Waited until 9:45 before the mechanic finally showed up. Waisted my entire Saturday with my truck just sitting in their parking lot because it was the wrong kit. They never even called me. I've been going to Pep Boys stores on and off for years, depending on the sales and whether the employees decided to be jerks or not (men often think they're better than a woman coming in with car trouble, as even with this store, I've had problems with in the past). But the day before yesterday, I met an employee that changed my views on that! I'd called looking to just get my brake pads replaced, and Rodney answered the phone. He assured me, even with my limited amount of funds that they would take care of us, and so in we went. A simple brake job was well over our spending limit, but Rodney did what he could to make sure we wouldn't have to start selling organs. We went in, and after dealing with the rather condescending "manager", Brian (the kind of guy that would make a woman want to slap him), we finally got to talk to Rodney and he was just as nice in person. As they got to working on my Mom's vehicle (she drives over 100 miles a day to get to her job, and the sounds it made when the brakes were applied were something like a drunken Chewbacca at a block party), they couldn't get the right tire off. It took them almost the entire day, and well into the next morning (plus a handful of drill bits, sweat, and probably quite a bit of "wtf" moments) to get the tire off. But once they did, they not only replaced the pads and rotors, but also the calipers, too. To top it all off, Rodney said since the vehicle needed oil, too, he'd get us an oil change. Needless to say, we didn't break the bank, and we were well taken care of thanks to Rodney and the boys in the shop that worked on what I like to call "the Jeep from Hell". They literally have the most horrible phone system and won't listen when I tell them it doesn't work. I've been calling over two days. I had to go there to speak to someone. I advised them the phone does work and they told me it's my phone. I tried to call the next day for update on my car and the same thing. They can't hear anyone and it sounds like someone is under water. It's not my phone all my call all day go well until I try to call them. So since u can't hear me maybe you will read a review. Extremely slow service to get oil changed and tires rotated. 1st one in line this morning when I pulled in. 1 customer had an appointment to install a battery before me. 3 hours later and I am still here! Excuse they gave me, we are short staffed. 3 hours to change oil and rotate tires????? Service writer should get off his butt and help in the shop if it is that bad. On a Saturday, I walked into the store and asked to get my A/C looked at. Soonest appointment they scheduled me for was Monday @4:30 for $49.99. I get a call on Sunday asking to reschedule because the A/C tech is not there on Sundays. I said, No my appointment is Monday @4:30, not today. They said oh okay good. Then I get a call on Monday morning about an appointment at noon. I called back around 2pm for them to tell me they don't know why I was scheduled at 4 because the tech isn't there that long. So the tech was full for the day and off the next day, so the next available appointment is 2 days from Monday. I was interested in getting my A/C inspected sooner then that. So I just went to AAMCO for $20 cheaper ($29.99). read more

This isn't a review for the service department, which was courteous and friendly. This is a review for the store side. About a week ago, I tried to purchase a single item from the store. The checkout consisted of two cashiers, but only one was operational. In front of me was one customer, and the two cashiers spent the next 10 minutes chatting with him, ignoring the fact that another customer might want to pay. After 10 minutes, we mentioned that we'd like to have our chance at paying, too, but were refuted with that each "customer" is a "customer" and that we'd have to wait in line. Ok... they keep chatting. Two cashiers. One line. One customer. After a few minutes, he leaves, i present my purchase-to-be, the cashier scans it, and I try to swipe my credit card. It doesn't work/register, so I try again. No go, I try again. The cashier let's me try this for a few times in front of him. Then he tells me in a condescending manner that for that to work, I'd have to tell him credit or debit. Credit. I swipe, then he wants my ID. I present my driver's license. The cashier says he can't read my name, because his vision is "bad" -- an obvious ruse. He waists 15 seconds looking at the card. He'd like me to read my name for him. He spends 10 seconds looking at my form of ID again. I tell him, you know what, no thank you. I don't need this car cleaner THIS bad. 15 minutes WAISTED. The cashier REFUSED to give his name. He's a young, black guy with an obvious chip on his shoulder. And a lost customer. NEVER again. read more

