Cesar was a helpful manager and so was the rest of the staff...... But the mechanic was eager to reject an offer to replace my battery with one I bought there which I had no problem doing myself but the customer service rep insisted he'd do it. I drove up to the garage and a Caucasian mechanic with a bald head told me to park in the lot and go inside and talk to the manager... After the manager had just sent me to the garage...he proceeded to ask the person in the front desk about the situation came back and told me the same thing . at this point I felt he should have just changed the battery instead of wasting time running back and fourth talking to his fellow employees like he needed guidance or a reason to deny me so I changed the battery myself in the parking lot and saw him doing nothing in the garage. I would of rated this shop overall 5 stars but the mechanic lack of interest made it a 2 star experience. read more

The auto tech Jose Montelongo is a total jerk who has no patience with customers. I went in for a new battery and they disconnected my stereo's battery and because I was in a hurry to get to an apt I couldn't go back until the next day and they looked at me like I was crazy and said they couldn't do anything about it. I took it to another guy and he told me the stereo cable was disconnected by the guys who changed the battery. Very disappointed! I'd much rather be stranded and call AAA. read more

DO NOT take your car here for service. It is a rip off and you can do better just about anywhere. I had a belt installed and he said it was $136. I said that seemed a little high and he said it was competitive with other places and I thought maybe prices had gone up since I had not replaced it in several years. When I got home I looked up the part and the cost was $36 on their website and on my receipt they charged $56 so I called to ask why and was told that service had different pricing because they charge for a warranty that I was not told about and it is not an option (I am seeing a lawyer about this one, I smell class action). Then I told the service manager I should just buy the part in the store and bring it to him to install and he said they would just charge more for service. I then called 6 other places that he said they were competitive with and not one of them was over $90 for the same part and service. For those looking for tires just go about a mile south of there to Big Brand and they will give you a better deal. Or you can just go to Pep Boys and pay almost 50% more for some imaginary warranty that you automatically get at other places at no additional charge. And if you need parts go to O'reilly and they guarantee their prices, if you find it cheaper they will match it. If you go to Pep Boys you are fucked. read more

Went in for their weekday special, Tue-Thur conventional oil change for 19.95. The employee at the counter had no idea what I was talking about. He had never heard of such a thing. I informed him I had booked an appointment but did not have a printer to print out the coupon. He told me I needed it. So I went to the local library to print it out and as turned out, there is no coupon. All you do is book your appointment and you printout the confirmation. I went back and told the employee there was no coupon and he still denied they had such a price. I showed him the paperwork I had printed out and even showed him their website with the "weekday special" ad. That was when another employee whispered something in his ear and I was given the 19.95 price. The clueless original employee told me I was not going to pay 19.95, there was still tax on that which would make it $21 and change. I told him it was fine but there was a big difference between paying $19.95+tax and $29.95+tax. Never the less I will take my business elsewhere next time. Corporate should mandate all service employees to learn their "weekday specials" pricing. read more

I went to PepBoys after I had bad service at FireStone, I explained to them the issues I had and what had been "replaced" with FireStone. They assisted me and were very apologetic I had to go through it and have to repay. I dropped off my car and rode my bike to Ventura and back, everything was fine. A bit of a wait but worth it. The mechanic came to a problem and immediately came to show me what the problem was and they explained the best case and worst case, which I was hoping it was the best case. It ended up being the best case, yes!!!! I had previously had my rear brakes replaced at FireStone but one was grinding and needed to be replaced if I wanted to have the noise go away but not required. i left it because I didnt want to pay again (which I had them replaced a month before). They did a great job and I couldnt be happier. I have had my Jeep serviced three more times and continue to use my rewards. read more

Bought tires online and the company these came from, had a list of " recommend installers" which is only 10 minutes away from my house. My appointment was for 9am. I was on time and very excited to have new tires. Kinda like Christmas Day! The counter guy said it would take about an hour and half. I also asked for metal valve stems, which is linda important to the story later.cool no problem. Called about an hour and half later and Ricky said, " They had trouble balancing one of the tires and should be ready in an about a half hour." Ok, it happens I get it. I show up in a half hour and to my surprise my truck was parked out front with new tires. I went and paid my bill and left. When I got home, I walked around my truck and noticed that I had 4 brand new tires and 3 brand new valve stems. So I got back into my truck and drove back. More time out of my day. I took my paperwork back in and told them that one 1 of the valve stems was missed and I would appreciate it if they could fix it. As soon as I stepped into the waiting area they sent a guy out to get my truck. It took him about twenty minutes to do the repair. Again more time out of my day. So for a job that should have taken an hour has turned into an hour and a half turned into 3 hours and a frustrated excustomer. This could have been fixed by the tire guy doing his job correctly and then maybe somebody doing quality control. read more

1. This Pep boys is beyond greedy and shady. I took my car there last year (when I had my car) and I literally spent 800+ plus on it within two months and my car was still not working right. I invested in fixing my car that I was very late on my car payments and insurance and it still was not working I had to unfortunately repo my car because all my money was gone, to work on my car and still was trash. 2. Then my boyfriend went in to get a reservoir tank within a week it was cracked and we got a new one from Auto Zone for cheaper and it had a warranty. 3. My sisters car wasn't working and she thought it was the battery so she the took the battery to pep boys to diagnose it and it came out failed which means a defective battery. So i took her battery to Sam's Club where she originally purchased it at and the mechanic guy named Carlos said of course it is not going to work her watts for her battery is 660 and pep boys tested it out with a 850. I'm like so she can purchase it there and they make more money he's like "yes thats what they do idk why they can't be honest!" I was going to call and tell this stupid company off but I'm just going to spread the word on here and social media so ppl know how pathetic and greedy this company is. 4.
