I went to Pep Boys to inspect my vehicle. I had called the day before for an appointment and was told it would only take about 30 minutes. When i got there I was told they could not tell me how long it would take even with an appointment. Enter SHAWN.... He approached the problem reasonably and made it work for all parties without any problems. Once in a while you find an employee who is customer service driven and makes a difference in everyone's day.. I hope Pep Boys knows they have one!! The most expensive place to get an oil change ($35) and they couldn't even figure out how to fix a broken headlight. They told me it was a wiring problem however, if it was then both headlights would be out, not just one of them. I went to advanced auto, bought the bulb and fixed it myself. Also, they were going to charge me an additional $40 for the headlight when the bulb cost $10. Nobody here knows what they're doing and they over price you for their lack of service. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR REPAIRED HERE! Not too long ago, I went to pep boys to get a full 72 or 1001 or whatever point inspection and clean and refill all my car's needs, I also bought new tires and had them put on. 1. I spent a good chunk of change... 2. The day after I had my pep boys new tired, I'm driving home from work and I hear and feel major wobbling, I pull over and my right passenger tire was about to fall off, my new tire was not tightend down my lugnuts were loose, almost off 3 Six weeks later my transmission burned up..new mechanic says that pep boys used the wrong fluid for my car and it burned it up. 4. My oil and oil filter changed, never happened, another six weeks goes by and my car's leaking oil, went back to the new guy who fixed my transmission, he tells me I've never changed my oil filter, I say yes, yes I have had it done at pep boys, he tells me that my oil filter is the manufacturer's oil filter and it's rotted out..had I waited too much longer I would have needed a new motor! I had made an appointment for 10 am and was told the wait would be no longer than 2 hours. 6 hours later I'm leaving with a mediocre job ... My 75-year-old father went in 2 weeks ago for a coolant flush. Last week the check engine light came on, 45 miles of driving after being at Pep Boys for services and getting a "100-point inspection". When he brought it back to see why the light came on, they told him that it needs a new radiator, among other things, totaling over $1700. For a car that had no issues 2 weeks prior, and was going in for scheduled maintenance. With that in mind, I went in to ask some basic questions, like where is the leak coming from, which I was told by the salesman that it was from the hoses and the lube tech said it was the main radiator. All of this seemed too sketchy, so I picked up his car from these idiots, and brought it to a trusted mechanic. My mechanic informed me that all the car needed was a new Temperature gauge, and a COOLANT FLUSH, the service that he brought it in for in the first place! He said the fluid was much, much older than just a couple weeks, meaning Pep Boys never did it, or did such a bad job that it looked like it had not been done. After saving my father over $1400 in bullshit services, I would highly recommend going elsewhere with your vehicles. read more

Scheduled an oil change and tire rotation on 11/9 for 11/10 at 9:00 am using their online schedule. I arrived at the shop at 8:45 - checked in and was told that my appointment was at 11:00 am. I said my appointment is at 9, they said I must have picked 11.. I pulled up my online confirmation showing a time of 9:00 am. Showed it to them, their response was "we can't control the online stuff". Said they might be able to get me in in around 45 minutes and it would take another hour or so to complete. On Sunday, April 2nd, I visited the Pep Boys located at 274 Amherst St, Nashua, NH 03063 (at approximately 12:30PM). The battery in my vehicle had died and I drove to this facility in hopes of having my battery replaced. When I pulled up to a garage bay, I noticed 3 gentlemen standing there, looking at me. Not one of them offered any assistance so I got out of my vehicle and approached one of them. I was told to park my vehicle and go inside. When I explained that if I shut the vehicle off, it would not start back up he stated that they have a jumper. So, I parked my vehicle and went inside. I approached the counter and was told that they had a guy available and would have my vehicle in, in about 5-10 minutes and he showed me the prices of batteries available. Great. I sat down in the lounge area and checked out the batteries online for more info. I noticed that if I purchased the battery online, I would receive a 25% discount. Great. I placed an order and a gentleman brought over a battery. I noticed that it had been over 1/2 an hour now and my vehicle was still outside. I approached the counter and another gentleman asked if I was all set. I told him I wasn't sure, that I was told it would be 5-10 minutes to bring it in and it has now been over 1/2 an hour. Still not an issue since I had no appointment. A few minutes later, the gentleman came in to tell me that I did need a new battery. He noticed the battery that I had ordered online and when he went in to the order, told me that the cost was going to be $159.99. I asked about the online discount and he said that it didn't show up that way in the system. I asked how I would get the discount. He told me that I would have to place another order. Great. I go online to place another order and now the Pep Boys website is down. Now, I find this to be truly aggravating and ask if my vehicle is running because I no longer wish to wait around for a battery and poor customer service nor to pay more for the battery than I should. Since no one could override the price and it's now been 45 minutes that I've been waiting, I wish to go elsewhere. The gentleman stated that my vehicle wasn't running. I asked if he could get it running and he then asked if I would like for them to pull it out. YES! I drive 5 minutes to an Auto Zone, walk up to the counter, choose the battery (at a lower price for a more powerful battery) and while I'm paying for the battery, a gentleman replaces it for me. This took all of 5 minutes. I now know where I will be going for my walk-in automotive needs. read more

