After waiting hour and a half after only a 30 minute oil change, I had to get my truck pulled out because they couldn't "figure out" how to get the oil filter off the truck. I think that statement says it all about how the company trains their employees. To make a long story short, there was a big cosmetic damage after it came out and I was the one to witness it happening twice. Their service was so terrible I had to write a formal complain to their corporate office and maybe close to hiring an attorney because of the way the store manager handled my particular situation. I wouldn't have gotten this route if the store manager properly identified himself, gave me his business card and explained his side of the story carefully rather than bluntly denying the "damage" didn't happen. He didn't call me back regarding the incident. On top of that, he was proudly saying he has been managing for over 25 years. Do your selves a favor and don't come to this store. The parking sucks and the clientele is very shady. I wouldn't be surprised the staff is like the manager because they have to put up with the customer BS. read more

Having tires installed here, opted to come here (against my better judgement) since it was the closest place on the list of recommended installers from where we purchased the tires from. The appointment was at 9am, it's now 12:10 and still waiting for them to this properly. See, we paid for metal valve stems and after picking the truck at 11:15 and getting home, he noticed they only placed 3 metal valve stems....sooooo right back we went and here we wait!!!!! This awesome journey began Friday when I called to see if the tires were in, Ricky was polite at first, but when he returned to say they were in, he had a whole different attitude, now I don't know if someone made him mad the minute or so he was gone or if it's an inconvenience that the tires came from somewhere else. But whatever it was, it left what is becoming a pain in the butt, and another unsat review. While we were there, I watched the interactions of the workers with the customers (in the service area) let's just say customer interaction isn't a strong point. I also will be letting the company know that I bought the tires from. Unfortunately, we will have a long relationship as we paid for the tire rotations and balancing. Hopefully better next time. I give this place 2 stars just because I had to return here and things still weren't right. Had to replace all 4 tires on my car and they actually got my car in and out within an hour ( and the place was very busy at that time). Had my alignment done but it was kind of expensive (18.95 per tire) but my alignment was way off before I even took it in so there was no real way to avoid it. A couple days later I took my car out for a drive and noticed that my alignment had been off more than the first time when I brought it in! Called pep boys and they told me to bring it in so they can take a look. When I got there, they had told me the only way I could've messed the alignment up again was if I had ran over a curb or hit a pothole... (who runs over curbs??) I have only taken my car out twice between those 4 days and once was to go to the store and the 2nd was to take it back! The same guy helped me the first time i was there and he was really nice and showed great customer service. I think that he kept the place running fast so people could get in and out in a timely manner. However, after they had fixed my alignment for the 2nd time, it was still off and they said that there was nothing else that they could do... I was so frustrated so I took my car so another place in Camarillo and they fixed it FOR FREE!!! So disappointing for me because I used to come here long ago when Rudy used to work and he delivered A+ customer service.... read more

Update: pep boys Oxnard got a hold of me to correct their horrible customer service, and refunded the cost of the tires plus the cost of an alignment. So, this is a plus. It's just unfortunate that it took me complaining to yelp and to their corporate office in order to finally be treated with some dignity. Made an appointment on line for an oil change. When I got there, they claimed to have no record of it in spite of me trying to show them the printout. I waited in the store. When my car was ready, I asked about the brakes. The guy told me they don't check unless you ask. I told him that their website states it's done as part of the oil change. He didn't respond at all. When I asked about the tire rotation, he told me the rear tires were too low so they didn't do it. I then asked if there was anything else. He said they found an oil leak. I asked where? He said, "They don't tell me that. You'd have to have an inspection." I should have been told all of this during the oil change. And they should have looked at the brakes. Clearly, they wanted to get away with doing the minimum they could get away with and get me out of there. I didn't even get an invoice showing the work done and their recommendations. All I got was a receipt. I took their survey and was told I'd be contacted within 48 hours. Didn't happen. Won't be back. They don't care. read more

