dark for about four weeks. The representative who sold us the package was also blind sided with no explanation. Finally a call, stating re-organization and a promise to get our trust back. A tech, came out (very good and thorough) to survey the job. Then to proceed, and make first payment, I placed four phone calls to Penguin and once again no return phone call. Two days later I called again, the person who answered acted as if no return phone calls (no communication) is standard operating procedure. I'm done! I asked the sales representative if I could buy the 2.0 Edison program that I signed up for and was submitted.....NOPE was the answer. Yesterday, June 6th 2023, I found out the salesman who put our package together has still not been paid for previous jobs and has had to pay his vendors out of his own pocket and has lost a couple reps. due to Penguin. It's sad that Penguin has NO care or compassion or good faith. We lost out on the 2.0 buy back program from Edison (Penguin will not release it to us), fortunately we did not lose out on $22--$24K. I decided to go with penguin home solutions to install my solar big mistake on my part, After paying over $26,000 to them I received a lean on my home from the Supply company who supplied the solar panels saying that Penguin home solution never paid them for the panels. I called Penguin they said they're waiting on funding And the lean would be lifted. They guarantee a certain amount of energy production with their solar panel installation every year. I've had the system since 2020 and this year I got a big fat electricity bill from my utility almost 3x the amount of the previous year only to find out that something in their solar panel system broke and my panels were producing ZERO electricity for 5 months out of last year without my knowledge. I remembered their policy of guaranteed energy production and that they would reimburse electrical costs if their system failed to produce as advertised. I called and they said someone would get back to me. Crickets for weeks. I called again and spoke to someone else and the same result - crickets. Called multiple times until FINALLY someone said they would reimburse a certain amount (which didn't even come close to the amount that I was owed but whatever) and they said they would send a check. Then same thing - crickets for weeks. I called again and they said they sent the check already but NOPE I didn't receive anything and they said they'd get back to me and it's been weeks of crickets again to the point that I could be a cricket wholesaler at this point if any of you have any reptiles to feed. It's been at least 5 months through this process and have spoken to about 4-5 people regarding this and still have no check in hand. I warned them that I'd write a scathing review if they didn't follow through with their promise and still nothing. This pathetic company is a bait and switch scam. STAY AWAY. read more

My roof/solar project began on Sept. 14th with the tear off of my roof. The roofing company contracted by Penguin was good and the tear off and replacement while not perfect, (rain in the middle of install was a difficult issue) was resolved. The issues came when the solar portion was being installed and approved. Here is where we are on January 19th (4 months!!!). No HOA approval - (denial), no battery commission, no drywall or insulation repairs due to roof leaks. NO COOPERATION on fixes - just consistent billings for final payment when the job is not complete. YOU should think about this review before going forward with this company. Initially everything was going well, but then it failed inspection twice (that I know of). Here we are in May 2023 and the panels still are not activated. On top of that, one of the suppliers placed a mechanics lien on my property. Phone call after phone call, email after email, and I keep getting the same "it will be paid soon" and "you will be connected/activated soon" lines. All talk and no action as of yet. We had penguin home solutions Solar come out to start our job today. First thing they did was cut our beautiful vines that have been growing for 15 years they cut the vine down to its main branch which covered a large area that now will have to be removed. They are refusing to compensate for this. There is no way that they can put the vine back but there is a lot of it that is going to have to be taken down all the way the job of fixing the area which we estimate will cost about $1500. this is so disheartening that they send out people that are not qualified that don't think about what they are doing. they just sent a bunch of guys out and say go for it and they do whatever they want . damaging property and the company taking no responsibility at all. read more

We had our solar system installed Sept 2021. I choose Penguin Home Solutions because of the warranty offered. I had never heard of the company before but took a chance. I had other estimates and all were close in price but I did think the warranty was better than others. So recently we did have a problem. Turns out our inverter went bad and they ordered another. So there was a wait for the inverter, but as much as I disliked that it was just one of those things. It was replaced today. Doug from the Penguin team came out and did an awesome job getting it up and running and we are producing again. i been having my panels for almost a year now and my electricity bill hasnt change at all i still get them high electricity bills the same amount of money as when i didnt have panels, and now i still gotta pay for my panels and my electricity bill is there anything i can do. i called them sever times and they say they are going to check my panels and send someone to check but they never do. when i bought the panels the seller told me i was going to get $14k back on a check and i never got anything and he also provide my home with more panels for me to not pay electricity anymore well he said my bill will come out to 20 dollars or less, but still now i'm $1800 dollars in debt with the city because they said they were gonna fix the issue and still nothing is there anything i can do to get the best out of the panels? i also heard i need to change my electricity bill to something call NEM can anyone help me with that?? read more

They upgraded my panel from 100 to 200 amps, installed 16 solar panels as well. The City Of Riverside has been messing around with the scheduling due to Covid, they had guy sitting and waiting for inspections and the city did not show. Started my project the first week of march. My project is still not turned on and the communication has been minimal at best. This has been the biggest regret of company's I have made in my new home. I would of rather of gone with any of the other companies that had better reviews but was sold on it when I sat down with Alex who was kind and promised project completion in 2 months. Not only in my solar not on but I had called multiple times in may and June asking when it might be completed only to not yet a call back 3 times. I called the forth time and was informed my solar inspection would be June 28th then received an email informing me of that on the Friday prior. Then day of the 28th I get a call at 815 telling me that the inspection was canceled cause someone was out sick. Fast forward to 830 there's someone from their company on my roof doing whatever it is they're doing. They finish and leave. Now half my power is turned off in areas of the house in which the solar panels are installed above. Called kept getting told to call my utility company. Finally had someone come out to fix but by this point I'm so done. Then at 1130 the city inspector shows up and can't preform the inspection cause they don't want the liability of touching the equipment without the company being there in which I completely understand but also another fail on this company. Now I'm a very understanding person but at this point I'm so fed up I'm ready for this nightmare to end. We had solar done as an add-on to roof work by RNR Roofing. Our panels look great on the roof. The install took no time at all. They were very professional and answered all questions. It would have been nice if they would have either sent or kept a photo of the old electrical panel so that when they replaced it we knew what switch turned off what, but oh well on that end. The only other thing I have to add is that communication from the home office could have been a little better. It would have been nice to know about the application process with the utility company and that things might be denied and fixed multiple times.
