By far the WORST customer service experience I've ever had with any auto repair shop. Let me start by saying that I'm an extremely understanding person. I dropped my car off late Saturday evening, and the employee told me they probably wouldn't be able to look at it until Monday because it was a holiday weekend. No problem. I completely understood that and was willing to be patient. Monday came and went. Not a single phone call. Tuesday, I called to check on the status of my car. I was told someone would call me back. Guess what? Nobody called me back. Wednesday, I finally got ahold of someone, and they told me they needed approval for a diagnostic test. Fine. I approved it immediately. But my first thought was: when exactly were you planning on contacting me to get that approval if I hadn't called YOU? Thursday, I called again looking for an update. Instead of giving me one, they started talking about the exact same diagnostic I had already approved the day before. I had to explain to them that I had already given authorization and was simply trying to find out what was going on with my vehicle. Later that day, I stopped by in person because it was becoming obvious that nobody was communicating with anybody. That's when I was told another diagnostic needed to be done and that someone had to text the technician to see when they could come out. Text them? You're holding my vehicle hostage for days, and we're waiting on text messages? Then today, Friday, May 29, 2026, I called AGAIN and was told that the technician couldn't come until Monday. Are you kidding me? So my question is: WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO TELL ME THAT? Why did I have to call yet again to find out that my car was apparently going to sit there for another three days? At that point, I was done. I told them I was coming to get my car because it was painfully obvious that nobody there had any sense of urgency, accountability, or respect for a customer's time. When I arrived, the employee handed me my keys. I asked how much I owed. His response? Nothing. Why? Because after having my car for almost an entire week, THEY HADN'T DONE ANYTHING. Let that sink in. They had my vehicle from Saturday until Friday and accomplished absolutely NOTHING. No repairs. No completed diagnostics. No meaningful updates. No communication. Nothing. The only reason I knew anything at all about what was happening was because I kept calling them. Every single update came from me chasing them down. And half the time, the "update" was just the same information repeated over and over again. What makes this so frustrating is that I wasted an entire week. My car could have been at another shop where people actually care about customer service and understand that customers rely on their vehicles. Instead, it sat at Pep Boys collecting dust while nobody seemed interested in moving the process forward. I've never been so irritated by the lack of communication and complete disregard for a customer's time. This wasn't just bad service--it was nonexistent service. Pep Boys wasted my time, failed to communicate, failed to follow up, failed to manage expectations, and failed to accomplish a single thing with my vehicle. I wouldn't take a bicycle to this location, let alone a car. Avoid this place if you value your time. I really didn't want to give them a star because giving them a star means they actually put in some work when in reality they didn't. read more

I'm writing this review because Pep Boys has consistently provided me with nothing but the best service. Several months ago, I purchased a set of tires from them and had them installed on my vehicle. The service was excellent, and I left completely satisfied. So naturally, when it came time to get new tires for my wife's car, I called Pep Boys again to get a price. Their quote was competitive with other local shops, but I ended up ordering the tires online to save some money. Unfortunately, the tires are still in transit, and my wife needed a reliable car to get to a baby shower in Florida. I told her to take my car instead, but it needed an oil change and a tire rotation before the trip. While I waited on her tires to arrive and continued driving around on a spare, I gave Pep Boys a call. A very kind and professional staff member named Tammy answered. She told me to bring the car in, and they would try to work it in. When I got there, I could see the technician was still working on another vehicle. My wife met me at the shop around 5:30 p.m. after she got off work. At that point, I was concerned because it was getting late, and I honestly didn't think they'd be able to get to my car before closing. Tammy explained the situation, and I could tell both she and the tech understood how important it was for us to have the car ready. That's when the tech said, "Sir, I'll take care of your car if Tammy is willing to stay late." Without hesitation, Tammy responded, "I will." That meant a lot. Even with closing time approaching, they went above and beyond to make sure our car was done that same evening. Their willingness to stay late and help us out in a time of need showed incredible commitment and care. I told Tammy right then and there: Pep Boys has a lifetime customer in me. I'm so appreciative of how she and the technician went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of. Thank you both. you truly made a difference! Made an online appointment for 8am for a brake flush and refill. Get there at 7:55am and the attendant tells me the tech won't be in until 9:30. I walk to eat breakfast and come back at 9. At 9:45 there was no tech. The attendant says "he must be stuck in traffic". Why even have appointments at 8am available??? I left... read more

