I originally brought my car in for front brake service. After 2 weeks the brakes and rotors were still squeaking. Brett took my car in for inspection and called me back in less than 30 minutes as discussed. He indicated the brakes were fine, just the bolts and rotors were really dry. The good: open late and on sunday, inspections to find problems (not fix them) are relatively cheap, we were treated very well by the employees The bad: super expensive quotes for repairs becauseyou pay more for labor a.k.a. they are slower than veteran mechanics, We came on a sunday just to get some tests done and when we came to get the car on monday morning it wasnt even put back together. I had great service here although it seems over priced, maybe it's the entire auto industry and the parts markup is extraordinary, I'll use their estimate for more work and get estimates at other shops before I let them do any more work, I can get all parts (4) needed for 60 to 100 and they charge 90 to 235.00 for each part plus installation and it appears like you pay even more if you want them to warranty their work. read more

OK - I'm not an employee of Pep Boys, so don't expect a generic & bogus 5-star review on this place... I've come here in a pinch from time to time because they have decent hours and a large selection of parts. However they also suck... On August 14th I went in to buy some vacuum hose and a couple switches. I spoke with the cashier and she said she would get someone to help me at the parts counter right away. I went to the parts counter and no one was there. I started to look around and the parts guy came walking up, noticed someone else who just walked into the store and proceeded to help them ahead of me. Whatever... I went to the aisle with the switches and couldn't find a simple momentary SPST switch anywhere. I couldn't find any spade lugs anywhere and they appeared to be out of stock. When I went back to the parts counter, the guy was gone again? WTF? I left and bought my parts at NAPA, which is a real auto parts store. The bottom line, if you need a truly dizzying array of air fresheners, stereo speakers that light up in neon blue when they play, flame stickers for your minivan or an electric scooter, then Pep Boys is your place! On the other hand if you actually need helpful staff and high quality auto parts - go somewhere else. read more

I was also able to make an appointment online and at a very convenient time of 7pm. I was in and out in 30 minutes and also has a 36 month warranty. Great all around! read more

Took my car for an oil change, my apt was at 10 am, the lady in front said it would be 45 min so I waited... an hour and a half later my car was still parked and when i asked they said again 45 min... I had to go home and they would call me when it was ready... 4 PM no call and had to go in and it was already done... when I went in to pay they couldn't find my paper work and had to do it all over again.... will not be going there again. read more

I was just in Pepboys today after the battery in my car died and I could not say enough good things about this place. I was in a huge hurry, but ended up needing an oil change in addition to the battery being replaced. I was just going to come back later for the oil change, but Rick (the manager) assured me they could have both done in 20 minutes. Only 10 minutes later and he comes back saying eveything had been finished. Needless to say I was ecstatic. Rick was extremely helpful as well as efficient! Five stars for him!! read more

So sad to say this was the most incompetent group of mechanics/employees I've ever had to work with. I had an appointment to replace a tire I bought on amazon and had delivered here. Paid for the replacement ahead of time and had an appointment. so I showed up at 10:40 am (my appt. was any time between 10a-11a) only for my suv to be not be taken inside until 12:40pm, TWO HOURS LATER. I complained to the tire service guy who assured me "appointments don't mean anything here... you can contact amazon if you want a refund." 10 minutes later he comes looking for me, asking me which tire needs to be changed because there's nothing wrong with any of them. He's right, except they're all the same brand... except one, the one I wanted replaced. The one I ordered... so they can all MATCH. He asks me to follow him to the back shop so I can LITERALLY & PHYSICALLY show him what tire because apparently it's too difficult to figure out which one isn't like the rest when three of them are street tires and one is off-road. So simple! It's now 1pm and still don't have my suv back. I guess paying two weeks ahead and showing up on time means nothing here, according to the head service guy. Take your service elsewhere. I love pep boys never had a problem with them until now... won't be returning here again that's for sure read more

