I made an appointment for 9am and bought 4 tires online. I went as far as printing the receipt and showing the cashier the confirmation. All he could say is that he couldn't help me because I was not in the system and that i should have "called to confirm". Even though I had done the steps online to ensure service to my vehicle. I really needed to get this done as I live in a remote location in a mine. He suggested I go to the other PepBoys and when I asked him to call the other establishment he rejected my request. Dont buy tires at pep boys. I have purchased 2 sets of tires from the store on scottsdale. This last set, one of the tires loses pressure slowly so it will go down 20lb every two months then i have to find a place to pump it up. Finally took it to this pep boys and they wanted me to pay $23 to fix it even though the original salesman told me if i had any problems they would fix it. Anyway when i came back to have it fixed the guy said it didn't have a leak. I told him then why do i keep having to pump up that same tire? Then he insisted that thats normal. I have never had a tire that i had to pump up every 2 months. At any extent i think he just didn't want to do anything. I will be making a complaint to the corporate office. I suggest going elsewhere if you want a responsible tire company. read more

On 8/31/15 around 9:30 am I called and had a Bosch Platinum battery for my 04 acura tl put on hold for me to pick up later in the day as they said it was the last one they had. I went to the store at 6:30 pm to pick it up and the guy behind the counter could not find it. Another salesman said it was sold a few hours ago to someone with a honda accord. No apology was given, or offer to help find a replacement possibly. All they did was say they could get another one in the morning. I told them my car probably won't start now that I turned it off in the parking lot so I don't have that option. The salesman did not even try to help me figure out what they could do, so I walked over to the battery section to look up another choice (still no help from any employee) and I decide to leave and my luck was with me as my car barely started. I will never give this business another dollar..... I went to Oreillys up the street past Chandler Blvd and spent more on a redtop Optima since their customer service was outstanding. The worst customer service I have ever experienced at ANY car shop. Especially the "manager" Sergio. I got my 4 tires from them and paid for the extended guarantee plan. From the moment we stepped into the store due to a flat tire, we didn't get any greeting, asked us "what do you want?" not showing the minimum concern about his customers. After we explained to him what we needed he asked for the keys and canes back to ask for which tire was it twice. After an hour of sitting there, he told us it was unrepairable and they didn't have our tire. read more

After a 10-hour day at work, I discovered a nail in my front tire. Every tire shop in the area was closed already, but Pep Boys was still open. After jacking up the car and removing the tire, I brought the tire over, thinking I could just get it plugged and be on my way. But Rodney the mechanic and Ben the assistant manager both pointed out that the nail was in the "danger zone," and I would need a new tire. Not having money in the budget for a new tire, I tried to figure out what I could do. After a few minutes, Ben came over and offered to sell me a brand new tire at a greatly discounted price, saying that he wanted to get me back on the road safely. I almost fell over. He genuinely meant it and he told me that his whole crew takes their customers' safety seriously. I believed him. Ben is a rare find in customer service, and really turned a bad situation around and made it into a great experience. I grabbed a bunch of his cards and gave him a hug, and would send my friends and loved ones to him because I believe he will actually take care of them. I was lured into pep boys by their free membership and a good tire deal for my Silverado about 5 years ago and have used them since with this store I frequent the most. Staff has been friendly and cooperative and prices have been fair and often a good deal. My vehicle breaking down has never happened at an ideal time, but they have always had it fixed by the time they said. I have never been over charged or found extra mystery charges. If you're whining about oil changes taking to long, perhaps you should learn to change your own oil as they are a full service establishment not a quickielube. read more