Worst customer service, especially if you are a woman. I inquired about obtaining a new lens cover for my car as my other one fell off/went missing. the man i dealt with was incredibly condescending and right off the bat asked me "what'd you hit?" Durrrr i forgot just because I have a vagina, my car is doomed to forever be involved in accidents. Nevermind the fact i somehow miraculously hit something hard enough to lose my lens cover but not hard enough to break the bulb inside or have any dents or scratches to my paint. i then made the mistake of purchasing four new tires there and was told my fourth one would be free after rebate and it would arrive in 4-6 weeks. Here we are 6 weeks later and its still not even in the mail. when i call the rebate center all i get is a crackerjack excuse of "well it says 8 to 10 weeks on the rebate form" okaaaaay but i was told 4 to 6 weeks. the half wits in the rebate center have no sympathy and are absolutely USELESS! Ibhave since taken my automotive needs to Auto Zone and they have been nothing but helpful and friendly and they dont assume that the cause of my vehicle's problems comes from the fact that i am a woman. read more

recently went in for an oil change, i was told i didn't need an appointment, it eventually took 2 hours before it was done. The next morning as i was leaving my driveway i noticed that the skid plate was torn to shreds. I brought it back and they needed to order the part from the dealership. The only reason they are getting a star is because I can't give them any less. DO NOT GO HERE! They will rip you off, especially if they think you know nothing about cars. On Saturday, leaving work, my car was dead in the parking lot. I thought battery, and that I must have left a light on or something. I got my car jumped, but when it jumped I noticed nothing was left on. I got worried that something more must be wrong with my car since I got a new battery about 6 months ago. Next day I go to turn my car on for work again, dead. I jumped my car and drove to Vavoline, where I had gotten the battery to see if it is faulty. It was, and they replaced it for free. They said the alternator looked fine, but I should go to Pep Boys to get the charge tested for free. Vavoline would have done it, but did not have the equipment. I drove down to Pep Boys and explained the situation. I told them that Vavoline said I could get the charge tested for free. I was told by an associate, that they only do free testing if the alternator is out of the vehicle. Since I drove there, the part was obviously still in tact inside my car. They then told me it would cost $100 to remove, test, and put the alternator back in. I told them no, and asked if there was a way to test it by keeping it in the car. They said yes, but it wasn't free. It was like pulling teeth to get him to tell me what that would cost. He said $20 and it should be all set within the hour because there was an oil change in front of me. It took over an hour and a half. He proceeded to tell me the alternator was shot and would cost me almost $500 to replace. I thanked him, but told him I wasn't making a decision today because I was torn with continuing to put money in the car or to replace it since I had just gotten a new battery, radiator, and brakes within the past few months. He tried to sell me a similar car he had for sale. Today, 3 days later I brought my car to my mechanic and told him that the alternator needed to be replaced, but I wanted to see what else was wrong with the car before I decided if it was worth fixing again. To my surprise, I get a call from my mechanic telling me there is nothing wrong with my alternator and he doesn't know why anyone would tell me otherwise. They ran every test they could, and it passed with flying colors every time. PEP BOYS IS A SCAM! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! read more

