But I was lucky that they had their Master Tech working that day, that late, working on my car since they mention mine was close to being overcharged. I have chosen this place to do my regular car maintenance for two years. My car maintenance include oil change and tire rotation.The service department front desk, named Franny ( sorry for my poor English , he may name Frank or Franklin), checked my car in, but he just answered me in orally. When I paid my service bill, I noticed there was not mention tire rotation. Franny explained to me and other front desk the service package including tire rotation. However, my wife and I found out technician did not do tire rotation. I went back to store and I wanted to ask them to do it. When Franny talked to the technician after he learned what happened, they left me alone, and they did not give me any responding. I tried to talk to Franny, but he was avoiding me. The technician yelped me " backup your car" , I said " Will you do tire rotation?" The technician shouted" backup your car first" . They stopped a car at the gate, no car can get in and out, then they were smoking in front of the gate, no one talked to me anymore. One minute later, I decided to leave, and I will not come back again. I hoped they did tire rotation when I came back, and I did not mind if they forgot to do the tire rotation first, and I would pay for the service absolutely. But I cannot stand their service attitude for me, their two-year customer. I would contact their customer service. It is too bad. read more

I was greeted by Wilkins, and I explained that I needed rear brake and tail lights. They checked my car right away, and found appropriate light bulbs (turned out I needed 3). They replaced bad bulbs right away, and gave me great price. Also, don't forget to ask for senior discount if you're in that category. And I signed up for Pep Boys Reward club, for future discounts. I was there for an inspection and also to purchase windshield washer. I have no idea about cars and I can barley put in my own GAS!! I was immediately greeted by Myles and he was a wonderful help making sure I got everything needed and my car was OK! He informed me that my check engine light was on and this thing that looked like (!) which was my TIRE PRESUSRE which was low. Customer Service was EXCELLENT! He helped me pick out the best oil for an oil change, Fixed my tires and installed my windshield washer as I have no clue how to even open the hood of my car!!! DONT GO THERE! Bait and switch. They tell you they will give you pepboys deals, but when you get there they tell you they don't have the items but say they have similar items but no discounts. BEWARE!Also they say they won't honor warranty items unless its the same exact item (even the same exact batch!!). Then they say they don't care your items but have similar items but no discounts. BEWARE!They say the price and they raise it later by adding all kinds of fees. Ridiculous amounts of addition costs. BEWARE! The manager Louis then after realizing they broke our car said he was "not responsible as the car was broken when it got there". We informed him we watched your guys over crank the winch with your drill. It did not have a problem when we changed the tire. It had no problem when you took the spare tire off. You should never over crank it and that is why you use the provided manual wrench and not your drill! You need to follow the manufacture service manual and not a extreme powerful drill. read more

Both the service department and the parts department proved to me today that they do not care. I dropped of my car for a state inspection at 1pm (the time of my scheduled appointment). I did not hear anything for about 2 hours, so I decided to call to see if my car was ready. When I called the service department no one would pick up. I let it ring through to the store and they basically told me that since no one was there to answer at the service counter, they can't do anything. They are "only parts" and I should try calling the desk. (The same counter that no had no one there.) If they actually did care, the manager who I was speaking to, could maybe go back to the service area to have them pick up the phone? I just walked back over and took my keys. The mechanics didn't even care, I just walked out. Save yourself the frustration, there are better places to take your car. Go elsewhere. read more

I had an appointment at 10AM and after waiting till 11AM, I see my car still waiting outside to have someone see, I asked the most senior mechanic Jerry about waiting time. He gave me a bullshit eg of doctor saying when you have an appointment with doctor does he take you at same time of appointment? This is a business we can't do anything, I have 2 more car to see before your car and I am pretty sure they are just a walked in customer. I don't understand the whole point of taking an appointment. Very very pissed and unsatisfied with the customer service. Jerry who is proclaimed to be the most senior mechanic has so much of attitude and arrogance that he forgot how to talk with customer. I made an appointment 2 days prior to have a tire installed. Appointment time was 1200 noon. When I arrived I informed them I had filed for the warranty on the old tire, however they told me that it is a lot of documentation and it would take much longer if I wanted them to do the documentation.I told them I could not wait long so to forget about the warranty which I had already filed for. At 1 pm I asked how much longer and was told it would be another 30 to 45 minutes before car is even brought in. WHY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT 2 days in advance and they take whoever comes first and is waiting. At 2 pm the car was still not inside. Sometime after that the car was brought in and it was ready by 230 pm. So I waited for 2 1/2 hours for a service that takes 15 minutes and it cost me the additional cost of the replacement tire which should have been covered by the warranty because (as they latter told me) they were understaffed, overbooked and still have to take walk in customers. read more

Wow. Just wow. This place is awful. Brought my father-in-law's car there for repairs, needed a timing belt replacement and we were quoted over $1600 for a job that I wound up completing myself for $80. They returned the car with multiple parts missing, I called to have them save the parts, and when I showed up to pick up said parts, they stated that they had "thrown them out". It took over 3 days and multiple trips to this place to have them finally replace the needed parts. Only to realize one of the parts was incorrect. When I notified the parts employee and asked him to exchange it for the correct part, his response was simply "I have nothing to do with the service department, service and parts are two different worlds". I didn't even know how to respond. You all work for Pep Boys, don't you? It took 4 people to get me the correct part. If they can't handle this situation correctly I can only imagine how these guys are repairing cars. Steer clear of this place! read more

