I walked in and talked to John. He gave me a reasonable quote for replacement, but it was almost closing time. He set me up for an appointment for the next day at my convenience. I arrived the following day and the whole process took less than a hour. The cost was half of what the dealership quoted. You can reach out to them as they "claim" they are updating the case and someone is supposed to reach out to me MULTIPLE time and yet...NOTHING! 20-JUL-21 update: It's been a week 5 emails 2 empty promise responses of a call and nothing. I have sent emails to both their customer service and the pepsocial email that I was asked to. I highly doubt that the person that responded to my original post will even care to respond to this one but if you do HOW DO I CONTACT a regional manager or someone that cares? OR if I can't contact a regional manager WHAT address do I sent the court papers to, I assume the manager at the local office but also assume that someone higher up would need to be notified because if the local manager doesn't care to respond do you, PepBoys, actually believe they will take time to appear in court as a defended? read more

My oil pressure light went on today, July 4th, after having an oil change at another business just yesterday. As it's the 4th of July, the other business was closed. Despite being VERY busy, Thomas came out, checked my oil level, put in a quart of synthetic oil and sent me in my way. Did not charge me anything, not even for the oil. This is in reference to the Noblesville location on Rt. 32. I had an awful oil change experience there; I was there for more than 2 hours. They stripped out my oil drain plug, didn't know how to reset the oil change light, and sent my car home with a steady leak at the drain plug. I took it elsewhere the next day and they provided me photographic evidence that the plug was leaking consistently. I went back to the Pep Boys store and spoke with Melissa, the manager. She confirmed the problem and said they would refund the price of my purchase. Melissa said they would send me a check, but they didn't even have my address. I've been back the store 4 times to see why I haven't received the refund. Each time Melissa told me that Nathan, the Regional Manager would call me. He's never called. I called Pep Boys customer service; they opened a case file and again said Nathan would call. After hearing nothing once again, I called customer service again. This time they said I had to submit the receipt from the shop which redid my oil change. This is something they never asked for -apparently nobody was going to tell me that they needed this. They AGAIN said Nathan (if he even exists) would call me. This has gone on for nearly two months. Their service was incompetent, and the national customer service center apparently exists primarily to stall until the customer gives up. This was the worst customer service I have ever received. I stopped in our local Pep Boys to purchase some windshield wipers for my truck. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed signage throughout the store reminding me that every sale is at least 40% off and final--no returns. So, it turns out that Pep Boys is closing. I had no idea. Anyway, I found their wiper display and started sorting through what model numberss were still available for sale that matched up with my truck when one of the associates came over and asked if I needed help. I didn't think I did, but he went ahead and coached me through my pruchasing decision and gave me some pointers. I absolutely made a better windshield wiper purchase with his guidance, and even ended up purchasing a pair for my husband's car since everything was 40%. read more

Wow. We purchased new tires and brought them here to be installed. We left with a VERY shaky steering wheel. They said we would have to bring it back in the next day so they could look at it. Our appointment the next day was for 8am. I was there at 7:45 ready for them when they opened but they never showed up! By 8:30 am I left, frustrated that I spent money on a babysitter for them to NOT fix the issue for us. So now I have an unsafe vehicle, will have to pay a babysitter twice for no reason AND pay another company to fix the issue. Total waste of time and money with Pep Boys. Let me start by saying this is a review of their automotive service. My car was acting up the other day, so I had my wife take it in to have it looked at. Come to find out that it's my master cylinder (brakes) that needs to be replaced. My wife gets the quote- $400! After conferring with some co-workers, this price seems kinda high. I call to get the break down, and they tell me the part is going to be $160. Funny, they sell the part for $70. When I asked about the disparity, the guy told me "we have to order it from another place, because we don't have any in stock." Wasn't too friendly about saying so either. It's these kind of people that make my wife uncomfortable about coming into an auto place. We ended up finding the part at Auto Zone, so we brought it in and had them do the work. I asked them to put the old core back in the box, so we could get a core refund. Yeah, they definitely forgot to do that. Thankfully they didn't lose it, or they would've seen a large Asian man flying across the counter. If my car had been in better shape, I would've taken it some where after the initial diagnosis/rude customer service. I needs to find me a local mom and pops joint. So Pep Boys isn't necessarily my go to place for car repairs, but they are always there when my windshield wipers break or my car battery ends up dying unexpectedly and getting to the dealership isn't an option. The parts department is helpful and to the point in getting me what I needed and didn't try to up-sell me on products or parts I didn't need. The prices seemed fair and if you happen to be lucky, you might catch a rebate offer. I love the fact that they are also willing to help you change/teach you how to change your wipers without making you feel like a moron for not knowing how to. read more