I myself have had parts replaced there and had them fail a couple hundred miles later only to have these guys deny that they ever changed that part. On a road trip to Boston from New Jersey. Needed to get a tire stem replaced. Stopped at Pepboys due to their late hours. Liam was working the service area. Straight asshole! Liam was on a call when we presented to the desk. Waited patiently until he finished his call. Afterwards Liam told us to give him one minute. He took some papers into the shop area them came back and took customers that came in AFTER US!! He completely ignored us. My husband interrupted Liam's conversation and stated we were here before they came in. Liam again told us to give him a minute and continued to assist the customers who came in after us. THANK GOD for Erik. I saw him walking and stopped him to ask for his assistance. He helped change the tire stem ASAP and we were on our way! Liam did not apologize for his arrogance in the mistreatment he gave us. I frequent Pepboys in New Jersey and never received this type of bias treatment before. Maybe due to my skin being brown and the other customers where white. I'm unsure, but it was blatantly obvious Liam felt we didn't deserve to be assisted. You need to promote Erik due to his superb & quick customer service skills and overall great attitude! Kudos to Erik! Pepboys need more employees like him! I'm rating ERIK 5 stars ... I am shocked at the customer service my family received from the Nashua, NH location on Amherst St. My fiancé and brother went to this location on 12/13 to purchase a few items for my father. One of these items (vent visors) had to be specially ordered. When we asked what could be done to make sure they were here for Christmas the gentleman went and got the store manager who ensured they would be ordered that day and that they would be in the store on Wednesday (12/17) upon receiving these the store would then call us to come pick them up. Had we of known it was going to turn into a nightmare we would have taken our business else ware. On Thursday night (12/18) we hadn't received a call so my fiancé called the store to ask if the visors were there. My fiancé wasn't even done with his sentence before he was rudely cut off by the store worker who stated "they were not there and had they of been there we would of received a call." We let this slide and figured we would wait one more day. Friday (12/19) at lunch time, still no call. We called the store and were told again "nothing has come in yet". This gentleman was a bit nicer. However, no one went out of their way to figure out why the package that we paid for to be there on Wednesday still wasn't in the store. Friday night we called again. Still no package. (At first they said there was no order history for them, for us. We told them to look again because we had all the information on our end. That's when they came back and stated that there was still no package. On Saturday, we had enough and called the store and asked if our vent visors were there. We were told no. We then stated that we were on our way to come get our money and that we were no longer interested in the visors. That's when the gentleman on the phone stated "o here's fedex now". I found this interesting that the minute you go to cancel an order your package shows up? Upon getting to Pepboys and receiving our items I tracked the number on the box. Interesting that the item shipped from Akron, OH on Tuesday night and was delivered to Pepboys at 11:22am on Wednesday(12/17). The store had our item the entire time but was telling us they didn't. I have been at this store on several occasions and had customers around me with issues. They ordered a product the wrong one was shipped to them, etc. Every time I have witnessed this the customer service from these employees was unacceptable. They have never once gone out of their way to make the situation better for the customer. I did end up calling corporate and getting the situation resolved but beware of this location! read more

Just wanted to write a brief writeup of FANTASTIC customer service that I recently received at Pep Boys of Nashua, NH from KEN (didnt get his last name).....In an attempt to be brief I went to Pep Boys to pick up a battery and have it installed as my online purchase included free installation. I rushed down there after ordering it online and when I go there the place was slammed (around 7:30pm)....Ken pulled me out of the service line, grabbed my battery and when I told him I was told my battery woud be installed as long as I got there by 8pm he said this may be tough. When I told him the car was outside running as I did not want the battery to die, but that if he gave me the tools (a wrench) I woud do so myself. He said "No, if we told you we would install it, we will install it." He then brought the battery out to my car, installed it and sent me on my way so I could say goodnight to my kids. I also offered to tip him but he refused the offer, as he said he was just doing his job. Wish he took the money in some ways but love that he didnt as well/ Now that is customer service, which is often seriously lacking at most "Big Box" stores.these days. While I dont always want to shop at places like Pep Boys ( I prefer Mom and Pop stores) I will say if you have to go to Pep Boys, ask for Ken and tell him I sent ya! read more

