I don't really write reviews but I am livid with this shop! If I can give it negative stars I would! I already have a friend who used to have a high position at Pepboys (now retired) who told me not to go there. But it's walking distance to my apartment and they service CardAdvise fleet cars so I went there against my better judgment. Dropped off my car yesterday at 10am. Explained everything. Approved the services requested through CarAdvise. CarAdvise told me earlier today that they approved the services around 4pm CST (2pm AZ time). I called around 3pm and they said they are waiting on approval from CarAdvise so they have not started anything yet. Mind you they already added request for more services worth more than 2k that I declined. I wanted them to just change my spark plugs. I called around 3 and they said it's not ready blaming it on approval. They said they will close at 6 so I probably will have to pick up my car the next morning. Fine. Next morning comes and I received a call around 9:30 thinking they are telling me I can pick up my car. No. They asked me what the problem is and what needs to be done! He said he's not the manager I talked to the day before so he doesn't know whats going on! They have not started anything yet! Yesterday, when I went to my car, one of the mechanics stopped me and said that they don't have tools to replace the spark plugs on my Subaru Forester. That they can't do it. I told him no one inside told me that and he just said because they don't know anything, they dont know how to fix cars. Unbelievable. The manager even asked why I wanted the spark plugs changed, whether because of mileage or I'm just guessing. Please save yourselves headache. Don't bring your car here. I should've listened to my friend. Even the guy from CarAdvise was flabbergasted. It's ridiculous. All 3 guys I talked to yesterday were there when I picked up my car and none of them can look at me. read more

Pep boys had cancelled my appointment on me 3 different times. All after they were accepted online.

My AC broke down last year and then broke down almost exactly a year later. The compressor blew out both times. As it turns out the second time pep boys put way too much freon into low pressure and caused it to blow again. And they also put the radiator on crooked. When I asked for a workmanship warranty I was told they can't provide that I cause I provided my own parts. But here's the thing they did the work incorrectly. Then they gave me an estimate for 1800 dollars 500 more than other mechanics that do a better job. Not satisfied with their customer service or their workmen ship. Will never go back here again. If there's a way to put zero stars I would. read more

I had brought in a rim to be replaced on one of my tires. The next day when I go to drive my vehicle the tire is flat and they replaced the wrong rim. Which happens I get it people are human they make mistakes. However, when I brought it back the manager Matt tried to tell me that I shouldn't be upset claiming my other rim was clearly damaged which is completely false. I asked for my $30 back to install the rim and he would not reimburse me. He had zero customer service experience. Don't worry though he told me "don't worry next time you come in I will remember you and give you a free oil change" thanks Matt but I think I'll take my business else where with competent people. read more

BELIEVE ALL OF THE BAD REVIEWS* came in today for a full diagnostic as promised by one of the representatives on Saturday, Uri the guy at front desk told me I was here for an oil change which wasn't accurate. We weren't greeted, as soon as we walked in he seemed irritated that we were there. I was coming to get codes looked at due to a light on my dashboard. I guess the guy wasn't in that originally spoke with, and Uri the guy that took care of me and my friend wasn't filled in but he had the worst attitude ever. The guy I spoke to on the phone was very nice!! so I was happy and excited to patron a mechanic that could possibly be my regular mechanics. Uri was so rude I began to record everything on my phone in disbelief at his attitude and horrible customer service skills, when we first walked in his whole demeanor was rude, not apologetic that we had wasted time and gas. He told me an oil change was 148 and we were fully prepared to pay for it because he said where we bought the car was closed and and it had to be approved, he didn't ask if we wanted to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed through our car company he just basically rushed us out and wanted us gone, he's losing the company money because we would have paid out of pocket until everything was sorted out we just wanted to make sure our car was okay. I asked for his manager and he told me her name was Annette but didn't have a card or any contact info. I mean I don't expect much from a chain like pep boys auto, but I did expect Atleast some human decency and for Uri to Atleast be apologetic. I will be contacting corporate or whoever I have to to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Arrive 20 minutes before closing time, was told they cannot help me with a flat tire because they close in 20 minutes. No other customers were at the counter or vehicles in the tire changing bay. I have a car care service plan which I used 2 times in the past, this time they refused an oil change and tire rotation because the coupon has 25000 miles on it and my Jeep only has 18300 miles but the time for service was due. After calling my service plan they approved the service, so Pepboys never even called in for it. Then they stated on recipe they did a tire rotation but but never did it they told me if I wanted it done they would charge me for it. I would never use them again. Larry and the boys do a great job of keeping you updated, Sure it takes awhile sometimes to let fluids drain, fluids fill and they can become busy with other vehicles but wouldn't you want as much dirty oil drained out before putting clean oil in??? I was charged $100 to replace a $5 fuse. Avoid this place if at all possible. Very unreasonable cost based on incompetence. My car wouldn't start, I replaced the battery and it still wouldn't start. I called roadside assistance and they towed me here, the closest place to where I was broken down. They were going to charge me $17 to test my starter. About an hour later, I was called and informed the starter tested fine and they needed to do 'further diagnostics' of the electrical system, which would be $90. I said fine, figuring this was the next logical step. When the repair was complete, I was informed it was a blown fuse. I asked if it were a fuse that could only be discovered by the 'further diagnostics' and was told no, it was a visual inspection that discovered the problem. Mike 'nicely' took off the original $17 charge, but with 'shop fees,' I paid $100 to have a fuse replaced. When I picked up my car, I paid the bill, as I had approved the charge, but i shouldn't have been charged for additional testing, considering this was discovered and apparent with visual inspection. I didn't think to ask if this had been done as 1. I'm not a mechanic and 2. I assumed the 'professionals' would have checked the most obvious first. Additional testing should have never been required. For all I know, the fuse was identified and replaced prior to calling for the additional authorization. When I called back to ask about the incompetence, I was told I paid for the diagnostic that informed them nothing was wrong. Highly shady. Will be posting this review elsewhere and reporting to attorney general office. read more

