Words do not describe the lack of professionalism, bad attitude and lack of common sense I experienced the one time I go for "service". I am a technician at a Toyota dealership an we hear stories about this sort of thing but to witness it is truely something else. First of all, the assistant service manager has tire chalk doodles all over his uniform. And had a bad attitude making this situation out to be a joke. Second, the technician threw my parts on the counter in irritation and the "manager" just stood there like it was nothing. I always heard stories about the service department here but I thought I'd try the place out for myself and since my dealership is closed on Sunday I really needed to use a shop. They performed the job incorrectly, they were NOT willing to see their mistake, and NOT professional. If they worked for my service department they would have been fired yesterday. read more

Had a screw in my rear tire so I stopped in to get it fix. They were to busy and said I'd have to leave it. I guess when you think its just a $20 job that you don't want to be bothered. But little did they know that bothersome flat tire turned into a brand new set of 4 truck tires!! Took it to Bruce's and had that tire fixed in 10mins. My old set were the original tires that had $49, 790 miles on them. It was time for a new set. They ordered them and were delivered to them in 2hrs. Went back in and half hour later I was on a new set of tires. Just moved back to Lodi and I will never set foot in Pep Boys ever again!! read more

If I could give a negative star, I would absolutely do it. Why? I'm in the customer service area and I found their service completely unsatisfactory and very reproachable. Anyhow, before heading to the store, I made sure I called them to make sure they could accommodate me (being Sunday and all). I was told they could, so I headed over. I was there at 1:41pm. The guy who I had spoken over the phone ended up helping me out; which I thought it was great since I had already gone over the problem over the phone and he remembered. Yet, I reinstated that I wanted to check my battery and alternator, he said okay and gave me a quote. I told him, I would be outside if he needed me for anything. After 20 min, he came looking for me and asked me what was the reason for my visit. I understood that they (i.e., Pep Boys' staff) see too many people and he probably had forgotten (even though he remember talking to me over the phone); I was fine and gave him the benefit of the doubt. He said to also test the electrical; it sounded reasonable, so I agreed. After an 1.5 hours I noticed they hadn't taken my car in yet (other people had come and gone and I was still there). I figured testing all those three things could take time. I continue waiting. A little past 4pm, he called out my name and told me that the guy who does the electrical in the shop has clocked out at 3pm, right before he got to put the order in. I don't know how their system works but an hours and minutes to "place" an order seemed excessive to me; especially since I had called ahead to make sure I could be helped. Before today, I have never written a bad review and always give businesses the benefit of the doubt but I feel this incident definitely merit one. I am extremely disappointed that they made me drive over under false pretenses, took so long to input the order but more importantly to realize that the ONLY electrical guy in the shop has gone home for the day (I'm sorry but it doesn't take 2 hours to do any of this)! read more

My recent experience for a wheel alignment was not good. I called the day before to make an appointment to save time. When I got there I was told it would be up to a 2 hour wait instead of the usual 45 minutes because they already had put another vehicle on their only alignment rack. No apology offered, and there was no waiting area. I left the vehicle anyway and it wasn't done for 2 hours and 45 minutes! When I picked up the vehicle there was no apology offered again. I was given a report about the alignment which clearly had two items printed in red and out of range. When I spoke to the service cashier about this she said these items can't be aligned. I wanted a better explanation since that was the whole purpose of the alignment. I felt like she didn't listen to my concerns and when I remarked how this whole experience has been "something else" she remarked that there are a lot of other places I can go. read more

06/17/2012 Spent $800 for 4 tires in Dec.2010 for my truck and today had to replace two front tires again for $300....Tires were BAD.....Customer Service was HORRIBLE...Manager said it was my fault....He was rude and I will never set foot in one of these stores again......Worst manager I ever have talked with..... Suck!!!! My daughter dropped off her car at 9:45 am to get an oil change. We found ourselves waiting over 2 and a half hours bc they stated she now needed a new battery. WT! How about an employee who isn't doing anything, which were a few, walk into the store grab one and install it!! The waiting area was filthy, walls, floors etc. There were 3 men standing around the service counter chatting! Heck one of them could've gotten the battery!! To make matters worse after our extended wait for a service which should not have taken more than an hour. We kept hearing "just fifteen more minutes!" Leaving there after 12pm was pathetic!! My daughter found herself having to return to their store to point out that she had her oil change yet the check oil light went on her vehicle after 2 weeks for the service! Yeah your store lacks leadership, delegation and organization!!! I should have had my daughter check the Yelp reviews BEFORE she decided to take it there!!! read more

