    Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice
    Anna H.

If you're looking for a quick and satisfying meal, Pepper Lunch is always a solid choice. We ordered the Jumbo Beef Rice, and the portion was generous with plenty of thinly sliced beef, buttery corn, and fluffy rice. The best part is mixing everything together on the sizzling hot plate, letting the beef finish cooking while the rice develops a crispy, flavorful crust. Every bite was rich, savory, and comforting. The restaurant has plenty of parking available, but most of the spaces are in the surrounding lots, so expect a short walk to the restaurant. The service was fast, making it a great option whether you're dining in for lunch or dinner. If you've never tried Pepper Lunch before, the Jumbo Beef Rice is definitely a great place to start.

We came on national pepper lunch day for BOGO. There was a line already at 11am but not too long. The wait was about 40 minutes for a table for six. The store manager and marketing manager were both there greeting guests. They even gave us a Peppie doll keychain! The promo only applied to the beef pepper rice so we got that. It comes with a few pieces of beef and then rice and corn. They have garlic soy sauce on the side. It was a good portion, just light on the protein. Ambiance was good in a self-serve kind of way. You pay at the counter first. They bring out the dish to your table. Parking is available in the structure in the back.

There is still a free lot down First on the south side of Main. You can easily walk to the restaurant from there. They removed the kiosks from our previous visit and now you just order from a person at the register. They try to assign you a table number so they know where to bring your food, but if they are not busy then you can try to tell them which table number you want to sit at. The order taker/server was still friendly on our visit, but the kitchen staff was unprofessional. Restrooms are still at the back and are still clean. This time we got the chicken and hamburger curry and a double chicken curry. As the instructions say online, you pour the curry over the food while the iron skillet is sizzling at your table. Both the hamburger and chicken meat were just ok. Do not know if you can get a knife from them, but the chicken is not tender enough to cut easily with a fork and spoon. You can do it, but it takes a lot of work. A knife will probably scratch the skillet, but would be much easier. The amount of curry was not enough and we got one extra for $2.50. The curry was a little spicy, but not super hot and the flavor was good. The portion of food is probably enough to share or for two small meals. You might have about 1/3-1/4 left by yourself if you do not overeat. The overall quality is just ok. Drink machines are self serve towards the back and are Pepsi products and various kinds of tea. The restaurant itself is a nice casual and clean atmosphere. However, a strong food and smoke smell was coming from the kitchen the whole meal this time. It can probably get loud, but it was about average to medium quiet on our visit. The main draw for us is that it is a good healthier alternative to katsu curry since you can get the chicken without frying if you do not get the Karaage chicken. Overall, we would still come here again, but not for a while because it is just ok. Definitely worth a try if you have not been here before. And if anyone is still doing keto, curry is not keto friendly, but you can get just meat and ask for veggies or something else to sub for the rice.

Came here for national pepper day to celebrate a friend's bday! While it took us a while to get seated (~ 1 hour), the food came within 5-10 minutes. The national pepper day offered BOGO for their classic beef pepper rice. While the concept was unique, the taste was quite standard with four main ingredients: beef, white rice, corn, and scallions. Beef wasn't really marinated so adding the sauce definitely helped with flavor. It was quite peppery and the slab of butter definitely elevated the taste a bit more. I did appreciate the service though; everyone was quite attentive and we also got some free swag (peppi dolls!). Overall, not bad but this is definitely something I could make at home.

Came here today with my niece and nephew for lunch. It was their first-time visiting this eatery and we had a pleasant dining experience. There are public parking garages nearby (which I like and appreciate!), as well as convenient street parking. We ordered the following: 1) Beef Sizzling Curry [single meat] (4.5/5) 2) Kimchee Beef Pepper Rice (5/5) 3) Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice (5/5) Decent portions. Love watching the individual bowls sizzle. Food was at a good temperature (which is very important). Recommended for solo diners, as well as with family or friends.