I think it took a lot of nerve for Pep Boys to send an email insinuating that "I" didn't make it to my appointment. They sent me an email stating the following: Let's Reschedule Your Appointment Dear Ruben: Sorry you couldn't make your recent service appointment with us -- do you want to set another time? Just click here to reschedule. Thanks for letting us know you couldn't make your appointment. We hope to see you soon! The fact is that I checked in at 4:50 for my 5:00 appointment. I waited and waited for a tire rotation which I paid for when I purchased the road hazard warranty. At 6:27 I proceeded to the desk to inquire about the status as I had already been waiting an hour and a half. It was then that I was told "We're not going to be able to get to your car today". I was then told "We don't have enough techs". I asked when someone was planning to tell me because obviously they were just going to let me keep waiting until the store closed. The rep just kept skating around my question regarding when someone was going to let me know that my car wasn't going to be worked even though I had an appointment. How long can it possibly take to change a tire? I called first to check and make sure they had it in stock. Once there they could not find the lock so they informed me it would be 50 dollars to take off. I didn't want to argue since it was my daughter that was there being responsible and handling things herself. Two hours later the repair is still not done. I went in cause I heard they will figure out why your check engine light is on for free. Wrong. $59 for a diagnostic; then they quoted me over $800 for the work that needed to be done (offered to finance it for me--gee, thanks). The guys were really nice (thus the one star) but the price they quoted was almost triple what I ended up paying for the work. One of the parts they said I needed--they quoted me $100. Went into my local pep boys today with my husband to buy a list full of items for my new truck I just got . We had two different associates helping us finding the items we needed . Five min later a rude gentleman comes out and accuses my husband and me of stealing making him pull up his shirt!!! Never in my life have I felt so disrespected or discriminated against I had a wallet full of cash ready to buy all of my items and had multiple different associates helping us with our needs. Tattoos or not this location needs to learn not everyone in Hemet is a damn theft and customer service should be number one . Screw this location. I came in at 6pm which is TWO hours before they close and was refused help in putting back on a tire I had patched. They told me "they didn't have time". Yet if I had agreed to purchase a tire there would have been time conveniently. Do your damn job! I was there with two kids under the age of four, my sister in law and her family with three kids trying to get back to Victorville. I have to say that I had a great experience at Pepboys. I chose to go here for a new battery because of the online deal. Through that I bought the wrong battery. It was a quarter too big and they had no problem replacing it with the correct one. Apparently my car has 5 battery sizes. Then the cashier was confused and forgot to refund the core back to me. I called the store and they were very pleasant. Once I arrived at the store I was treated with the best customer service. Although there were mess ups they were more than happy to make it right without hassle. The store manager runs her store great and talks to her employees with respect. I recommend this store to anyone looking for a food experience. If you are concerned about prices just go online and order with their online deals....you can choose to pay at the store which is great for those that only carry cash! read more