Please do not depend on your car being serviced in a timely manner. If you make an appointment, it means nothing. You will be pushed back. They do not put any effort into getting you in and out. But they will still charge you top dollar. You have been warned. read more

On 4-10-25, our engine problem light came on, so we brought our car to Pep Boys at 3829 Austell Rd., Austell, GA. The Pep Boys rep said my IridiumIX plugs that I bought in 2019 needed to be replaced as their test computer said one of the plugs was misfiring. They could not figure out which one, so they replaced all four. Also, they put four new ignition coils, which attach to each plug. The total cost was $1,265.27. The main cost item of the visit was that Pep Boys charged us $198.99 for each ignition coil, for a total of $795.96 for 4 coils. Afterwards, we found out that AutoZone, on the web sells a set of four ignition coils for a 2010 Hyundai Sonata Limited for $233.99, which is $58.50 per ignition-not $198.99 for each coil that Pep Boys charged. The car engine light is no longer on, and the engine sounds good, but be aware that Pep Boys likes to overcharge for parts. I would give them a 2 star rating. read more

Amazing service from Budd. I got in early morning, (shortly after 7:30am) right after I realized there was a nail in my tire. I expected to wait a bit since it's the holiday weekend but as luck had it, a tech showed up and I got right in. Quick service, and they did their very best to accommodate me as a walk in. As I was waiting, I overheard several customers as walk ins, expecting service on the spot and Budd navigating difficult conversations turning ppl away if they didn't want to leave their car or had an appointment. He handled each situation by hearing the customer but giving them options. 4 stars because the store was older and not the cleanest or organized. read more

Upon getting my car from their shop at nearly $1,899.00, the check engine light came on. Are you kidding me???? I took it right back and after a hour of looking over it with the flashlight, they wanted to recommend to me another repair job. I asked them to close up my hood and I would take my vehicle to another shop. When I had it evaluated at Ricky Jordan Auto Repair, all I needed was a gasket, not a major part installed. My car was due for an oil change so I made an impromptu visit since I was nearby. I'm glad that they were able to service my car without any prior arrangements. I'm not sure who worked on my car but they were quick with the process. The staffs were approachable and professional and I couldn't praise enough! Oil changes could get a little costly so I suggest browsing through their website and look for coupons or available promotions. Pep boys, austell rd provides the most unprofessional service ever. Went there for an oil change I had a 7am appointment. The door was locked and the cashier was sitting behind the register eating his breakfast. After I had to knock on the door he came and opened the door slightly to say "the store manager isn't in yet so I cannot let you in" I asked how long until he arrives I have a 7am appointment, but he isn't sure. The manager arrives 10 after 7. I'm upset because my initial appointment was Saturday at 8 but after waiting 1.5 hrs and my car was untouched a reschedule to Tuesday (today) a less busier day. So being late to a paying customers appointment wasn't acceptable. I told them I needed to be out by 8am, I explained I was here Saturday with a long wait and didn't want a repeat issue. I was getting a manager special which includes oil, tire rotation, full car inspection, full fluid inspection, and topping off fluids (I was unsure which fluids at the time). After I gave my keys in the mechanic didn't get my car until another 10 minutes later (mind you I am the only customer there). He takes my car back and all he does is an oil change. Normally before they bring the car back to the front they give me the details of the results of the inspection. I got nothing. He brung the car around and came in to return my keys, I asked why wasn't a tire rotation done. The mechanic proceeded to tell me it wasn't included I said and the fluid top off and the inspection? Stumbling on his words which was leading to an argument i waited for the service manager Bud to advise. I asked Bud what was included and he named all the I said when he got to tire rotation I said Stop there because it wasn't done because he (mechanic) said it wasn't included. Bud and the mechanic then go back and forth about the tire rotation being included but wasn't marked to be done on my sheet therefore it wasn't. Bud then tried to justify it because I needed to be done by 8 but says they can bring it back around it just takes 5 minutes (mind you the time is 7:40). I said if it's included with what I paying for why would I not receive it, it's not my fault you all arrived to work late when I had prior engagements. It started to go into a big argument one I didn't have time for so I left and told them I would be reporting their unprofessional service. I will be contacting the store manager along with the regional manager. I have made an appointment for the Floyd road location in hopes of not only the completion of the manager special package, but better service overall. If not I will be ditching pep boys as a whole and going back to the dealership for my maintenance. read more

