i had a great experience with pep boys. i got a flat tire 30 minutes away from my apartment and checked pep boys websites to make an appointment (covid guidelines). there wasn't anything for the day of so i called just to be sure as this pep boys is closest to my apartment. i was able to get in the day of after there was a donut put on my rim and i could drive over as they said it was first come first serve and they'd work me in. after my car was assessed, and i was considered a walk in, i only had to wait an hour at max for 2 new tires, tire rotation, alignment check, and other services that undergo during that process. i am super uneducated on the auto repair so i was on the phone with my dad and also communicating with staff members and they patiently reiterated and answered my questions. overall, great customer service, auto care; and all done in a timely manner. read more

I got a LIFE TIME Alignment from these people in 2019. I have made 20 appointments with them by phone and in person since then and it's always something.. always a different excuse since 2019 man.. it's crazy.. talk to there manager, he didn't care. last month I tried for the last time and still nothing. My car literally doesn't have an alignment right now and I Want Thur 3 sets of tires since then.. these people took my money and said a big F**k You to me.. that's how I feel. I had a sudden problem with my car and had to get the brakes done without warning. The shop had to get the rotors sent from their warehouse and told me it wouldn't take long. The rotors that arrived were not right. The next shipment didn't have my rotors. Eventually, one of the men working at the shop went to the warehouse to get rotors for my car. What should have been an hour and a half job turned into nearly four hours of waiting. The staff kept me informed as to what was happening, and apologized repeatedly. When all was done, they gave me a significant discount on the cost of the work. The experience was annoying, but it was not the fault of the people in the shop and they did all they possibly could to make it as right for me as could be done. read more

Bought new tires from store and a couple days later got a nail in the tire. Total freak accident; went to get it checked out they didn't have the tire set an appointment a couple days later expecting to get it taken out. Their looking at me confused trying to figure out why I'm there. After taking your money their customer service goes down the drain. Ended up having to go to another pep boys to get the work done. At the other pep boys they explained to me that I have to pay full price for a new tire b/c the original store failed to give me a warranty on brand new tires so I end up paying $130+ where it would've been free if I hade the warranty which is $6/tire I AM DISGUSTED. Waste of my time and money. And apparently this store has a bad reputation within the company itself. Lesson learned never again!! read more

Brought my car to the location and the technician "looked at" my brakes, then told me i need back rotors and brakes all the way around (front and back). Then the next day I bring the car to another mechanic that shows me I only need back brakes, that my rotors are fine and that my front brakes have full pads left on them. I'd NEVER use JUST BRAKES, they'd of charged me over $800 when i only needed back brakes!! read more

After looking over it they explained to me what I needed, I was given a complete tour around my vehicle. The customer service was great and the staff was awesome. Went in on Monday to have my brakes checked. Guy at counter walked outside and "visually" inspected my brakes and said Caliper is overheating and I need front pads, rotors and calipers and min it would be $700!! Knowing you can't diagnose that visually, I went to A-1 in Lawrenceville and they replaced my front brakes and turned rotors! Calipers and rotors were fine. $169.99! read more

I took my car there on Friday, I was going to get my brakes done, they had a "$99" special but within a few minutes I was told that the $99 didn't include turning the rotors, I pointed to the line on their coupon that stated "includes machining rotors". After that the mechanic said the rotors couldn't be machined as they were already 0.2 of an inch below minimum. I then showed him the paperwork from the last brake work done by Toyota showing more than 30 thou remaining. The mechanic then said that Toyota was wrong and had already ground off too much and that in addition to that Toyota never bled my brakes meaning that my calipers were not functioning and needed to be replaced. At this point I was quoted $945.00 to fix the dangerous conditions with my brakes. I told him that as Toyota normally services the car that I'd take their word for it and to leave the brakes alone. They were then left with the "19.99" oil change, I was told that my Toyota Rav 4 would require a Synthetic oil that would bring the oil change to $54.95. When I asked the mechanic to use the basic oil, I was told that it would ruin my engine within 500 miles. Now I'm not a mechanic but I know about lubrication and a bit about brake service and while I may have caught them on a slow day they really just want to upsell and replace parts that are okay. BTW, I took my car to a local trusted mechanic today as 2 weeks earlier he quoted me $185 for the brake service, I thought I'd save a few bucks at Just Brakes, but took it back to the local mechanic today and he serviced the brakes, he stated that there was plenty left on the rotor for future brake servicing and when I told him about the brakes not being bled and that meant the calipers are bad, he laughed and hypothisized that could be why Just Brakes has closed so many locations. My advice is if they will change your pads for $99 and no upsell then they may be okay to use but if they tell you the rotors or calipers are bad or if they tell you the reason your front wheels are dirtier becase of a serious brake problem or that your rotors have hot spots or any other excuse they didn't try on me, then maybe get an honest opinion and remember, you get what you pay for. read more

