went to autozone on Lawrenceville hwy bc my check engine light was on. they did the diagnostic and it printed out weak module and guy told me nothing was wrong. I was going home and decided to turn around and go to pepboys to get a second look. He googled what the code meant instead of telling me it was nothing and sending me away. Low and behold it was the battery and I was able to go back to autozone and have them replace it bc it was still under warranty. I will never go to that autozone on Lawrenceville hwy again they just pushed me out! pepboys Juan Carlos took care of me and went the extra step to make sure my car was running right! Serivce 1/5: there's one part of the car they changed me $500 and NEVER could fix. I took the car back and complained, and they said, 'Oh, you need a new connector, blah, blah blah", and I ended up paying extra to it, but they never fixed it, even though the part I purchased for the repair comes with life time warranty. Instead of try to take a look at the car and fix it again, they tried to do "buy more and more parts" scheme. Attitude 1/5: this is beyond attitude problem. One day, I took a car there for a major repair, then this guy who's leaning against the service counter, looks like barely working quoted me $ 2100 for it. He was smirking on his face like it was super amusing to him to watch me freak out on the possibly expensive repair bill. They even charged me for a diagnoses cost of $40ish. I thought that was way too expensive, so I took the car to another place, then they immediately took a a look at my car and quoted that would be $1400 even without the diagnosis charge. So every since then, I take my car to them including oil change and other repairs. Value: they don't have a retail section anymore, but they engorge the price of tires and batteries to the sky high, then lure people in with coupon, then when you use it, it becomes back to normal price. But they no longer have merchandise department. Coupons: This is totally worthless. You used to be able to use coupons for the merchandise and repair parts, so that could make your repaid bill lower. But since they don't sell their own parts, they have to "buy" the parts from other auto parts stores, so the coupons can't be applied to the parts from the external source. Meaning, this coupons practically don't work at all. Also, this coupon for oil change is also worthless. They engorge the oil change price as $60, then if you use the coupon, it becomes $50, which is all other competitors offer without coupon. Don't get tricked here. Summery: I lost my trust to them and I already found a new place as my go-to, which is a honest, properly priced, and hardworking auto shop, (Ming's Auto), so I won't go back there. read more

On my original appointment I received what I was told a wheel alignment. The next day I noticed the same issue I had when I brought the vehicle in. I made an appointment for the following day and had a confirmation from PepBoys. I go in for the appointment and I was denied service because it wasn't other people had called in for their appointment vs me doing it online. The next day they finally are able to look at my car again.... After receiving my car I had the same issue. On top of all that when I requested a refund over the phone they advised me I had to physically come into the store rather than canceling the charge. When I attempted to do a charge back they fought the chart back despite being in the wrong. When I finally went in for a refund I didn't even get a full refund. I was still charged for a shop fee. Also when I requested for my tire to get looked at and fixed they didn't advise me they charged $25 to fix the tire. I would definitely not trust them fixing a vehicle. read more

Soooo I've been here 3 times in the last 2 months smh. I initially came for an oil change and to rotate my tires. They told me they needed to plug a hole in my tire because there was a nail in it. I said coolio. When checking out they informed me that they didn't need to plug it because it wasn't negatively affecting the tire. I said ok to that too not thinking nothing of it. Two weeks later My tire is almost flat and needs to be completely replaced. I found out that there was a nail in my tire but it was so close to the rim that it couldn't be plugged and had to be replaced. I can assume they knew this and decided not to tell me when they first found the hole and offered to plug it. So yes I bought my tire and now I had to go back AGAIN because my other back tire is now deflating. I think it has another slow leak smh. I'll be going to Firestone to see if it's Pepboys causing the problem or it is just my tires smh ( car is a 2017 Nissan with 20,000 miles ). They get 3 starts because their staff is friendly and helpful. No issues or complaints there. read more