I came with my roommate to get an inspection for his Lyft and it's taken us 2 hours. We were inside and they sent us to the people outside. We asked and said we had an appointment at 4 and nobody said anything to us at 4. We went inside and the guy didn't want to show us what exact form we needed, so we had to go down the street to print it out. Came back and he said it was the wrong one. He finally showed us what form it was so we went back down the street to print out another form. After a while of waiting, they started the inspection and only took no more than 3 minutes. Scheduled online a diagnostic/repair appointment in Simi Valley, CA. Turns out they don't do diagnostic there. It would have been nice to know by somebody who works there to begin with. They then sent me to the Pep Boys in Thousand Oaks, CA. The guy in the Service Department looked like he didn't even want to be there. He said the guy who does diagnostic service is on vacation. If someone is on vacation, they should have a qualified guy to take his place. It's a business, customers should never hear, sorry we can't help you. What a wasted trip. read more

Back in April 2020, I purchased a new battery with a 36-month warranty for my vehicle. The experience was great. On the morning of January 9th, 2022 that battery was dead so I jump-started the car and went to the store to get it replaced. Even though the service department was open when I pulled up I was told that there was no one that could do the installation and to try back later in the afternoon. At 2 pm I called to see if I could return and was told again that there was no staff to do the job, so I booked an appointment for the next morning at 9:30 am. Upon arrival, I was told that it would be $220 to replace the battery. After reminding the service agent that the battery was under warranty he adjusted the price to $44.23. I reluctantly agreed and had the service done. After waiting approximately 10 minutes a technician pulled the old battery and installed the new one. This job took 3 minutes to accomplish. I then paid for the job and reviewed the receipt. In April when I purchased the battery, the cost was $169.99. The exact same battery was now 179.99, an upcharge of $15. Then installation was $14.99 and something called Pep-Up for $12.99 plus $1.25 tax making the total cost $44.23. The definition of warranty is "A representation, especially in writing, made by a seller or company to a purchaser of a product or service that a refund, repair, or replacement will be made if the product or service proves defective or unsatisfactory, especially within a given time period." The warranty offered by Pep Boys is hollow at best! I remain underwhelmed... read more

Fantastic, quick, honest service!!! This is my first time getting any repairs at PepBoys and I definitely will be coming back. I called at 10am on a Saturday nonetheless just to get a quote. Not only was I shocked at the affordable price but they were able to take my car in immediately. I was there to get my brakes changed, and as they were looking at them there was another issue with my calibrator. I felt they were so honest and helpful. Could have easily taken advantage of the fact that I needed my car asap but they did everything the could to get me back on the road. The it that was helping me out, NELSON, was very friendly and knowledgable. Klaus, one of the mechanics was also very friendly and helpful. My experiences with this Pep Boys have been up and down, but they have stood behind me whenever I have had problems. Last fall I purchased brake rotors and pads for my Toyota Camry from their parts counter and went home and changed out my brakes. I didn't find anything too odd about the process and it did fix my bad vibration issue under braking. I later went back and purchased a new set of Falken tires which they had a great price on, beating all other retailers AND they had them in stock. I also had them align my car to make sure everything was in good working order. Recently though I started getting my front end vibration back so as I took my car in to have my tires rotated, I asked them to do a brake inspection to see if the rotors had warped again and if I had uneven wear on my pads. Ricky, who pulled my front wheels off immediately noticed that the rotors were loose on the hub and asked me about it. I told him that when I put them on I noticed that they were a little loose, but I had no reason to think they were the wrong part or a bad fit. He told me that they should be much tighter and explained that he would have the manager come take a look at them. Paul came out and inspected the rotors and I told him the same thing and he said they were the wrong part for the car and that the pads were bad due to the bad rotors. He initially asked if I could bring it back on the weekend to have them replaced because he didn't want to take up any more of my time as I had been waiting for awhile already. I said it would be a couple of weeks before I could come back, but he consulted with the manager and I told him if he could do it now, I had time to wait. So, long story short, we all agreed to do it the same day and Paul immediately looked up the RIGHT parts, the manager (sorry I didn't get his name) went and pulled the RIGHT parts and Ricky got started on replacing the brakes. They covered all the labor and the majority of the parts. I paid less than $90 for the whole fix and they had it done in less than an hour. Ricky, Paul and the Manager, who will continue to be nameless, worked well together in solving my problem and getting me back on the road. They were friendly and explained the process from start to finish. Paul even explained how brake parts should be paired in order to get the best ride and longevity from them. Thanks to them I feel more comfortable with my car. I will definitely be back!! read more