The mechanics are slower than molasses in winter, they take frequent smoke breaks(even while still working on your car), they have their girlfriend come visit them. Plus, half an hour before the estimated finish time, the man in charge comes to say that we are just waiting on the guy to get the parts all the way in lilburn. Went in for a basic brake pad service. The sales rep (not a mechanic) further advises me that I would need to drop $687 to get my brakes to "drivable" conditions". This is after an advertised $179.00 for pads and rotor service. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!! They will not properly fix your vehicle and will do half ass work! I dropped my vehicle off here and left it to be inspected and whatever needed to be fixed I wanted fixed, within an hour they called me and said my car was ready. A few months later I was in a car wreck and my brakes failed and they are saying that it was my back brakes and they only fixed the front. I needed someone to install the rear brake pads I purchased online and Just Brakes was the only place I could find open on a Sunday morning. I almost didn't go because of the horrible reviews I read on here but I was in a pinch. Danny got me in immediately and performed the service himself in about an hour. It would have been quicker if my car didn't need a new set of hardware (Danny waited for me to walk down the street to the auto parts store to retrieve the item I needed). Much cheaper than what I was quoted at the dealership. The other associate did try to upsell me on front pads but I declined and that was that. As long as you have an idea of what you need/want, this place is just fine to get the job done quickly and economically. read more

Nathan was extremely friendly and easy to work with. When I picked the care up, he reviewed everything with me and even went out to the car to show me a bad strut that I'll get repaired soon. I went to this Pep Boys location the other day and the auto repair manager (I think his name was Chris) is a total scam artist!!! He tried to charge me $499 to get all new tires when I easily went somewhere else and got 2 of them plugged for $20!!! I do agree that I will eventually have to get a couple of new tires, but he told me that 3 of them were unfixable because 2 had nails in them, and 1 "had no tread". This was a lie! Don't go to him. WARNING THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! I went in there for a brake change and they told me it would be $120.00 so I said okay do it. It took an hour to do the work which wasn't bad but then I stood at the cash register for an hour (I was the only one in line) while they tried to figure out the computer and yes there was two trying. After the hour of waiting they said $420.00!!! Also that they gave me a discount for the wait. I told them that they said it was gonna be 120 and the gentlemen said no you spoke with me and I said 420. The guy I spoke with was white with a northern accent and the guy behind the counter had an African accent and was not white...I would have not have mistaken them. Tried to up sell me on a bunch of services I didn't need. Very slow with the oil change. Came out to tell me that my brakes were on backwards lol I told him I got these done at a dealership (plus I've put on enough brakes to understand if the clips were on backwards). Little car knowledge makes customer's reluctant. Not very confident in both their knowledge or service. The people in the pictures are not representative of those that work at this location. I took my car for an oil change and they stripped the oil pan!!!they said it was stripped when they took it off, Really?? all by itself? If they're true mechanics,they'd know that as they take it off and see that the plug is bad the're NOT supposed to take it off as it may not tighten after so now I can't drive my car!The manager (Steve)is a joke, he tried to have me sign a receipt stating that I agree that they were NOT resposible for the damage!I guess they mess up so much that he has to actually put it in writting. He is RUDE!! The mechanic, Mike,had to step in to try and help but Steve didn't want to listen to what he had to say either & just walked out of the shop & left us standing there as he refused to help. My husband and I had to push the truck to the parking lot because Steve said they were too busy at the moment to do it and we did not feel like spending our entire Saturday afternoon waiting for the manager to feel like doing his job. As we were leaving there was another very upset customer having issues with Steve trying to get a problem fixed.I have contacted their market director who was a lot more friendly than Steve at the shop and he actually helped fix our truck...it's a shame that Just Brakes looses customers because incompetent employees like Steve. read more