Wow. I've had tire service done both here and at other Pep Boys' locations nationwide, but I've never had such bad service as I did today. I had a slow leak in a tire that was covered under the road hazard warranty. When I went to my appointment, I explained this several times to Sean, the clerk at the repairs & tire counter. He stated several times that he understood I had the road hazard warranty. Fast forward an hour. (A full hour, despite the fact that I had an appointment and it was just a leak in one tire!) I've seen my car drive out of the bay, but am patiently waiting for him to tell me my car is ready. After waiting 15 more minutes I politely tell him that "my keys are on this counter. Is my car done?" He says oh yeah...ok....I guess so. That will be $some amount. I explained...what a minute...I said I had the road hazard warranty, and again showed him my road hazard warranty receipt. He says: "Slow leaks are not covered by the road hazard...only complete tire replacement." Not a whisper of "not covered by the road hazard warranty" BEFORE I dropped the car off or DURING the service (otherwise, I might not have bothered because it was a very slow leak). After arguing with him for 5 minutes I paid about $12 and left, pissed. Didn't even bother to have him print my receipt, I was so mad. Very dissapointing after several years of good tire service from Pep Boys. read more

I was on my way home from work early and ended up getting here early, 5:30, so when the cashier told me it'd be about half an hour out I completely understood. Now it's almost an hour and a half later and they just started draining the oil. :( This is my first time at Pep Boys. Okay, so I had been to this Pep Boys a few times over the years because I used to work in the area. Since it is no longer a convenient location for me, I don't end up there often, but every time I do, I realize that's a mistake. The team there is so obscenely helpful that the creep in me is pretty sure we're all real-life friends now. Every time I've been there they always give me some kind of great deal, or throw in something extra. They have a great lounge for customers to chill while waiting complete with stations to charge your devices and a solidly stocked lil' coffee nook. I've literally walked in there before and had my tires replaced, my oil changed, my emergency brake fixed, and something about rotars done (I don't know, man, I'm not a mechanic...) with no appointment all in the time that it took to walk to Dunk's next door for coffee and peruse a couple of stores across the street. Tonight I went in for an oil change and because my engine was sounding loud. They very quickly discovered that my old cap wasn't on (womp womp), did the oil change (which they gave me a bit of a discount on simply because I think they felt bad that someone didn't screw my cap on somewhere else), offered a free tire rotation, and filled my fluids for me. I'm definitely not making the mistake of tramping around to other garages anymore. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I made an appointment for a state inspection almost a week in advance. I arrive at my appointment time. After over an hour of waiting, my car still had not been moved. My husband and I ask how much longer and we're told "we should be able to get it in to start in about 30-45minutes." Ummmm...what is the point of an appointment if the car isn't even moved 90+ minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment time. The man notices we aren't happy and says, "well, Valvoline is open." Needless to say, we didn't stay to see how much longer we needed to wait until the car was even moved to begin the inspection. We drove a few miles down the street to Midas and got in - without an appointment- and the car was in the bay within 10 minutes of arriving. Faster and cheaper inspection at Midas. Not worth the time spent waiting to ever go back to Pep Boys. Definitely won't be going back to Pep Boys!!! read more