I wasn't going to waste my time leaving a review but I thought people should know about this place. My battery died on me so I got a jump and drove to Costco to buy a high quality battery for about $80, but they ran out so I look at pep boys online add and they had a less quality battery for about $130 but was on sale for $100. So I go there and asked for the battery. They told me that's online price so they can't give it to me for that price. Fine, I use my phone and order it online and then I bought the battery. Pep boys suppose to install the battery for you if you buy one. They said they can't do it then and if I can come back on Tuesday. I told them my battery is dead. Nope didn't care. This was on Sunday and they weren't busy at all because I first pulled into the shop because I figured they'll just install it for me and it was empty. Mind you, it takes less than 5 minutes to change the battery. I had to take it home and didn't have the right tool so had to bother my neighbor for the tool. It took me 5 minutes at most. Then next day had to drive back to pep boys to return the old battery. I have never met such a lazy group of people working at a suppose to be professional shop. read more

Don't bother! I just wanted tires. They only had 2 . I was OK and wanted the discount. I was told they will be in 2 days later. Called everyday after the second day got run around. Today called kept on hold for 15 minutes. While they look. Told me they would call back. Never did. I showed up angry 2 hours later and they found them in 5 minutes. Looked like they never searched before. The manager Feroze Rasheed forgot I was a customer and was more upset with me than fixing my problem I will never go back. Terrible. read more

Making an appointment online is a waste of time. Made an appointment online for 1 pm. When I got to there, I was told that it would be about 30-40 minutes before my car could be serviced. That would still be under an hour since it only should take about 15 minutes to do an oil change. It was over two hours before any work was done! I understand that making an appt online does not guarantee that it would be done at that exact time. But when I get there if they said it would be over an hour I would not have done it. read more

I needed 4 tires for my Honda, and though I read some mixed reviews for Pepboys in Bayside overall they seemed better than the Midas tire in Great Neck, so I gave them a call. I spoke with Chris who was professional courteous & helpful & I got the price quote for my tires. I called back later that day to schedual an appointment and Dave answered the phone and when I started to go over the pricing from Chris he seemed to think it would be more and he mentioned an additional charge BUT when I disagreed he quickly got Chris who went over the pricing again because I was getting the buy 3 get 1 free deal. Chris gave me the exact same quote from earlier and I schedualed the appointment for the following monday ( It was then wednesday) After hanging up I realized that on the pepboys website it also mentioned a $50 rebate for the tires I was buying, but the rebate expired in 2 days and my appointment was for 3 days after that! I called Chris back and mentioned the rebate and asked if I could change my appointment to Friday so I could get the rebate, Chris assured me he would honor the rebate on Monday and would just take the $50 right off my bill! My appointment was for 8am and they were ready for my car. Kadeem was the mechanic who did my tires and also an oil change that I needed, and he pointed out my inspection had just expired oops! so he did that as well. Pepboys also honored their $19.99 oil change deal with out me having to print and bring the coupon. Overall they did a great job in a timely manner. The only reason I left off a star was because of my brief phone chat with David who may have been trying to overcharge or he may just have been unaware of the full details of the deal pepboys was advertising. As of this writing it's been 2 weeks on my new Falken tires and I am very happy with them as well as Pepboys. I will definitely use Pepboys again. read more

Just wanted to share my positive experience here. On my way home one night, I ran over a giant pothole on the highway and one of my tires got a bubble on it. I freaked out and didn't know what to do, but I knew Pep Boys was nearby. So I frantically drove over to the garage. The mechanic there, Kadeem, took a look at my tire, and told me it definitely needed to be replaced. Although the store was closing in 10 minutes, he told me he would replace the tire for me if my tires were in stock. Luckily for me, they were. Another person (unfort didn't get his name) helped me choose the tire I needed, and 20 minutes later, and I was good to go. I was so grateful they were nice enough to deal with me although they were getting ready to close the store for the night. They were super friendly and helpful and I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off or upcharged because of my last minute emergency. read more

This place is horrible. This is the third time I got an oil change from them. Two out of three times, they took almost 3 hours just to get my car back to me. The first time I understood because I didnt schedule an appointment but this last time I had an appointment scheduled and still didnt get my car back for almost three hours later. I dropped my car off at 255 and my appointment was for 3 and by 5, I got no call from them so I decided to walk over since they are around the corner from me. I went in and the guy had my car on the lift just draining the oil out then. So I asked the guy when is it going to be done because I had to pick someone up by 6. He told me 20 minutes more. So i sat and waited this was 510 at this point of time. I waited and peeked through the window at the guy doing my car and the guy left my car and went someplace else. So I sat back down again and peeked out again at around 520 and then again at 530 and my car was still on the lift and the guy working on the oil change was still nowhere In sight. By 540, I got so frustrated and went out to them and said "I need my car back right now I have to go". So the guy who was at the computer finally rang me up and told the guy to go put the oil in my car right Now. He found the guy who was changing my oil by the cash registers doing something else. So the guy ran back and finally finished with my car. This was about 550 pm. It was a bad experience again this time. And my advice to anyone would be that they are only good for oil changes if you can get an appointment early in the morning or have hours to spare. Also, they are ok with tire changes and small work done on your car. But if you are having major trouble with your car like brakes or engine trouble, do NOT take it to them. These people to me are not mechanics really. To me I compare them to nursing assistants....they are not even nurses or doctors. They just assist with minor things like inspections, tires, oil changes and windshield wiper changes. Anything major please go to your actual mechanic. read more