I wish I would have checked the reviews before I brought my car in. That's my mistake, but hopefully this will reach the next potentiometer customer from making a huge mistake. I brought my car in on a Saturday for a suspension check. I had an appointment. They had my information and knew exactly what I was looking for. Saturday came around and after I dropped my car off, two hours later I get a call the front springs and struts were bad. I went back, verified they were (this is key. Make sure to check what they say). They quoted me $814 and they would have it done that day. I got them to take an additional $60 off and I told them to go ahead. An hour later I get a call. Once the disassembled my car they noticed the wrong parts were sent in. That makes sense, let's take everything apart before we verify we have the parts. So now I can't even drive my car until the new ones come in. Saturday afternoon they tell me the parts will be in Tuesday morning and I can pick it up Tuesday evening. I call Tuesday at 5pm. Car isn't done and I was told "oh yeah I forgot to call you we did not get the parts in today"-Rich explained this to me. Then said Wednesday.. We are shooting for Wednesday. Shooting for?? No get your shit together! Finally Wednesday- my car is done. I just want to get out of there!! 10% discount for my troubles and I'm on my way. THEN!!! I drive home and high speeds my steering wheel shakes and car veers to the left. I call back. Explain this did not happen when I brought it in and I wanted it recheck. It takes another two hours before they start on my car and tell me I need new tires? 1) why did you not tell me this first? 2) my tires are not bad. I explain how I don't understand how new tires will fix my car from veering and rich says "no it won't fix that" WHAT DO YOU THINK IM HERE FOR??! Rich tells me they forgot to do the alignment the first time. Now I'm here waiting for them to fix their mistake and I will never come back to any pep boys EVER! Shady business. I set an appt for an oil change. Website stated $35. Get there and I'm told $48 "because you need 7 quarts of oil instead of 5". There is no Rav-4 that holds 7 quarts of oil. Even so, 2 quarts of oil is $13? It's the eleventh hour so I have to suck it up and agree. I ask, "what's the cheapest windshield wiper blade you have? I bought one at Walmart for 5 bucks. If your price is comparable, I'll just get it done here and return the other blade to Walmart." Dan (the employee) tells me, "we have one for $5.90". Which is comparable so I add it to my service. Upon pickup, I review my receipt and they've installed an $8.95 blade and charged me for it. Also, while the work order is being created, I see Dan scan some type of card. It looks like the sort of card businesses use for loyalty programs, but I was not asked nor did I give permission for such a thing so I know that can't be it. Not 10 mins later, I get an email with the subject, "Angela, Thanks for signing up for Rewards!" So I was illegally enrolled in a loyalty program without my knowledge. It's disgusting how blatant they are with rip-offs. Stay away. I had no intention of going here because I read the prior reviews. However, I was leaving on a road trip the next morning and they were the ONLY ones with availability on such short notice. Probably because they have fewer customers due to their shady business practices. I'll be sure to share this review with corporate as well as social media. Chevez and the guy with dreads rung me out and were polite. Hopefully they aren't scammers too when working the front end of things. Update April 2019: I emailed the address given in the response to my 1st review. Someone called me and said they would forward my information to management. I waited and waited, never heard back. Recently got the headlight restoration done here on my car. It takes a long time if you opt to stay and wait on your vehicle, but it was done to my satisfaction and the pricing was what I expected after looking online. I did book an appointment online, but it didn't really seem to make a difference other than my information already being in their system. There is an option to have your receipt sent to email which I appreciated. I'm not a regular customer here, but this was good service. Man what a rollercoaster ride we have with this place. Multiple times we have used them for oil changes (because of the coupons) but it is never an easy interaction. This most recent time was very interesting... I knocked our passenger side mirror off (hello mailbox) and my husband got online to replace it. He found out Pep Boys had a replacement and would install. So, logically, her ordered the replacement and called to make an appointment. Now I go to Pep Boys for my scheduled appointment and go to the maintenance area first, my appointment does not exist, AND, they wouldn't replace that part even if it did, say what? Okay. I go to the main register area to see if they have the $80 part we ordered and after 2 different guys trying to figure it out, miraculously my part was under the desk the whole time. I call my husband to see what the deal is with this appointment and found out that the sales manager was the person who made the appointment. He happened the call the store while tow of the "pep boys" were searching for my mirror and confirmed that my husband did indeed call this repair in. So noooooow, they were able to squeeze me in and