I've visited Road to Seoul a handful of times. Used to really like it, but now I believe that it is just average. Lunch price is $22.99 and has around 9 options to choose from, we got brisket, bulgogi, and baby octopus. For me the bulgogi has an after taste and I didn't really enjoy my meal at this time. However, they do include a salad/sides bar which I believe it's a plus! Servers are always really nice and provide good service. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes if it's busy but never long, the entrance/wait area has a weird smell. Overall not bad, but would not be my go to place. read more

The staff was also very accommodating, setting us up at a corner table with two separate grills to suit our party. Pro tip: make sure to ask for sesame oil to mix with the salt for your meat dipping sauce. The hot bar also had some solid options, including perfectly fried chicken wings, though we focused mostly on the KBBQ. However, the experience took a turn the following day. Despite eating a significant amount of food, I didn't feel particularly full afterward, and both my wife and I woke up feeling terrible--sluggish and suffering from a severe, hangover-like headache. We suspect it may have been a reaction to high levels of MSG. While the food tasted amazing in the moment and the service was top-tier, the physical reaction we had the next day makes me hesitant to return. Especially comparing the quailty to a more expensive place I went to recently, I would gladly come here 4 times! The ambiance is large scale korean resturant, which the giant fans, lots of open seating and grills. We still smelled like smoke but wasn't as bad. And I like the ability to get my own side dishes anytime at the buffet. Came here for their weekday lunch AYCE KBBQ ($22.99/person from 11 AM - 5 PM), and honestly, it is an absolute steal for the price and experience. Our server, Lulu, was incredible and extremely on top of her game. We never had to flag anyone down--she was always right there the moment we needed a grill change or wanted to order more meat. Our water glasses were constantly refilled without us even having to ask, and she gave us a really professional, helpful explanation of all the sauces on the table. The AYCE includes access to a great self-serve bar stocked with banchan, salad, and a really good spicy tofu soup. Overall, everything tasted exceptionally well! The only minor downside--and the reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5--was that a few cuts of the meat were a bit too fatty. Still, the quality overall was great for a lunch special. They use a food delivery robot named Bella to bring out the meats, which keeps the flow super efficient. You don't have to sit around waiting for a runner to bring your next round; Bella rolls right up, and then the server takes the plates from the robot to place on your table. For $23 a person, you really can't beat the value, the self-serve variety, and the stellar service we got from Lulu. Will definitely be back! read more

We were in the mood for Chinese Food, so my son started looking for places nearby. Initially we were going to drive to China Town because a lot of local Chinese restaurants were closed, but found that quite a few were open in Alhambra. We parked in the structure just south of Main Street on S. First St. and and ended up deciding on Korean BBQ at the last minute because a couple were open on that block. We walked in Road to Seoul and found out that seniors get $10.00 off the standard price of $30.99 per person, so that was cool. My son's was full price. We just let my son order all the various meats, pork belly and chicken. As a second course he decided on baby octopus which I would not have eaten if my life depended on it. Two of those arrived and he could barely eat one. I don't want to go into the gory details about that sad and poor selection. Service was outstanding and our grill must have been changed at least ten times. The salad bar with all the side dishes was great. My son and I really liked the kimchi. I am not a big meat eater in general, but I highly recommend it for those who really love it. My Cass beer was very good. read more

I went to take advantage of their weekday lunch special for $22.99 that has 15 items to choose from. The quality of the brisket and pork belly are solid. They also have a self serve salad bar with many items that taste fresh and delicious, such as salad, potato salad, pink radish, japchae, and tofu soup. I really enjoy the kimichi and seasoned cucumber to go with the meat. The servers are nice and always walking around to help, especially with changing the grill. The restaurant wasn't busy, but they seemed understaffed. The service was friendly and faster once we were seated. The restaurant's spacious and lively, and good for big and small parties. We liked the self-serve salad & hot foods bar, which was included in the price per person. We had to ask the staff for sauces since they weren't at our table nor the bar. From the bar, I enjoyed the fried chicken wings and japchae. However, next time we visit, we'd get less food from the bar because we felt that we didn't take advantage of the BBQ as much during this visit. Other discounts they advertise include getting half off on your bday (+/- 1 date) showing ID as well as senior discount. For your bday they will play bday song over the speaker. Ban chan/side dishes are in the self serve area. I appreciate that the spring salad, bean sprouts and oranges were fresh since those are some items I always get. Both rice and rice paper are included but need to ask server for it. The unique thing here is a robot comes to your table with the order and your server will remove the meats from it. Servers are attentive and will remove grill plate without requesting. AYCE but only 3 meat orders at a time with 2 hr limit. Items come out quickly and is pretty good quality meat. As far as AYCE goes, Road to Seoul is a solid choice for KBBQ. I have been back a few times since my last review and feel they have been pretty consistent. Their regular standard dinner menu is currently about $30/pp and they have a weekday lunch special "Happy Hour" AYCE menu available for $20.99/pp (M-F 11am-5pm, excluding holidays) that I think is very worthwhile. They also do seem to offer Senior & Birthday discounts. Hubby & I came last Friday and they don't have the "hot bar" items during the weekday lunch "happy hour," but they have the cold banchans & tofu soup, which is fine. First round you get 4 meat choices, then each round after that is 3 meats. They got rid of the "steamed egg" from their regular dinner menu and don't have fountain sodas (only cans). Hubby & I usually stick with ordering Brisket, Thin Sliced Pork Belly, and Pork Jowl...we don't usually do the marinated meats. Rice Paper is available upon request and during regular dinner menu they usually have lettuce wraps too. All the sauces are at each table & they have sesame oil too (by request) if you want it. I also like ordering raw garlic slices on the side. Parking lot available behind RtS (Garfield & First), or park anywhere near Downtown Alhambra and walk over. Restrooms are fairly clean.
