Aaron and Marko are true professionals! I took my 1997 Dodge Dakota in to get a new serpentine belt and if they could locate a leak I've been having with my power steering fluid. Once scheduled, Aaron hooked me up with a solid quote and Marko was efficient. They knew how to get the job done! They discovered the reason behind WHY my serpentine belt was malfunctioning and gave me great understanding into how to fix my fluid leak. My water pump was faulty causing my serpentine bet tensioner along with the belt to become damaged by the fan clutch and fan blade to smack into them. Very concerning predicament. He gave me a quote fast and was happy to get that job knocked out within the day as well. I absolutely loved the timely service and great support from them! I came back a few days later for them to replace my high pressure power steering hose and for them to help diagnose my A/C issues. Aaron hooked me up with a great deal and had my issues fixed without needing to hold my truck overnight! With it being only a couple of guys holding down the fort they are extremely hardworking and show what PepBoys is all about! Phenomenal work! I I can't recommend them enough! I was visiting relatives nearby Ogden in July of this year and was having trouble with my check engine light, once again. A month before In Southern California where I live I had an oil change and the check engine light kept coming on. I would go back to the dealer to have it turned off each time...very annoying. I stopped by the Pep Boys on Riverdale and explained to the manager my problem. It took three hours for a front brake change. I had an appointment set up a few days earlier and showed up a few minutes early. My appointment was on a Saturday and there was only 2 people max in the waiting room at a time. I was there for a brake change of my front brakes and had to wait 3 hours for it to be completed. I kept asking them how long it would take so that I could grab food while waiting and they kept saying it wouldn't take long. They did apologize a few times for the wait but it is hard to understand why it took so long when I had an appointment. If they were running behind or super busy, I wish they would have told me so that I could plan accordingly. I had to cancel plans afterwards because it ended so late. So just prepare for a long time, just in case. Otherwise, they were nice with handling my car and trying to figure out the exact problem. read more

Terrible mechanics with no integrity. Do not take your vehicles here. They will replace unneeded parts, break already working parts, and hold your vehicle for extended periods of time, or return it halfway out together. Left a fiesta here with only an AC issue, after a week it was returned with no AC, no drivers side headlight, and the steering column was not secured. When we took it back they also destroyed our fuse box and tried to charge us for a new one. We took the car back and fixed their broken fuse box, and the AC we paid $1200 for at this point. They informed us they were only working an hour a day. This is the worst shop etiquette I've ever seen in my life. I am an 18 year old with a 1 car garage and I fixed their problems within 3 days and no new parts. It was at their shop for 3 weeks and they bought a fuse box and a compressor and charged me $1200. I'd give them no stars if that was possible took my car in to get it looked at for my warranty and we told the MANAGER exactly what they needed to check for...the wheel bearing. they said they checked it and it was all brand new nothing wrong with it. and that his mechanic was never wrong...come to find out all the techs at pep boys were brand new techs with NO EXPERIENCE. We took it to another mechanic...an honest mechanic he took the wheel bearing off and showed us and sure as shit it needed to be replaced. That thing was on its last leg. I had bought a tire here and after only one month it developed a bubble. After calling five separate times with no answer I finally went in person to try and get it warrantied. No such luck. Week later the tire of course blew which I then tried to replace with a different company. Pep boys had failed to notify me that they had stripped the bolts while installing said tire. Recently had my tires done and during the process was told it would be a hour or two, as I stayed there waiting from start around 2pm they were not done till almost 6 which is the time they close, they had no idea what they were doing when balancing my tires and when I left I immediately knew from how shaky my car was as well as the installation of the weights. so the next day I called while I was at work around 20 times through the day trying to get ahold of someone since I got off around the time they closed. I did not get ahold of them and had no one to even talk to me to offer help. I ended up calling the pepboys in west valley and they picked up on the first ring, which I now have to commute 40 minutes to have them fix something the riverdale store messed up. I don't know if there employees are incompetent or were rushing because it was close to closing time, but after seeing the rest of the reviews I believe it's the location/ personnel issue. And there is no use in emailing the pepsocial@pepboys.com because they can't respond either, I'm very frustrated and would appreciate if someone would make this right. The value of the tires and installation wouldn't have been an issue for me if it was done right, I paid for my tires to be installed correctly and efficiently and received neither. Air conditioner wasn't blowing cold. Took it in and they said it was overcharged, and leaking. I'm not sure how a leak causes something to over charge. Needs a new condenser. At 1300$ but they have in house financing that doesn't give your credit a hard inquiry. I applied and was approved, then instantly got an email from credit karma saying I had a hard inquiry and it dropped my credit score 56 points! So they did the work in under an hour while charging 800 in labor. So I pick the car up as they're closing and drive it home, with no air conditioning. Brought it back the next day and they told me the air temperature sensor was bad and the plug was corroded both needed to be replaced. They wanted another 250 to fix it. Well I went home and looked into it. Bought a sensor for 22$ pulled 3 screws out of the bottom of the bumper where it sits, and the sensor was just hanging there. Not in the clip it was supposed to be in, with no corrosion whatsoever. I replaced the sensor and the three screws in under 5 minutes and viola the air conditioner is running like a champ. Called pep boys and talked to a manager and they essentially told me they would do nothing to resolve the situation. I looked in a dozen forums that all say if your temperature is reading 40 degrees, it's a bad sensor. I should've looked into fixing it myself before going to pep boys. But now I know they are completely untrustworthy and will overcharge you for unnecessary work. read more

