Made an appointment 2 days in advance for a state inspection and oil change. Showed up 20 minutes early today at 9:40 for my 10:00 appointment. Was told at arrival the "machine was broken so no inspections can be done today". I said ok well let's do the oil change at least. I brought my car here after finding my battery dead. I jumped it and immediately took it here since it was down the street from my house. I told the guy my battery was dead and pretty corroded and I needed it replaced. He said "we'll do a check and make sure it's your battery that needs to be replaced." Lol ok I just told you what needed to be replaced. Would it have helped if I wore my old General Motors ID to show that I worked in the car industry for 7 years and know a thing or two about cars? Then would he have taken my word for it? They checked my car and what do ya know....it was my battery. The guy gave me two options for batteries and I picked option 1. It was the cheaper of the two. I figure I'm not keeping the car for much longer so I didn't want to throw a ton of money into it. While they were changing out the battery the guy came out and said my terminals were corroded. I asked if it was one or both, because I had jumped my own car I knew it was just one not both. He told me both were corroded and needed to be replaced. I told him to show me. He went into the shop and came back with one and said "it turns out it's just one that needs replacing." I asked which one and he said the positive terminal. Lol I just stared at him. It was actually the negative one that needed replacing not the positive. I don't think he actually looked under the hood of my car. I think the mechanic told him to tell me to replace both thinking I'd do it. Then he took a guess it was the positive not the negative side. You really should know what you're talking about before you present it to a customer. When he told me my car was done and brought me the paperwork to sign I noticed he had the battery option 2 written down. I pointed this out to him and his exact words were "the other battery was too small for your car so we put this one in." Ok that would have been nice to know! I obviously have no choice since the other one doesn't fit but you need to at least inform the customer of what you're doing especially when it's at a higher cost. It was really creepy that the Sales guy kept coming to sit next to me to talk to me. I'm perfectly happy discussing things at the counter, not with you next to me. He kept trying to sell me tires. I told him my back tires were new and my front ones still had a good amount of tread. He said he looked at them and he recommended replacing all tires. I asked him to show me the measurement on my tires. He showed me my front tires were in yellow and my back in green. My tires do not need replacing!! My front ones will eventually but not yet and my back ones surely don't need replacing. It really bothers me when businesses try to take advantage of customers thinking they know nothing about their car. Not a huge fan of this place and their lack of knowledge in vehicles. Not to mention their horrible up-sell attempts. I won't return. If for some reason I ever have a dead battery again, I'll drive all the way to my old mechanic instead. read more

This used to be a 'Just Breaks' and now it's a 'Pep Boys' Called ahead of time, to find out if they could help out. For a bad break light they stated over the phone they stated roughly ten to fifteen minutes and ten to fifteen dollars. It really depends on the car model on the time and price for changing out a break light. I have always had good luck with Pep Boys shops and this one was no different! I worked with Steve a nice guy and someone who I would recommend! He had been there since 5am and would leave around at 9pm. He puts in some long hours, but still has a kind heart to his customers. The star of this review is Steve himself! 1) Great communication over the phone. 2) Great in house customer service. 3) He had his lunch delivered and tipped the young man well. I believe he had ordered wings, but was so kind to the delivery service. To m, ho a person treats others is big in my book! 4) While working on this project, Steve's mother called. He answered the call on his mobile while working on this project. It warmed my heart that he could take care of his family while not being distracted, still working on the project. I was weary of all Just Brakes given their reputation online, but I had a coupon and this location has decent reviews so I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The facilities are okay. Not the biggest, average cleanliness, and no wifi (yet). The staff was VERY nice. Customer service was very good. I went in for a brake job and they were extremely honest. They told me I didn't need the front brakes done, but they did show me $400 in repairs I needed done. Now, NO ONE likes paying more money, and some of the reviews here are upset because they paid extra money. (Which is dumb; cars cost money.) HOWEVER, the repairs were needed and they gladly showed me the parts that needed to be replaced and why. (I used to do a lot of my own car work and I'm frugal so I definitely was skeptical.) Took about two and a half hours. Compared to other places, their prices are moderate to low. Again, I hate paying more money, and ignorance is bliss, but I prefer not to have my car break down. The car runs great now and they showed me the replacement parts when I asked so I know I wasn't cheated. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. read more

