Insurance changed and I had to find, yet again, another dentist. I found Peppermint Dental off insurance site and decided the name was odd enough to give it a whirl. Sounds silly, but I didn't want a chain dentist. Our history with chain dentists is they charge a lot, and they tell you that you need more work than you do. I thought I would need a root canal because my crown from last year was still randomly hurting. I also had another tooth that was sensitive and felt like the gums were receding. I was really expecting $1,000. Turns out gums are not as bad as I thought, and they gave me some tips to slow the regression. Again, I was totally expecting a deep gum cleaning and a root canal. Nope. Dentist saw my crown just needed filed down. Very affordable even with the 5 cavities I do have. I was a patient for quite awhile, and was happy most of the time. The problem started when I denied wanting to do a procedure, deep cleaning, and was told by the office manager I had to do it. I knew that was true due to not wanting to do it a few years earlier and it was okay. As soon as I told that to the office manager, she said I had to and wouldn't be allowed to return until I did. Additionally, during the recent COVID pandemic they have gone above and beyond in making their patients feel safe and secure when getting their check ups. It seems they are using heightened cleaning standards, medical grade air filters throughout along with devices at each station to diminish the spread of droplets that come from teeth cleaning. I was worried I would not be seen right away or would be rushed through, but Dr. Lee was simply outstanding - her front office team scheduled to see me same day, just a couple hours after I called; her dental assistant was lovely and put me at ease, and Dr. Lee herself, wow, she had all the time I needed to be seen. She listened, did an exam, took care of my bite check problem, and gave instructions for follow-up. Dr. Cheryl Lee is a wonderful dentist, however, her billing department is awful. They quote you one price after the visit is complete and expect you to pay it before you leave. Then, once you receive your insurance EOB you realize you have been overcharged, and the refund takes forever to receive! I have gone to them for at least eight years and have officially decided to leave them because they cannot get their billing under control. The first billing issue I encountered was several years back and when I requested the refund back to my debit card, they accidently pulled more money from account. Since that incident, I have requested they bill my insurance prior to me paying as I don't want to expect another refund 3+ months later. This last visit they told me that I needed to pay at least 50% after the service was rendered, which I declined to do. They quoted me $248 for the visit and come to find out, I only owed $71 after insurance paid. Again, I would have had to be refunded. Their billing department is incompetent and I highly recommend you think twice about going here for dental services. read more

This office is truly amazing. I'm a lifetime dental-phobe and have a bad habit if letting things go for too long between visits. Being born with genetic dental issues didn't help. The Peppermint Dental staff were warm and upbeat and welcoming from when I walked in the door to when i left. They made me feel welcome and human. Dr Lee has an amazing bedside manner. She was friendly and sympathetic but also very knowledgeable and professional in letting me know what was going on with my teeth and the best way to approach it. Today, I went in for a routine cleaning and x-rays. It was a wonderful, low stress experience. The x-rays found the beginning of an infection in a root canal. This was caught quickly and saved me a lot of pain from an infection developing. Dr. Lee suggested a specialist referral, and the process was seamless. Had my initial visit yesterday & LOVED them. My hygienist Jen, was warm,welcoming & more thorough than I've experienced with any hygienist visit I've had before! Dr.Lee is friendly, efficient, thorough - explains steps as she completes your exam. This office is extremely professional and much consideration has been given to creature comforts of the clientele. The rinse water is warmed(no shockingly cold water hitting your teeth), you get individual cable channel of your choice during your visit (I was used to looking up at ceiling tiles with my last dentist). Much thought has been put into how things are set up in this practice! Equipment(diagnostic equipment& dental equipment is wonderful(client chairs are so comfortable & help keep you relaxed). I am giving one star but only because I have to in order to post my review. This is the most unprofessional office I've ever dealt with! I called about 2 months ago to schedule an appointment, and today was the soonest I could get one as a new patient. I was woken up at 6:30 this morning by a text from the office manager saying the hygienist was out due to a family emergency but that they still wanted me to come today for the exam and come back in 9 days for the cleaning. I asked if there was anyone else that could clean my teeth today or if everything could be done at the later appointment due to my work schedule. They told me if I didn't do the exam today, I couldn't get my teeth cleaned at the next appointment because the doctor wouldn't be there that day. Instead of responding to the text, I called and said it was really frustrating, especially after how long I've waited for the appointment and that I understand and sympathize about the emergency but that they should try to accommodate the needs of their patients too as I shouldn't have to have two different appointments. Although frustrating, I agreed to the two appointments because I didn't want to start over elsewhere but did tell them it was not a good first impression for a new patient. An hour later, I received a text from the office manager saying that she discussed my concerns with Dr Lee and based off of those concerns they didn't think that I would be a good fit for their office and canceled both of my appointments! I called and asked to speak to Dr Lee in regard to the cancelled appointments but of course did not get a call back! This office is a joke! I'm not happy about the situation, but it sounds like they did me a favor by canceling! If that's how they treat patients, especially new ones that have no idea how they operate, it's a wonder they're even in business! Don't waste your time with this place!!! read more

I called Peppermint Dental when I received their 1st statement last fall and explained to them that I am in the Medicare Part A & B QMB Program and should not be charged ANY fees for my visit. I made it clear that I was not paying it and that you should contact Medicare to verify this Program. I have enclosed an attachment of a document I was sent when I called Medicare and Medicaid about the Medicare Part A & B QMB Program is for people with very low income . My Washington Provider One card covers this. By trying to collect this bill they are violating their Medicare Provider Agreement and may be subject to sanctions. When I went to their office I was needing a Dental Clearance for a surgery I had scheduled. I needed to know what work was absolutely required to meet that clearance. I was given a list of all kinds of work that I was told was needed before the surgery. It was thousands of dollars I did not have and caused me extreme stress thinking I would not be able to get the surgery I needed. I found out from another dental office that most of what I was told by their office, wasn't needed to be done, and was not required to satisfy the clearance. I see this as a policy that is meant to get as much $ out of their patients as they could before they go out the door. It's all about greed! When I called Peppermint Dental office last fall about the billing statement I explained to them about the QMB Program, she spoke down to me and implied I did not know what I was talking about and insisted I still had to pay the bill, causing me undue distress and anxiety!!! I suggest that you call Medicare to verify what I've stated and then go over the attached document with your Front Desk and Billing people so they are aware of this Program and then post it where your employees can see it so this never happens to another patient! If anyone asks me to refer them to a good dental office I will tell them "DO NOT TO GO TO PEPPERMINT DENTAIL"! read more

If you're into a simple, no frills dentist that may or may not charge you more, this place might not be your cup of tea. I'm scarred by going to small, jenky-looking dental offices that my parents had me to go to when I was a kid, so as soon as I started choosing my own dentists, I go for lots of bells and whistles. I definitely appreciate customer service, decor, comfort-- the works when I visit the dentist. They offered me an Ipod to listen to music (the most uncomfortable part about the dentist for me is the noise), blanket, neck warmer, etc. They have a variety of refreshments up front as well as a computer to surf the Internet while you wait. I went in for a first exam and cleaning a few weeks ago. They weren't very fast, but the customer service was excellent. The dental assistant that performed my cleaning was fantastic (I forgot her name). Dr. Lee was great as well. She kept me informed of exactly what was going on and made sure I was very comfortable. read more
