I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel obligated to warn others. John, the manager at Pep Boys, provided some of the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. My wife and I had our truck in for major repairs--a new engine and transmission totaling close to $21,000--and throughout the entire process, communication was nonexistent. We repeatedly called asking for updates, and John never once followed up or returned our calls. Because of this lack of communication, our repairs were delayed far longer than they should have been. Once the work was finally completed, instead of any kind of professionalism or courtesy, John demanded full payment by the end of the day and pushed us to remove the truck from the shop immediately. This was after weeks of us trying to get him to move things along. The urgency on his end only seemed to appear when it came time to collect payment. To make matters worse, they recommended replacing our brakes and rotors but refused to even begin that work until we paid for the already delayed repairs. That would have meant even more downtime for our vehicle. We decided to get a second opinion at Firestone, and they told us the brakes and rotors looked almost new and didn't need replacement at all. That alone seriously calls into question the honesty of what we were being told. Overall, I felt disrespected and pressured. It seemed like John was more focused on getting paid than actually taking care of customers or managing his shop responsibly. From what I observed, his attitude toward his own staff wasn't much better. I get that you can't fix stupid, but stupid should not be managing a branch or shop like this. Chuy is a great and professional assitant there and so is Adam in the shop but because of the manager John I had to leave a bad review. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone based on this experience, until John leaves this shop or preferably gets let go. I sat in the lobby for six hours SIX with my dog in the heat because I was told it would only be two hours. Then on the drive home, my check engine light came back on, and I called them. Turns out they gave me a faulty part. So then I have to drop the car off right before they close because I've been there all day. To take an Uber home to have to take an Uber back the next day only for my car to completely shut down a couple weeks later because the wrong Center was put in my car AGAIN!!!!!!! I called the one 800 number I made a complaint and they called me back just to say sorry period nothing more!!!! I lost two days of my life, uber money and now everything I'm doing to repair my car from the mistake which has made me missed a copious amount of work shifts! read more

We normally go to the pep boys on Simmons on Craig. Or discount tires. Both of our favorite location is closed on a Sunday I think these guys are short handed. The guy did say they'll take an hour. We walk to timbers to take our time to eat and stayed an hour to watch the Pittsburgh vs Bengals game. We looked on the app and it says our car is in progress. After the game we started walking back to pep boys and our car is still in the parking lot. At the end of the tunnel no charge. Cashier mention that the nail did not penetrate through the tire. What really sucks through this entire process. It was approximately three and a half hours. I've been at my favorite location discount tires and a pep boys on Simmons. They would have got me out of there an hour short-handed. At the end of the day I'm just glad my tires not flat. I'm glad these guys were open to work on my ride. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews here before taking my car in for an oil change! I called yesterday morning about 10:30 & asked if I needed an appointment? I spoke to John & was told to be there at 3pm & it would take about a 1/2 hour. I walked in exactly at that time & Jesus was at the counter, basically ignored me while taking several phone calls. I told him I had an appt. and he scrolled through the computer and told me no I did not. I then informed him & had spoken to John, who was "conveniently in a meeting". Uh huh, I asked how long the wait was also informing him John told me a half hour. I recently had a back injury & am in a big brace & told him I could NOT sit for much longer than that. After 50 minutes I got very restless & was in pain & he said it was almost done & that they were bringing my car around. I then asked IF they checked for the small leak I originally asked to be check & nothing but a blank stare? The mechanic then came out & I asked him about the leak...He said he was told I was in a hurry & did NOT do ANY of the extra inspections promised on the web site as part of the oil change.. He then went back & said it was the transmission fluid leaking & topped it off. I have no way of checking this so I took them at their word. WHY don't take pride in their work ethic and do as promised? BYW, several other customers walked in & out because of the rude customer service! Made an appointment same day was scheduled for 11. Once I arrived right away after asking for a vehicle inspection I was denied service the representative stated all techs are busy, I proceeded to tell him I had an appointment he totally dismissed that and again said they only had 2 techs available and all appointments made it in, not sure what I was supposed to do with that I asked why wasn't I informed of this his answer was it sometimes happens not all the time. Had my evaporator core replaced (the reason we chose Pep Boys was because our regular mechanic couldn't get us in for 2 weeks, it was summertime) and maybe a