Observation Con's: Maybe the location, the parking lot, could be smoother, and the back could be bigger. (With that being said) Personal Opinion: This location is so much BIGGER than their size. Being a single mother, with a mobile business and limited resources, I have personal experience with how efficient their service is. Very very disappointing. I referred my buddy from work who I highly respect. who's undergoing cancer and heart treatment. He's a very sick man on disability and new to Arizona. I'd hoped they have treated him decent and with some dignity. They did not. They did not provide a quote and busted his AC. They did not have it fixed before he picked up the car to get his kids from school. He'd made his appointment and informed them of what his situation is. They assured him it'd be done. Before the car got there AC worked just fine. Temp that day was over 105. They didn't even do the simple fix to his door panels and handles. I had an old friend managed this shop for MANY years and ran a tight ship treating customers VERY well. My brother started his automotive career here over 20 years ago and is now a HIGHLY sought after master mechanic. So this shop has clearly gone downhill. I referred my friend to a second local shop called Christian Brother Automotive. They were everything Sun Devil is not. I told them the answer and I got a $2000 quote saying my rotors were cracked.. come to find out my rotors aren't cracked and I got the job done for about $400. I'm aware that whenever I take my car into be serviced I can expect a certain level of upselling or overpricing but when I took my car in for an oil change and asked for a simple quote on replacing 1 specific part (that I knew was the cause of my engine light to be on) the guy at the front desk tried telling me I had "Like 30 error codes and all roads lead to a needing a new transmission." When we asked for a print off of all the codes he handed us some bogus handwritten list with 10 codes on it, and its questionable if that was even the diagnostic from my car. I've since fixed the engine light issue at Aamco and didn't need a new transmission after all. I felt the need to post a negative review because of the sheer audacity this place had to try and rip me off. I'd highly recommend not getting your car worked on here but at the very least get a second opinion. These dudes are in the business of being sleazy mechanics. read more

I went initially to get an oil change, due to my drainage plug being too tight for me to undo myself without singeing off the ends of the bolt or stripping its threads. So i already had purchased the filter & oil, and headed over after talking to a gentleman on the phone & him telling me it would only cost $25 (i believe he had said). So it made my day hearing that, and i showed up hours early (cause they had me punched in an hour before close & i felt dreadful about that) but they took care of me in maybe an hour and a half (got me in among other customers & they were so nice the whole time) i felt bad for showing up early but once again they were so nice to me & thats usually hard to find nowadays. I'd recommend them, and i will be going back more than likely. They offer a lot of services & they are so nice, very helpful & even provide pictures of any issues your vehicle may have. I would say they are some of the most honest mechanics from what ive seen & experienced, and i would definitely give them a shot due to the level of professionalism i encountered. To answer the question above, EVERYTHING, Service Request, Quality and absolutely VALUE. Sorry in advance for this being so long, but everyone needs to be advised of the highway robbery and down right theft of the consumer being perpetrated by SUN DEVIL AUTO. Well, where do I begin with being screwed by Sun Devil Auto at Power and McKellips in Mesa. This location is by far the epitome of the classic auto shop RIP-OFF!!! I'll start at the beginning. In late 2019 my mom was having troubles with her transmission on a 2005 Trailblazer. I took it in and they said my transmission was shot and I needed it rebuilt at a cost of 2300.00. Keep in mind the vehicle only had about 45k original miles at this time, it was my elderly mom's car. My mom loved her car and wanted it fixed so I split the cost with her and had it done. Fast forward to 2024, 5 years later and now the car has 100k miles because my mom pasted away in late 2020 and gave me the car and we use it considerably more than she did. In late 2024 my wife heard a "thump" in the floorboard and shortly after we got a "check engine" light illuminate. I plugged my OBD in and found it was a transmission code for the torque converter clutch solenoid. Took it back to Sun Devil and they charged me 200.00 to diagnose the problem. Well FYI Sun Devil DOESN'T even do their own transmission work, they send it out to some other fly by night outfit. I went ahead and authorized it and guess what, they said I needed another transmission rebuild which would cost 2600.00 this time. I told them the cars value isn't even that much. Furthermore, they said the torque converter was coming apart and there was some water in the tranny fluid. I asked if there was anything they could do for me because the transmission was only 5 years old and had only 50k in miles since the last rebuild they did? I was told "NO" it was out of warranty and they wouldn't do anything. I told them do not touch it and I'll come pick it up. I picked it up and the charged me 200.00 for absolutely nothing. I was telling a friend about this and they knew a small trans shop that they had used, Hayes Tranmission. I took it there and Ryan the owner checked it out and wondered how they could diagnose the problem without at least pulling the pan off. Nevertheless, he checked it with his computer on a test drive, looked at the fluid and said he sees nothing at all wrong with it. He said his OBD shows that it is shifting at all the proper pressures and not a bit of slipping. I drove the car for a month or so with no problems at all and decided to take a trip with it to Saint Louis about 3500 miles round trip and I'm here to say, not one flipping problem at all. So now you can imagine my feelings for Sun Devil Auto now, THEY SUCK, AND THERE TRANNY shop Sucks Just as bad. Now fast forward