Great Service! Really glad I went to PepBoys, it was late and Chris, an Auto Technician at PepBoys helped me with a problem with my exhaust system at 7pm at night. I am surprised there still people that enjoy doing there job and willing to help other people, especially right before they are about to close the shop. We had the opportunity to get a second opinion and found out that, No, we didn't need back brakes (at least 75000 miles estimated to go before we need those), No, we don't need a new thermostat (computer plugged in to the vehicle for a long time shows it's operating "just fine"), No, we don't need a new water pump (absolutely nothing wrong there), No, we don't need a coolant flush ("Wow, your car is in great condition for having 100K miles), and No, we aren't going to be upsold on crap we just didn't need. CROOKS!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Took my car in for brake issues. Talked to a very nice gentlemen on the phone prior to going assuring me that he would look out for me on the cost. Upon arriving, had a young lady wait on me who obviously has very little to no training, knew nothing about online coupons or discounts or the "free brake check" promo. (big reason why i chose them) Then the estimate phone call~!! OVER 1200 dollars!!! saying nothing could be done until Tuesday because they had to special order calipers??? I immediately told them i was coming to get my car. Took to get another estimate....489 dollars.. mechanic said the calipers were not even worn and has NO IDEA why they would say they needed to be replaced. While my experience didn't start out great, the management team made it right by being honest, apologetic and understanding of my own situation. I had a scheduled appointment for 8am on a Saturday for 4 new tires. Due to reasons unknown to me at the time, the store did not open on time, technicians were not at work, etc. All I knew at the time is that my appointment was not being kept and I was growing increasingly frustrated. While one of the staff tried to apologize and explain the delay, it was not satisfactory to me and as I waited nearly 5 hours for tires to be changed, my day was quickly getting behind. After writing to www.pepboys.com and explaining my situation and frustration, the management team contacted me and offered a partial refund of services. Obviously, this didn't make up for the time lost, but it squared it with me and allowed me to see that this management team takes ownership and has accountability for the actions of their staff and store. Mike was very understanding and apologetic and explained the situation to me which turned out to be a series of unforeseen events. Great experience with the Pep Boys staff this evening. I had a flat on my recently purchased vehicle, and had a tire shipped directly to their storefront from an online retailer. The tire arrived today and I set a reservation for this evening after work. Mike, the Gen Mgr, was very gracious throughout the process, and when my car was completed and there was some difficulty completing my work order, they offered me the $25 in services at no charge. After reading people reviews for stores around 85225 I find there's a pattern, I encountered a experience yesterday with Terrel (checkout message from Kiersten M 4/11/2021 mention about Terrel...interesting still working there training?) n in past (Xmas timeframe with store manager, Scott y) the price inconsistent. I was quoted $18 a week ago today brought in was $22 for oil change bring my own supplies. Transaction 112689. San Diego I had a better experience. Transmission fluid exchange about a month ago was great. Today's this person, Terrell price not correct n was waiting in shop n received txt when service was done. Weird, I mention I would wait there. For this one is ok but the pricing is bad.  Scott last Xmas says we never do transmission fluid drain n fill less than $150. Ok, few months later got it less than $150.  This is very inconsistent. How can this be fix? I'll try again one more than will go to bbb or perhaps abc15. I wish I had an option to put zero stars because you people suck that bad. I made an appointment at 9AM for 4PM today. I was told that the mechanics go home at 5PM. I got here at 4PM exactly. I waited, patiently, for an hour and checked on the mechanic because I was told it only takes an hour. The mechanic told me that he's just now getting started on my car. They gave me absolutely no notice at all. So, since I live on the other side of PHX it's safe to say that it will take me an hour and a half to get home. TERRIBLE customer service. This was the first time I stopped at this Pep Boys. I'll admit it was out of pure necessity, as my battery was dead and I was on my way home from work. I stopped in around 6:30 p.m. and Ben was a huge help. Took his time to look up for a battery they didn't have any in stock according to his computer. It didn't went above and beyond and came outside to look at my battery in my car so let me see what I can find. A few short minutes later and came out and said I found something that'll work for you backer up in and I'll go ahead and put it in for you. So I backed in my car they took about 10 minutes swapped out the batteries and I was good to go. I wish I could remember the text name that actually replace the battery I don't but he was very efficient and professional as well. That would especially like to give a shout out to Big Ben, I'm honestly not sure if he was a manager or an employee but he was awesome. I would come back here any time I needed any automotive supplies or work I would drive 15 20 30 miles to come here. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