Arriving with a dead battery and an appointment, I was prepared to spend $210 or so for a Bosch battery for my Audi. Once Nelson looked at the battery, however, he determined that it had not lasted for the full 5 year guarantee from the installation a few years before. He told me he had some good news for me, and sure enough I walked out a half hour later spending only $113! Pleasant surprise due to the diligence of an employee, Nelson, and his obvious concern for me, an individual customer. You won't find a more honest shop, I'm sure. read more

I was appalled at my experience this morning. The guy working the service desk could not be found anywhere. Two cashiers and A mechanic went looking for him and said they thought he might be in the bathroom. Approximately 30 minutes later he pulled up in the company van. He decided to go get McDonalds and didn't tell anyone he was leaving! Just left! The young girl working said he wasn't even supposed to be driving that vehicle!!! Wow! An amazing employee named Ricardo went out of his way to try multiple different solutions for us like lubricating the lock and making a key for us all for free. Then helped us with what to do next and how to replace said trunk lock. Honestly if I went to the dealership to get it replaced it would be probably around 300-400 dollars. I had a great experience at pep boys on Saturday 12/19/20. They were so friendly and very knowledgeable. My battery needed to be replaced and ended up getting my wiper blades done at the same time. They provided me with options for my battery and were so fast! As a nurse I loved the safety measures in place, everyone was wearing masks and practiced social distancing. Went to Pep Boys to purchase windshield wipers - store manager Brett was up to the task of figuring out what was needed for my vehicle, and directed me to go around the side for the free installation service. Of the 3 or 4 service reps in the pit, at least 3 made eye contact within the next 5 - 10 minutes, one walked past a couple times and showed no interest in even checking to see what was needed. I eventually went to my car and called the store to ask for Brett, in order to ask if there was a sign-in sheet or how to go about getting service. He said he would come around - which he did, and installed the wipers for me. I was very impressed with his service - he deserves 5+ stars and a bonus for 2018. The folks servicing cars around the corner who couldn't be bothered to even nod, but certainly took the time to make eye contact with stoic stares - 1 star. First let me say I don't give 5 starts - BUT tonight's experience was fantastic! I am a single mom and know very little about cars and the 'stereo typical scenario' is true about women getting ignored and/or dis credited for not knowing much about cars. That being said, I have been dreading getting my windshield wipers taken care of. A few weeks back they got tangled up with each other and my drivers side wiper ripped off (at 11:30pm) and I thought the entire arm needed to be replaced. Finally after weeks of looking and "youtube"ing, I think I was in fact JUST the wiper that needed to be replaced and not the arm. I went online and ordered on to be picked up tonight at Pep Boys in Simi. My 17 yr old son and I got it an and still had issues with the passenger side. I drove around to service to find a tech (later found out his name was Josh) helping another man with his wipers, so I sheepishly waited to talk to him. Josh looked at the wipers, the new and the old and the passenger side was getting caught on the drivers side and even stopped moving. He suggested a new one for the passenger side and to bring it to him and he would get it on right. So we went back into the store. While online earlier when I placed the order, I noticed if I bought 2 wipers I would get $10 off. Well, I didn't think I needed two. Once I got the now second wiper I spoke with the sales guy, Alex, and told him of the situation and he gave me the $10 off the second wiper! WooHoo! Thanks so much Alex! Back to Josh. He got it all set and we tried again and the situation was worse. He then tinkers and tightened up the nut on the passenger side wiper arm and we are golden! These guys went out of their way and I am so appreciative of it! I even started a conversation with Josh about education in the auto industry and he gave us very valuable information for my 17 yr old son as he wanted to get into this industry. For what it is worth though, when I came in to pick up the parts, the girl at the counter was a snot and I did not like how she 'barked' at Alex (who later helped me) to get the items that I was to pick up. This location in Simi Valley is exceptional. I have had nothing but horrible experiences at other Pep Boys locations. I went to my local location to have a simple headlight bulb changed. They told me 4 hours. I drove 17 miles to this location that is close to my work! Brett the manager told me 15 minutes. He changed the bulb himself, refused to charge me or accept a tip!!! Brett is the definition of customer service. He is bright, intelligent and personable. While here he noticed that my front tires were cracked from dry rot! He had the tires in stock. I could have got the tires cheaper elsewhere, but because of the service and convenience I had them replaced here. I have referred 3 of my employees to this location! I hope Pep Boys recognizes Brett for his incredible service and attitude!!! read more
