I rescheduled my whole day to have the oil change done to my vehicle at 9AM. I arrived on time to the store, only to find out they do not have the personnel on site to do the oil change. They said they would call me when the personnel showed up to do the work. NEVER GOT A CALL! REALLY? WTF? Are you F'N kidding me!! This is not the first time this store has failed to deliver service on time due to no personnel to do the work. PEP BOYS should be out of business PERIOD!! 2 PEP BOYS stores in the MESA AZ area, I have now experienced, who can't seem to get the job done right the first time. And they think coming back at a different time to have the service done is okay. REALLY?? My time is worth nothing?? AND re-scheduling my whole day to have the service done is easy?? I was told on the phone that a diagnosis of my window would be $99. I got there and was told that they were wrong, that it'd be nearly $140. They then said the fix would be over $600. So I'm 3 hours and $140 out and no work was done. read more

I already tried contacting corporate to rectify this. The deeper I dug the more damage I found to my vehicle. When I brought this up to the store manager and assistant store manager nothing has been done so far the damage that they caused is being ignored and they just now got me a replacement rim but it was delivered to another location which I'm going to have to travel to that one. The ridiculous part of all of this is that I was told I would be contacted by the area director after getting in touch with corporate and that was supposed to have happened 4 days ago. The way that this company is run is absolutely ridiculous and I'm contemplating suing. read more

Today, 7/5/23, I drop off my truck around 12:30 for an oil change. The associate (I think Bob was his name) informs me it'll be about an 1 1/2- 2 hours. I tell him no problem and walk home. I return at 3pm thinking my truck is done or at least near completion. Bob is on the phone and another associate assists me. Can't find the info on my truck, goes in back and to ask the mechanics then comes back and I find out my keys are still sitting on their counter. Apparently they completely forgot about my truck. He tells me my truck hasn't been completed yet. I say "What?" He responds "Stuff happened, it got busy, your vehicle hasn't been completed yet." I took my keys and left. I'm so glad I didn't sit around waiting in the shop like I usually do. read more

I usually don't complain about customer service since it takes a lot to piss me off. This pep boys is the absolute worst place I've ever been. Not just for vehicles. For ANYTHING I've ever needed. We called pep Boys and asked if they could do a pressure test on our coolant system. They said they can get us serviced the same day. We dropped off our van 8/05/24 and never heard back from anyone. We called 8/06 and they said they need to do additional testing. We approved. We never heard back until 8/07. We called them and asked what's going on and they said they haven't even begun the additional testing.... Our van was there for 3 days and they never even did the diagnostic test. They never called us to inform us about what's going on. My husband needed the van for work and they couldn't even give us a courtesy call to say they haven't even began the additional diagnosis. Out of frustration we denied the additional testing and picked up our van to take it somewhere else. This place deserves 0 stars. They don't deserve your money. Take your vehicle somewhere else. He tried to sell me lots of things that weren't needed and is difficult to deal with, so after years of going here, I stopped going. PHILIP at this location is a true angel and a great human being. I'm now a Pep Boys customer for life. Philip thank you!! I got a flat tire tonight at 6:45 pm. I called road side assistance, waited an hour for a tow to their recommendation of the closest location to me: Pep Boys. According to their website they closed at 6pm. I knew I'd have to leave my Keys in a drop box or come back in the morning to unlock it. I planned on doing that before I arrived. I got the car to Pep boys at 8:30PM. I noticed their bays were still open, lights on and decided to go into the lobby. That's when I was graced by the presence of Philip. He told me they were closed but that he could see if he had a tire in stock to put on the car right now so he could get me back on the road Right now?? You're closed? They had closed over two hours ago but Philip was willing to help me. Lucky me; they had my exact tire on hand! He quoted me 30 mins to get the tire on. It took Philip 10 minutes. I left at 8:45. It went from a crappy ending on a long day to a really really good experience and a reminder that there are still good humans who do selfless things to help others. Was checked in by a very nice person who I told I would be waiting and not dropping the vehicle off. After 1 1/2 hours of waiting, I checked on the progress. about two weeks ago I got a flat tire on my brand new tires so in the middle of the day I changed my tire and tossed the bad tire into the trunk because I had had a full size spare. I had purchased and put that on my car, so two weeks goes by in my spare full-size tire get a flat as well and so I take my previously flat tire wheel-- that's already in my trunk-- to get a new tire on it...following me so far? my son was going to be on his way to some food market on Main Street and I know there are used tire places there, so I rode with him and jacked his car from him when he went inside the store to go down the street and bought myself a $45 used tire, apparently 4 years old, to put on my wheel, so I could take it home and change out this tire with the full-size spare (that was recently flat too). this would make it so I had three brand new tires and one for your old tire on my car. oh well. and even though it takes five minutes to put on, big O tires on McKellips in Power denied me when I arrive there. 15 minutes before they closed. I asked when the people who pick up the tires normally come see that fit into the time frame and he got snotty with me and said he doesn't know what time they work-- that's not his business... and I said well can you tell me the name of the company so maybe I'll call them to see if they have my tire and he was taken aback that I would even ASSUME he knew these other workers' schedules! I basically lost out on that money. 3 stars bc how are you going to forget to mention a brand new tire is probably under warranty when that's really business and probably be with that a lot, and then to not have my tire some 12 hours later?! Top it off with a snotty attitude about me trying to locate my tire just told around not good after I was super excited and loving them the day before because they were sweethearts and accommodating. I would've just taken off one star for the forgetfulness of telling me about the possible warranty, but another star off for the guy on the phone the next day that wasn't even there the day before just giving me non-direct responses to get me off the phone. read more

