One of my go to spots to get an oil change or get new tires they are pretty quick. Have good Wi-Fi and are good at communicating. I give the manager and staff at the shop 5 stars for the work and service they provided me. But not the online site, Zero stars, where I initially made my 4 tire purchase. Only 3 of them were delivered to the store for the appointment date I had scheduled and no communication regarding the missing tire and the tracking info never worked. I provided my credit card info online assuming I would be charged at check out and was not. The manager in the store was quick to resolve the missing tire issue and provided me 4 he had in stock at no additional cost. If you need service book via the store not online!! The District Heights/Forestville store, this is about your service, take heed and adjust if you want better ratings. If I could give this facility a lower rating, I would. The only saving grace is the kindness and helpfulness of the intake employee (I'm assuming that it was Crystal. If that's you...thank you). Crystal explained that it would take 90 minutes from start to finish; I was okay with that. My actual mechanic (Terence) is a lazy sloth. He moved slower than cold molasses in freezing weather. He spent more time on his phone than actually servicing my car. There was one customer getting her car serviced by another mechanic who was gone after about an half hour. I had a 9:00am appointment and my sloth didn't start moving about until almost 10:00. 3 other customers had come and gone and, yes, I was still there. At the 2 hour mark, I asked why should it take 2 hours to change, spin balance and mount 4 tires. The responding mechanic stated, "that's how long it takes". My response was, that's how long it takes you. I went to a local tire shop for my other car for the same thing as here and I was gone in 45 minutes and that including using floor jacks not a lift. So after 2 hours, 15 minutes, my sloth drove my car to the front of the store where (I guess a manager) checked over his paperwork and such. Payment was the quickly and promptly taken and I was out of there. Thank you Crystal, stay professional, but because of Terence, I will NEVER visit your store again and I CANNOT endorse something/someone/a business with employees that has no respect for the customer's time and takes his sweet time as Terence did. I had two lights on my dashboard and was concerned I'd need significant work. They checked and told me the last shop that had changed my oil had just forgotten to turn off the maintenance light. The mechanic then showed me how to turn that light off in future if it was a problem. They filled the air in my tires that was the cause of the 2nd light on and identified a need for me to fix my sensors, something I can do at a later date. They didn't charge me and sent me on my way. I'll be back to have my faulty sensors fixed and for my car work in future! Awesome experience here today. As a lady, it's easy to feel I'll be tricked into extra repairs. Not here! read more

Do not go to Pep Boys! Their customer service is the worst that I have ever seen anywhere! I scheduled an appointment online for AC Component evaluation at the 6333 MARLBORO Pike location for Pep Boys only to be told when I arrived at the appointment time that they don't do AC services at that time and that I did not have an appointment. When I insisted that I had an appointment specifically for that service and showed my appointment confirmation email, the rude front desk man said that he was not responsible for the appointment times and that it was my problem - not his. Then when I asked him what time I could come back to get the service done, he informed me that I could get the AC evaluation in the morning when the AC guys shows up. He then started to reschedule my appointment, at which point he stupidly admitted that he was seeing my original appointment right there on the screen. He stated something to effect that the AC guy does his own thing and then claimed that the AC service that I had originally booked online for $34 was now going to be $138. He claimed that Pep Boys' price online did not concern the Marlboro Pike location. Then when I asked him to check that it was the AC Component evaluation that he was scheduling and not some other service, he then claimed that Pep Boys does not offer that service. I have included a screen shot of the service details for reference, along with the price cited online. To add insult to injury, an email popped up in my phone from Pep Boys before I even left the location claiming that I had missed my afternoon appointment and forfeited it. Needless to say, I left at that point thoroughly frustrated and disappointed. This place has deplorable customer service and is apparently run by crooks. It was Thanksgiving Eve and my battery had died. After I got a jump, I headed straight to Pep Boys. The service people were so incredibly kind, and offered to change the battery right there on the spot. 15 minutes in and out, and boom...brand new battery. Oh God, oh God, oh God! How do I write a review about this place? It's really a hit-or-miss kinda thing. On one Friday, I discovered that my car had two flat tires. WTF!?!? A few minutes later, my roommate discovered that his car was overheating. So, onwards to Pep Boys we went to fix his car. We ended up waiting 4+ hours just to get a part