actually completed the repair rather quickly. Hard to give them a rave review but in the end, I was happy with the result. I scheduled an appointment for a specific time. After waiting one hour past the "appointment time" I decided to leave. I might have waited it out, but it was an accumulation of things that motivated me to leave. I was once a GM for Goodyear Tire & Service. ( I am no longer affiliated in any way with Goodyear. That was 25 years ago). I tell you that to tell you this: Our staff including service personnel were expected to look and act professional. I may be a little critical, but here's the deal: the service personnel at this Pep Boys were not well kept, smoking in sight of the customers, no uniforms, loitering in group behind the building as I waited an hour past my appointment time, talking loudly about fighting and drinking, etc... The moment I walked in the place a got a bad vibe, but was willing to give it a shot. I will never darken a Pep Boys doorway again. It reminded me of one of those places in the desert, when your radiator blows and that guy with the greasy smile and dirty uniform says "looks like you got trouble boy". There are too many quality professional service companies to visit. Saving $5 on an oil change isn't worth the sacrifice of trust and professionalism. read more

He said yes and that it would only take a few minutes. They pulled my vehicle in and opened the hood at 5:oo sharp. One hour later and the original battery was still in. They were NOt on time. Lie #1 Then Mike told me that they were working on it, but it was right in front of the window and I was watching. Mike would wonder back, poke it with a screwdriver then go outside and smoke. They do their service, but I am giving them the lowest review due to their "policy." I seem to get bad luck. Recently, I had a flat tire in the area. I took my car here because it was nearby and the it was icy out, otherwise I would have changed my tire and waited to go to a better establishment. They took my car in and told me a 3 hour wait. I waited patiently for three hours until they finally took my car in. After getting my car in, I was allowed to see why there was a puncture. The puncture was in the sidewall and it was legitimate that the tire needed to be replaced (RR). They also noticed a bulge in another tire (FR). They showed me a list of available tires, and I chose the ones closest to the model that I had. They didn't have my type, but that wasn't the problem. They didn't have the tires in the store, so I had to wait until the next day. I waited until they called me some time in the afternoon. I made my way up there and asked them "where did you place my tires on the car?" I was told both new tires were on the rear. It is their "policy" that all new tires must be placed on the rear. I told them that it was snowing out, that my car was FWD, and that I needed the new tread to be on the front. I have been through this before, and my car does not handle very well when there is more tread on the rears. It's simply physics. I ended up raising my voice and getting heated. They refused to change my tires. Just before they were going to bring the manager out, I gave up and paid for the service. I have too much work to get done and they were already wasting my time. The reason for the 1 star is because I drove off the road shortly after leaving the establishment. My car would not turn at a light and drove in a straight line. I wasn't speeding. I wasn't being reckless. It simply did not want to make the left turn. After backing myself back onto the road, the rest of the trip home was a nightmare, and now my car is undriveable. I will be changing my tires back on my own to the WAY THAT I NEED THEM TO BE so that I may safely drive my vehicle. Do not go to this establishment. My tire was flat, it was snowing and more bad weather coming in. I called them right before they closed. I got right in, they changed my tire with the spare, put the damaged tire back where the spare was, and were incredibly professional and kind the whole time. I was in my Army uniform as I had JUST pulled in to my garage from work when my low air light came on. As if this incredibly fast, professional work wasn't enough, they wouldn't allow me to pay. You get what u pay for. Got a oil change (high mileage) at this location. The Online appointment system is a Joke and the store won't (can't) honor online appointments and i only blame the online appointment system and not the store for this. As the online appointment didn't work, they took me as a walk-in with 1 hour wait time. As they include a courtesy inspection of the vehicle in Oil change package, i requested them to check fluid levels as i had problems with fluid leaks earlier and also a high level inspection of the brakes (which they accepted) I got my car back after little over an hour. Although i appreciate the quick service, they did not perform the courtesy fluid level check or the brake inspection i requested. They don't have a paper/electronic checklist to mark what items they have inspected (in the courtesy vehicle inspection). When i specifically asked the front desk about my brakes, they went back into the service bay, had a word with my mechanic and came back saying my brakes are good and they just need cleaning and adjustment (not sure if they actually inspected my brakes or not). I do my oil changes every 5K miles and i see courtesy vehicle inspection as a way to identify minor issues. Now, i have to take my car again to a mechanic to have fluid levels checked and brakes inspected. I payed $6 less than what i normally pay for an Oil change but had to forget the additional services i get normally with an Oil change. read more