On 1/6/2021 I went tire shopping Paul called me up to the counter and I gave him the tire size that I needed he said not in stock I asked what about another store he replied with not in stock. I asked him well where can I get this tire at he said not in stock. I then said maybe I got a number wrong and he said maybe so I went out to my vehicle to check mind you I'm a female that knows nothing about tires. I walk back into the store and he just looks at me and doesn't say anything I told him I gave you the wrong size he look for the tire and said I only have 3 I don't have 4. I felt like he was not willing and wanting to help me so I left. I get in my car and I called the store manager Israel he wasn't there so I explained everything to Jennifer she passed the message to Israel and he called me. When I spoke to Israel he laughed when I told him what had happened and apologizes and says he could help me. He said he would go a pick up the tire in Moreno Valley himself on 1/7/21 and I said ok great! He told me be here tomorrow at 10am I will pick it up at 8:00am. I Arrived at 10am on 1/7/21 and I asked for israel the guy Paul said he isn't here he called off I tried telling him Israel was suppose to have picked up a tire for me and he told me to be here at 10 Paul said I don't know with an attitude. I looked frustrated and that is when Aric said can I help you ma'am I said yes I explained to him what had occurred and he said let me call the Moreno Valley store and see if Israel picked it up. Aric had an employee go call Israel and that employee called me over and said Chris will help you. I over heard that an employee from the tire center was exposed and tested positive for covid and Israel left because he was around this employee. Chris needs to keep his mask on he can be spreading Covid to his customers. Aric apologized and seen how Chris treated me and apologized and said he can help me. I told him I will not spend a dollar in this store and I told him I'd rather go to Temecula where they appreciate there customers. He went above and beyond he said he will pick the tire up himself from Moreno Valley and transport the 4 tires to the Temecula store so I can purchase it there. I told him thank you I am not sure what has happened to this store it had better customer service a few years ago. I have to drive to Temecula it is so out of my way a 40 min drive to purchase some tires when I literally live 5 min from the store in Hemet. I am letting everyone know if you think about making a purchase at pep boys PLEASE DONTT SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO ANOTHER TIRE STORE WHERE YOUR MONEY AND CUSTOMERS ARE APPRECIATED. I am from Palm Springs and come out to San Jacinto for school. I was surprised when I had noticed that I had a relatively low tire. I asked where the local pepboys was because I have always had great service from them. This was no different. When I got there, I was immediately greeted by a friendly young lady named Ana. She directed me to the service department where I was given my options for new tires. I ended up just getting the one I needed, but it was the one that put me back on the road and a smile on my face. My neighbor said that he had always experienced excellent customer service when he shops there. So I said what the hay, it's been a while since I have visited there, I'll try it. I went to Pep Boys for semi-synthetic oil change. I reserved an appointment online with selected oil change that costs $34.99 (with coupon). I went there and he said total costs about $61. I said the online said $35. He said oh online was wrong. I had no choice and let them rip me off. So after they printed the receipt, I saw they added Plat EcoBox. I dont know what it is but I had semi-synthetic oil change there with other car before but it wasnt added "Plat EcoBox". I feel like the person behind the desk took advantage of me. read more

Had my car worked on but when I read the info it was the wrong information on the car. They didn't want to do it again just to look it over and get the right information. Guy named korrey filled it out wrong while flirting with a lady and some other dude was too lazy to get it back outside when I just had it out there. I called another mechanic and they said their good mechanics left because the pay or something and alot of people that go there get their work done somewhere else after because they mess up all the time. First off, I would like to say everyone in the parts department is nice and polite, but for some reason they have issues with selling the wrong parts. About 5 months ago I bought break parts for the passenger side of my Honda Civic LX. I called the parts department confirmed they had the parts,the parts were pulled and set aside for me, I picked them up that evening. When I got home, I was sold the wrong pads and the wrong rotor, I went back to exchange them, the store was closed. My boyfriend had to pick up the parts and fix my car at 9am, causing both of us to be late to work. Today, I went in to buy the same parts for the same car, but for the drivers side, I only needed the rotor. I was sold the rotor for a Honda Civic Si, when I went to exchange the part the store was closed. I'm cranky because I had to call off from work for tomorrow (I open at 7am, pep boys opens at 7:30) my boyfriend is cranky because I was sold the wrong part again! I'm not asking for recognition like everyone knows my name and the parts for my car, but your selling parts to something that I rely on, that could kill me if it is not cared for properly. Read the box, open the box, double check the sku numbers on the computer screen that are on the box, double check with the customer to make sure you heard them correctly. read more

Not a good place for service. Especially tire alignments. I do all the work that I can for myself unless it takes special equipment like a tire alignment machine. One Sunday I spent the morning putting a lift on my wife's car and rebuilding the front suspension on my truck due to the changes I had to take them both in for an alignment afterwards. Pep Boys was the only place I could do it on a Sunday on my truck I also wanted them to change the brake fluid easy task but it takes two people and I didn't have time for that. When I picked up the cars I asked for a printout of the alignment they said the printer on the line machine was broken and they didn't know when it was going to be fixed neither one of the cars Woods Drive straight and I wasn't going to take it back to let them do the work. I also inspected the brake bleeders to see if they actually blood the fluid out and they did not and it was on the work order, but what I did discover is a instead changed my oil it was due so I didn't mind but that just shows how stupid they are. read more