Nice big retail section. Decent waiting room with A/C, coffee, restroom, and keurig coffee. Big plus is they are open on Sundays. Went to get two rear tires replaced. Points for having custom large tires that I needed for my vehicle same-day. Downside was the 2 hour wait for work being done. We could see mechanics struggle to find the stock tools needed to put the spare tire back underneath the vehicle. One person finally asked us if we knew where the tools were located in the car (which we did via YouTube - we had researched prior to this appointment). However, after waiting for the "almost done" work for nearly 30 mins +, we were surprised to find the spare tire lodged into the trunk of the car instead of underneath where it belonged. We ended up putting the spare back ourselves before our 800 mile plus drive that was ahead of us. It was quite simple... So a little disappointing in terms of workmanship given the 5+ mechanics who were hanging around. Just a tip: when in doubt, YouTube it!!! The young lady at the desk was very kind and thoughtful. I came to Pep Boys because I needed both an oil change and a TPMS replacement. The website made it seem that I was going to pay a certain price for each part of the service that wasn't reflected properly when I had my car at the store. After taking care of the oil change, I was notified by the store that replacing the TPMS was going to end up costing quite a lot; 4.5 times the amount that I thought it was going to cost based on the website information. When I questioned about the difference in price, I was told that those tiny parts for my specific Chevrolet sedan just happened to cost that much. I refrained from having that part of the service done and, when I received my check up report, I noticed that Pep Boys stated my tires were ALL down to 5% tread on all sides and they recommended the purchase of new tires in addition to 4 new TPM Sensors. I took my car to another national tire service provider nearby to have the tread on my tires checked and to get a second opinion on the TPMS replacements. I learned that my tires were perfectly fine. The other service provider stated they were all ranging between 75-80% tread; since I bought them a little over a year ago and only drive an average of 5k miles per year, this wasn't surprising. I was also able to have this other provider replace the faulty TPMS for about 30% of the price I was quoted at Pep Boys just two days prior. TL;DR: After getting a second opinion, I feel cheated and preyed upon by the people at Pep Boys. I get the sense they are not in it for the customer's safety or well-being nearly as much as they are focused on getting their profits, no matter the cost in morality. Update 08/01/2021: I've posted this same review on multiple review sites. I have already given my information to pepsocial@pepboys.com as requested. Doubtful that anything will come of it. Side note: These reviews were posted in reaction to an email request I received from Pep Boys to "fill out a review survey" for them. When I tried to submit the negative review, the system stated I had an adblocker that kept the review from being submitted (though I don't use an adblocker). As an experiment, I tried to submit the review as a 5* review and it, seemingly by magic, had no trouble being submitted. We got the car back and it was worse than before so we took it back and they said there was a leak in the high valve (which is what they replaced so how was there already a leak) and they said it was fixed. NEVER GO HERE. First, you should know that the online scheduling means absolutely nothing. It doesn't correlate at all to their availability, or staffing, or ability to perform the service. That should have been my first warning, I had a 10am appointment made a week in advance, couldnt even check in for my appointment because they said they couldnt look at it until 12pm, I had to come back or piss off. Then it took them 3 and a half hours, after being quoted 2hrs. Literally said "oh it will just be a few more minutes, Jonathan is finishing your oil change and test drive right now." It took an hour and a half after that. Ever since having my car serviced here for a brake replacement and oil change, my car is throwing constant check oil lights, change oil lights, oil pressure lights, service 4wd, and there is a growing puddle of oil under my car. So clearly they didnt do the oil change at all but charged me, put dirty oil back into my car, and possibly damaged my vehicle. And no, this isn't just an annual change oil light based on mileage, I got this oil change 750miles before I was due for one, and my car has never shown these lights before. I have already emailed their pepsocial@pepboys account and will be taking my car back in to speak to a manager about this. read more