Asked why it was taking so long, reply, it takes at least an hour to put tires on. I think he means it takes an hour for his guys to remember that they have stuff to do. 2:15 and we are finally done, late for two appointments. I worked with Ben my service adviser, who did a great job of explaining that I did not need an expensive repair but rather replace a component. He also pointed out that I was low on fluids. We scheduled an online appointment on 4/20/18, for our son to get an oil change on 4/21/18 at 10:00AM. My son left to drop off vehicle at Pepboys around 8:00AM, we live about 5 minutes away. Son asked the person at the service desk when would the car be done? Employee replied "they will probably start working on it around 10am. My son explained he had to work, so he needed the car by noon. At around 11:20, my son called thinking his car was already serviced, and Albert told him they had a delay, but his car was next to be serviced, and quickly got him off the phone. I called back at 11:25am, spoke to Albert and explained, we had a 10am apt., we dropped it off at 8am, informed Pepboys my son had to work and the car was needed by noon. Albert told me, they were about to pull it in and it would be done in 45 minutes, we went along with that. I told Albert that we would be there in 45minutes to pick it up. I called at 12:56pm, just before we pulled into Pepboys, Scotty answered my call. Scotty said the car was not ready, it was waiting to be pulled in for service. I was upset, my son was already late for work, here we are, 1pm thinking the car was finally done but nothing had been done! What is wrong with this Place??? This is not the first time either, Pepboys in Chandler, just can't get it together. One time, my husband was sent home after getting an oil change at Pepboys, thank goodness he caught the oil leak right away. He called Pepboys and was told to drive back, Pepboys apologized, they said the drain plug was not tightened! Pepboys refilled oil back up, tightened-up the drain plug, and like magic, no more oil leak. Anyhow, I explained to Scotty in great detail today's situation (stated above stated) I explained every single attempt (via in person or via phone) to inform Pepboys we needed car done by noon and every time they said it would be done. Scotty's reply was very disrespectful, and he acted like I was lying to him. After I told Scotty I had an apt. he said "you don't". Later in conversation he saw that we did have an apt. but didn't even bother to apologize. When I told him the car was dropped off at 8AM, he said no, you dropped it off around 9:30am. My son called me from Pepboys parking lot, after he went through the line and had given possession of car keys; time stamp on call, 8:20AM, I was a minute away, he was standing outside. In addition, both my husband and son left at the same time (8AM) we live about 5 minutes away from Pepboys. Scotty, I know what time the vehicle was dropped off! Pepboys employee's need to understand that rushing repairs out the door can result in improper repairs which is a form of negligence and can jeopardize customer's safety. Also, telling their customers what they say is not true, is calling them a liar. Scotty didn't agree when I called him on this! I don't lie, if anything, I'm brutally honest! This treatment is not acceptable! No service was done to vehicle, my son needed his car to go to work! Pepboys, maybe you should train your staff on being upfront and honest! read more

