I highly suggest they display when scheduling an appointment that they will not service run flat tires. I went to this location because it offered the earliest appointment. Off the bat, the location is barred up with signs and you'll think it's closed but it's the building next door. If you have a luxury car or are part of the 15% of new cars that have runflats they will not repair a nail puncture. Associate said it's not possible to repair (on the thread no where near sidewall) and I laughed because I've owned my car for over 10 years and both Audi Dealers & Americas Tire have both helped with nail punctures all this time. So complete waste of time. Luckily a few miles away, Americas Tire was able to assist fairly quickly. Go there instead. read more

This was a nightmare! I had a "check engine" light. I went to Pep Boys in Santa Ana. The mechanic told me there was a problem with an engine exhaust after he reviewed the vehicle's code. He asked if I wanted an oil change and I declined. They had my car for two days. I was changed $3897. They had performed over twenty "repairs" without asking me AND made a $166 oil change "repair" when I specially DECLINED this service. They also charged a $172 Warranty without discussing it with me. The next day, the "check engine" light was on AGAIN. I returned to the Pep Boys twice. When I reviewed the invoice, they had made over twenty major and minor services without my permission AND the "check engine" light was still on! The following day, I took my car to the Lexus dealership. The problem with the "check engine" light was finally identified. I REALIZE MY CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE when I left the Pep Boys TWICE. The repairs at the Lexus dealership were about $4000. I will make a formal complaint to the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Maybe we should reconsider our patronage with Pep Boys. The stores are convenient, but I am concerned about their moral compass and the competency of their mechanics. I am elderly and disabled and alone. Pep Boys broke every rule of automotive repair and left my vehicle unsafe to drive putting me and the public in jeopardy. read more

I went here with my crappy car, (a 1996 Buick Century) and I had a pleasant experience here. The workers didn't make fun of my car, told me they were impressed it could pass a smog check and was still on the road. The worker suggested I bought some type of oil and it made my car engine more quiet, which I thought was pretty awesome of him for suggesting. These guys know how to fix up older cars for cheap and I didn't make a ton of money at the time. I also had my tires here years ago, but I ended up getting them done at Costco a few years ago. I highly recommend this place, nobody treated me bad here and they're polite. The reason for the new tires was because of the work done on my apartments with workers leaving nails on the street. So nothing against Pep-Boys, they did a good job, it was just cheaper to get it done closer. Highly recommend this place, that is all. read more

I ordered some tires on amazon.com, which, by the way is hands-down the cheapest and best way to buy tires. They have a deal with Pep Boys and I've done it before but usually at the one in Lake Forest which is a great location. First and foremost this Pep Boys is in the hood. Now I grew up in Tustin/Santa Ana so I can say that, so if you don't mind driving down to the hood of Santa Ana, this location is in the middle of it all. I walked in with an appointment and the guy running the front desk Juan, who is very nice, looked lost. He didn't know if he had my tires, didn't know if I paid Amazon the fee to Pep Boys and downright didn't seem to know what was going on with my situation. Next I waited almost 40 minutes for them to grab my car and put it on the rack and i had an appointment. The guy that was handling my car looked pretty disheveled and at one point couldn't get my tire off so he kicked it a bunch of times, while the tire and rim slam to the ground. I noticed when he picked up my tire on the other side it was also rim side down on the pavement. When my car was done, they pulled it out of the garage and drove away for 15 minutes. Now I've gotten a lot of tires in my day but I've never seen someone drive away with my car for 15 minutes. The guy also mentioned that there was a sound and I mentioned to him that that sound only happens when you floor the shat out of the car. It's a dangling wire. Oops. Lastly, I got in the car and it smelled like food. Like Jack in the Box to be exact. (I have a nose like a bloodhound since i had Covid lol) I'm pretty sure this guy drove through the drive-through in my BMW. Either way , I wouldn't touch this place with a 10 foot pole, even though everybody working there was very friendly and courteous. PS I was home by 11 AM and I got a text message at 12 PM that my car was ready. LOL read more

DON'T COME HERE! Mechanics here are dishonest and try to take advantage of people. I came in requesting an alignment on my car. i also asked them to inspect my car because it was making a cranking noise when turning. After the inspection I recieved a quote of $2,100!!! I was told that the left side of my car was damaged from what seemed to be caused by a car accident and that the alignment couldn't be don't until that was fixed. I took my car to a different place and ended up paying $600 to fix the problem. read more