I got there about 5 mins early, he took my info and said they'd get to it "right away". 10 minutes later, they got my car, and then about 45 minutes later My car was driven back out. Not only that, but Ricky enlisted the help of his expert crew, consisting of Maricio and Charlie in service and Gill and Monique in the store to make sure my car was good to go, and point me in the right direction for some auto accessories I needed. The level of courtesy and professionalism here is unparalleled, and is reflective of good leadership. I already go to Pep Boys for hard to find items and the lowest prices around, and when you add that to the respect you are treated with here along with the type of work that enforces brand value, brand loyalty and more, I can certainly say that a trip here is well worth your time. Called last night to make an appointment for today. I get there 5 min before my appointment to both guys at the counter on there cell phones. After a minute one guy finally responded to me being there. I told them that I had an appointment for an oil change. They then took my keys. No manners from either of them. Finally they bring it in 30 min later. Mind you there was no one in the lobby waiting. An hour later my car is done. I go to get the paper work (because it was for a rental car). The guy says ok. A couple min later the manager comes over and says "he doesn't get paper work." And says bye to shoe me away. I'll never go back to this place. This is the worst store ever. My husband and I went up to the counter. One woman was working with a customer and the other was on the phone. When she hung up we figured she would acknowledge us. I went into this location at my scheduled appointment time and was greeted by their extremely rude service manager. Apparently their mechanic had not shown up to work so the service time would be delayed, which I completely understood was beyond their control. What I did not understand was the lack of communication and professionalism in relaying that to me. It was almost as if I was burdening him with my business, and not only my business at that. I am part of a 1,000 car fleet that dedicate a constant business flow to this franchise. It is unfortunate that one person can affect the way I perceive this entire business. Took my son's car here to inspect the oil. He had taken his car to Auto Zone cause his engine was making a noise and had some vibrations. Auto Zone said it looks like you have metal in your oil. We called the dealership that we bought the car from since it was still under warranty and they work with Pep Boys in Oxnard on the Boulavard. They supposedly did a complete oil change and replace the belts that were on the pulley we asked about metal in the oil and they said there was nothing in the oil. My son then took his car to a friend's mechanic and he did confirm that there was something in the oil. He took it to this mechanic a week after his oil change at Pep Boys and the oil was still really dirty. We then went back to the dealership and told them what we were finding and they said to take it to Hyundai. Just received the call from Hyundai and they stated that there was metal shavings in the oil and now the whole engine needed to be replaced. This store quoted a brake job at three different prices. The first at $173, then $320, then $597. The first quote was for pads only so I understand a different price for more work but the day of the job, I called back with questions and then they denied stating $320 to my wife and instead said the job would really be $597. I drove to the store and with my wife present, spoke with the Manager. He was discourteous and unprofessional. His indifference to my questions and insistence that it was we who misunderstood left me no choice but to take the job 5 blocks down the street to a competitor where they did the entire job for $397 in one hour. Pep Boys needs to come into this store and re-train management and line personnel on customer service and accuracy in their quotes. If not, they will see their business decline as consumers like us don't haggle or argue. Recently had a minor issue, took it to them, they replaced a part that didn't need to be replaced, and then did the install WRONG. DO NOT GO HERE !!! If i could rate this store lower, I would. I drove in from Ventura (other side of the tracks) to have a trouble light diagnosed. I went to the shop counter and was engaged in a very offensive way by the counter man. He treated me like I was an interruption and was working on his computer the entire time. I asked him if he could have the codes read on my Jetta. He said no, because Charlie is not here. And I asked him if Charlie is the only one that can read codes and he said yes. Lie #1. There were at least 6 other mechanics in the back and I am sure they can read codes (more on that in a min). So he just said no. Did not say sorry, did not say here is another shop for you, just ignored me, like I was from the wrong side of the tracks, if you get my drift. So i hopped in my car, drove back to Ventura to the PEP Boys there. Soon as I arrived i was greeted in a friendly and positive way by two employees. I asked if they could read the codes, they said yes. I asked if most any PEP Boy mechanic can read codes. They said yes. I asked if they could fix it. They said yes. So I bought that fix, oil change, tire rotation and a tune up from them. So, shame on you PEP Boys Oxnard. If you want to have a mean attitude, fine. I will never take my business to this location again. Even if it's not a so called "professional business environment" I do expect a certain level of common courtesy from any business I might pay for service with . This location has a sign that clearly states "drive up service", I drove up to that area and one of the service employees started honking at me like a mad man and motioning for me to move out of the way. I backed up and this individual drove the car in, I then proceeded to move back to the "drive up service" area and the guy jumps out of the car and spoke me in what I consider a unprofessional matter and tone when it come to addressing a paying or potential paying customer "hey man park in the parking spaces!" At that point I responded and pointed out his drive up sign and he then realized I wasn't going to allow this without speaking up so he changed his tone and asked for me to please park in the regular spaces... I got in my vehicle and drove away. I refuse to give my business to ant place where their employees don't have basic people skills or courtesy. I took my car here against my better judgment for service, and should have gone with my gut. It started off well, with a friendly guy telling me to bring the car in, so I had it towed from where it stopped running on the side of the freeway, into the shop, only to have them tell me that it would be no issue, and they were going to look at the car to see what's going on. They told me that they were't going to charge me anything, but just look at it to get an idea what was wrong and then give me a call. They never called, and when I called back to get an answer over three hours later, no answer. I drove over there only for them to tell me that I need a new engine. They had the car torn apart already despite the fact that they never called to tell me they were going to do so. I was under the impression that they wouldn't charge me the diagnostic fee unless they could fix the car because that's exactly what they said. They diagnosed it and said they couldn't fix it, and still charged me the $89 diagnostic fee to pick up the car. Of course I signed the invoice for $89 so they're legally entitled to the money. Not only this, but the guy at the counter was a snob, acting annoyed with my presence, and as if he were better than me. My bad for not realizing your Godly status because you work at Pep Boys. Someday I will learn that when I get poor service from a business I should not go back there in the future. Well, I didn't learn my lesson the last time that I went to Pep Boys in Oxnard for car service. This time I went for a battery replacement because the price was attractive. I made an appointment for 8 a.m. online and entered that I wanted my battery replaced with a Bosch battery. I arrived a minute or two before 8, parked the car and proceeded to head inside with the car keys. No doors were open so I finally dodged the people who were rolling tires through the service bay door and found my way into the service office, then to the other side of the counter where I waited about five minutes until someone came by. I asked why the doors were locked and he said that it was not 8 o'clock yet. By then, it was between 5 and 10 after 8. I told him that I had an 8 o'clock appointment and he looked it up in the computer and found my name. Only it did not say what I was there for so I had to explain it to him. He did the necessary paperwork and said that it wouldn't take long. I waited about an hour and was finally called to pay for my car. I asked why they were not open at 8 for an 8 o'clock appointment and he said that they get there about then but have things to do and it takes 15-20 minutes before they are ready to do service. When I went to retrieve my car, I found that all of the radio settings had disappeared, in spite of the Pep Boys advertisement that they have an electronic device that they use to save your settings when power is removed from the car. read more

