    KC the wonder woman
    Vita L.

My car was taken here because I've used Pep Boys in the past. Now... my car had one flat and was sitting here for almost 24 hours. Not for lack of service. Four employees left their positions recently due to mistreatment by the company. The remaining employees bust their butts to keep everyone happy. KC is above and beyond the type of person you want to keep at any company. She assumes all rolls, she cares, she works hard and fast. Customers were unhappy with estimates. Employees were unhappy with work conditions. Pep Boys needs to invest in its employees. They are working so damn hard. Figure it out.

My experience at Pep Boys in Vallejo was positive and pleasant. First, I went to their website and I bought tires online on a Sunday. There was a sale. The website said they would be available the next day. After my purchase, I immediately scheduled an appointment. They had open availability for the time I wanted, 4:30pm and for the next day, Monday! I was thrilled to be able to come so quickly! I also took the initiative to call Pep Boys Monday morning to confirm they had the tires in stock. I spoke with Don, the Manager, who was so helpful. He told me he would check and call me back. He kept his word. Don called me back to confirm he had the tires in stock and I was ecstatic. I was happy that the website didn't lie and that I could get my tires done that day. I confirmed to see him at 4:30pm. I checked in with Dino (I think that's his name) and dropped off my vehicle. I asked how long it would be and he said probably near closing time which is around 7pm. He said they would call me when it's ready. He was nice. I walked to Costco to shop while I waited. I did not receive a phone call, but decided to walk back. It was about 6:30pm when I returned and my vehicle was clearly still being worked on. I waited in the waiting room and I was able to watch the techs do their work through the window. The services department was a construction zone. The waiting room was open and clear but parts of it was being painted. I was on my phone playing games for a bit when Don, the Manager, approached me to give me an update. He said it wouldn't be long. At about 7:20pm, Don called out my name and he asked me what my schedule was like the rest of the week. With hesitation, I told him my availability. He said his tech had back to back wheel alignments and he didn't have enough time for mine. Don said it would take about an hour, no appointment needed, so I told Don I would be back the next day. Of course, not knowing what the next day would be like, if their service department was busy with other vehicles, Don did assure me that he would squeeze me in for the car to be finished. I came back the next day, around the same time (4:30pm) to get the vehicle aligned and Don was able to get the tech to work on my vehicle. I stayed in the waiting room this time and it took about 40-45 minutes. I was occupied with social media so it didn't seem that long. It was a minor setback to coming back another day but I was happy with everything. I also submitted a rebate form online which was very easy. Overall, I was pleased with their customer service, communication and friendliness.

    Grease tracked in by technicians

Not a good experience. They not only increased the price of all their oil changes, they also threw in a multi hour wait free of charge. But there's more... they also leave behind some complementary grease on all the floor mats. What service... I knew the black friday deal was too good to be true...

Jazz was wonderful to us on the phone, and you got the feeling that these guys were proud of what they do and they were genuine people, not a shop trying to scam you out of your hard-earned money. They were honest and straightforward in what they did to our car. We have a 2010 Honda CRV and the AC compressor needed to be replaced, which is a very expensive job. We knew it was going to be expensive, but we also wanted someone that we could totally trust so they didn't charge us another $1,000 more. I had a good feeling when we walked into the waiting room. Jazz greeted us right away, as well as the mechanics walking in and out; they all greeted everybody in the room, telling them hello. You just don't get that at normal places. We have never been here, and because of the wonderful reviews, we thought we'd definitely want to give them a shot. We do not regret using them to repair our car. When it all came down to the total $$$, Jazz was able to save us another $300 off the initial cost because he was able to source a slightly less expensive AC compressor for the car. They also follow up with you a week later to see if everything is okay; you get the feeling that this is run by some really good, honest people that don't want to rake you over the coals like some of the other shops. I would highly recommend giving them a call and talking to them if you're hesitant about it. You'll probably have the same experience I did. I would definitely go back to them for any of my car issues in the future.

So my suspension was making some odd noise and my tire was wearing out early. Originally took it to an alignment shop on Broadway next to Chevron. That guy gave me back my Toyota w the steering wheel cocked to the left just to drive straight. Took it right back. Now my tire is doing the exact same thing. Went back again and he tells me to take it to a general mechanic to figure out if I need a tie rod or not. Anyways I just saw Shack and he let me know my bearings in my axle are bad, yeah the one I got from AutoZone. So he basically told me to replace the axle first then come back for an alignment. To be honest I was willing to pay him for the alignment today but he didn't push or suggest it. You talk about an honest and reputable location! This is it.

As soon as I parked, one of the technicians came over to greet me. I told him I was there for an oil change, and he asked if it was my first time visiting. When I told him no, he asked if I wanted the same service as last time. I said yes, and he replied, "Have a seat in the lobby, and someone will be right with you." I really appreciated that he already knew my service history and got straight to the point. It made the check-in process quick and easy. I waited in the lobby for no more than three minutes before my name was called. That actually caught me off guard because I had forgotten they already had my information in their system. The advisor confirmed the service I wanted and let me know it would take no more than 30 minutes, which I thought was a very reasonable wait time. The lobby is on the smaller side, but that's not a big deal since they only service three or four cars at a time. There was a TV to watch while waiting, along with complimentary self-serve water, which was a nice touch. The only part of my visit that left me with mixed feelings was at checkout. After my oil change was finished, the technician asked me when I had last had my brakes serviced. She mentioned that my brakes felt unusual when she was moving my car. Since I had my brakes done about a year and a half ago, her comment made me wonder if something was actually wrong. I asked how much a brake inspection would cost, and she explained the price and mentioned it also included a tire rotation and would only add another 30 to 40 minutes. Based on what she told me, I agreed to have it done because I didn't want to take any chances. When everything was finished, she told me my brakes were completely fine. While I was relieved nothing was wrong, I couldn't help but feel like I had been talked into an additional service that I probably didn't need. I'm not saying she intentionally tried to mislead me, but the way the conversation was presented made it seem like there was likely an issue with my brakes, and that concern is what convinced me to authorize the inspection. I think the experience would have felt much better if, after finding nothing wrong, there had been some acknowledgment that the concern turned out to be unfounded whether that was waiving or discounting the inspection or simply apologizing for the unnecessary worry. Instead, I left feeling like I had paid for a service based on a possible issue that didn't actually exist.