I would not recommend letting these people touch your car. The only reason they got my business in the first place is because it was Sunday and Mother's Day and no one else was open. They are are either lazy mechanics, they just don't care or don't have trim tools for interior center consoles.(which is hard to imagine it's pep boys right should be held to a certain standard) yeah right not at this place .You can clearly see in the pics that the idiot who worked on my car shoved a flat head screw driver in my center console to pop out the shift lock release cover to get to the button to put it in park when they pushed it to get on the lift since the alternator died and you couldn't jump it to get power to switch the automatic gears. And if they're crappy half ass work wasn't enough the crocks double charged me on every single part I needed replaced. Luckily after Mother's Day the next morning I reviewed the print out of what they did and looked up every part number they replaced to find that the doubled the parts price from what they sell in the store.what really irritates me the most is since the guy was quoting me these really high prices for the alternator I ended up choosing the remanufactured but if he was up front and honest about the prices I would have gotten the brand new one such crocks. He goes and looks at my tire and says it can't be fixed bcus the nail placement.. which was a lie bcus it wasn't even close to the rim at all. They've done it for me before! I needed a simple nail removed from my tire, which was under warranty and after calling the initial Pep Boys I purchased the tires from-Edgar from the SA LOCATION made a big effort getting me in on my lunch break!!!! I had called the Newport Blvd location a few times and was told they where too busy. This is understandable, but make an effort to be courteous and find an alternative- isn't that what customer service is all about? I even offered to come in different dates but continued to be told they where too busy. The technicians were pretty helpful and knew what they were doing with my car. 8 months ago, I had my brakes replaced at some other place and they ended up making a loud noise so I brought it here and they told me that the other mechanics put the wrong type of brakes so they were very helpful and replaced all of my brakes for a reasonable price. I waited over an hour to attempt to order a thermostat housing. The lady attended us and halfway through the process she would stop to attend other customers on the phone and completely ignored us. On top of that she was running back and forth attending customers who would complain because there was no cashier in the front. All I was trying to do is buy the part and open a credit card , I filled it out and completed it and yet she knew and still did not acknowledge us. This does not even deserve one star rating . Rather pay more at autozone or O'Reilys and receive great customer service because if I have an issue in the future I know with no doubt I will be helped. First and last time I ever go here. Well I just wanted to say that I came here just for a tire switch because I was running on my spare. They told me it was going to be a hour wait for them to switch it which was okay even though switching a tire is a fast process. I waited and when it was time to pay. I paid and for some reason their system froze and they did took out the money on my account and made me pay again so I got charged again. read more

Fancy smancy wiper blades I saw advertised on TV from RainX that are supposed to help make all this rain we've been experiencing as of late sheet off of the windshield after using them. All I know is I couldn't stand that rubbery scraping sound on the passenger side anymore, so I thought I'd give these high tech things a try. Found them in stock and in the two different sizes I needed, too. And then after completing my purchase, Jesus informed me that the service center would be happy to help install the wipers... for free. So I had just gotten a 2003 Honda Accord and was told by a dealership that it needed a new transmission -- or at the very least, a full and rather pricey transmission service. So I took it to Pep Boys (on 1st St. in Santa Ana), figuring that even if I really did need this work then they'd at least do it cheaper than a dealership would. I was greeted by Francisco Lopez. I explained to him my situation and what I'd been told by the dealership, and I further related that I was braced for the worst. After inspecting the vehicle, though, Francisco told me the transmission was fine -- and, in fact (as far as he could tell), the transmission had just been serviced (which he showed me). So I got an oil change. Before I could pay, though, Fransico told me where I could get a coupon online, saving me even more cash. This was unequivocally the best auto service experience that I've had in the last 20 years. It was like walking into an alternative dimension where everything is backward: Nobody's trying to up-sell you or rip you off or lie to you, everybody's friendly and helpful and trying to save you money, and you're in-and-out in a timely manner. Was here only for the Lyft Vehicle Inspection. Signage is very visible here for the Lyft Vehicle Inspection, both outside and inside. Just park your car along the row where you see the Vehicle Inspection signage, or at least remotely close to. I wasn't able to park along the fence with the Lyft signage, but was pretty close to. No one asked me to move my car. When you go into the store, you'll need to report to the Lyft table directly behind the cash register counter. The Lyft employee is there waiting for appointments to come in. You'll complete some information on the Vehicle Inspection Form and return it to the Lyft employee. If you haven't completed some of the application steps, like uploading a copy of your insurance, taking your photo, etc., you will take care of that while you're waiting. They then will go over the app with you and provide an opportunity to ask questions. Once the vehicle inspection is complete, the Lyft employee will call you up once they have received the form back from the Pep Boys inspector. The inspector also has already affixed the trade dress (Lyft decals) to both the front and back windows for you). You take a photo of the inspection sheet and upload that as the final step of the day. Then it's waiting for your background check to go through, usually about 2 days they explained. The only thing I didn't like was that I was the first to submit my form, but I was the last to be called of the entire group for that appointment time. So I don't understand why the first person in wasn't the first person out. I made it a point to arrive on time and was there first. read more