I got a flat at Fossil Creek 14 miles from the nearest road, and to my amazement, the spare tire had 0 pounds of pressure in it. Thanks for the nightmare Pepboys, I will never be back. read more

I had brought my vehicle in for a trip check at 8AM on 4/25, I had a laundry list of things that I wanted done to the vehicle, brakes, belts, fluids, filters, AC check, etc. The front desk employees assured me "their grandmaster technician who does the work of 4 or 5 technicians" would be handling it and that my vehicle would be done the same day, if not early the next morning. They must think they have The Flash working there. After getting told once if not twice daily for 4 days straight that my vehicle was "almost done and should be ready to pickup tonight", I got told on 4/30 at 5:17PM to come pick up my vehicle as it was finished. I arrive and my vehicle is still on a lift with the tires off, I then have to wait an hour and pay over 2 grand at 7:10 after they had closed for shoddy work. Their AC service left me with 0.05/1.625lbs of Freon, they emptied it, never refilled it, then gaslit me saying it must've been a hot day. I am now less than a month later having to have it (obviously) recharged. Their belt check service said I looked fine, now less than a month later I'm having to replace a cracked serpentine belt. Their brake evaluation told me my pads were fine, just needed a new brake booster. Again, less than a month later I'm having to replace 2mm thick (WOW!) rear brake pads. They told me my front suspension arms would need replaced, but my rears were fine. Once again, less than a month later I'm having to replace stabilizer links and outer tie rod ends. The cherry on top of it all is that they unplugged my windshield wipers and left them that way, fun thing to find out in the rain yesterday, probably a way to get me to come back to this hellhole. Having to take my car somewhere else 21 days after these schmucks had it for 5 whole days to fix the issues they created or ignored for half the price I was charged at this location is fucking pathetic. Absolutely the worst service ever. I took my truck in because the starter went out and i didn't have the time to fix it my self. While replacing the starter they fried my fuel pump and then stuck me with the bill on that. They then installed a faulty fuel pump and had to replace it and then fried my pcm. I complained to corporate about it and they told me to bring it back they would give me a rental car until the truck is fixed. They are now 6 months later trying to stick me with the bill for the rental that they said they would take care of. Raphael then proceeded to commit insurance fraud saying he was my insurance agency and forged my signature on documents for the rental. read more

i've been going to this location is the 2019, I always thought the service was fair or good until recently. Now I'm wondering on the other repairs if I was overcharged. I went in. They said I have a coolant leak and over $4000 worth of repairs would need to be done. The leak I have that shows up on my driveway is under the oil pan. I am taking it to a different mechanic for a second opinion one that I used to go to all the time they had my car for a day they took a look at everything that Pep Boys told me I need it replaced , none of it does. My thermostat is fine I do not have a coolant leak. Yes my belts need to be replaced that's fine but they also showed me that I have an oil leak the seal or O-rings on my oil pan need to be replaced. I've also contacted the dealer and they explained to me that if my thermostat was faulty, my check engine light would be on my check engine light has not been on since 2018 when I had an eve app leak and this mechanic says it will cost me about 1000 to replace everything that's including the oil pan that Pep Boys, should've have noticed they probably figured they fix all the other stuff and the next time I'm in for a oil job they'll tell me about that and cost me another four grand. I'll go back to my old mechanic someone I can trust.. read more