I heard great things about this place and I got to finally try it! Walking in we were greeted right away. The server told us to look at the menu when we're ready to order we can go to the front and order with someone once we ordered we were able to find a seating and the server who greeted us told us to sit in where we want so we chose a seating in the back near the drinks fountain. We ordered a premium New York steak dish and a regular beef dish with a drink, and we ended out getting some diet Pepsi. Near the drink fountain was sauce and utensils, which we tried both soy garlic and sweet and sour sauce. When the food came, it was super hot, so be careful when you have a little kids. We had to cut the steak into small pieces to make sure that we can share it together and also mix it with the rice which was in the separate bowl. The other beef dish was easier to mix, and we ended up using the white garlic for both because it tastes the best vs the other sauce. The New York steak was very tender. Definitely enjoy the size portions and loved the variety of vegetables it comes with. My son enjoyed the New York State more than the beef bowl. The place is very nice. I think I really enjoyed how we were able to choose our own seating after ordering. They even had a restrooms in the back, which are very clean.

The staff is friendly, an very considerate. Usually they assign your seating the toddler I was with was on the brink of letting out his zoomies. I gave the kid the task of finding us a seat to sit in. When the cashier assigned us a table I asked for the table the kid was sitting at and he made it work for us. It's been a little while since I last ate here, either my belly got bigger or the meat portions got smaller. Usually one of these plates would fill me up.

    Beef Kimchi Pepper with Cheese
    Amy T.

I tried the Beef Kimchi Pepper Rice at Pepper Lunch and it was pretty good overall. The beef was tender, and the combination of rice, cheese, corn, and kimchi made the dish flavorful and filling. The hot plate kept everything sizzling, which made it fun to mix together and eat while it was still hot. The kimchi added a nice tangy flavor, but it was a bit spicier than I expected. If you're sensitive to spicy food, it might be a little overwhelming after a few bites. The cheese helped balance some of the heat, though. Overall, it was a satisfying meal with good portions and flavor, but I wish the spice level was a little milder. I'd still come back and try it again or explore some of their other menu options.

Ordered Pepper Beef Rice for $13.99. Beef portion size was a little light for the price. Soy garlic sauce was delicious. Street parking only.

First tried Pepper Lunch in Japan years before it came to America, and was of course excited when it opened here. Over the years, the meat portions have noticeably decreased and rice proportion increased (shrinkflation). It's understandable, and prices haven't increased much compared to other restaurants. Still a great meal with fast, friendly service and a comfortable casual atmosphere

    Beef Sizzling Curry Rice
    Elizabeth N.

We'd rate our experience at Pepper Lunch a 4/5. We tried the beef sizzling curry rice; the main appeal was the hot plate presentation, but the food itself didn't have much flavor. Not bad for the price, just not something we loved. The area is busy with lots of restaurants, and parking was tough since we had to circle around a few times before finding street parking.

My husband and daughter love eating here! They get the same entree everytine.... beef curry. Sat outside front patio. Wish tgey can make their door not make the screeching noise it scares me.

Kimchi Beef with Cheese Pepper Rice
    Joanne D.

I haven't had Pepper Lunch in years (the last time was in NorCal) and I was craving it, so I decided to stop by. I was surprised (and lowkey disappointed) that there wasn't an udon option anymore.. I ordered the Kimchi Beef Rice with cheese, and unfortunately the meat-to-rice ratio was really disappointing. For $18, it felt like I was mostly paying for a plate of rice and kimchi. The beef pieces were tiny and there were probably only about 6-8 pieces total. I wanted to love it for the nostalgia, but this visit didn't quite hit the same. I will not be back.

A friend of mine, Laura and her husband Ternaded lived closeby. Arcadia, to be exact. We met up there and got a very nice welcome from the host by the name of Leilani. She took us to the grill where they make Teppanyaki food. It's very similar to Benihana style. We were seated with another wonderful family and enjoyed our time together.
