I'm reading people are complaining about the prices...there are lots of chain pizza joints where the pizza is "cheaper", do you want pizza or do you want to save 2 bucks? I believe in Mom & Pop businesses they always go the extra mile ( no skimping on the sauce). They work hard to please because they really care if you come back . I am in Ashland for a couple of months for work. I was driving by and noticed their signage. I am so happy I went in. Their pizza is really good. I'll be back to try Uncle Frank's Italian sub soon. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Their pizza toppings and flavor are good, love the deep dish pizza.... but their dough sucks. I've been here many times, and half the time the dough tastes like it's not fully cooked through (deep dish or regular dough.. doesn't matter). When it is, it's generally covered in grease. I got "the pepi" specialty pizza a couple times and all I noticed was that the pizza box and bottom of the dough was smothered in grease. Not appetizing. Got a salad here once, and the spaghetti. Nothing special. Their service is spotty - a few times I ordered, all I could hear were people yelling, or I'd get hung up on, etc. Overall for the price and quality, I expect more... it doesn't measure up. New fav "after a day on the lake" spot! Great pizza, sands-the bread reminds me of Amarosa bread and these little garlic knots are crazy good! Service is friendly but always super busy. My kids love the stuffed crust pizza and buff wings. And they have free wi-fi! On the walls they have all kinds of community service awards/activities. This is my go to pizza place in Ashland, best in town and high in the running for best in the Richmond area. The owner calls it "Jersey Style" pizza. I'm not sure what differentiates Jersey style from NY style. If you don't either just consider it NY style and you'll have a good idea of what you're getting. I generally like a lot of toppings on my pizza but the crust and sauce at Pepicelli's are so flavorful I usually just get cheese or pepperoni. I think that Neanderthal from the barstool sports Facebook videos would really enjoy it. Only downside is it's a good bit more expensive than the pizza chains but you get what you pay for. read more

Hands down best pizza i have ate on the east coast. Im soo mad at the negative reviews for the past 4 yrs everytime i go to kings dominion we eat here this is one of kids favorite part. The pizza is very fresh and just yhe right amount of sauce and i love love the extra greasy thats whay makes a pizza. Sometimes deliveries can take a hour and 20 mins but come on on a buay sat. Delicious food and great service. Ordered a traditional pizza with pepperoni and bacon on it, a gyro, and breadsticks and they were all fantastic. Ate in. Small place, mostly does takeout. Staff is really enthusiastic and prompt. Got the Barnyard Zeus pizza, a meatball sub and the Slash Cottage sub. All fantastic, particularly the pie and the Slash Cottage (hard to go wrong with capicola,pepperoni, ham, turkey,bacon and salami). The Greek salad was just good. We got this pizza delivered to our hotel room and it pretty good. We also got the meatball garlic knots which my husband loved and is STILL talking about them! Breadsticks were ok but small. The funnel cake fries were good but could've had a little more powdered sugar. The white chocolate lava cake was a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT. It was tough and could barely eat it and the center was hard as a rock! We'll try them again the next time we come there and try something different. read more

We have been here multiple times and while the pizza is very good, the service has gone downhill SO MUCH. We walked into the restaurant and it was complete chaos. Phones ringing off the hook, a line of customers at the counter, employees asking each other what orders have been completed, what still needs delivered (and in what order)....it was just so unorganized. The poor girl at the counter that took our order looked completely overwhelmed, not trained properly and ultimately, our order ended up coming out wrong. We received an order of garlic knots that were ice cold, so those were sent back and had to be recooked. Then our pizza came out as all pepperoni (we ordered half cheese, half pepperoni), so that too had to go back and be recooked. Then when our correct pizza finally came out, she brought it to the table and said one slice of the pizza flipped over and basically all of the cheese ran off of it. She offered to make us yet another pizza, but being that we had already been here for over an hour, we ate the other pieces of pizza and left. Pizza is ok. I think their claim to be the "best pizza in Ashland" is a stretch as it really is nothing special. Over priced for the minimal toppings. $16 for what is a medium anywhere else?! JOKE!!! My biggest problem is that the staff is either lazy or completely inept. Why are you paying an employee to stand their and WATCH me order my pizza when I have to go to them to pay anyway?! If you're going to have a kiosk "for convenience" (which is a joke) then make it so I can pay and not have to deal with your employees nasty attitude at all!!! And you've got the nerve to have a tip jar?! PATHETIC customer service! IF this was truly the best pizza around I still wouldn't come back!!! Go to Papa John's! During the pandemic we have similar-regularly patronized Pepicelli's and have enjoyed their product. I live 20 to 25 minutes from the store and have discovered that if I order at a certain point on my way into Ashland I can arrive about the time he pizza is coming out if the oven. Then it is only some 20 to 25 minutes out if the oven before we get to eat it. Not perfect but acceptable. Today I called to learn that they are no longer talking phone orders and you must order online. Well doing so for me would mean stone cold pizza by the time I get home. While their pizza is fairly good, it is not good enough to eat cold. I I'll be taking my business down the street to Antonio's or across the street to Pappa John's where they still take phone orders. My family orders from here often although we have never had the pizza! We order their subs I get their chicken parm or their meatball parm and my kids normally get just the turkey and cheese sub! We absolutely love their subs. The delivery is awful. If you order make sure you have about an hour to spare because it will most likely take that long. Stopped in Ashland for the night on the way home from TopSail Island, NC. The hotel highly recommended Pepicelli's over the "chain" pizza places. I'm so glad I took their advice.