I needed a radiator for my 1996 Toyota Camry (297, 300 miles) so I shopped around and decided on Pep-Boys. The Bad: In order to get a discount I had to go the store in Nashua to find out why I couldn't find the discount code. I then went home so I could order online only to find out Pep-Boys was directing me to a different store location. No reason was given so I called the help line and was on that line waiting for over 30 minutes when I gave up (so much for a national help line). After much fussing around I did manage to pickup my radiator from the Nashua store. Everything was great until a UPS truck stopped at my house and dropped off another radiator and charged my credit card accordingly. I believe all of this could have been avoided had someone, who knows the Pep-Boys "system" had answered the phone. So I am now, for a third trip, driving to Pep-Boys to return the unordered radiator. So Pep-Boys...why have a help line if you aren't going to use it? The Good: The sales person I had, Sean C. in Nashua, worked with me; was ultimately the one person that understood what was going on. If I return to Pep-Boys it will be because of sales persons that will listen and work with you and not because of the "great" corporate help line! Thank you Nashua! read more

I would give zero stars if I could! CONSUMER BEWARE! I went to pep boys for a routine inspection on a car I had bought about 6 months ago. 6 months prior it had passed a UCC at the dealership and got a clean bill of health. (My mother works at Toyota so we had a technician that we trust and work closely with on all our cars) however, rather than bother him with a state inspection that I was sure was going to pass I chose to go to pep boys to get it done quick. BIG MISTAKE. They failed my car and quoted me $1500 to fix a steering gear leak and noted that the leak was excessive. I told the guy straight up I didn't have the 1500 and being a 22 year old girl I'd have to have my dad look it over and we would probably just shop the estimate to get the best price. Dude knocks 200$ just like that. I still decline as $1300 is still way out of my price range. He reluctantly prints an estimate and writes his name all over it and then takes 30 mins to get me my keys back. I bring the car to my moms technician and he has his assistant look at it. The guy tells him the leak is not excessive and is intact not even a leak. There was limited residue but nothing that would constitute excessive or a failure. He slapped a sticker on it that day and told me that the mechanic at pep boys had to have been LOOKING and searching for something to fail my car with probably given that I was a 22 year old girl. He expressed that whoever gave that "qualified opinion" was not qualified and should be removed from the service team. I am baffled as to why pep boys found this leak but the Toyota carried technician could find no such hint. This company point blank tries to scam me out of $1300 dollars for absolutely no reason. I will never go back my family will never go back. I urge anyone who goes there to stop going there & to get a second opinion. I cannot express how angry I am at this company. read more

I went to Pep boys in nashua at 4pm on a Saturday to get my tire plugged as I was losing air and my dash light went on. I was told it would cost 20.99. My friend joe thought that was expensive but I called around and it was the cheapest and opened. I always go to honda as I drive a crv and figured I'd go to where I bought it ,,, better service,, well they were closing in 2min so I could come back tomorrow they said, ( I was right outside) so I went to pep boys,, right next store.. I was treated right away by a nice man,, mark or john,,, not sure,,, but he took my info and said I could sit in the lounge and they would be right back!!,10 mins later he came and told me the tire was pluggable and it would be a about 10 min. I waited and could see my car and in 10 min he came in with my keys and the bill and handed it to me and said"" we had a a free tire repair coupon from yesterday that the customer didn't use so we used it for you,have a nice day and your good to go""" I was stunned!! I can't tell you how happy I was and am for there kindness and professionalism and just there total record for helping others. I will be a grateful and permadent patron of this astaplishment form now on and please join me!!!!! Still waiting for a call back to that I could be given his "undivided attention"...of course that was after the phone rang for quite a while in the service department. The call was then rerouted (as the ring tone changed) and a gentleman answered "This is Ken, can I help you?" I said "Hi Ken, is the service department open right now?" - it really didn't seem like an absurd question, it is Sunday after all. He responded "Like I said, this is Ken, can I help you?". Automatically my shields went up - but I always try to give the benefit of the doubt - maybe he was with a difficult customer, and he's really not a customer service rep. I begin to ask about having work done on my car...he stops me and says "TODAY???!!!" I replied, "no not today, I just need to drop it off today because I have to work tomorrow". He said "let me take your number and call you back so I can give you my undivided attention...I'm with a customer right now...give me 15-20 minutes" Yeah - well store closes in 40 minutes, it's been 2 hours - pretty sure Ken isn't going to call me back - and by the looks of the reviews - I guess it's a good thing. read more