AWFUL!!!! And that's putting it nicely. Visit 1) I went in to find a fuse. When I walked in, ALL front desk/parts/cashier employees were standing around talking. One of them did greet me and ask me what I was in for. I told them I needed to find a fuse and he passed me off to another employee to go find it. This employee had no idea where it was. I'm actually the one that ended up finding it with him standing right next to me. When we brought it back up front to be rung up, I was then passed back to the first guy who spoke to me, while the last employee joined the others in their gossip session. A LOUD gossip session including cuss words and complaints, things I don't think customers should have to listen to while they're in there shopping. After I paid, I left with a bad taste in my mouth, but nothing that would make me come on yelp to review. THEN... things got worse. Visit 2) My fiance' had called Pep Boys to ask about a service he needed done to his truck. He had tires he wanted mounted and balanced. However, the tires were ready for the snow with tire studs in them and those needed to be taken out since it wasn't quite snow season yet. He was told by the person on the phone that this would be no problem and to bring it on in. My fiance' and I went to this location, right after his call, in each of our cars because we both needed work done. Along with his tires needing to be done, I needed the oil changed in my car. We walked in and went over to the service department where we were greeted by a young lady. I'm not sure what her name is, but let me tell you this now... I feel SO SORRY for her. She's super sweet and really attentive, but she is working with people who couldn't care less that their ridiculous bad attitudes are making her look bad. She said she needed to go out and take a look at the tires, so we followed her through the service department, out to the parking lot. As we were walking through the service department, we saw a couple guys working on other cars, and LOTS of other employees just standing around, with one sitting down playing on his phone. While we're walking, the girl helping us is calling out to the other employees "Hey, who's not busy? Who can help me with this? Who can help a customer for me? I need your guys' help on this one!" Since she is the one that only takes customers in and rings customers up, she does need one of the other employees to actually do the work on the cars. NOT A SINGLE PERSON ACKNOWLEDGED HER when she called out to the guys in the shop. No one said anything, no one started walking over, no one even LOOKED OUR WAY! And yes, my fiance' and I, THE CUSTOMERS, were right behind her seeing all of this. Not only is this INCREDIBLY RUDE to this poor girl trying to give the best customer service SHE can give, but it was not a good thing for us to see. The three of us went out the our cars and were talking for a bit until, FINALLY, someone moseyed out to join us. He had a look on his face that SCREAMED "you're bothering me, what the hell do you want?" and all he said as he walked up was "what do you need?" She told him what my fiance' had intended to do with his tires. He looked at the tires and said "we don't do that here." with a huge attitude, then pretty much just walked away. She began apologizing like crazy and even went as far as to call a couple other auto-repair places she knew that might handle what we needed to do. Like I said, SHE was super sweet. Despite that, when she asked me if I still wanted to get my oil changed, I had to decline. I told her I was very sorry that she had to deal with coworkers like that, and I honestly don't know how she puts up with it, but I want to get my oil changed by people who actually want to do the jobs they are being PAID to do. I was blown away by the HORRIBLE service given by her coworkers and will NEVER return to this store. A couple days later I tried my luck at the Jiffy Lube right next door and received absolutely AMAZING service. I highly recommend you go there for as many of your auto-repair needs as possible. read more

My boyfriend brought my car in and they were able to get it fixed within a few hours. When I went to pick it up Noah who worked on my car came out and explained to me and showed me what happen. Made an appointment for 2pm for an oil change, sat in their waiting area for an hour and a half. Finally asked the guy how much longer it was going to be, he tells me they haven't even gotten to my car yet and he was going to get it right now. I asked him why someone didn't come out and tell me that it was going to be longer than expected , and he shrugged and said it was Saturday and they were busy. I just asked for my keys and left. Do not go here. We went in for an oil change. After an hour said they couldn't do it because we needed a special part and they didn't have any in stock. (You would think they should know that at drop off.). We left. The next day our oil exploded all over our engine. They didn't replace the oil cap! If I lived in Lodi, I'd definitely start bringing my car here. But I was just driving through town, heading to Disneyland when our van broke down here. It was a Sunday afternoon, and Pep Boys was the only repair shop in town that was open. I called and explained the situation and they said if they could diagnose the problem and had the parts in stock to fix it, they'd squeeze us in and get us out the same day. So we had the van towed there. Unfortunately, they didn't have the parts, so we weren't able to get back on the road that day, but in an effort to save us money, Pep Boys called over a dozen salvage yards, and when they couldn't find the parts, they ended up ordering the parts from the manufacturer (about $500 more than the original quote for used parts), paying extra to have the shipping expedited (another 15%), and charging us less than $50 over the original quote. I'm very grateful to Matt and the staff at Pep Boys for working so hard to get our van fixed at a reasonable price. A lot of auto repair places seem to want to take advantage of women drivers, but I was really happy with the way I was treated here.Thank you! read more