I came here to get my brakes changed and the parts specialist was incredibly nice person as he explained everything that was gonna happen everything going on with my car and he was giving a general price quotes every time. Now I did have to wait an incredibly long time but they were having trouble with my rotors and to make up for that they ended up giving me 20% off all the parts and they ended up giving me the two new rotors against the warranty. This happened in the fall but it has been on my mind to submit this review ever since. I Bought two tires on TireRack dot com. Scheduled through tirerack for install at pep boys in Ogden. It's a decent drive from where I live, but one of the closest choices. I Got a notification from TireRack that the tires had been delivered to Pep Boys. I Called Pep Boys to schedule with them. They couldn't figure out if they had the tires. They Finally found them. They Couldn't fit me in for the install for a nearly week. Oh, and not at my convenience, only at the worst possible time for me. The appointment day comes and I go there and the install takes forever. It's not a huge job. The real problem is that they weren't ready for me when I got there, so they didn't start on my car for quite a while after I had arrived and checked in. They finally finish and head home. The next morning I notice that my tire pressure light is on. I use my pressure gauge and find that one of the new tires is slightly lower than the others. I examine the tire but can't find any nails or screws. But I did notice that there is some strange plastic wrap or something ticking out from the tire bead where the tire and rim meet. Maybe that's the problem. As soon as I get a chance I call pep boys. I happen to be in Ogden near Pep boys. Why is my pressure light in? Can I come by and have them take a look? Nope. I Have to schedule an appointment and come back to Ogden later in the week. I schedule the appointment. I also stop in anyway, since I'm right there, and I go straight to the bay where they check tire pressure. The kid there verifies that the one tire is a little lower than the other and adds some air. He says the sensor probably just needs to be reset but to keep an eye on it. I head back home. The next day, the tire pressure light is on again. I check the pressure of all the tires. No noticeable differences. The day of the appointment arrives. I drive to Ogden pep boys for the third time. The only thing they are going to do is reset the sensor. As I understand it, it's just flipping a digital switch using a scanner. It's not some difficult mechanical job. But it takes over an hour. Again because they waited a long time to even get to it. After the job is done, the manager has the nerve to tell me "no charge on that" as he hands me my keys! As I'm driving away, the tire pressure light comes on again! A couple of days later I take it to Discount tires and ask them for a free pressure check. They tell me that all four tires are low and they add pressure to all of the tires. The tire pressure light went off and has not come back in since. Lesson learned: pep boys in Ogden is inconvenient, incompetent, inconsiderate, and had me driving around on low tire pressure. Is there a way to give them less than one star? I guess they at least deserve that for charging me the correct installation rate negotiated through Tire Rack. read more

A few months ago I replaced the front brake pads on my wife's van. Oddly I ended up at this Pep Boys, which is about 30 min from my house due to some other shopping I was doing. The help inside was not the best, however I was introduced to a brand of brake pad that I wasn't familiar with (Akebono) and they were highly recommended by the counter help. I bought them and they were pretty impressive. So when the time arrived to replace the rear pads I went to their website and ordered the rotors and pads. Here is where problem started. I had to have the rotors delivered to my house and the pads delivered to the store. At this point I should have stopped and just ordered everything from Amazon or gone to another local supplier, however I liked the idea a supporting a "local" store and they were the first people who recommended the pads and earned my business. A week later (3 days after the estimated shipping day) the rotors showed up so I decided to drive to Ogden to pick up the pads. I called first and confirmed the pads had arrived at the store. Here was the second problem, the guy on the phone told me they weren't there, but after my persistence he somehow found them in a "separate non normal area". I asked him what time they closed and I had about 45 minutes to get there. I arrived at the store 10 minutes before closing and everything was locked up. I knocked on the window and after a few minutes an employee came to the door and said he closed early do to an emergency in his family. He refused to open the door and let me pick up the pads due to he was the only employee there and had closed the tills. It's unfortunate that this employee had a family emergency and hope everything is ok. It's unfortunate that he and had to leave early, however what manager staffs a store with only one employee? Even if you have staff call in, then as manager it would be your responsibility to cover that shift. I would think at minimum for safety and customer service you would need to have 3 employees on site during operating hours in case there is an emergency....or actually more than one person shopping at a time. After reading the other reviews it's evident that the problem is at the top and the leadership of this store or even area are a complete failure on many levels. read more