year later the AC was blowing hot air again. Called Pep Boys, had to go to W Lake Mead store because they had the machine. Tony the manager says they have to test for leaks. I repeatedly explained to him the evaporator core had been replace the previous year. It's the beginning of 2024. After countless times of taking my car back because 24 hours after they serviced it, no AC. Tony kept saying there was a leak and wouldn't check the evaporator core. Mind you, I am in my 60s and riding around in triple digit heat without AC. After I spent $700 for them to fix what they didn't fix the first time and still didn't fix it. I called corporate and Tony routed me to the 3501 Rancho store (which is closed now). Jon the manager, same thing we have to test for leaks on 7/2/2024. He calls me on 7/3 and I confirm no AC. I take it on 7/5/24 for the evaporator core to be changed. Get my car back, the vents are not blowing strong, there is white drippings all over my car, wires pulled out, windshield wipers not working and now my car is making a whining sound sometimes when the AC is on. Jon put the wires back, they lost the bolt to my glove box, had to ride around with it open for 3 weeks, which caused it to bend out of shape. However, my car was still whining. They couldn't get the car to make the sound so they said there was nothing they could do. Called corporate back for the next few months. I videotaped when the car made the sound. Went to 4141 N Rancho, corporate sent me, Vic the manager heard the video said they couldn't do anything unless they could get the car to do it. I called corporate. September 29, 2025, Raphael Sanchez calls me, states he is the area manager for Vegas. Says they will take care of my car. Gives me his cell number. Tony from W Lake Mead calls, says the specialist is coming in and to bring my car in. Take my car in, they open the vents properly however the car didn't make the sound so nothing was checked. I call Raphael back, guess what the phone is out of service. He was a fake, they had him call and pretend to be an area manager. 1/1/2026, my car is still making that whining sound and the corporate office is no longer responding. I scheduled an appointment for 8am on Saturday 4/5 for a vehicle inspection. I arrive on time and the representative was opening the door for the day. I was the first in the store and the rep said that they don't schedule vehicle inspections on the weekend. He then proceeded to tell me that he will do the inspection after he finishes with other appointments. To reiterate I was the first one in the store, no other customers were in the store and I had an apt for 8am. He then said that the price was double of what I was told. 3/20/24 YET ANOTHER EDITION **** Called and spoke to manager Ian. I was immediately yelled at and unable to get a word in. I was told "IVE SEEN YOUR REVIEW! YOUR NOT GETTING MONEY BACK!" So just a head up, don't leave Ian less than 5 stars or he's gonna throw a tantrum. EDIT***** Do NOT go here under any circumstances. Just a few days later and my car started making crazy noises and now won't move!My husband was able to get under the car to look and I am missing bolts!!!!! And others were left loose! This place has put me and my children in danger! And when my husband called they REFUSED to speak to him?!?!? Don't go here for anything! Unless you have a death wish. Oof. I can't think of one nice word to say. My car was shuttering a bit while braking so I took it in. The back brake pads and rotors were replaced in May 2023 but the shuttering continued. After further diagnostics were done I was told that the issue was a control arm. After all of the repairs were done (including the front pads and rotors) the cost was around $3500. This was around October 2023. Almost immediately I noticed that the brakes were squealing a bit. In November 2023 I brought the car in for an oil change and asked for a brake inspection. We were told that everything looked fine and was maybe just the new pads "wearing in". By March 2024 the squealing noise was so loud that I couldn't drive with my windows down. I took the car back to this location. I was then told that the issue was a motor mount and would cost $700 plus another $750 for shocks and they could not guarantee that this would fix the squeal. At this point I had to INSIST that the brake pads be replaced. I may not be an expert but some simple research assured me that the pads were more than likely the issue here ( And they are still under warranty at this point). After being treated like a silly woman for 10 minutes they finally agreed to replace the pads. A few hours later I returned for my car. The attendant (Ian) saw us pull into the parking lot and ran to us before we were even out of our car. He showed us what looked like brand new pads and assured me that I was incorrect and the brake pads were fine. I then went on a test drive with the other attendant. I do not know his name but I'll refer to him as "Smokey Joe" since he walked me around my car and talked to me while blowing cigarette smoke in my face and the face of my one year old child. So me and Smokey Joe go on our test drive where he continued to condescendingly laugh and make rude comments about my driving. Made fun of me for using a blinker to signal leaving a parking lot and told me I was "too soft" for driving only 40mph in a 35. Then Smokey Joe told me that I "ride the brakes" and that why my brake pads were warped so quickly. He then produced some very rough looking brake pads and showed me how damaged they were. BUT WAIT A MINUTE! I thought Ian couldn't wait to RUN to my car and tell me that I was WRONG about