It seems that many times I find myself late at night in questionable dining establishments that provide to me exactly the thing I am looking for after a late night party boy excursion. I want something greasy and cheap. Oh and good. The Pepper Pod is one of the better places in Cincinnati/NKY for this. The food is always consistently good and cheap. The wait never seems to be that long once you've ordered, but there is a good chance you will be waiting for a table after the bars let out. There is a reason that this places is a packed house on weekend late nights. I recommend the Texas Patty Melt if you are looking for a fix of greasy beef and cheese. I've eaten breakfast here also, and their omelets are very respectable. If you don't mind some grease and grit, this place is for you. Even if you do mind, take a chance anyway. read more

Fantastic food, waitresses that treat you like a family member and prices that are a sin they are so low. And it's open all night which is great for folks who work night jobs or students. A late night favorite for Northern Kentucky drunks! The Pepper Pod is a 24 hour diner, so the real show starts at about 2 am when the bars let out. You are sure to hear and see something pretty astonishing, and may possibly fear for your life. The waitresses are either sweet as pie or deeply cynical, but I love them either way. The Big Eddie (essentially a Big Boy) is good and cheap. Actually, almost everything is crazy-cheap. Plus, they have chili cheese tots (it won't be on the menu, it's on the poster board additions taped to the wall). I also think the coffee is pretty good, and they make a mean milk shake! read more

*sigh* ... it's got a lot of potential, but there are a few things that completely ruin it. These guys are stuck in the 1980s when smoking was still considered cool. Their smoking section stinks, but so does their non-smoking section, as the ventilation sucks all the air out of the smoking section and... well, it seems, deposits it in non-smoking, which stinks as bad as the smoking. The other problem with the place is that the acoustics are horrible. I could hear the guy across the room chomping his food. ICK. But, the food is good. If they could fix the ventilation (or just get with the times and ditch the ashtrays) and the acoustics, clean up a little bit, it could go five stars! read more

Customer service is good but the owner have an attitude and throw a tantrum when he makes a mistake one in order. Also give customer attitude. Which cause me to leave the establishment and go to a different restaurant I will give this a 2 star only because of the customer service read more

Went to the Pepper Pod for the first time sober last Sunday morning. Food was as advertised; however delicious. Wait staff was very attentive; regularly asking if we needed anything. Food was somewhat slow to come out even though the place was only maybe 1/3 full. Overall great price for some delicious classic diner eats. Will definitely return sober again soon! read more

Located on Monmouth in Newport, this little diner is open 24/7 and always has exactly what you're craving. Whether it's breakfast at night or a burger in the morning, they have exactly what you want. If you're sensitive to smoke, I would advise you to go somewhere else as this diner does allow smoking.. But if you're in Newport at 3am after the bars close and you're not feeling Whitecastle, go to Pepper Pod for the best eggs n' goetta around. read more

We tried this diner for breakfast and both agreed it's one of the best we've had. We even went back the next morning. A highlight was the fresh goetta, which was crispy on the outside and delicious. Our omelet and over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly. The omelet was full of fresh veggies which were served tender-crisp, just the way I like them. Service was fast and efficient. This is where you go after a night of heavy drinking at the Levy or something. Service could be improved but they're basically serving a bunch of partiers until 4 in the morning so I definitely can't blame them. They have the best fried chicken I've ever had in my entire life - seriously - it's out of control. Let me clarify - I have had a lot of fried chicken and this is, without question, the best by a long shot. In fact, everything on the menu is fantastic! Don't go here expecting some kind of grass-fed beef burger or something like that but if you're looking for a quick, delicious, diner meal at a place that's open 24 hrs, you can't possibly beat this place. It is in a really weird area - Newport, KY is really nice in some areas and those nice areas are surrounded by really, really crappy areas. So you get some weirdos and hilljacks here for sure. My boyfriend and I love coming here it's always good and there always nice! I love any of the sandwiches he gets breakfast. You get a lot for your money also. The only thing it is a greasy spoon so don't expect it to bee super clean and there's always a bunch of people smoking and the place is small so that's uncomfortable. read more

I just love this place, it's our Sunday morning hangover breakfast spot. Since I'm there on Sunday morning instead of late Saturday night, I guess the service is different, because every time I've been there, the service is amazing. The staff would re-fill your coffee a half dozen times if you let them. And like others have mentioned, very charming with the "hun"s and "sweetie"s. The manager (or owner maybe?) talks to every customer it seems like, and keeps everything running smoothly. Very homey place. I'm not a breakfast food eater, so I either get the Big Eddie or Turkey Club and omg...those tots! It's not fancy and I'm not expecting it to be, and so so good! On the suggestion of the server, I make it a platter and double the tots, which gives me enough to share with my boyfriend. He always gets the 24 hour special, eggs , sausage patties (you can also get ham or bacon) hashbrowns and toast. Coffee included, it's only 5.95! If you're not a smoker, be warned, there is smoking and lots of it. The non-smoking room may be a little better, but I always sit at the counter so I'm not sure. And yes, there's a server that smokes behind the counter! But I'm a smoker, soit doesn't really bother me. For me it just adds to the greasy spoon charm. read more

While in Kentucky, visiting the Ark and the Creation Museum, we were fortunate enough to get a recommendation to this restaurant. What a delight! Off the beaten path for sure but well worth the detour! With advanced warning that we were a party of twenty...they called in extra help to accommodate us and we appreciated it. The food was scrumptious, perfectly seasoned and prepared by a chef of excellence. For me, the white fish was the best I have had in a very long time. The last time I went to the Pepper Pod I had 2 friends from out of town join me. They were new to the Cincinnati area, and I wanted them to experience something from my youth. I used to frequent the Pepper Pod after work on Friday and Saturday nights at around 2am. But this time around was not a nostalgic walk down memory lane. Instead we all ended up getting what I can assume is food poisoning. Knowing what I know now I should have reported this place to the Board of Health for a food born outbreak, but alas that is in the past. The place smells terrible, and the decor is dated as well. If you like tasting cigarette smoke in your burgers then maybe this is the place for you. But for me, I'll stick to Mad Mikes. read more

Under normal conditions, this place would NEVER get 3 stars. But, similar to the Denny's nearby my undergrad campus, it's actually not that bad at 3 AM and they have little to no competition at that time of night. If you're hopping the bars in Newport, I'd recommend parking near Pepper Pod and calling in an order while you're walking back to your car. That way, you can just grab the food to go and bring it back home to soak up some of the alcohol in your system - and hopefully help you not be a zombie the following morning/afternoon. I would not recommend eating in, unless you enjoy the taste of ashtray with your chicken fingers. On that note, they're moving down to 2 stars. I have been going here for 17 years and it's by far the best place ever. I even came here while I was pregnant. This is a late night place.

Went for the first time today and chose to have breakfast to start the day. My ham and cheese omelet was big fluffy and delicious. My request for non-crispy bacon was done to perfection and the service had a very "homey" feeling to it. The decor could use some finer upgrades to match the loving attention of the cooks and servers of this 24 hour slice of eatery paradise. Make the place "look" better...I will add that 5th star. A 3am excursion in search for the closest late night pizza joint led me to this 24 hour Diner. After checking out the the place for a few minutes I was about to leave. Luckily I stuck around. While disappointed that I could not find any pizza, I was happy to find this establishment, which serves a great $8 steak(rounding up by the way).