to about 2 weeks ago. My son takes his 2013 Toyota Tacoma in for an oil change. When he picks it up they tell him his transmission output shaft seal is leaking and for 1398.00 they can fix it as good as new. I tell him to go get his truck and we'll take it back to Hayes Transmission and see what Ryan has to say. We took it in today and guess what, Ryan changed this seal for 85.00!!!! Sun Devil is a total ripoff and they will never get another nickel of my money again and I am going to tell everyone that will listen to me this story. Usually my husband does the work on my car but since he is an active duty serviceman, he is not home currently to work on it and recommended Sun Devil Auto for their good, honest work. Anthony was understanding and very professional while explaining what was going to be done for my car during its appointment. The best part is that it took less than an hour! ZERO. SCAM PLACE. To sum it up, Charged me 225$ for a battery, fine I needed one and with a 5 year warranty so I agreed. Then the next morning I couldn't even unlock my doors it was so dead. They said they were going to towe it over to them that day and then it didn't happen. I call and there was an "email" problem so they'll towe it the next morning. It's the next day at 9:30am my trucks still there, so I call again and they say the towe guys on his way. Now at 11, the towe guy calls me and can't find my car... The number to my townhouse is in my address... then he calls me at 1 and can't find my keys, so I walk him thru it again. I got no calls for the rest of the day and I call at 4:30pm to ask about if it got there and if it was looked at yet and James says "oh no one called and told you what was going on with it?" , I say no and he transfers me to Chris. I say that I'm a little upset now because idk where my car even is and what's been done to it so I told them to just stop working on it. So he HANGS UP ON ME and says to "call back later then". So now I'm super upset, I get there after work at 5 and ask them where my car is at and a print out of what they've done on it so far. James said he doesn't have any info on my vehicle then proceeds to try and charge me for a new ac compressor control (as on the bill) they put in WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE AT ALL. I said so you did do something to it.. He gave me the keys and said "I gave you your keys back though right?" then told me to not come back even tho I paid for a 5 year warrantied battery I just got from them. DO NOT GO HERE. JERKS!!! Sun devil auto on Main street is staffed by a pack of clowns. I took my car in for a sound coming from the serpentine belt. It sounded like it was just a tensioner pulley. A mechanic there told me that the noise was for sure a bad AC compressor. They even claimed two mechanics agreed on the diagnoses. $800 later I get my car back and it's making the same noise. I brought it back and it was just a tensioner pulled the entire time. They gave it to the mechanic the messed up to fix it. He looked at me like he had an attitude. The correct repair was only $150. They did it for free. A month later my engine seized. I checked the oil and it was empty. I just had an oil change three months prior. The car didn't leak or burn oil. I can almost guarantee the mechanic sabotaged my car by removing oil. So don't ever trust these guys. They should all be fired. The car only had 130k miles on it. read more

I would NOT, I REPEAT NOT, recommend this business to anyone. I had my car towed to this so called business for what should have been a simple and inexpensive repair. BIG MISTAKE as this decision has turned into a complete NIGHTMARE. Prior to my car being towed I spoke with the assistant manager JAMES twice to inform him that there is NO FOB and that the car has to manually be locked. Unfortunately James did not communicated to his staff and someone who works for this business locked the doors, which locked up the security system on the car. At their recommendation I paid Acme Locksmith to reset the security system; however, they were unsuccessful in their attempt and NOW MY CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THEIR ERROR. I have been informed that my car can not be repaired until the security system is completely dismantled or removed. Sun Devil Auto is REFUSING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS. I have patiently attempted to work unsuccessfully with the manager of this location (JOSH) AND THEN unsuccessfully with the REGIONAL MANAGER (also named JAMES) who also refuses to accept responsibility. So now my only option is to pay someone to removed the security system in order to get my car fixed and able to be driven again. I have been without a vehicle for over 4 MONTHS now while trying to get this resolved. Unfortunately I do not have the means at this time to pay to correct SUN DEVIL AUTO's ERROR. The way they have discarded me and my situation is beyond CRIMINAL. So my WARNING is to NOT USE THIS BUSINESS for any issue that my arise with your vehicle as they are NOT REPUTABLE on ANY LEVEL. Took my 2014 Ram truck for 2nd opinion after Midas declared I had compression faults, and estimated $4200 in repairs (after already charging me $2296. Maybe not their fault, but tested my compression and said it was FINE. Charged me $650 for radiator cooling fan + labor and fluids. That lasted 48 hours. Ended up with bad Starter, then 2 days later a blown engine. Can't blame them for everything, but I'm not very pleased with their "service". This is my second time going back to this place figured give them another chance the whole time I was working with a guy named Seth he did everything he could to make sure my vehicle was taken care of outstanding job I appreciate his work ethic... But the other guy that helps run the front calls me says not only is my starter bad he tells me my fly wheel has about 12 teeth that are grinder down to nothing so I take his word for it he racks on another 500 on to my bill so I tell them I want my old fly wheel back this guy was hesitant and making excuses like I couldn't get it back.so I get my car back starts better than I ever remember here's the kicker he gives me this fly wheel back the one that was supposedly missing 12 teeth now you tell me where are these 12 teeth that are missing giving them the reason to add 500 on to my bill I'm not mechanic or a math expert but I don't see not even one tooth missing on this thing like 6 have a little wear to them and I mean a little barley anything photos with review you tell me where are these 12 teeth that are wore down to nothing I'm contemplating going to small claims court I'm not a rich man and my bill ended at 800 something check these pics out and tell again the Seth guy up front was respectful and I feel actually did his job but the other guy got me ripped off 500 plus a couple little scratches that were not there before SMH read more

