Service at this place is terrible. I walked in at 9:20pm on a Friday evening and the people working the counter says takeout only because they're closed in "30" minutes. Mind you they close at 10. It's a Friday night and people drove to eat here. There were at least 3 other parties that came in after me that were turned away. This is why you don't hire high schoolers to run a business for you because I won't be coming to this location again and I doubt the people turned away will either. What a disappointment - read more

Been to a couple Pepper Lunch restaurants (Irvine, Artesia) and am very familiar with the ambiance and service that is typical of the franchise. Extremely disappointed in the service and food that we received. One member of our party asked a staff about modifications to the food (well done meat) and two of the staff went back to the counter and started laughing and giggling about the question. That was very off putting and not on par with what we've experienced at other Pepper Lunch restaurants. The food was also oilier and when we ordered the jumbo meat plate ($$$ difference) it was exactly the same as the regular beef plate. The only redeeming factor was one server who was very kind when serving our food. Given with better experience at other Pepper Lunch restaurants, we will not be going to this location again. read more

I always love me some pepper lunch so heading over there and being given such amazing service by Masami, who helped me order and brought my food to the table, made it all the better. The food was great as always, but the service really stuck out to me. I kept dropping my utensils and asking for more napkins among other mildly annoying requests to the servers but they were always kind and were ready to help me out. (Thank you Lance and Alben for the help with that) Definitely, planing to eat here more often. read more

Located in Irvine Spectrum, where there are plenty of nearby parking garages with abundant spaces. I went there around early afternoon for dinner and did not have to wait long in line. They have an easy to follow kiosk system to place your order, with staff to assist you with any questions you may have. I ordered the chicken and beef pepper combo, which had really good flavor. However, the chicken was a bit overcooked. The sauces helped with this, my favorite sauce was the honey soy sauce. Overall, it was a good experience and worth a try if you are looking for a place to eat in Irvine Spectrum. read more

Let me start off with the thing that stood out the most... service from Khaya. 5 stars for him alone. His professionalism and hospitality belongs in a 5-star restaurant. He was kind and went out of his way to approach me to make sure I had a table, water and anything else to make sure I had a good experience - thank you Khaya! I would definitely recommend this place. I ordered the beef pepper rice bowl and added egg. I added the garlic sauce and other sauce that was on the table and it was good. I feel like it was missing something, maybe something texturized... kimchi or radish would be good to try with this. I was disappointed in the quality of beef. I realize you can order other types of beef but I figured the standard would be good enough but it was a little too fatty throughout for my liking (still good though). This dining area is relatively small, there's both outdoor and indoor seating but they get full pretty quickly. It's casual dining so it's a loud side and you're sitting pretty close to other parties dining in which didn't bother me at all. Definitely worth visiting and I'd come back. I would recommend visiting during non peak hours to ensure seating (the hot stone bowl is part of the experience and you definitely want to dine-in, if possible). read more

They close at 10 and we came at like 9 and they said they don't have fork anymore. I had to ask for sauce because they took it to the kitchen for closing. They were just cleaning entire time and we didn't even get water. Interesting thing is that they are like every time i visit here. Food is good but really salty. Maybe ask for less salt. read more

Had lunch over the weekend there, fantastic experience all around. The food is delicious, pepper beef and rice is classic and can't go wrong. My daughter is craving for pasta and they got that covered as well. I also tried their curry, which was fantastic as well. Every single thing about this place was amazing. The fresh ingredients and way the food is cooked in your own bowl. My kids had 3 servings each and (for the first time in my family) all agreed on a favorite meal! I've never been to the Spectrum before, but I was feeling really hungry, and I didn't want a burger. I've never heard of this place, but I was drawn by the smell, kind of like a burning skillet. I was greeted by Khaya, who sat us down and gave us beverages while we decided on what to order. I'm a very indecisive person, so by the time he came back, I had a bunch of questions about the menu and what he recommended. He was very patient with me, and he recommended the Kimchi Beef with cheese; it did not disappoint. His service was outstanding, and his ability to anticipate our needs, such as a refill or sauce, was timely and very convenient. Just based on this experience alone, I'm coming back. Not sure what the hype is about this place besides its location near the movie theatre at Irv Spectrum. I came back for a 2nd time to even be more disappointed. I ordered two of the same things. First bowl was regular no change, second was remove the veggies. The one without the veggies came first and the second one took about 15 - 20 minutes to arrive. I believe it was forgotten about because about five or six other customers around me, all receive their food, including the other people in my party and I had to ask twice for it. And to add to that, it was an off hour at lunch it wasn't even that busy. In addition the fact that you charge for a side of the smallest cup of kimchi is disgraceful after spending so much money on this very unimpressive food. Portions are so stingy, they barely give you any meat, and it's so thinly sliced you need to be adding double to it. My 1st grader wasn't even full from the stingy beef bowl and he got his own portion. For the amount you charge and weak service I would expect a lot more. Nothing redeeming about this spot. read more
