Probably the worst service I've ever had at a mechanic place in my entire life. They tell me it's the starter and then replace the battery without letting me know and charge me $275 and then charge me another $700 to replace the starter it took them three days to figure out all that and how to do it and then they tell me when I go to pick it up that now I need to replace the fuel pump because the diagnostics said that didn't you already run a diagnostics? Why didn't it show that to begin with now? My check engine light is on it was not on before. This is a complete utter rip off why I will never ever ever again. The reputation managers are busy trying to cover up the negligence this shop produces. They fired their mechanic for malfeasance. In the meantime they leave my Mercedes in the parking lot under a tree unlocked for two weeks. Pep Boys is a felon friendly establishment. Many of the managers and mechanics all come from the same school of thought. They have no problem putting the con down to get to your hard earned money. If I had a tricycle and they worked on them this would be the last place I would go, thus was my mistake! Just look at the reviews and note the responses by the reputation management company. I made an apt for a friday at 3 pm and dropped my car of after hours on Thursday to give them all days to do the alligment for 4 tires. I did not hear anything from them all day and after my third unanswered call they informed me at 530 on Friday they would call me back in 30 min to at least let me know the price. I never got called back in the remaining 2.5 hours of workday. On sat I drove by the shop and noticed my car was still not touched. I called and spoke again to the front desk and he promised me they were working on it. when showed up at 1230 my car was still in the same spot. I had to miss a whole day of overtime work and they no intention or honoring any apt of promises they make This is what happens when the owners dont care how there employees act and don't value customers. i called pep boys main line on sat and explained the situation they promised to make it right and call me in 48 hours that was 5 days ago. pep boys does not care that they screw over people avoid them at all cost. i took it to tires plus and they did it cheaper and honored my apt! read more

We have bought tires through their BOGO Black Friday sale and been a couple times for other tire related issues. Brandon, the manager was very thorough in explaining why my car needed synthetic ol versus traditional (and showed me in my manual where is calls for synthetic as well - chapter 9) Quick service, as I waited (45 minutes) Got an oil change, tie rotation, and check up. (Penzoil; was told that same additives as mobil 1, but a lot cheaper) With the 20 off coupon, came to 57.10. Only wonder is. .what is this shop fee? Let me preface that I've gone to this location many times because they are reliable and close to my home. That being said, they nickel and dime me every step of the way no matter what the issue is and are highly ineffective when it comes to communicating with customers. I'm a trade worker so I have some general sense of what labor goes into mechanical work. Even with all that knowledge the manager, David, felt the need to mansplain every step of the way because the thought of someone knowing as much as him was beyond his comprehension. His inability to listen to understand and his prodigy like way of listening to respond was astounding. In our conversation I never got a word in without him cutting me off, and no where did I get to express the issue I had. He called me rude and treated me like a child. I'm a 30 tradesman not a teenage girl that needs everything handed to her. That said, I purchased "Road Hazard" for all four of my tires which I bought online and had them mounted and balanced at this location. The package was misdescribed to me that if anything happened to the tire, even the act of me stabbing it right after they put it on in front of the store, they would replace the tire for free. That was the conversation I had with the previous manager. This, according to the fine print, is not the case. Now I completely understand that I was lied to about the policy. I can empathize that is not the same manager so it difficult to pay for a prior employees problem, but the simple fact that I couldn't even get that sentence out without the manager interrupting me six, and that's not an exaggeration, times to tell me there's nothing he can do. I hadn't even gotten to the part where I asked anything of him, just wanted to tell him the situation so we could come to an arrangement together. I will never, regardless of how close this business is to my home, be taking my business back to this location. Purchased 4 new tires. I asked that they turn off the "low tire pressure" warning lights when they installed the new tires. When I picked up the car, the low tire pressure light was still on. They said the light would go off after about 3-4 miles. However, the light is on 2 days later and it's showing about 10 psi lower on one of the tires than the other 3. Also, the pressure in the other 3 is extremely variable. Does seem they could have at least filled the tires with the appropriate amount of air after spending nearly $500 there. I was loyal to my old pepboys when I lived in California so naturally I would try out a pepboys in my area. When my oil light came on I stopped here in a panic. I didn't immediately have the money for an oil change so I stopped to ask if my car would be okay another week without one. Justin and Nelson assisted me and they were extremely friendly and helpful. I decided when I could afford it I would come back and get oil change. I arrived today to David and Brandon. They weren't as friendly and welcoming. In fact they both tried ripping me off with additional unnecessary services that I didn't want. My car is new and did not need a new air filter but they insisted they needed to get it in order to do the oil change. My old pepboys never charged me for than 40 bucks and these people were trying to charge me upwards of 60. Absolute rip offs. I'm not trying to be up sold some bullshit I don't need on a new car. read more