I have standards on workmanship that must be adhered to or lives and millions of dollars are in jeopardy. There are no quality standards used here at all. Being new to the area, we took the car to this nearby location and was immediately seen by Jose Ramirez, the Store Manager. After checking the battery and confirming it was indeed dead, he shared our options and made a recommendation. He also communicated an approximate time the car would be ready. We took the opportunity to run some errands and BEFORE the verbalized completion time, we were texted AND called to confirm our car had its new battery and was ready to be picked up. I brought my car there yesterday for a front en wheel alignment. Car was running fine no lights on, on the dashboard. They do my alignment and I pull out of the parking lot. Traction light comes on and my car starts making this grinding noise. I take it back and they test drive it. And the guy comes back and says yeah I see your light is on and I felt the grinding so we're going to give you, your money back because we should not have done the alignment because you need new tires. WTF!!! So I go get a diagnostic test done and was told my alignment was done correctly. I call and speak to the manager of the service department and he says the alignment has nothing to do with my steering angle signal circuit signal. I take it to the Hyundai dealer and guess what??? It had everything to do with alignment sorry ass pep boys did. Pep boys did not do my alignment correctly. They cost me more money because they did not want to fix what they broke. The clerk took my information and while I waited she came back and said all my tires were rotten because I've had them 5 years. Mind you, I brought the car brand new and it's not five years old. Plus I purchased all new tires in 2012! WTF! I went to their competitor and my car was fixed in 10 minutes for $10. I asked were my tires rotten and of course they said no. They even took me to the back and showed me how to tell when I need new tires. The guy said I had a good year left on my tires. Great car service and good customer service. I came in yesterday at the last minute when my car was making noise in the back of the car. The problem was only getting worse so I went to closest auto repair I could find, it sucked too because I had my dog with me. I was referred to this location when the other location I went to was short on staff. It was 3:30 on a Monday afternoon so the doggie and I was prepared for a very long wait. To my surprise the guys got me in, within an hour the problem was found and in about a hour and a half the problem was fixed. You guys are complete idiots. I took the car in there that had a hole in the tire that needed to get repaired. The hole was in the tread and completely and easily repairable. They kept me for five hours with their "recommended work". In the end...... They didn't fix the tire. They are 100% as dumb as they come. read more