I was so disappointed with this establishment level of professionalism, I brought my vehicle here last year to get some work serviced, and they put the wrong part on the vehicle, which I didn't find out until a drove off and the vehicle was making this horrible sound. No worries after debating with them that something had to be wrong! They put the car back on the lift, only to discover that they had installed wrong part, but they fix it with no fus (Just another half day without my vehicle) Fast forward 7 months later when I bring the vehicle back to this Pepboys after getting it diagnose from the dealer, and the service manager tells me there's nothing wrong with the issue that the dealer clearly stats there is. He tells me he can just take my money if I just want to throw money away and proceed to assume my situation that no one in these times(Covid-19) should be wasting their hard earn money. ( was I here for financial advice or to get my car serviced). To my shame I didn't remember which side they actually fixed the first time, so I was at the mercy of their records. (But I knew I was still under my warranty). I asked him to take a more thorough look since a called the dealer and the dealer explained that you can't see or diagnose this particular issue by just driving it or listen for a sound ( you have to remove the tire completely off.) when I ask the Pepboys Service Manger about taking a more thorough examination. He refused to look at my vehicle further, told me he wasn't going to waste any is his guys time and tossed my keys on the counter and told me to leave. SMH The Service Manager David attitude was so poor and it was nothing like the genuine experience I use to getting at other repeatable Pepboys. I am surprised that such a well-known and respected company could allow this type of managerial ethics to actually exist and call it customer service. I just received this email saying "Sorry you couldn't make your recent service appointment with us"  which is a total lie.  I was there for my appointment at 12:55pm.  Eric called me Saturday and said he had 4 appointments scheduled at 9am (one of which was my original appt.) and asked if I could reschedule to 1pm, Sunday.  I said okay, but I will be waiting on my vehicle as I do not other transportation.  Upon arrival Sunday Eric informed me that he was sorry but they had a big job come in and it would be awhile before they could even get to me.  Why do you make an appointment in the first place?!  Had he had the courtesy not to waste my time and call before I got there it wouldn't have been so bad.  But I had to rearrange my schedule for the second time...which is now turning into a 3rd time. I had my tires installed, balanced and alignment done...and when I got my car it was out of alignment and not balanced properly.  Had Pep Boy's done their job properly the first time I wouldn't keep wasting my time having to go back...let alone the money they spend doing things over.   It seems like once they have your money you are not a priority anymore.  The store Manager David Sayed is very good when it comes to customer service unlike Eric.  My suggestion is if Eric can't handle a simple schedule or phone calls they need to hire someone else so as not to waste people's time or retrain Eric on Customer Service. I have been going to this location for years and recently spent quite a bit of money on repairs for our 3 vehicles.  I will probably be looking for a more reliable place to continue working on our vehicles. read more

Very friendly staff, when walking in for an oil change and they were busy the service rep/manager at the time helped me set up an appointment for my oil change for the next day. I simply came in they did the work and I was out in no more than 30 minutes. They seemed meticulous, and cared for little things like making sure they put a paper mat in the car to avoid getting it dirty. Shop also has the right kind of equipment. Definitely will continue to use them for my car maintenance needs in the future. read more

Rip off alert. I had a nail in the tread of my tire they refused to fix it insisted I had to buy a new tire where I have at least 10,000 miles of tread left. They had no one in the store and I see why. Further I paid for hazard insurance having bought this tire from another Pep Boys location but they do not communicate with each other and told me I had to have the receipt. When I arrived they had 3 cars being worked on, 2 hrs in and they still couldn't get to my car, I was told it would take 30min for a diagnostic test and it took more than 2hrs even with a an appointment. Took my 2003 Sonoma in for a line up picked it up drove like crap,called David he took me in for recheck,redone it still pulled hard to the right,line up guy said it was my tires.Ok David said pull to garage area and talk to line up guy and he give me a copy,pulled up the guy wouldnt give me a print out,wouldnt come talk to me told david it was my steering box,took it to tires plus they put it on rack lifted front tried to wiggle each tire up n down n in and out,passenger side wiggled in and out,idler arm was bad replaced it drives fine!!have reciept to prove it,needless to say the only thing touch at pepboys was the sleeves on each side for the toe in and out.. read more