I dont usally write reviews but i HATE this pepboys. They are suppose to be my neighborhood mechanics but none of them know what they are doing and also are not certified. I have been coming here for months and this has to be the number 1 worst customer service i ever experienced. I been coming there for weeks for them to tell me how to fix my car and they told me to buy the part to fix it because they dont sell it there. So i bought the part and when i brought it none of them knew how to do it and also told me that is not the part i needed. Then the lead mechanic told me to take it to the maker of my car to get it fixed. All while saying this with a horrible attitude. They quickly apologized and said they would call when they found the part and no one has called me which im not surprised about. I dont even want to go there to get a oil change or the most simple thing done to my car. I dont trust them and they dont know what they are doing. Ive almost had a few car accidents regarding the same issue that they cannot fix. NEVER AGAIN!!! They need to close and put a auto zone or another mechanic shop. If you have a problem with your car or just need a simple tune up, i advise not to go there. I hate writing bad reviews but this has to be my first ever. If you don't want to get ripped off, I sincerely urge you to stay away from servicing your vehicle at this Pep Boys location! For some reason we lost radiator coolant on a Honda Civic. They diagnosed the problem for 38.00 dollars. They called me and informed me that there were three holes in the radiator (hard to believe), the upper and lower hoses were leaking, various sensors and a thermostat needed to be replaced,etc.... Knowing cars, I found this to be excessive. I asked what it would cost, they stated almost $1,300 dollars. Sarcastically, I asked him if he was nuts. This was an absurd cost for a so called radiator leak. Close to 900.00 in labor alone. I asked why so much on a job that should take three hours at most, they stated that don't charge labor by the hour but rather the task. So they wanted $231.00 to install the radiator, 126.00 to install the hoses, $105.00 to install a thermostat, etc... At that point, I refused the service and had the car picked up. Here is where it gets worse. I had the car towed to a shop I trust. My mechanic has pressured tested the coolant system, let the car idol for several hours, has test driven the car and has yet to find a leak. You would think that if the radiator had three holes as diagnosed by Pep Boys, he would have immediately noticed the problem. I'll leave it for you to draw your own conclusion! read more

My husband and I have having our car serviced at the Bayside Pep Boys garage for a couple of years now and have consistently had EXCELLENT service! Most recently, we had an inspection done in January and had a tire changed. Later the same day, the tire air pressure indicator came on in the car and although it was close to closing time, your employee, Myles Mohammed had us bring the car in and took the time to review the car and tires to determine what the issue could be. We discovered it was due to the car reading an imbalance in the tire height since we had one new tire and 3 old tires. In late March, a week after an oil change, the car started sounding weird. Knowing we had several children activities to travel to the next day, I called the garage that Friday afternoon and spoke with Myles again. He suggested bringing the car in and offered to look at it. Myles personally reviewed the car along with his mechanic and determined the catalytic converter was cracked and that the car was in fact unsafe to drive. Since the parts warehouse was closed by that time, Myles would have to wait to call them in the morning to see if the part was available. I then asked if he would install the part if I were to get it from the dealer. He said if I got him the part, he could have his mechanic install it that night. I immediately called the dealer, they had the part, I went to pick it up and Myles had it installed that night. We greatly appreciated the attention and immediate response Myles gave us in addition to the professionalism he provided. We've had our car serviced by many garages over the years, but am happy to say that all our experiences with Pep Boys so far have been great! In addition, the pricing has always been reasonable. All the employees at the Bayside branch have been nothing short of professional and Myles Mohammed is a standout among the crew as evidenced by our experiences described above. this place is a joke. came here for service before thanksgiving and they took the whole day. waited outside for them to open and dropped off car. the workers there didnt start on the car until 2-3pm and wasnt done until 5pm. customer service is awful. the way they treat you. they dont want you back. the workers there are unprofessional but perhaps 1-2 people there. quoted me a price the same as the dealership. next time i will just head to the dealership where i am valued and respected and where customer service is number 1. when i was about to pay for the job. 95% of the workers departed offsite to aid in the assistance of returning a ring. there was bit of a damage to the car and i asked to see the video cameras so i can determine if it was them or not, the dude (due to understaffing and the rest of the crew heading out to deal with the ring issue) refused indicating that only supervisors/ employees and police officers can see it. i asked to speak to the supervisor, i was told that she is quite busy on the phone taking a personal call. waited a long time before someone came to check the videos for me. i left feeling uncomfortable and i will not recommend this place. these people are poorly managed and they have the worst customer service. read more