DO NOT go here. I had an appointment at 11am for an oil change and to check on my brakes. At 4:30 I get a call saying that their air compressor wasn't working all day so they just started on my car. At 5 I get a call that they need to hold my car overnight because their technician left and wasn't able to do my brakes until tomorrow. I had to have my car tomorrow morning to get my windshield replaced at 8am. They also didn't call me but had someone I know within the store call me?????? Told them to forget about the brakes and just do the oil change. Get there after I get a text saying that it's ready. Go inside and wait for five minutes and the guy at the front didn't apologize for anything. Not mad about the fact that their air compressor wasn't working (stuff happens I get it) but to not call to let me know until 4:30 and then not apologize for any of it is ridiculous. Ok so this sounds like a bad story that ended right. All because of the great service from manager Ben and his team. I had a low beam headlight that went out. I went to Pep boys to find a replacement light for my Volkswagen. Long story short an employee who was only trying to help messed up my light socket. I was very upset and frustrated thinking that I would have to go back and put up a fight for them breaking it. To my surprise Ben listened to me and no questions asked he looked at the damage and had one of his guys fix both lights at no charge for the inconvenience. Truly appreciate this kind of service to accept mistakes but also ensure quality and customer service. I don't know where to even start with this review! The service provided by Rudy and the Manager Anette was just purely vile and absolutely disgusting! I am appalled at the sordid, despicable, ugly and just all together horrific customer service. I had my car there for 7 days before we had a MASSIVE altercation provoked by Rudy and Manager Anette, resulting in me, having my insurance go pick up my car and tow it elsewhere in order to avoid another altercation. They tried to tell me they wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee when they never checked out the vehicle. After this discussion, they said they didn't find anything wrong with my car. I told them something is wrong with it for it to have the issues I experienced. I reiterated the issues again and Rudy then tells me, "we were not told about any of this". I said that was the whole reason why I had to be towed here. I was not able to drive the car. What have they been doing all week with my car? I called everyday it was there mind you, and they never did ANYTHING that they said they were going to do. I would always reinforce that I needed my car so that I can return to duty as I need to keep my income coming and they would what seemed like, genuinely reassure me that they would have done at least whatever task they expressed they would do by the end of each day until the end of the week, they tried to tell me the same thing. I had it by that point. Immediately, I feel I wasted a whole week of nothing done with my car nor was it ever looked at. My dad was concerned at how upset I was that he called them up as well and Rudy was being very disrespectful to him and he gave the phone to Manager Anette when he was telling him how he was coming across. When he began speaking with Manager Annette, she also became disrespectful on the phone and hung up on my dad's face. I'm a First Responder, an EMT and I broke down on my way to duty. Due to their negligence and blatant disrespect, I had to call off duty for multiple shifts this week and lose out on very much needed income and First Responders already make minimal pay. I will NEVER go to a Pep Boys again! I'm so disappointed in you guys. Truly despicable. Now if you need some good service, go to Meineke and ask for JD, he will take very good care of you without all the BS! read more