If I could give less than one star I would have. If you are looking to have service work done at this location I would think again and you MUST read this review. I originally had an oil change done at this location (Riverdale Ut) over a year ago and not long after that I was leaking oil like a siv (Which ruined my new driveway). I went back and they fixed it and offered me a free oil change. 6 months later I went in and had that free oil change. About 4/5 months later we noticed it was leaking again. Again I went in and they said they fixed it and that they put a dye in it that would show where it was leaking from if it started again, they said that if I noticed it leaking to bring it in right away. I kept an eye on it and saw no leakage for several weeks. About a month or so after they said they fixed it we went on a trip from Utah to So. CA in my truck that they did the oil changes on. Half way through the trip and in the middle of nowhere my wife noticed a puddle forming under the truck after we parked it. I noticed oil leaking around the filter so we put 2 quarts of oil in it and limped to the closest Pepboys in CA. The Pepboys in Roseville CA, (Who were great working with and did everything they could to resolve the issue) showed us the issue first hand. In the pictures posted with this review you'll see the oil filter that was scarred with some sort of pump plyer wrench which was used to ratchet down the oil filter so hard that it ruptured the gasket and cause a sever leak. Along with screwing up the oil filter by using the wrong tool, they also (According the manager at the Pepboys in Roseville) said that the last oil change was done with convention oil, even though my truck takes synthetic oil only and they know that. Long story short, we filed a claim with Pepboys to pay to have our vehicle checked out by trusted mechanic to make sure no damage was done to the engine and to have my vehicle detailed because the oil leaking out spraying all over the bottom of the truck and even up on the back tail gate. The manager at the Roseville location said we should be contacted within a few days by corporate about our claim, which was over a month ago. We've heard nothing from them. I then decided to go into the Riverdale location to see if they wanted a chance to make it right and the Manager there did nothing more than try to deflect the blame. The only thing she said she could do was have it checked out by them. Right!!! I'm going to have you guys look at my truck, the ones that screwed up a simple oil change. NOT!!! Needless to say our only option now is to get a lawyer and take legal action, which is going to cost them 10 times more than what they would have had to pay if they just would have done what I requested. read more

I called and spoke to Amanda whom i asked if I could bring in my car for an oil change before i left out of town and if it could be done as soon as possible which she gladly agreed to. It didn't take me more than 10 minutes to arrive. I was there at 10am. When i got there Sara was the one who greeted me and was refusing to help until "1pm". She said they were busy. After telling her i called and spoke to someone she continued to make ugly faces, sighing, and telling me i would need to drop off my car and come back. Amanda overheard and said if she needed to be the one to do it she would and confirmed she spoke to me on the phone earlier. Sara rolled her eyes and said "fine, we can do it." I was there until 1:15pm!!! There was only one other car they were working on. And by the time they were finishing, two more people arrived and they began working on one promptly. This was my first time getting an oil change here and it will be my last. I didn't even care that i was late to my cousins wedding. My frustration is because i was told they could do it, then was told no by someone else. Worst customer service. They could have said, "no sorry not a realistic time frame", and i would've gone elsewhere instead of waiting for hours. Job took over 12 hours to finish, and brought it to discount just to check on it because I don't trust this pep boys anymore, and they said the lug nuts were barely on and would've fallen off.... like WHAT?! They put STOCK cv axles on our lifted truck. Because the cv axles were too short for my lift, it pretty much pulled apart & screwed up my differential BUT WHAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF is they denied that they put the wrong size part in. The damages cost us 1400. Long story short, we're starting the process of taking them to court. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LIFTED VEHICLE HERE. I went on vacation last year in Las Vegas and Pep Boys services my car for a door actuator. It costed us 1000.00 dollars which gave us a year warranty. Today marks a month over to the year warranty. The noise is back and I went there to see what they could do or any options they could give me. I understand it's expired but they wanted to charge me to even look at it. It's ok that was fine with me. But JD at the front desk wasn't trying to help or suggest any other help. I would of paid for it money isn't the issue. A couple months ago my son end up at this location because he had a tire blowout and this was the only place open. They fixed it and talked him into roadside coverage. Last night he had a flat tire caused by a nail he stopped in and they told him they couldn't fix it without an appointment, he asked before he left it the tire fix would be covered by the roadside they told him yes so he made an appointment for this morning. He took his car over and nothing was said about a charge until they had it up and the tire off then they said it would be $80, he asked about the roadside coverage and they said it would only cover half of all that was wrong. What they neglected to tell him is they broke the tire sensor when they took the tire off the rim and they were charging him for their mistake. Never will we go to Pep Boys this location as well as others. What a scam. read more