My experience with the Pep Boys Store located at 400 S Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 was a disaster. I purchased a car stereo, the required installation adapters and kits, and requested an installation. I did this on August 25, 2014. The installation finally occurred yesterday, September 2, 2014. Unfortunately, the parts that were ordered by the sales representative were not correct-and I had already waited over a week. After great discussion, 4 visits to the store, arguments with 4 employees over the less than stellar service I was receiving I finally had the stereo installed. The Kenwood System works well. The system is not installed well into the dash, as one side is not flush and the unit is not square but on an angle. The greatest disappointment I have is with the horrid customer service. The store employees tend to be able to sell items within the store, and then lose ability to provide appropriate service that is satisfying to the customer. If a person is able to buy a stereo unit at the store, and the store offers installation services, the customer should expect the best in installation, with service given in a timely and professional manner. This single comment- among many that could be sited- will suffice. I was talking with the installer, who was complaining to me about the problems he was facing in installing the unit. I was told that perhaps I should have gone to a different store rather than bring my business to Pep Boys, one that did these installations more often than Pep Boys, and not expect the services (for which I had paid) from them but are obviously present in a different company. My response: "I believed that Pep Boys was a reputable business. If Pep Boys is a reputable business they would have competent sales personnel and competent installers for items presented for sale and installation." I then expressed my distress that the comments given to me were an assertion of my failings as a customer, who should know better. I then asked them, "Is the proper protocol at Pep Boys for dealing with customers with understandable dissatisfaction with the way they were treated was to make them feel guilty and stupid for trusting their company?" I am still very dissatisfied with this company, and this particular store. I did not receive value for my money. I wasted a great deal of time, and had my trust in this company tarnished beyond repair. I would suggest that no one go to this company for any work. I would suggest that if you do, you will not be given satisfaction. I am too tired to continue being jerked around by these people. I hope that if you are reading this review you will be freed from being dissatisfied by a company that has no shame in providing sub-standard service for premium service prices. I wouldn't generally go to this extent, but according to my wife that manages in a customer service based industry, she urged me to share my experience as she wishes more would do so for her. The good, the bad, and the ugly.... The good: I'm not generally a Pep Boys customer but thought I'd give you guys a try. I was guaranteed that when I dropped my truck off on a Sunday afternoon that the new tires would be installed and my front-end alignment complete by 4pm that day as I had to go to work. I showed up at 3:50pm and one tire was off.... Kind of a bummer as I had a bulged tire, but needed my truck nonetheless. I was very reasonable and could see that the store was extremely busy. Mike the manager was a very calm understanding individual that told me he'd give me a better deal if I came back to get the tires. I made an appointment for the next day. He's was extremely understanding and is the reason I decided to come back. The bad: two hours before I came back for my appointment I received a voicemail that stated the alignment techs leave at 5pm so I'd need to be there at 4pm to complete the work. I arrived at 4:07 and was told that due to 3 vehicles being before me that the alignment couldn't be accomplished. Fairly frustrated, yet calm, I spoke with Mike again and he thanked me for my patience and rewarded it with a discount on the alignment. So I got the tires done and made and appointment for the next morning to guarantee completion. (I'm typing this as my alignment is being completed) The ugly: This next point is why after this service I will unfortunately probably never visit this location again. A customer service employee by the name of Sergio made me want to walk out of the store/ loose my mind with the way he was treating me, belittling fellow employees, and undermining his manager in the presence of other employees and customers. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! To the level at which he took his poor attitude, made him not only an extremely poor employee, but a bad person overall. Examples: 1) He belittled another employee (I believe Bob, older man) that he doesn't know how to do his job and can't set an appointment correctly. Then proceeded to complain about how he had to do Bob's job and his and nothing could get done, in front of me, yet didn't offer to show him how to do it. Yet he "guaranteed" my appointment that could not be fulfilled. 2) When I tried to pay my invoice after my tires were installed I had a question about the road hazard warranty and Bob had a question where to find a link/literature that I was asking for. He then began to belittle him again and zeroed my invoice and had to start from square one. During the process I repeatedly asked for a pamphlet or literature on the road hazard program and the only thing he could come up with was him giving me his "word" they'd be pro rated. Ha! This persons word is as useful as a poopy-flavored lollipop. Due to his actions I declined the $89.99 road hazard warranty. Again, this was due to his actions alone. I can only imagine how much capital this could cost a company in the long run. And the icing on the cake with Sergio... 3) as he "re-did" my invoice, I could sense his disgust and my anxiety soared. He him n hawed and sighed the entire time. When he (Sergio) originally "fixed" my invoice it was $110 more than the original invoice. As I explained he remembered the price match he included on my invoice the day prior. Then when I explained that I was to receive 20% off he threw his hands in the air and exclaimed how the store will lose money with these "handouts". He couldn't believe his manager would be "dumb enough" to offer 20% off on top of a price match. The only thing his manager may be dumb for is keeping him, Sergio, as an employee. I'm embarrassed for your company, and the other employees that have to work with this person everyday. As a former member of the armed forces that knows a thing or two about teamwork, this individuals undermining and lack of teamwork are detrimental to any teams success. Thanks to Mike and Bob I may be back. I can't decide if their courtesy and humility can outweigh that of your bad seed, Sergio. Hope this finds the correct person. read more

Took my car in to have my TPMS sensors installed. I got a quote from their Service Manager Scott and came in the next day to get the sensors installed. The person who checked my car in didn't add relearning the sensors to the job list, although it was on the original estimate for $9.99. Akram, one of the technicians, did the job and is a very nice guy. But since the sensors weren't reprogrammed my TMPS sensor light came on the next day. I took it back in the next week to get it looked at and Scott said it would cost $40 to reprogram the sensors. I asked why it was so expensive? He said that the computer told him he needs to hook it up to a big computer to reset the sensors. I knew that wasn't required. All this was caused by his error and his team but he was to proud to admit he was wrong and didn't know what he was talking about. He flat out lied to me. I left telling him I would talk to his manager. After leaving Pep Boys I drove to Discount Tires on Chandler Blvd. I walked in and I told him my TMPS sensor light was on and he told me he would take care of it. He brought a out a handheld device and reprogrammed it in 2 minutes. He even put air in my tires. All this for FREE! I gave him a tip and left happy. Never going back to Pep Boys again. tl:dr: Scott, the service manager, is an idiot and doesn't know what he is doing. Pep Boys tries to rip you off. Go to Discount tire instead. read more

Can't complain. They gave me an honest price for a right drive axle for my son's 1997 Honda Accord. They did the job correctly and I'm happy about that. I have only used these guy's once before for shocks on a Nissan Pathfinder that I use to own. Only drawback was the wait in line to speak with the service tech.