We took our Nissan in due to car not passing smog, my husband has a scanning device and has replaced much of the smog parts and still kept getting the same code. So Katrina took the car in and Noel didn the diagnostic. He came out wirh same results as husband got. But offered ideas on what it could possibly be. My daughter took her car in for an oil and filter change, now her car is knocking due to not having enough oil put in her car when serviced. The manager Ken would reply that her car burned up the oil (4 quarts) since her oil change in early December, mind you she has only driven her car less than 100 miles since the service was done. He also mentioned that she has no leaks!!! hmmmm.......where did the oil go???? BBB is getting a claim! Her car was in great running condition prior to her service there. So disappointing~ read more

I just turned around and went to oreily auto parts on Cherokee. the parking situation sucks. if your towing a trailer don't even try getting into the parking lot. if your looking for something on an older vehicle might want to try napa auto parts on kettleman or grafinia brothers (the old napa in down town lodi) because pepboys doesn't know how to find parts unless they can find it in a computer read more

He came out of nowhere to help me . He was courteous knowledgeable and quick to point out what o was doing wrong. We were passing through and our car over heated. We stop here to see what was wrong with the car. We waited for hours, just for them to tell us that we needed services that would cost us $1200. They Recommended services that are not good for high milage cars. They take advantage of travelers. We passed on the $1200 repair and ended up driving to our destination without any problems at all. Had them install new post connectors ($30 labor) only to find out I needed a new battery. Ok, no problem. Bought new battery and whoah! it cost me 14.99 for the battery installation package. What the Hell!! You are already charging me for the labor to install the battery post connectors and then you hit me with a ghost fee to put in the battery?? The guy at the front desk was courteous and straightforward. He took the time to explain why the need for a new battery and credited for my old battery. We brought our car in for an oil change today. Keith the service manager is a hard worker and despite being busy did his best to get everyone checked in and their cars serviced. He's great and apologized for the wait! Not much can be said about Ken the part manager though... He gets no stars in my review. The store manager needs to have a talk with him about teamwork and customer service. While Keith is working hard and people are waiting, Ken is chatting it up with a coffee in his hand with his other part guys. Ken gave excuses as to why he couldn't help out checking people in for service and continued to pass it off on others instead of helping customers... As I just recently moved to Stockton, I was in search of a repair shop for my two vehicles so after receiving a coupon in the mail from Pep Boys, I decided to try them out first..... I read some reviews on yelp so I took my Monte Carlo in for service on Thursday 1/24/19 due to the way it was running & engine light was on.... I was greeted by Katrina & another gentleman at the counter who assisted me in getting the work done on my car but I told them I was in no rush, I just want it repaired, running right and smooth... Katrina was sick with a cold but still went out of her way to help me so get better Katrina so you can provide your excellent services to other customers... I received a call the next day that the mechanic who was working on my vehicle needed to speak with me about some problems so I went in & the mechanic Noel explained the issues (fuel leak, misfire plug, temp sensor, etc) related to my car & I stated, just fix it-keep me updated on the repairs & costs due to my budget... Mind you not, I just had service done on my vehicle at Avery Greene in Vallejo (temp sensor & oil sensor) replaced but obviously the temp sensor was bad because my engine light kept coming on and off-on and off and after speaking with Avery Greene they told me to bring it back in and they have to run another diagnostic which will be another $99 after I just spent over $400 for the services & repairs, are you kidding me, no way-dealers are rip offs, they have to meet their overhead every month.... So let's see how Pep Boys (Lodi) services are.... So I'll give 5 stars for this review & will post another review after my car is repaired..... read more

My Dad and I were on our way from Washington to Arizona, we broke down on I-5 on a Friday night. The tow truck driver dropped our car here. We showed up at opening, and told them our problem. All the staff helped us immediately. They were very patient with my dad (elderly and confused) and took the time to ensure he understood what was happening at all times. They got our part rushed from Sacramento and made sure he got all the discounts (senior, military). All of the staff we worked with, Kimberly, Katrina, Noel, were nothing short of AMAZING! I don't know how all these reviews could be so bad. They were incredible and got us on the road quickly. Don't worry, Dad doesn't drive anymore, he let's us "kids" do that. Thanks Pep Boys!