Came here to get my vehicles tires replaced, took about 30 minutes longer than they said but that's no big deal, just they didn't seem to care about my time. The price was the best around though. I needed a hitch installed... You'd think they would help you and tell you that the wiring isn't included. After paying close to 200.00 for the hitch, I was told I didn't ask for wiring. My bad, why didn't you ask me if I needed wiring? I just assumed it all came together. So, I called and asked what the cost would be for wiring..... 249.00!!! for wiring!!!! You've got to be kidding me?? I go to website and they have a wiring kit for 29.00.... so why would you charge 220.00???? worst customer service. Absolutely horrible service. I called the day before and talked to a guy about putting in a headlight on my car. He told me to bring it in at 3:30pm the next day and they would take care of it for me and should only take a hour to do. So I made an appointment for 3:30pm. The next day I got there at 3:00pm half hour early and it took them about 20 minutes to notice I was even there and the guy threw the window could see me standing there the whole time. He got his boss to finally come help me and I told him what I was there for and he said he had no idea I was coming in when I was in the system with an appointment for my light to be replaced. He told me that he would get it in as soon as he could. So I waited and waited and waited. finally at 5:15pm they came and got my keys took my car back looked at it and came up to me and asked what light is it I told him it was the passenger side front light and the new light was in the back seat. He went out and started talking my car apart and came back 5 minutes later and told me this is a lot bigger job than I thought I won't have time to do and bring it back tomorrow. I told him I was leaving out of town and needed it done today after I've been waiting already 3 hours for nothing. He said ok I will just have to be here after we close. At this point I was like oh well. He came back to tell again it was going to take longer and what my schedule was tomorrow I told him I needed it done today because I was leaving in the morning. I asked if he needed me to help and he said no I just have to take a lot of stuff apart I asked can I go and look at it so he took me out there and showed me what he needed to do and he was taking out the drivers side light not the passenger side light like I said. He told he was done and to bring it back the next morning. I needed it done that day so I went home and did it myself and the right light and it took me a hour to do it myself. I will never go there again and I've spent a lot of money there in the past. But they will never see another penny from me again. Why have appointments when you can't follow them. So far my experience has been great . Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. They where able to tell me how to find info so I could program my car myself. Only one service guy was in the store just a odd situation, but he did a outstanding job with the amount of work he had and making sure he kept the customers updated. Hats off to Aaron!! The other personnel here were genuinely interested in helping the customers as well. Definitely will be seeing my business again. read more

Horrible customer service!!! Waited an hour half for an oil change and then told they couldn't do it for who knows what excuse but then asked to pay for no services. Called to talk to the manager and they said he was unable to be reached. Luckily the district manager was more than happy to help. Never using them again! read more

Called this morning and a nice guy said I could bring in my flat tire any time today and they would get it fixed for around $13. Finally got the tire off and a ride to the shop where Jesse at the front desk said we would maybe get it done today but they were to booked to do it now. My husband explained that I had called earlier. Jesse then said they had $1000 jobs waiting and he wasn't going to do the $13 job first. Really poor customer service, so sad since my family has gone there for ages! read more
