Went in for brake work. Already knew I would be overcharged but oh well. Not many places open on a Sunday, including where I usually go. My estimate was laughable- including $47 for a cabin air filter (ya fckn right). Told me I need tires too (but of course!!). I swear they have special shit they only try to pull on females. Opted out of all that and the brakes were done fairly quickly. Wouldn't honor military discount since I already 'got a discount' due to some "special" they were running. Wtf? I came in for a squealing brakes problem. So I went in and they test drove my car and cone to find out i disnt need new pads loke the delawrship said. Karl and his crew fixed what was needed and didn't have to buy new pads. They sanded out what the dealership called "old" --which has 80% left...Really good people here. First time coming into Pep Boys ever. I was greeted very promptly, I was given a price quote, wasn't pushed to buy anything I didn't ask for. In and out in 30 minutes and Tamara is awesome. The store manager, Wade, made sure my son was well entertained and while we were there, defused a crazy, uninformed customer masterfully. He was also very respectful when the customer started using gross language in front of my kid, to let her know it wasn't cool. Stopped in here this morning to replace my rear shoes. They told me $99 and said 1-1 1/2 hour. Great! I usually do my own work but anyone that knows rear shows can be a pain in the butt. So I said lets do it! 4 hours later I'm still sitting here. Ugh. read more

Wanting to be safe and thinking I could trust a national chain I brought my car in that had no front brakes. I was quoted a lil under $1,300.00. I wanted to cry. These guys are great! My brakes were grinding and they showed me what was wrong..even though both rotors were scored and damaged the rotors were still good enough to resurface. I would have bought rotors just by looking at them, they could've sold me rotors, but didn't. My brake system needed some TLC, I did Google the recommendations. They were all correct. It's not there fault my brakes were bad. Don't know what's Sarah problem is....calipers are the muscle of the brake system. Overcharging ppl like crazy. They told my SO $100 to get the brakes done. BUT ONCE THE WHEELS WERE OFF, the gave an estimate of a whopping $655.25 !!! Of course my SO didn't fall for it & got it done somewhere else for $260. Some poor guy was getting some shocks done, he had been there for like 5 hours & they were charging him $600-something!!! NEVER, EVER GO HERE!!! They use substandard parts, will tell you you need hundreds of dollars of work done that you don't, and their mechanics rip things apart then don't know how to put them back together correctly. Went to a professional mechanic to get their work corrected and they said they were absolutely appalled at how bad of a job they did and how crappy the parts were. Their gimmick is to sucker you in with free replacement pads, which of course wear out very quickly because they're poor quality and they are depending on you coming back over and over to get more work done you don't need done. DON'T go here. I went in because my car was making a grinding noise when coming to a stop. I took it in and they said "my calipers needed to be replaced or resurfaced (I don't exactly remember), brakes etc etc."Cost 400 and something dollars. I said okay I will be back. He then says "you know if you keep driving your car it can be dangerous." Okay? So I take it somewhere else and they said "we just need to replace your front breaks and the rotors. I said, "Are you sure?" Are my calipers okay? They said yeah perfectly fine. WHAT THE!!!! Please if you decide to do business with them GET A SECOND opinion I'm glad I did. As soon as I get home from getting my car fixed I received a voice mail from the guy at Just brakes saying "hi it's so and so just wanted to tell you if you just want to replace your brakes and you can get your calipers done at a later time we are running that $99 special just come by." I took my Murano in to see why it was shaking at higher speeds. I was told it was my shocks and control arm bushings. They quoted me a price of $1400. I waited because I really didn't have the money at the time. A few days later I was telling my niece about my car and she told me to take it to her mechanic for a second opinion, I took it to the shop she suggested. They inspected it and took me into the bay to show me what they found. I had a screw in my back driver side tire, a nail in my front driver side tire and my tires needed rotated. I told them what Just Brakes said and he showed me every part and said because of my mileage I might want to replace my shocks within the year but they don't "need" replaced, and he showed me the control arm bushings and said they has some wear but are fine. For $62 they patched the tires, rotated the tires and gave me an oil change. I jumped on the freeway as soon as they were finished to make sure it wasn't shaking and NOTHING!!!!! No shake, no jiggle no nothing but a smooth ride. They saved me $1338 and who knows what Just Brakes would've said was wrong with it after that. I will never go to Just Brakes again and caution you against it. BTW my niece said she could've told me about Just Brakes because she was involved in a class action lawsuit against them. SMH how these rip off artists are allowed to stay in business. read more