of a radiator hose replaced and a flushing. The problem was these guys working in the bay stations were either taking their sweet time or working back and forth between 2 cars. Maybe both. We weren't the only ones in the waiting the rooom wondering why the heck it is taking forever for their car to be ready. It looked like if you go outside to check out your car at the bay station, the guys will work on your car faster. Of course, what happens when you're stuck at a place for 4 hours? You get antsy with other people. You can only shop at Pep Boys for so many times before getting bored with it. And you start to notice everything dirty about the place. Seriously, they need to MOP their floors at least 10 times a day. It looked like it hadn't been mopped since the grand opening. Of course, you got nothing but joy when your car comes out ready and fixed. I went back Sunday to get my tires replaced. Actually, I wanted to get it towed but they were citing weather conditions. Well...why the heck are they tow drivers they're not gonna get your into the shop? Lordy! Explain that to me. Anyways, took the 2 flat tires off my car, borrowed my roommate's car, and brought them to Pep Boys. Was given a "3 to 4 hours" wait time. I said call me when you're ready. Then, immediately, they said "oh wait, we can work on it now". Was outta there in 30 minutes with 2 new tires. So...the guys there were quite friendly. However, 3 stars for taking forever with my roommate's car and I was stuck there along with him. But then, they earned a star for getting my tires replaced quickly. Nothing. Customer service sucks and they charge too much. I've always stood and waited to be greeted and helped.. Always 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged. My oil change is $69.99 here and $44 at Chevy Dealer. They charged me for synthetic oil but the label in my car says Conventional. I always buy my tires and rims from Pepboys and get the alignment with the tire protection. I'm NEVER buying tires from Pepboys again because first of all they put the wrong tires on my car, then I had to go back for them to fix it. Same tires just a little smaller, it sounds awful when I drive straight but no sounds when I'm driving while turning. I have new wheel bearings, replaced tie rods, new struts, alignment, and tires are balanced. The guy said everything looks good, nothing is loose and brakes and rotors are in good condition. Pepboys gonna send me to the dealer because they don't wanna take the time to figure out what's wrong and why my car rides like a moped. I always go to Pepboys to buy parts and get my oil changed, I have to find another place because I'm not taking my car back here. Sorry! read more

I took my car here for an unexpected repair. A few weeks later, I took my vehicle to another mechanic for another issue and I discovered that the parts that were supposed to be replaced and repaired by Pep Boys was not done. The pictures showed that the parts were old. Either Pep Boys got used parts from a junkyard or didn't do anything but got paid. The price for the car increased to be fixed by $300 while it was being worked on. The customer service was also bad. I never got a call when my car was ready and the initial time it was supposed to be ready was wrong. When I asked the staff why no one called me they told me they were too busy and were the only person working. The manager Markel Douglas was able to help me get the tires that I need for my car without going crazy. They were kind and patience with me when explaining to me my mistake. Do not take your car to be serviced at this location (6333 Marlboro Pike, Forestville Maryland). The online store and the actual store inventory do not match. The online store states that the actual store has 4 tires of a particular size, and allows you to make an appointment for installation. When in actuality the actual store has zero in stock. But you won't find that out until you show up for your appointment. Making an appointment is a waste of time. When you show up, you'll still have to wait an hour or more before they touch your car. No matter when you make the appointment. Complaints about the service department are not documented and are not routed to anyone with authority. The service department at this location has had a long history of poor customer service. Don't waste your time. read more

I had my car towed to this location needing two tires replaced. The customer service was good but the competency was horrible! The tire technician broke two of my tire sensors and did not inform me. Which left me with a flat tire on the highway a day later. Took my truck to the Chevy dealership to find out that they mounted the tires incorrectly which left me with two broken tire sensors and one leaking tire which made the brand new tire go flat. I would not recommend anyone to take any vehicle to this shop especially if it is a new vehicle because they don't have the knowledge to properly repair those vehicles. Also if they brake something you will end up needing to go to the dealer anyway because they don't even have the parts you need to fix what they broke! Also I had to show photos in order for them to even believe my story as well as my Chevy dealership paperwork in order for them to pay me half the money I paid the Chevy dealership. I wish I could give them zero stars. I went there to get new tires. I