the pads?! And he showed me such perfect shiny brake pads and said they were mine?! So were the damaged ones that Smokey Joe had mine? Or the perfect ones from Ian? Seems a little suspicious but what do I know? I'm just a silly woman with no car knowledge who rides her brakes.... When I arrived to pick up my car 3 days later (with no update during the wait), they say the total is THREE THOUSAND and eighty-nine dollars. I never agreed to pay that much, I agreed to pay $389!! My vehicle is not even worth 3 grand!! You would think with such expensive repairs, you would stress the word "three THOUSAND" when saying the price over the phone. Nope. Just cover up the scam with a laid-back, fake, friendly attitude and shady business practices. Unfortunately I fell for the charade. They were supposed to fix the window switches and you can see their "fix" in the photo/video I've attached, which I guess doesn't include putting the pieces back securely in place? As if it couldn't be worse, they also added a $100 oil change which I didn't need (just got it done last week at Valvoline) and charged me above market price for all labor and parts!! Don't give your money to these highway robbers!! Literally stood there and smiled while charging me 3 thousand for an old vehicle we both know is worth less than 2 grand. After that associate got her vehicle in the work area and the tire off they noticed a large nail on the side of it and her tire was not fixable. They suggested a new tire. Within half an hour she got a new tire installed that was similar in tread to her other three. The restroom was clean and the waiting area had cable TV and there is free Wi-Fi. read more

It's a Pep Boys. The end. Kidding. I started to come here to get my oil changed a couple of years ago because the cost is better than what I was paying at another company. I was using the drive-thru oil change, but man they were charging me too much, so I looked into something a bit more cost effective and I found this Pep Boys location, which has worked for me so far. It is really easy to set up an appointment online, which I usually do about 1-2 weeks before I intend to bring my car in for a check and oil change. Once when they could not accommodate my scheduled time, they called me the day I created the appointment and rescheduled me for the day after my selected time. The appointments usually run on time and I`ve never waited more than 30 minutes for the oil change and check. I really like that they not only change the oil, but check all the fluids, rotate the tires, and give the car a once over. I appreciate that because my car is a 2003 and definitely started to get into its senior years, so I depend on checks to keep things running well during these geriatric years of its life. The maintenance desk employees have always been friendly and I have not had any issues at this location thus far in terms of their service department. All in all, a decent place to come to for an oil change and check that is less than $30. read more

I've dealt with Brandon on a few trips to this store. Today I was told to see someone in service over the phone for rotor machine service ..once getting there the gentleman wanted to mic the rotors I told him I had done so,, and never said he or Brandon couldn't re do it just saving them sometime. Brandon said I didn't want him to mic them which we never spoke of doing but the mechanic on duty with all the empty bays had said it, either way such a small matter but Brandon who's a big huge kid needed to be right so who's to argue the point with a boy with so much knowledge. I told him I was a old mechanic and had mic'd the rotors and that they still looked good to me (with my experience of 33 years with ford brake and front and specialist & other services) .. he said to take one to Brandon inside not both of them, so one I took as I was told. Brandon begin hymn hawn around about pits and shit, I said pits are normal in rotors and wasn't sure what he was trying to say... I explained myself, he got pissy said to me i knew best and ask me to leave (he was correct as for knowing best, especially in this case because I knew the part I was servicing, and I had the years of knowledge in specialist in front end and brakes with ford 33 years. Also the parts came off my car which I have owned from new ) anyway he refused my money. So much for local support of a businesses. I guess for this pep boys having 15 bays all empty is best for the business It wasn't hard to see they didn't want to do it or need my business. I Found the service I needed 3 miles away with not one issue !! You've lost a pep boys customer, one since 1974 over a miss understanding. Brandon's unprofessionalism toward a veteran mechanic, only because of his explanation of PITS in casked metal to a simple minded mechanic. I was told over the phone to come down just to be refused service. but I seen through the laziness of the empty shop !! Sadly I will stop recommending pep boys to my family who's been seeking services there for tires battery's etc etc since my forced early retirement from automotive services !! Very unhappy with this treatment first time ever I've been treated in such a way!! My years of service I ran into major wanna be mechanic's I get it. But to be able to speak with some one every now in then and share my automotive service knowledge or bs with is a high point for myself and who's it bothering o? why couldn't you be cool, as the times before your bad day gives you know pass to Treat a elderly person with know respect. Husband took car in yesterday on Memorial Day 05/30/2022 due to alot places being closed. Brought it in for a screw in the middle of the tire On back passenger side... It was fine they checked all four tires still. Turns out they said that we had another tire leaking on back driver side. okay wanted to replace tire due to cause where it was leaking was on the side, which they said was not repairable. Which we found odd about that and decided to wait to take the car to discount tires on Craig this morning 05/31/2022 Which they rechecked all four tires them selves and said I did not need to replace at all that the leak on the driver back side and that the leak was in the middle of tire and repaired it for free BEWARE... of pep boys not our first time having a problem with anything at any pep boys! read more