I took my car to a Honda Dealership a few days ago just to find out that THIS PEP BOYS gave me an after market Starter that wasn't even for a HONDA and charged me $1000+ for it when at a Honda Dealership it was only $800 plus labor. Mind you this service was done about a year ago just to find out that they gave me a shitty starter that wasn't even for my car. I really really really hate this place and will by far plead that if you want something done... DON'T GO TO PEP BOYS on McGinnis. My husband went there at 1:00 PM. They told us they don't have time to look at our car because they only have ONE mechanic working... No Courtesy to let us know they don't have time to look our car. I had to re-tow our car to another mechanic and now we have to wait the extra day since by the time towing and moving the car from one shop to another it was time 5:00 PM. A few months ago I went there because I was having problems with my starter. They sold me a $300 battery that did not fix the problem. So I said I would not go back. Went there in December because it was close to my house but This place has the worst customer service. I paid over $1700 for tires and they told me that I needed an alignment. Told him to go ahead. Later that night they told me they COULDN'T FIGURE OUT how to align my car so they said they just put tires on. When driving home I had to turn the wheel about a quarter turn to the left to keep the car straight. And all kinds of Warning lights came on driving home. The car was driving fine aside from the tires when I took it in. They denied touch the alignment. They did something and Made the car worse. Took it to the dealer and the dealer noted fresh wrench marks where someone attempted an alignment. And the dealer ended up fixing the issue. Went back due to a nail in the tire which would be covered under road hazard. They said they can see me in an hour when I tried to schedule to come back later they said they couldn't guarantee being seen when there was no one in the waiting room. He told me the next appointment would be 3-4 days out, just to patch a tire. Needless to say when they don't care much about customer service. Avoid this place! You will not regret! Went this morning to service the brakes and rotors. After two hours they realized that had the wrong brake pads. Went back in the afternoon to do the service. Because of the problem they offered a 20% discount. Although I also had a pre-paid card of $40 from them due to another service done, I asked my wife to take a picture and send it to me, as the manager said that it could be keyed in the computer. Manager went for lunch and the attendant could not do it. I asked to go and pick up the card when the technician Mr. James interjected and told me I could not leave the premises without paying. I explained that I was going to pick up the debit card, but he looked at me as if I were a thieve. Bottom line, Mr James started explaining that he was doing me a big favor by giving me 20% discount. I listened to him until he finished. When I started talking Mr James simply turned around and started walking back to the shop. I said that I was talking to him, he just went on back to the shop. By far the best PepBoys Service Station I have visited. The space is modern, CLEAN, and the reps were extremely friendly and personable. I am usually hyper-sensitive to the BS most service stations serve up, but I did not get an inkling of 'screwage' from these folks. I decided to leave the car when they said it would be done before 11:30. I called and spoke to the more elderly guy ( Chris I think ) and he said my car was "next on the lift". So, I waited until 4:30, had a coworker drive me out of his way to drop me off and retrieve the old wheels and tires. The car had just gone up in the air. I asked why the delay and they gave me some BS lies about the TPMS being "gummed up" and they needed to rebuild them but didn't have the parts. At this point all old wheels still had the tires on them. How could they know they needed to be "rebuilt" if they never took them out of the wheel? I had never formed an opinion of Pep Boys before today, as I had never used them for any services. Today, that changed. Last night, I made an "appointment" to get my oil changed today at 11am. I arrived at 10:45 ready to have my oil changed. When I asked about how long it would be, the man behind the counter stated that it would be 2-3 hours. I stated that I had made an appointment at 11am. He said, that that only meant that I would then be put on the "waiting list" which at that time would be at least a 2 hour wait. Another employee sitting in the customer waiting area stated that "its like getting a haircut, you're appointment time only puts in in the waiting line". I stated that the garage bay, labeled "oil changes" was empty and asked, "what are you doing?" He stated, "do I look like I change oil?" I'm not an expert, but when you're wearing a shirt and pants that are the same color and are the same as the other workers I saw and have your name embroidered on your chest, then YES, YOU LOOK LIKE YOU CHANGE OIL if your in a automotive service facility. The only clue that I might have recognized to indicate that you did not change oil, was that you were sitting in a chair in the customer's waiting area at the time. My experience with other service providers, such as Dentists, Doctors, Barbers, Optomitrists, etc. that do take APPOINTMENTS, is that upon creating said appointment, they HONOR it by seeing you within a few minutes of the agreed upon appointment and don't just put you at the end of the current "wait list". Since neither of the other employees behind the counter attempted to interceed and and correct the "lounger", I can only assume that this is a Pep Boys managment issue with their culture and the employees themselves should not be blamed for their behavior. You never get a second chance to make a first impression! Pep Boys has had theirs, I will never return or recommend them to anyone. read more

Took my Saturn outlook in for an oil change and they pointed out 2 leaky front struts. Since I had an extended warranty I had them go ahead replace them which required a front end alignment. 800 miles later I noticed my 2 pretty new front tires were worn down to the cord in a toe-in misalignment. Returned to the store and after some pretty thorough research by the manager Brandon, he concluded it was their fault gave me 2 new tires tires to match the ones I had and fixed the alignment problem. He actually gave me the printout showing the before and after alignment numbers. Whole process was about half a day but I couldn't be happier with how they handled the situation. Very professional with a "customer first" attitude. Updated: in response to another review about keeping customers informed, Brandon pointed out that his focus is to correct that with all the technicians. The coordinator was excellent with follow up so any information she gets from the techs will get passed on. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation on a Sunday morning. When i made the online appointment I said that I WOULD WAIT FOR THE CAR. I get there 10 minutes early for my appointment and I am told that I would have to leave the car. It would be over an hour before they could start my service because they only had 1 person working in the shop and the appointment they had before mine ADDED a service to their car that would take longer. Why wouldn't you make the customer that added additional lengthy services leave their car knowing that you have other appointments coming up? If you have multiple appointments (other customers where coming in while I was there) why would you only have 1 mechanic working. We are a 2 car family, soon to be 3 car, and will NEVER go back to this Pep Boys! My wife had a similar problem with the Pep Boys in John's Creek. read more