The drivers door window would not work. In taking the vehicle to Pep Boys, they replaced a $244 part that was not needed and the window still doesn't work. After the fact, they told us they could do a $44 diagnostic check to see what might be wrong but would not credit the $244 nor return it. What a rip off!!! WOMEN AND YOUTH BEWARE!!!! My vehicle's brake switch broke. I figured I'd take it to Manny Moe and Jack's Pep Boys on Arizona Avenue and Frye. I had NO IDEA HOW DISHONEST they are! The mechanics checked and confirmed the brake switch was bad and said the cost of the brake switch was $30 to $40 and Labor around $200. Not feeling comfortable with their prognosis, I left and checked with an auto parts store and discovered the part was actually $9.00. That's right NINE DOLLARS! When I told the parts place how much Pep Boys had quoted, they recommended Mil Amores located at 617 E Chandler Blvd, Chandler, AZ 85225. I called Mil Amores, took my vehicle in and the cost of the part was under $10 and the Labor was $30 - a total of $40 and NOT $240. I RECOMMEND STAYING FAR FAR AWAY FROM MANNY MOE AND JACK BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY DISHONEST! Instead go somewhere else. I've gone here for tires, service, and repairs for three of my past vehicles. The prices are fair. I canvased prices from other shops and Pep Boys were the least expensive. The service is good. The mechanics I've dealt with were honest. They don't try to up-sell you just to make sales. On a couple of occasions, I've even had mechanics inform me that I didn't need to get my rear brake shoes changed, just the pads in the front. The rewards program is great, especially if you're getting major service done. I once earned enough points to get an $80 Pep Boys gift card after getting the 120,000 mile maintenance service done. read more

I have had to use this pep boys because it's closest to my house and my fleet coupons require using pep boys. I've been many times over the last two years (even pre-Covid) and it's awful every time. No less than an hour wait even with an appointment, usually 2 hours. They didn't do all the maintenance on the coupon that I specifically requested. Today was the last straw, I was told that essentially online appointments do not really mean anything, only called in appointments are honored. This is an overdue review. I came in to service my second car ai just bought at 2007 PT Cruiser and I just drove it from California. It turned out 3 motor mounts were broken and the AC had issues and Fidel worked with me and gave me a great price and was able to fix my car the next day with no issues. He was very helpful and had no problems explaining to me (I'm not a car person) exactly what was wrong and I appreciate that. My only issue is that I waited all day to get a diagnostic and was told it was only going to be a few hours but I'll take it because I didn't make an appointment and I just walked in. She let me know about a great deal on brake they were having. When I came into the store we ran into a slight issue Ernestina Cardona and Joey Uballe took care of me and made sure I left the store not just with what I went for but with true satisfaction. 10 year customer never coming back I have brought 5 different cars to this place in the last 10 years for various reasons, from simple oil changes to more complicated stuff. I won't be doing that anymore. Brought my car in 8 months ago complaining of the a/c not blowing cold out of all vents. 8 hrs and $500 later, they said it was fixed; it wasn't. Tried to show them and they wanted to charge me another fee to diagnose and then more to fix the problem they say was fixed in the first place. No thank you. Was told by their service manager before, when it took 2 hours for an oil change, they had to give walk-ins priority. Sounded like I was in some messed up reality, but, fine, whatever. I bring in my car for an oil change and new battery on a walk-in and am told that there'd be a 5 hour wait because now they are giving appointments priority. No apology, no explanation beyond that by Jamie, whoever he is in the management chain; but he did still manage to tell me it would be a long wait even for a battery. This shop appears to be run by a bunch of idiots who can't communicate and keep their stuff straight. I've spent thousands of dollars at this shop but I will be taking my business elsewhere - like to their Tempe shop who ranks a star better than this bin of jokers. Note to Pep Boys: maybe you wouldn't have to send out so many stupid coupons if you trained your people and had management that cared about customer service and not ripping people off. Thought I would give Pep Boys a chance to work on my truck I called And made an appointment for a front wheel alignment and the appointment was for 11 AM I arrived early around 1030 am to check in just to be told that they had put my appointment down for 12 noon Needless to say I was very disappointed and the person I was speaking with just stared at me and acted like he didn't give a shit so when I said how long will it take for the alignment he said around an hour and a half well the day before when I called and made the appointment I was told one hour obviously they did not need my business and nor did he try to reschedule I should've just taken it to the Chevy dealer Lesson learned read more

It's taken to another pep boys to be told it will cost $1200 because of a pump issue. You think they would apologize and offer to give a partial refund!