I have taken my car to PEP Boys on 96th Street in Fishers for a few years. Generally, the experience has been good to even excellent, until now. I had a 9 am appointment. I arrived at 8:45 and noticed a line of people dropping off their cars without appointments. I was greeted by a staff member who checked me in. Since I was staying while my car was being serviced, I told the staff member that I was going across the parking lot to a local restaurant (Panera) for breakfast and coffee. That was a mistake. At 11:30 am I received a notification that my car had just then been assigned to a mechanic. I should have asked more questions at that point, but I didn't because I just thought they were confused and that my car would be ready soon. At 1 pm I received a message! Thinking that it was to notify me that my car was ready, I was shocked to read that my appointment had been cancelled! I suppose that because I was not there, in their face, they thought they could ignore my repair or put it off. I spoke with a PEP employee who assured me that my car was being worked on and that the message I received was "an error". I then stayed on site and waited. My car was ready at 2:30pm. My point? They do not honor appointments. It should not have mattered that I was not on site the whole time sitting in their "waiting area". It should not have taken 5 hours to put new tires on my car, add a wiper blade to the back window, and charge my AC. I am skeptical now about taking my car there for future appointments, but guess if I just resign myself to sitting right there in their "waiting area", and letting them know I am waiting, they might actually work on my car closer to my appointment time. read more

I went there when my car hit the curb and my tire rim busted. They said that the suspension was damaged along with other problems, and that it would take a couple thousand to get it all fixed. The person on the phone was condescending, so I took my business elsewhere. When I went in to pay for the inspection, (yes, they charged just to look at my car) they didn't print off a list of what they'd said was wrong. Took it to the other place, nothing was wrong except for the tire itself. Pep Boys tried to charge me 13.75 times what it's actually going to cost me to get it fixed. I recently bought a set of 4 new tires at the Pep Boys located at 8588 E 96th St, Fishers, IN 46037. I also purchased an alignment service. When my car was finished, I noticed that there was obviously a balance issue with one of the tires on my drive home. I called in and Rich said come back whenever and they will immediately take care of it. This makes sense, because it was something should have done properly the first time. Well, I returned and Dustin RUDELY told me there is no way they could take care of it and that I had to schedule an appointment. I scheduled an appointment for a few days later and it took them 2 HOURS to get to my car. This is unacceptable. I am very frustrated for 3 reasons: 1) the tires should have been properly balanced before I left the shop. Because this was not done correctly the first time, I had to spend more of MY time to rectify the issue that Pep Boys created. 2) Since Pep Boys made a mistake, I would expect them to drop what they are doing and balance my tires right away. Instead, I was brushed off and told I had to make an appointment. This is very poor customer service. 3) Why am I even making an appointment at a scheduled time if it took over 2 hours to get to my car? For these reasons, I will be avoiding Pep Boys for any future auto maintenance and automotive supplies. UPDATE 11/25/15: I was contacted by the manager, Joe, about my experience via phone after Pep Boys' social media team filed my complaint. Joe wanted to make sure that my car, indeed, runs fine now and apologized for my experience. He sent me a $50 gift card, which I happily accepted and appreciate (hence a bump up to 2 stars). I was fairly surprised that he wasn't really interested in what, exactly was said to me and he did not ask questions about my experience. To me, this comes off as Pep Boys not wanting to understand the situation but rather wanting to 'pay me off'. Don't get me wrong, I am happy about the gift card I received, but I didn't get the sense that they really cared about my negative experience nor do I have confidence that they will really do anything about the issues that I, and many others, have pointed out at this particular location. Had to take the car back the next day because they didn't turn off the warning light sensor for tire maintenance. Here's my experience with the Pep Boys on 96th: - Last week, I made an appointment for 11:00 AM, and showed up a couple of minutes early - The service desk people kept me cooling my heels for a good ten minutes, then told me it would be 45 minutes. When I said I had an appointment, the writer told me that they were backed up because service was taking longer than expected. - On the plus side, it only took about 40 minutes - They honored the on-line coupon Today, I noticed that there are new oil spots on the garage floor and fresh oil on the ground under the engine where the car was parked in the driveway. I crawled underneath and found fresh oil on the drain plug and bottom of the crankcase. - My wife, who is more "diplomatic" than I, took the vehicle back to Pep Boys. - The service tech first said, "Your car was leaking oil when it came in." When told that the car had never leaked oil before the oil change in their shop, he basically called her a liar. They refused to do anything to make the situation right, so she left. Trust me when I say that I will NOT return to this store and, quite probably, will no longer consider Pep Boys when I need service for any of my vehicles.