made an appointment the day before. I get there exactly at the time of my appointment, drop of my car, and take an Uber home, because they said it should take 2 to 3 hours. By the time my Uber dropped me off, I received a call from then telling me they could not work on my car because the technician was not on site. I took another Uber, picked up my car, and they told me to bring my car in first thing the following morning, which I did. They not only keep my car for the entire day, they did not even have the courtesy to call and tell me my car was ready. Less than a week later I had a flat tire. I went back there to replace it, and they told me I had to pay for them to replace the knots. Again they kept my car for an entire day, and called me towards the end of the day to tell me this. Their customer service was terrible. This was my first and last time with pep boys. I spent $700 here for this rubbish. I believe they sold me used tires. Last month started having issues with air conditioner in my Ford Escape. Driving around on a Saturday I couldn't take the heat anymore so I stopped at this Pep Boys after getting nowhere at a Jiffy Lube up the street. It was around 1:30pm so I wasn't surprised that it would be a 3 hour wait. My mother lives around the corner so I decided to drop the car there and visit with her but I was told I would get a call to say whether or not they could get to my car by at least 5pm. The time came and went. The store was closing around 6-6:30pm but no phone call so I called the store and was put on hold for 20 minutes. Deciding not to wait I went to the shop and was told they just finished looking at it. They said they put dye in it and checked for leaks but that there weren't any and that a tube was loose so they reattached that and I was only being charged for looking at. I was instructed to come back if I any more problems. Thinking this was great, I was a happy camper but a week later, same issue no air. I took it back and dropped it off on a Wednesday morning (around 8am), explaining that I was there a week ago and that it had been checked for leaks. I was told I'd get a call again but again I had to call back around 4:40pm to get a status and was told they had vacuumed and recharged the compressor and added dye again to check for leaks and was quoted a much larger price than expected. I was bit peeved that they had proceeded to work on my car without getting my approval but was more concerned about getting my A/C running again. The air stopped blowing cold the very next day. I called to shop to advise them that it went out again and was told to just bring it in again. Not willing to try my luck a third time, I took my car to a different shop today and have been told I have a leak in my A/C compressor and will need a new. Now I am out more money and could have saved $100s of dollars, my time and myself from heat exhaustion if I had been told that from the beginning. Never again will I deal with Pep Boys! read more

Had two flats, they got me in and out within 45 minutes, beat a competitor's offer (because the employee on the phone thought I was a secret shopper), and made sure my two remaining tires were mounted on the rear axles for safety. Didn't get a response when I asked if other two tires needed to be changed when the mechanic asked which two tires I came in to have changed. Had to wait ten minutes because the printer was down though they did invite me to come back the next day for my receipt if I couldn't wait. Tv in the waiting room and ac were great. Unbelievable incompetence. I brought my car in for regular maintenance. They did not check the kind of maintenance my car needed, and simply did an oil change. I literally had to go in the back and walk the technician through my car manual to show him what kind of service it needed - when all he needed to do was hook the chip from my car into their computer. The technician glanced at the manual, and tried to explain (around the issue) why he was only doing the oil change - then proceeded to tell me he had worked for the car company from which I purchased my car. I had to ask repetitively for him to complete the full maintenance on my car, and he finally had to come ask for my manual to read through. I have never had to supervise someone working on my car - thankfully there are mechanics, technicians, and master technicians in my family, so I knew what needed to be done. I do have to say that as frustrated as I was, the technician and service representative remained professional. I will be reporting this incident to corporate. read more