Went in for oil change asked for tire rotation and pressure on tires as well turns out only rotated passengers side could tell since I mark my tires because of situations like this and tire pressure suppose to be at 44 came home checked two of tires pressure at 30 lbs HORRIBLE SERVICEi. If I could rate it a ZERO, I would. I took my vehicle into the Sun Devil #1210 for a service and got back a crappy job. I left my vehicle for service, I discussed what I needed done and the service writer explained everything would be taken care of. We even discussed an issue that I had in the past about my center hub caps and he explaing that technicians use an air wrench to put them on and that ruins the hub cap. Well, after speaking and leaving my car for service I went and had breakfast, the service writer call to tell me my car was ready. I thanked him and went back to pick up my vehicle and pay for my service. I left and went to the nearest gas station on the corner only to see that 3 of my hub caps were missing and I noticed that the one that was still there was not even attached to the wheel - it was just sitting there - I went back to Sun Devil Auto to find one of the hub caps lying in their driveway, I found the other hub caps oout in the 3 lanes of traffic. I showed the service how his technician #001328-0.00 Diego did NOT bother to properly install my hub caps - 4 hub caps now are damaged and need to be replace - irony is the service person even explained how other people FUCK up putting hub caps back on rims - So I guess Sun Devil Auto is no better that the other has-been fly-by-night service centers out there - I HIGHLY recommend finding somewhere else to have your vehicle serviced - Seriously, what are these people thinking of ??? I really hope you read this and take my advice because not only am I out the cost of the service, now I out the cost of 45 new center hub caps about $200.00, a very expensive lube, oil and filter job read more

Just left the shop, and Russel was amazing! I had two issues with my car. First one was a loud sound coming from the car whenever I would accelerate & second my check engine light came on. I've noticed issues with my trans and have been seeking for help but because anytime the dealership/shop would test drive my car the issue wouldn't appear. Russel & his team fixed the noise coming from one of the rotors free of charge! Not to mention with my check engine light he advised that it was a computer issue/update that needed to be done so he gave me exactly what to show the dealership. My usual Sun Devil Auto is on Power Rd but they were too busy to take any alignment appointments today. They referred me to Seth and his crew on Main St who took my Subaru in promptly. We explained that we had just had a rack & pinion and cv axles installed and that our steering wheel was crooked. I called a week prior for confirmation of appt. they did not have it scheduled then made another one. Went to it in a timely manner. Went back to pickup my car and they explained they had to get the oil filters so it was on the rack. They further explained to me that the computers were down so would not be able to charge it. So 30 minutes later they called and said my car was ready. Then to top everything else the Mgr said they would honor my coupon by deducting $5. That did NOT honor my coupon. I had the receipt previously where it was honored and there was a $16+ difference. I did not appreciate being lied to There were no apologies or any compensation for my many inconveniences. Cars aren't cheap to maintain, so they've helped me save money and tell me what immediate attention it always needs. We were in Mesa, from Los Angeles, to pick up a travel trailer from a few blocks down Main. 8:45am, a block from the RV dealer, we fried our AC compressor. We went straight to this location. I took my 2016 Hyundai to SunDevil today for oil change and transmission flush. My Tucson has the 1.6 turbo. They called around and found out that the aftermarket transmission fluid was not guaranteed and was not specific for my cars transmission. They decided to go to AJ and Horne Hyundai to get the factory fluid. I am so impressed they didn't take the short cut, went to a dealer to get the right stuff for my car. I started coming here instead of the Kia dealership just because it was closer and wanted to support a local business. I have been here around 3 times and always had an excellent experience and the manager was nice and helpful. Up until recently I would have given 5 stars. I had an appointment for 8:00 am and showed up 30 min late due to some unforeseen events that morning. I ask how long the car would be and they told me maybe 3 hrs. So I understood due to me being late. I leave and go across to the Mesa Cafe for some breakfast and kill some time, then went for a walk. It was around 11:30 so I call and check in and was told they have not taken my car back and it would be ready around 2 pm.... 2 pm?? Wow, okay so at that point I'm hot and irritated it's about 108* outside so I called a lyft and went home. Around 11:45 I get a call that my car was ready, seriously?? I could have waited 30 more min and not gone back home. I waited until 2pm and walked in the blazing heat for 20 min to pick up my car and they didn't apologize for the long wait or even talk to me for that matter, what a waste of my money and time. I'll never go back because it seems like customer service has gone out the window here, idk if the management has changed but I'm going back to Kia. At least I get a car wash after my oil change there. I'm big on customer service and if they treat the paying customer like crap then I'll go elsewhere. read more