After 2 back surgeries I found it extremely difficult to work on my truck by myself so I called pep boys Oxnard. They were to do a visual inspection just to tell me where my oil leak was coming from. After talking to the "Master mechanic" he told me my oil cooler was leaking. Well it's been a month now and I can finally crawl around under the truck, within 30 seconds of looking I could see my oil cooler was fine and my valve cover gasket was the culprit of my leak. I've been a mechanic for 7 years now, do not go here, their so Called Master mechanics don't seem to know their ass from their elbow. read more

Worst night ever... thanks pepboys for messing with my car. All I needed was an oil change and now I can't even drive my car. It never ever leaked before my oil change, I took it back once for them to put more oil in it. They said they put a dye in it to see where the leak was coming from. Then my car started leaking even more... all that came out was this milky brown oil, didn't know what it was. Had plans to have it checked out, but my car started smoking on my way home. I would give 0 stars. I went to get my radiator replaced. The mechanic did not do proper testing before and after replacement so water got in my engine. Worst part was, at the time I was moving from San Diego to Ventura, so that night I drove down to San Diego to pack my car up and as driving back the next morning the engine check light came on. Thank god I didn't get too far and was able to turn around and make it to pep boys. I had to work the next day and had no way to get home so I missed a couple of days of work and I had to leave my car in San Diego for one month while I figured things out with pep boys. The Oxnard location yelled at me, hung up on me and fought me the whole time. After I called corporate they finally approved to rebuild my engine because of the damages their mechanic caused it was finished in THREE days. They refused to tow the car back to me and I couldn't miss work at my new job, so the only way was to pay the tow myself, miss work, or let some random pep boys dude drive my car back up. I know that mistakes happen and its all ready enough their mechanic can't do a simple radiator replacement but I have never received such terrible customer service.They would not call me back, they refused to admit it was the mechanics fault even after I saw the mechanic notes that showed he didn't do it properly. The first time they sent me the paper work had notes about my car, but the date was the same day I requested the information (2 days after my car was worked on). I called the manager and told him about the paper work, he tried to play dumb until I said that I would have a lawyer look into it, then he said he would check again and sent the correct paper work later which showed the mechanic had not done the testing he is required to do. After about a week of going back and forth they started avoiding me, not calling me back and then raising their voice at me and hanging up on me. After that I was done. I called corporate and spoke to a few people and sent them all the paperwork. After a few days, corporate had everything together and called me and told me the Oxnard shop is paying to rebuild my engine. I do want to make it clear that is was the managers of the store who where rude to me, the employees in the store were always nice, not helpful, but I'm sure it was because their hands were tied. read more

I went on Sunday to get my tire looked at and the guy named Enrique said they were to busy and it would take a hour to look at it the funny thing was there was no one even there. No customers. So he sent me somewhere else . Which was a good thing for me . But not for pep boys because of his laziness not wanting to look at my tire he lost customers and the tire shop gained some. These guys were great trying to get your money for the sale then once they get you in, your done, long wait for the work to be done. The hour and half that was promised turns out to be three hours later and when you ask about it, oh we had problems with our machines but in reality they were having problems with their employees and management of the use of the alignment machine. read more

I called to see what the wait time would be for an oil change and they said about 20min. That time is up and I'm still waiting. As soon as I walked in I should have turned around because I was not acknowledged by any employee. I had to say "may I ask a question" before I received any help. It has been 35min now and my car is still in the space where I parked it. I'm about to ask for my key so I can leave. Oops, I can't now as my car is being pulled into the service area. It would have been ok if I was acknowledged as soon as I entered the check in area, and yes it was employees who were available to assist me but chose to continue there personal conversation. I would highly suggest management take a course in customer and provide that information to the other employees. read more

When my check engine light came on, I called and inquired if it would be possible to have it tested that day to find out what the problem was. I was told I could have it diagnosed, but might have to schedule potential work that needed to be done on another day because it was busy. When I arrived, Ricky Juarez who was both courteous and professional, checked my engine light, fixed the problem, and then listened to another noise coming from my car that I could not figure out. He then spoke with a mechanic who did further diagnostic testing. Because of Ricky's focused concern on providing great service, I will highly recommend the Oxnard Pep Boys. read more