PLEASE BEWARE! Do not go to this store location. I recently went because I had a screw in my tire and wanted to get it plugged. One of the young ladies that worked there came out and looked at my car and immediately said that it would not be able to get plugged because it was too close to the tread and that I needed a new tire. I am not a mechanic but looking at the tire I was skeptical of what she just told me. I then left to get a second opinion. After speaking with two other mechanics and sending the picture to a family member out of state who's a mechanic, I was told that the information was wrong and that I could definitely get it plugged. I went to another shop and got the tire plugged right away & my tire has been good ever since. I do not think the young lady was trying to deceive me for commission (or at least I hope), I just think she might not have known what she was talking about. However, that could've cost me 200+ dollars instead of 20. Sidenote: She was very nice and helpful. The only reason I went there was because my usual shop was closed. Because they could not pull up my phone number and the bar code did not pull up the battery, they would not replace. I did not ask for money just a replacement. I am writing this to inform you about the egregious and downright dishonest behavior I experienced at your Pep Boys Auto Parts and Service location at 6333 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD 20747. On Monday, May 27th, the driver side window on my 2007 Jeep Commander stopped working and I was unable to get it to roll back up/closed. I called the store location above and told the person on the phone about the issue I was having with my car window and they told me that they could look at that day. I arrived at the store around 1:30 pm on May 27th and after waiting about 20 minutes, I was finally greeted by a woman named Ty (I believe her name Tanya but goes by Ty). After waiting for about 20 more minutes my vehicle was pulled into the service area and a tech started inspecting my vehicle. At this point I was very happy with the service, given the fact that this was a holiday Monday and the service thus far had been quick. After about another 30 minutes Thomas the Technician called me to the service desk and told me the window motor was the problem. I asked him if he was sure that this was something he can fix today and Thomas replied, "sure no problem". Ty was also at the service desk so I asked her how much everything would cost. She quoted me a price of $483 and I replied "no problem". I was then told that my vehicle would be fixed and ready for me to pick up in about 2 1/2 hours. So I left the store location and returned 2 1/2 hours later. Upon my return, I spoke with Thomas the Technician who then told me that the problem with my driver side window was not my window motor, but my main switch. I asked Thomas if this was something that could be done today and he replied "yes". After another 2 hours passed, Thomas told me it was neither my window motor nor the main switch, but that my window regulator was the issue. I asked Ty if this was something that could be fixed that day and she stated "no, because it's close to closing time and the best I can do is order the part and it should be here in the morning". She informed me that I would have to leave my vehicle there overnight because she could not get the necessary part from the Jeep Dealer until tomorrow because they were currently closed. She informed me that she could order a rear diver side regulator and that this should work. I asked Ty, how much the service/parts were going to cost me now and she quoted me a price of $647. I told her no problem, let's make this happen, as long as it gets done by the end of business tomorrow (May 28th). Needless to say I left with my window still broken five days later, out of hundreds of dollars, not to mention the time spent on the phone multiple times and coming to the shop multiple times throughout the course of that week. No one is held accountable or even present to tell me in person what is really going on with my vehicle. Kevin gave me a guarantee that he had no intention on keeping. Thomas, who seems completely useless in this situation, not only gave me a guarantee that he could not fulfill, but in the beginning it took him over four hours to diagnose problem, which ended up being a complete misdiagnosis. And I do not understand how Ty can take lunch at the same time I was supposed to pick up my vehicle at 7:00 PM and the store closes at 8:00 PM. I was there for over an hour and she never came back to the store. The only remedy I was given for this unprofessional week long debacle was a card with the number to customer complaints. read more

I have always gone to PepBoys wherever I have lived. For the past 2 years I have been going to the Marlboro Pike store. Today, I got a new battery and an oil change, I made the mistake of assuming I had enough to pay between my 2 cards, but, when things went wrong with 1 of my banks, the manager Sean Williams went above and beyond, he spoke to them for some time, then he sent them a fax and I was back in my car again. And the cashier Alvina Murdock, she was so helpful and patient. These are all seriously nice people that KNOW about cars. The time before, about 4 months ago, when I came for an oil change PepBoys was waiting for the oil disposal truck. Well I was in a "rush" and went down the street to a place on Marlboro Pike where the gas was cheap (never bought there though), the guys had middle eastern accents and in 20 minutes, they "decided" to glue my oil cap, claiming it was stuck, but loose and it was gonna cost $600 something for a new oil pan and they are worried about me, I shouldn't drive, it's dangerous blah, blah.....well, I went right back to PepBoys and the other manager Kevin Marshall SMILED, calmed me down and took care of it, he had to put a plug because they glued the cap, but it ended up as a "regular oil change" ......so, beware LADIES, this is the 2nd time some crooked place tried to make me pay for an oil pan, that I didn;t need. PepBoys has NEVER tried any shenanigans. This is my favorite store of all. read more