My husband and I are in the process of buying a new car. We called the day before to get pricing information and to be sure we could make an appointment. We called back the next morning and made an appointment. We arrived at the appointment to find that they were having trouble with their computers and so the guy up front just wrote a note but they could not get us in at the time of our appointment. This Pep Boys, and Marlon (the service manager) and Jeff( the store manager) truly understand customer service. I took my car in to have brake pads installed and get the rotors cut after realizing I couldn't get the parts for less than $200 to replace the rotors and pads myself. they had a special $99 deal per axle. First Marlon (and I hope I am spelling his name correctly) showed gave me his opinion on the products that came with the different service price levels for brake work. which I appreciated. I didn't feel like I was being up sold I was just being educated. He showed me the measurements on what was left of my rotors and what the Toyota 'discard' measurement to ensure safety. Thus, I had to replace my back rotors. but showing me the evidence was very helpful and helped me make my decisions. I don't know that I have been to any garage or service center that took this level of detail in explaining the work needed and helping understand why it was needed. I will definitely be here for future service work and will even come her for my next set of tires because I usually get my oil changed when my tires are rotated so having that done here as opposed to the store I use now will be a big plus. might even pay for rotation here to have the oil changed has I believe I'm in good hands here! second, I decided against having them to the work since I could buy the parts for a little over $200 and it was significantly less than having the service department do the work. so Marlon helped me get connected with Jeff and get the pricing on rotors and pads. Jeff took the time to help me understand what my car needed in way of pads. and even though they didn't have all the parts in the store he let me know how soon they could have them if they ordered them from an area store. (grateful I wasn't just sent to another place). Jeff took time with me and his associates to make sure I got the right parts and the best deal. when I had questions about my other car he was very helpful. I ended up getting a breaker bar and jack during my trip as well (Jeff helped me understand the purpose of a breaker bar and it came in very handy with my break job!!!). Jeff was very helpful and he took the time to teach his staff as he was helping me. Jeff is the new store manager, only been there a few weeks. Needless to say this Pep Boys will be my shopping location for all my DIY auto projects and future maintenance needs that I don't do myself :) It is rare to be wowed now a days but this store and their associates wowed me on my visit on 11/19/2016! I called to make an appointment at the beginning of the week, told them everything I needed done, and offered to pay in advance if there were parts they needed to order so it could all be accomplished in one day. I showed up at noon today to have the work done, had the same conversation with their employee and waited for 2 hours, thinking it would all be done. Not only did they ignore 2/3 of what I had requested, but informed me I would have to come back after they did more research as to what I needed. Really? I was very clear from the first call. Then the employee chose to argue with me that he was completely unaware of the remaining items I needed done. We had just had the conversation 2 hours earlier, for the second time. I guess if you request the senior discount they offer, they have the impression you are senile. We won't even get into the pricing issues. I have spent my last dollar with this company. I took my 78 Chevy truck there to get a transmission and oil service. They bent my hood, my truck had no fluid leaks prior to them touching it. When they started it, the truck was smoking. They said that was normal. Not for my truck! All I left with was a bent hood, and transmission leak! Also, there was a guy that showed up. I would say customer but I dont think he was. He was "helping" work on my truck and asked several times if he could drive my truck before they gave it back to me. My local Pep boys is always a wonderful experience. I had to do a refund on a battery and the General manager was the quickest and sweetest person I'd ever met. His team Denise, Matt, and Mike made my visit a pleasant. Denise was so sweet and talked to me about starting college and really made me feel like I was going to be great. I came in last week for a headlight problem and when I left I noticed my switch was loose which was not the case when I had initially come in. Of course the following week as I'm leaving for work, it comes out completely so I couldn't even drive my car that morning to work because it was too dark and now my headlights would not turn on without the switch. When I went in to have it fixed the mechanic had no customer service skills what so ever. He said "you can argue all day with me" over and over and would not even listen to what I was trying to say. The manager did a good job helping me but I still ended up having to pay for a part that I know the mechanic broke on my first visit. I probably will try another pep boys shop next time I have any car issues. Audrey that works at the front desk was also very pleasant on my first visit. However, I was most pleased with the way my headlights looked after restoration. They look brand new again. Marc W. did a great job servicing my vehicle!! Took my car to PepboysLilburn and after waiting 2 hours I was told that it was my serpentine belt and tensioner that needed replacement. They quoted me $100 on parts (fair) and $279 on labor! They claimed it would take them 2+ hours to replace the tensioner and belt: 1 hour to remove the tensioner and replace it, and 1 SEPARATE HOUR to remove and replace the belt! I am a female and I don't know alot about cars but I know it does not take 2 hours to replace a tensioner and belt. While I was sitting there I was able to look it up on the internet and verify that I was indeed being taken advantage of. I walked out. Called 5 other auto places for comp pricing and they all quoted $200 for the job. Took my car elsewhere. Double the pricing of any other shop. What a rip off. This is the worst car I have ever owned. Very poor engineering and it is no wonder that Chrysler is in trouble. The water pump went out and caused the engine to jump time and trashed the engine. Paid $4000. to get a used engine put in. The drains in the rocker panels plug up and the interior fills with water. Poor engineering again! Alternator went out. Took to Pep Boys one Big Mistake! Cost $493.09 (labor was way out of line and gave car back with scratches on the front end)Alternator was $149.00 They also said I needed a Battery but I didn't! Pep Boys also wanted to charge me $168.00 to replace the oil pressure switch. The dealer only charges $75.00. Trans shifts had and nobody knows why!This site shows Pep Boys as a repair shop to use but I would say BEWARE!!!! Bottom line the car is very poorly made and Pep Boys will take advantage of you and trash you car!!! Use caution when considering a Chrysler or Pep Boys as a repair shop! read more
