I've now tried this place 4 times. 2 times during dinner their phone did work according to their staff. However this last time was the worst. They stated a 45 minute wait which was ok given the holiday season and a Saturday night. It took an hour and a half and checking in three times for them to realize that we were getting antsy. We have 3 kids to feed and the wait was pretty ridiculous. When I approached the second time the lady told me they forgot our pizza order, while our sub and appetizer sat our their counter. Finally when approaching 10 minutes later they said our food was ready and their reply to our frustration with was that 'we are the only pizza place on the island'. Blew me away. The pizza is usually good but as I told them. Pizza shack is also on the island and may just be a serviceable alternative. Very disappointed in a place we wanted to call our spot and refer to family and friends. Hate to give this review but deserved tonight. Also. We ordered mozzarella sticks and a sub which set out for almost 45 minutes. Needless to say. Cold and lacking Was takeout. read more

As soon as we walked we were greeted sooo pleasantly by the staff. She walked us thru the menu and helped is picked some delicious food for our early dinner. Our food arrived fast...nice and hot and most importantly delicious! We were not familiar with the area and were very satisfied with this gem! read more

These guys make good food, absolutely. But, you will find that they feel you are fortunate to get them to do anything else. Example, answer the phone. Most times, they have this recording playing that says they are really busy and can't answer your call. Instead, you have to drive there, order and wait. When you drive there, you'll find that they are anything but busy. If I owned this place, I might spend more time explaining how important customer experience is these days and maybe holding my team accountable to some sort of baseline expectations. Great product, not so good service. Attitude reflects leadership, and that seems to be a gap. read more

Great pizza and craft beer in Oak Island say whatttt? I'm a big beer scholar so on tap was Sierra Nevada Torpedo and that made me happy. For those who don't know beer and don't mind the flavor of good beer - there is Budweiser. Just be sure to check your Man Card at the door if you choose the latter. I wish I was a cow and had four stomachs. What!? Yeah so the pizza was so good I wish I had room for six more slices. That means I'll have to be back. Wow. These local rat hole pizza places won't know what to do with this awesome competition. Let me tell you - I am from NY and know good pizza. The Sicilian is even better then my grandma Maria made. Cookies are okay with a gooey middle. Pizzas are not. Not once. Not twice. Not three times. EVERY TIME they cannot cook the pizza thoroughly. In season. Off season. Any season. Once we narrowed down the issue, I've asked for the pizza "well done". Sadly, the kitchen staff must some vampire compulsion spell which prohibits them from leaving pie in the oven beyond soggy stage. Thankfully, the Boiling Spring Lakes location does justice to the pie -- so you know, given the right conditions and enough heat in the oven, OKI could rise like the dough to the occasion and produce as tasty a pie. All other food is at a normal, tasty level you'd expect from a beach joint. Front of house staff is pleasant. Easy location across from the beach. This by far is my favorite pizza place in all ofNC! The pizza is awesome!!! You get a few garlic knots while your waiting for your order which takes no time at all. I was there this afternoon for lunch and pleading with them to deliver to a well known neighborhood just on the north side of the bridge. Lol Their sandwiches are also very good and priced well. Cute pizza place that's not fancy, yet has some ambience with its hand drawn menu boards and fun food options. We had the garlic knots (yum!), pizza (half margarita and half carnalicious) and a garden calzone. Everything was excellent, although it could have been a bit spicier for my palate. We have been coming to this establishment for the past three years, and we have tried it with every previous owner. Pepperoni Grill is by far the best of the three. We went the other day for lunch. The inside had been redone and is fresh and new. The staff is very nice and professional. Now onto the food..... We had sandwiches. I had the turkey bacon ranch and my wife had the veggie supreme sub. Both were given the option of hot or cold, and they were able to be customized to our liking. Both were excellent! Later that night, we decided to order pizza. We never like to order pizza from the big stores, and we do not like the other pizza place on the island. We ordered the pizza and garlic knot combo. The pizza was excellent. Thin crust, fresh dough, and ready on time. The garlic knots were mediocre, and too tough to chew. They need a different type of sauce on them, but I can't complain because they were free. We will be back, and we hope that they are here to stay. The only room for improvement would be the outside appearance from the back. If I were to drive up from Dolphin Street, I would be uninterested in the place regardless of the food. I steered away from the other pizza place on the island based on poor reviews, somee tried out this one. Thinner crust pizza joint. On a take-out order, we had a veggie, double pepperoni, cheese, and a few dozen wings. The wings weren't crispy, but were meaty. The pizzas all had good flavor, and crispy bottoms, but the cheese pizza was burned in places at the bottom. After adding a salad from home, we fed 7 adults and 3 young kids with this order. This was our first time to Oak Island and was driving around looking for a neat little place to eat that wasn't to fancy and inexpensive. We drove and noticed quite a few cars parked out front and a nice little deck outside to eat on. The menu is HUGE! They have everything from Pizza, Stromboli, calzones, wings, and other appetizers! The staff was Super Amazing! We were welcomed as soon as we entered and asked if we've been there before. My wife answered now and the very nice hound lady proceeded to go over the entire menu and explain all the different options. The food was prepared very quickly and was amazing! Had lunch here a while back. Got two pizzas and a drink at an ok price. I would like to see the lunch special go down by a dollar or two however I can't be too mad. I got a margarita pizza slice and some other spinoff of a margarita pizza one of the employees made. It was very good! The employees seemed to be having a good time and that always makes an experience as a customer worthwhile. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is due to the price. I would like to see it cheaper.