Then tried to tell me a 78$ tire at Discount goes for 140, but don't worry he'll make mounting and balancing for free. Discount will do it for 15$ less (126$out the door) and not lie to me. My Company car had a dead battery on a day where I was extremely busy. I went to this Pep Boys location and was greeted by Rafael Ramirez and his "Can do!" attitude. He worked with me and the Fleet Leasing company when they wanted me to take the car to the dealership and then they wanted me to wait for a less expensive battery to be delivered to this location from a Phoenix store. Rafael worked with the Fleet Administrators, had his team change the battery like an Indy Pit Crew and got me on my way in record time. Rafael and his team really came through. read more

Rafael called my wife and I on Monday. He was very kind and polite. He had us bring our vehicle back into the shop and he had his Master Technician look at the armrest and pinpoint what was going wrong. Rafael then offered to fix it with no charge to us and he also offered an apology for how we were treated previously by his day technician. So kudos for doing the right thing Pep Boy's Corporate! But the one thing that still bothered us was that after everything we had been put through Rafael couldn't, or wouldn't accept responsibility for fault of the broken armrest. Instead he said he looked online for manufacturer defects in the armrest (which he couldn't find), and tried to make us feel as though it might have been broken over time before we brought it into them. Very happy with the end result and Rafael's treatment of us but wish someone would have accepted responsibility for what had happened. Obviously the shop knows something happened otherwise their day shift Manager Pat wouldn't have played it off like the armrest was in normal working order! read more

The air conditioning in my wife's 2006 Toyota Highlander stopped blowing cold air less than a year after being serviced by our local neighborhood Pep Boys, so I called, made an appointment for two days later, and brought it in. I was VERY disappointed when they informed me that they could not service the vehicle because there was no qualified mechanic to perform the duties. I was sent 15 miles away to the Higley Road location. I spoke with Rafael who was extremely courteous and helpful and even ordered a Lyft to drive me home in the rain. He called later and said they put in the new condenser and the AC was working great. They took it for a ride and the AC cut off. Checked it back out and discovered that the compressor was grinding and burnt out. When he checked our receipt, he saw no charge for oil and feels that it was not added or not enough was added when our local "Boys" put in the last compressor. His mechanic put in a brand new compressor with the correct oil, in addition to a new condenser. He waived the labor fee, even though the warranty had expired for labor. He only charged us $810 total. He also called me a Lyft that was at my house in two minutes. (Dude was driving 80+ and got me there with the quickness .) The AC was freezing and I had the control on low. Thanks to Rafael and his team, my wife is driving in comfort on her commutes to and from her employment and Pep Boys continues to have our business, though we will choose to travel 15 miles away to Rafael's Pep Boys! read more

Slow, even with an apointment & lazy customer service. Here's the story: I called the day before with a check engine light and scheduled an appointment for noon the next day. Arrived at 11:45, dropped the keys off and was informed that I'd receive a call once the diagnostic had been run. No news until 1:30 when I called them to find out what was up. They had JUST gotten my car up to run the diagnostic. After they ran the test, I got a call back. Simple fix they were going to try and would call me when it was done. THREE hours later I called back. They were just then getting my car up to make the fix. They weren't busy, and should have at least given me a call to let me know they weren't going to get to my fix until late in the day. I will not be back. read more

My son who is in college had his car towed to this location after the car died after a drive from WA. The guy working told him they would inspect it but his guess was it was a blown engine or a loose hose. Then went on to tell him that if he was a blown engine that it would cost 5-6,000K to fix it and the dealership would charge him 8-10K. He then proceeded to ask my son what his budget was!! This gave my son an uneasy feeling and he asked for his keys back and called the Ford dealership. He had the car towed there where they promptly inspected it finding a loose hose where they fixed it and didn't charge us a dime! Maybe the intent wasn't to take advantage of a teenager but it sure appeared that way. read more