Have been trying to get my tires rotated by them for 3 days. Set an appointment for today last night, show up today to drop my car off and was told it'd be an hour before they could get to my car then another hour or so to rotate the tires... I'm sorry but what is the point of an appointment then? I highly recommend this Pep Boys! Jose and the tech on duty helped me RIGHT BEFORE CLOSING after my driver side rear tire got punctured by a screw and developed a slow leak. I wish I got the tech's name too so I could give him a shoutout, but I hope he knows I appreciate his work! I was over at Firestone and they told me they couldn't patch it that day. I needed my tire to be in a good way for my commute so I called up this Pep Boys while sitting in my car at the Firestone parking lot and Jose said if I could get there in 20 minutes they'd see what they can do. I sent my nephew to get an oil change & we were charged $10 more than the sign said. (I let that go even though I wasn't happy being overcharged.) Then I noticed my "change oil" light come on after 2 weeks. I called the manager and asked if I brought it back could they double check that they actually changed the oil & reset the light for me & he told me yes it wasn't a problem. Yesterday my nephew took it back to them & he was told to "google how to reset it or better yet YouTube it". Why the fuck should I finish the job I paid them to do? Thank goodness for Pep Boys! We just moved to the area and not only was I due for an oil change, but I somehow managed to lodge a screw in my tire and needed it fixed. I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and they were slammed, so Christina made an appointment for me for the following morning, around 10am. At that time, she gave me a rough estimate of services, something I'm not used to receiving- a nice plus! I arrived the next morning, around 9:30am, really hoping that they might be able to squeeze me in ahead of time. Unfortunately, they didn't take my vehicle in until right at 10am on the dot- this was the only thing about my experience that I feel like could have been improved upon, but I also understand that my appointment was made for 10am, not 9:30am. Given that the vehicle was taken back at 10am, by 10:25, Christina came to let me know that I was all taken care of and handed me the screw they removed from my tire. I was thankful they were able to just plug the tire! When I went to check out, Christina recommended I register for their rewards card, saving me over $20 on my trip today! The entire bill was just over $30 for an oil change and the tire repair. I really appreciated Christina's service, in particular, and their efficiency at this location. Will be going back! read more

I went to get a battery for my car. Told the price of the battery and labor. When I go to pick it up they had added an $11.00 shop fee! What's up with that?? When I ask you the price I expect the total price not some surprise number after the work is done. If you are going to add fees be honest and up front about it. I won't be going back. My car is too important to take to someone who can't remember to tell me everything up front. What else are they forgetting to do?? read more

I've gone to this Pep Boys several times, and i've been tempted to write a review but this last time I have no choice because their work is horrible and the customer service is poor. The store manager Eric is rude and untrustworthy. The last time i needed a belt that cost 20.00 and he told me with labor it would be 200.00. He tried to add work that was not needed to my bill! I took it down the street and got the work done for $45.00. I've spent over 1500 at this Pep boys this year!! This morning, Eric called me on the phone and rudely told me my friend who I recommended to Pep Boys left his car there over 60 days and he needed payment, when I told him I didn't have anything to do with that, he told me that I couldn't bring my car back there anymore! I have several warrentys with Pep Boys! I called corporate office and left a complaint! You can't treat customers who spend their hard earned money like that!!!! Hello went to Pep boys Dec 23, 2015 the manager and crew seems to be nice. But when they looked over my engine, they told me that I needed many services done on my car. And it will be approximately 600.00 dollars for these particular services. I was too angry because to get a tune up done at certain places are much cheaper. And on top of that they included services which made me think that they were out to RIP ME OFF!! I went on a site today and read that TIRE PLUS TOTAL CARE have the tune up and all the services combined in a package that could be more affordable than Pep boys. So, I will contact them tomorrow regarding my vehicle. Some of these companies think that women are kind of stupid or dumb, and they always try to think they can sucker them by getting all of their money. But I'm too smart for their games!! I what put the icing on the cake is when they told me if I keep driving my car I can cause more damages to it, trying to really scare me!! My advice to all women please do not go to Pep boys unless you have a good mechanic or husband or boyfriend that knows about cars. I received a confirmation via email and I printed out my paperwork as it advised me to. When I arrived to the store, I told them i have an appt for 6pm. The lady asks me "did I schedule online?" I said yes. She then says "oh we wont be able to get you today cause the guy is overbooked" So I asked for the store managers info and called him the next morning. I explained the issue to him, which his name is John Eric Wright, and asked if there was something that can be done about this,seeing as how I took off work and traveled 45 mins to get to the store. He then tells me no there is nothing that they can do and if he had it his way they wouldn't even do online appointments. He says they dont even take appts after 5pm even though it says it online.