I scheduled a 10am appointment for a tire installation and when I arrived on time I was told that I'd have to wait 2-2.5 hours (so why make an appointment in the first place I wondered?!?). When I asked if I could come back in 2.5 hours I was told that I would be at the back of the line. When I asked if I could rebook an appointment to get it done at the time of the appointment i was told that they could not guarantee that. Disappointed in this location. Made an appointment for 830. Didn't get addressed until 845 because he was on the phone, then was told if everything goes smoothly on another car it would be another 45 minutes before they would start on my tires. I asked what I could have done differently and was told I did everything correctly. I told him their scheduling system appears broken and was told it would have worked if they were not short handed. I reiterated that it appeared the system was broken as I spoke to you yesterday about this appointment and was not notified about you being short handed and such. Hours: they open on Sunday. Customer service: Michael served me today, I am happy with that. They changed my cam sensors and text drive for me two times before handing me back my car to make sure everything is OK. If you called before going, they will prepared the parts as soon as you arrive. Even offer a ride when you have to work. Fees: I inquired price from several different places, including Firestone and a Chinese one, the price here is relatively reasonable. 167 for two sensors, including parts and labor. To conclude: they are pretty friendly, good at their profession, price is moderate, efficient at working. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Within 20 minutes, the service manager told me that my car failed electrical system that his technicians cannot fix. He suggested to me names of nearby repair shops that would be able to service. This place has done a 180 degree turnaround since the last time I visited 7 months ago. I was not going to go back but had a 1 year alignment on my wife's car and wanted to make use of it. I decided to get the one year on my car which was hurting my shoulder it pulled so much to the right and took it in. They said I needed a new steering box, and told them that was replaced around 2 years ago. They took me out to the service area and showed me what the box was not doing. I showed them the receipt from the auto store on the steering gear and they saw on the receipt it had a limited lifetime warranty. The ink had faded dramatically but Eric was able to decipher that information. With that I went back to the auto store and got a new replacement and brought it back. They replaced the steering box and unfortunately their alignment machine broke. They took the car to the Pep Boys at Spring Creek and Alma, did the alignment there and brought it back to the original Pep Boys. It is always a little scary to have any work done on cars, but with the turnaround here, I trust them. read more

Didn't really have any pressing issues with my brakes. I was moving across the country, so had my brakes looked at here before my long drive as a precaution. The guy ended up doing repairs that were close to $800. After the long drive, one of the brakes on the back fell off, and I had to get my car towed for further repairs. After emergency repairs there, now I am seeing further issues that I am still having to address about my brakes system. This is the kind of place that reminds you how important it is to find a good, trustworthy mechanic, so you can avoid places like these. Never going back here or any Just Brakes again! Nice guys, but about six months after i had rotors and pads replaced, heard a grinding sound, took it to another brake place and they said that the pads were installed backwards which caused the pads to wear prematurely. Just talked to Just brakes corporate. They said on my receipt it says they warned me about my rack and pinion steering. Nothing on my receipt says that. They are liers. They also claimed to have called Sears where i had the work done, Another LIE. I talked to mechanic and he has not spoken to them. Made an appointment online & brought my teenage daughter's car in after a home bleed did not remedy the issue she was having with her brakes the Saturday before. I did mention to the mechanic that we did a bleed ourselves, I just didn't mention that it was literally less than 24 hours ago. Was charged for a new bleed ($70) & was told that it was a master something that needed to be replaced. That was gonna be $350. Mechanic mentioned that my daughter had been driving around without any brake fluid. That was a red flag for me since we had literally just done a total bleed the day before & we had a full reservoir of fluid the night before! I brought this to his attention & questioned where the fluid would have gone & if it was possibly a leak somewhere. Mechanic had not checked for a leak due to it was raining & the car was wet. Asked for the possibility to be ruled out before going forward. Hours later, I had to call for an update & was told it was a leak in one of the lines. Couldn't be fixed that day but would be the next day. $300 total. Not the best experience, but not the worst either. Would've been nice if the mechanic had checked for the leak first. Monday's team was a lot friendlier than Sunday's team as well. read more

I really wished I would have read the reviews before I took my 20 year old daughters car there! I only took it here because her brakes stated to squeel. The man said, "I cant let you drive this car out of here, I don't know how you have been driving this car at all!" It needs this and that and after $515.00 later. (my 20 year old collage kid was paying with her own money). Well after about a month we took it back because the car started doing something strange with the brakes. The man said "I don't see anything wrong with it, let me take it for a test drive." When he comes back he says "oh I need to show you this, you have a broken motor mount, I don't know how you are driving this car!" and yes they started to tell me how much it would be to fix that, I wanted to get a second opinion, he tried to tell me he could not let me drive out like that, but I was not falling for that again. Well now it has been a couple months now and now her brake light has come on and she is scared to drive her car. I am scared for her to drive it too, the brakes are not stopping unless she pumps them several times. When I called to tell them about the issue they said they will need to look at it again, I am scared to let them near this car! I am waiting to hear back from corp to see if they can make it any better. I refuse to pay another penny to this company! read more

My husband had gone to this location once before to do the $99 brake services in the front and back. We had a very loud metal grinding sound that we assumed was the shoes dwindling down. They let us know that one of our wheel cylinders was in very bad condition and changed that for us very quickly and at a great price. Fast forward two weeks later: we had another squealing sound in our brakes. We initially were really upset because we had noticed there was a leak on one of the rear wheels and thought it was the same one they had already changed the cylinder on. So I called them, fairly heated and spoke with the store manager. As it turned out, my husband had misunderstood which wheel cylinder they had changed since one was in worse condition than the other. They had advised him to do both but he opted to only do one which explained while the other had started leaking so soon after. At this point, the issue had gotten so bad we could not drive the truck because there was so much air in the brakes (i.e. when we attempted to use the brakes, they would go all the way to the floor and we could barely stop). Because of the leak we had, the manager offered to come to my house to put in some more brake fluid to get us to the location. He did just that and was at my house in less than an hour. In addition, it was almost their closing time so he actually asked one of his guys to stay late to fix the issue, which he was very pleasant about.