I've been driving Ford vehicles for the better part of thirty years and having them serviced mostly at Friendly Ford, never needing appointments, just drive into the service lane and wait my turn. Tuesday, May 10, woke up early and arrived in Friendly's service line, third in line, for a routine oil change package. A giant of a man greeted me, asking if I had an appointment. When I replied that I didn't, he said 'you need an appointment'. I asked 'when did this start? In thirty years, I've never made an appointment'. 'About three weeks ago', he replied, 'I can get you in on Friday at 1pm'. I asked about an early appointment on a Tuesday or Wednesday, he checked his calendar and said he had an opening in two weeks. Nevamind... disappointed and angry, I left the property and headed home. The oil change wasn't due for another 500 miles, but wanted to get it done before the 100 degree days arrive. The service department at Team Ford is not a favorite of mine as I had several bad experiences with them .. but thought I'd call them and see if I needed an appointment with them .. 'yes, you'll need an appointment and we have nothing available until after June first'. Are you kidding me? For an oil change? Didn't realize servicing those Metro police vehicles was a full time endeavor. Got home and looked online, finding Pep Boys on Rancho. Easily made an appointment online for the next day at 10am. Pep Boys was a good choice and will be my 'garage' for future needs .. they replaced a battery for me several months ago and with this oil change, tire rotation and topping off of fluids, they have won my business. Friendly and knowledgeable employees, they have the parts on-hand, clean waiting area with TV, snacks and coffee and finished the job on time as promised. They also provide an app where you can follow along with the progress of the job and video presentations of anything that may require attention... a more pleasurable experience than either of the Ford service shops. I'll still go to Friendly Ford for recall jobs...altho, I had asked to be put on a waiting list for a front end brake job for a Ford requested recall and the service woman must have forgotten as I've not been contacted yet after six months .. typical, and another reason I've lost confidence in Ford's service people. I've come to this location twice once to inquire about an oil change the other to get air in my tires. Both times I was met with unfriendly service. I left and went elsewhere for my oil change. When I came to get air I was snapped at that it's "self service" despite there being no visible signs stating this. The man "did me a favor" and put air in my tire failing to pay attention to the pressure gauge and over filled my tires. Definitely a if you want something done right do it yourself situation. I have been going there for 3 and a half years now and no matter what issue I had.. they went above and beyond to take care of me. Most recently I had a warranty repair that I needed but I didn't want to go to any of the shops the warranty company suggested because Brandon and this Pep Boys is who I trust. They were not listed in the approved list so.. knowing i didn't want to go anywhere else.. they did all the legwork just to make sure i could get it done there!! -The employees told me at my second to most recent oil change that they rotated my tires, but they did not. -At my most recent appointment this last Friday, June 10, I expressed my concern that they did not actually rotate the tires, but they refused to acknowledge that this could be a possibility. -At my June 10 appointment, I was told they topped off my fluids; they did not. -They drained my oil and did not replace it. Purchased a Champion AGS battery for my car in 2020 that had a 4 year warranty. Battery went bad in just under 3 years. Returned to Pepboys to have it replaced under the warranty. Found out that they no longer stock Champion batteries and also had no other AGM batteries in stock for the foreseeable future. The manager ( Brandon ) advised me that I could purchase a replacement battery elsewhere and return the Champion battery for a full refund. I came here today to have my tires rotated and balanced. It was a good value and quickly done. I made an appointment and they told me it would take about 45 minutes and that's exactly how long it took. Be vigilant and get a second opinion. I took my 2013 chevy truck to get a diagnostic due to the engine light on. They told me I had to replace two major parts for about $1900. Since that was more than I was willing to pay without a second opinion I took my truck to Ed Bozarth chevy. They replaced $180 part and they said its all good now. Not only that but it was under factory warranty. Most of the time I don't like the cost and hassle of the dealerships but this time they saved me a lot of money. Don't know how Pep Boys could get it so wrong. Disappointing as I already paid them the diagnostic fee. read more
